Adobe Flash for ICS Leak - Motorola Atrix 2

Alright as we all know Adobe is dropping flash support for Android starting with 4.1 (aka. Jellybean). They are even going as far as pulling flash from the play store on August 15. They specifically say though they will support flash for 4.0.x devices (which should include us). The problem is though flash does not work! Or at least embedded flash video does not work. This is not just a problem with the ICS leak, after spending a couple of hours scouring forums I've found that pretty much every Moto device on ICS is having this problem (including the Razr, Razr Maxx, and Bionic). As am sure with a lot of you flash was a large selling point for Android over iOS. Even though HTML5 is emerging, it is still in its infancy stages, and not many websites support it; most websites are still using flash. So I am creating this thread as a "work thread" to get ideas and solutions out there to get flash working on our phones.

I had a back up of adobe flash with tbu and it will not install at all. It just hangs. Its frustrating.

I believe XDA ToS may not allow me to post it here without being banned or something.

I will if you tell me how. I have SGS tools.
i changed the device to ro.product.model=Nexus S in the build.prop to spoof the netflix app but still receiving the device support error -__-
OK so I did that. It should work according to some other forums I read. I was able to download the app from the market.
For some reason when I log in though closes after I hit sign in.
Works fine on my g slate

No issues here but I'm on a Nexus S 4G great quality on both 4G and WiFi ... I don't know if flash 10.3 has to do with anything ... Still it's a great app to finally have on Android

Rumors has it that Flash 10.3 has something to do with it, but it's also integration with the chipset itself that has a lot to do with it as well.
I guess I was one of those that skipped the netflix generation and went straight into online streaming. I use Amazon VOD for pretty much everything. No native video app those yet, just mostly use it on my google TV. I honestly don't watch TV or movies on my phone.

+1 on that. I tend to watch Netflix on my T-MoUS Galaxy Tab (just got it working on that platform) or my iPad if I'm remote and not at home.
It's really painful watching streaming video on my phone and I don't do that unless I absolutely have to.
Im currently in the process of testing a few things to get this to work on the GS4g. I was having the strange problem that the netflix app would go back to the home screen after I login.
I am editing the build props and trying a few other things out. So far nothing, but if I get it working I will post how to do it.
I did a little bit of research and it appears that we wont be able to use the netflix application at all unless we have gingerbread on our device.
So without a ginger rom we are out of luck, that is unless we find a workaround or they update the app anytime soon.
I came to this conclusion after looking through the Vibrant forums under the themes and apps section, they also are having trouble with the Application.

Hey guys don't forget the app was only released for certain phone models so most of us will probably need to use some work arounds.
Its working great on Tytung Nexus 2.7. If its not working for you, try this...
- Replace drmprovider.apk in system/apps with this file ( http://www.htchd2forum.com/android-...odes-android-app/?action=dlattach;attach=1284 ). It is the drmprovider.apk from the LG Revolution, which has the required restrictions for Netflix. (Don't forget to back up the original first, just incase).
- Change model name in build.prop to Nexus One (model approved for Netflix service)
- Install Netflix.apk from market (Link in post 1, old Netflix apps that have been floating around didn't work for me, just this one).
Restart phone and try it out! That did it for me, hope it helps on other roms. Good luck!
Props to poster of LG Revolution drmprovide.apk to the guys at htchd2forum, OP of this thread for Netflix.apk, my idea on the build.prop model.

New Market working on MIUI and Cyanogen 7

Just wanted to confirm after testing that the new Market is working on both the MIUI and Cyanogen Roms.
Of course you can't watch videos [you can in fact rent, but not watch] on rooted devices.

Yeah. Rooted phones can rent movies/videos but cannot watch them. And getting a refund will consist of filling out a refund form.
So if you're rooted don't even bother going through the hassle of trying to rent a movie.

I agree too, the Movies on rooted phones is bull****. As if I'm really going to open Shootme and record a movie at 2 frames per second and have my phone blow up halfway through the movie.

We should not worry about this thing because the web developers will now finally wake up and adopt more modern technologies such as HTML5 for creating web content
Hopefully:laugh:
I've been an ios user for many years. I have not come across anything major that I needed flash for. Once in a while a video wouldn't work. But it was rare. Can someone tell me some major sites that would still need flash. Sites that don't already have an app & are still stuck in the dark ages. I just seriously don't get it & I'm genuinely asking.
Gnex running 4.1.1. Flash is working just fine. No, it will not receive updates, but the old apk's still work.
Stay with ICS, may be the good choice for users that still prefer flash player.
Goodbye Flash
It seems that even Adobe has given up on this platform. It served its purpose for its time. Now on to the future of HTML5 and beyond.

Finally the memory leak bull**** will be gone for ever.
Flash was never meant to be on a mobile platform anyway. With this, Flash for mobile will be gone and another nail will be struck into the coffin of Flash for PC. It was useful back in the day (Wednesday), but now that newer, better technologies have emerged, it's time to leave Flash behind as a standard.
I'm looking forward to more content switching to HTML5 and being compatible with mobile. Flash didn't solve this issue even when it was supported. Now maybe we'll finally see all YouTube videos become available, etc.
Adobe may be done with flash, but it will live on forever in hacked build.prop on xda

as an avid flasher I have encountered the "too many authorized devices please purchase another copy or remove devices" error. you have to remove the multiple copies of the same device in Amazon settings on the desktop site. if you are unsure which devices to leave authorized you can check by opening the kindle app on each device and in settings it will give you the name of the device ie "7th android" and will allow you to rename the device as well
I have to say, I don't quite understand!:crying:

Yes you can deactivate the extra devices
I flashed my Kindle with a Jelly Bean Rom and I don't really read many books. I use this thing in school and I got the Kindle Android OS saved and backed up. So when school hits I might bring this and the teachers think I read a book when they walk by but really, I just get on the internet or use a texting app. Or watch a movie with subtitles
its easy to remove devices, I find the hard part is finding the right page in the amazon account settings.
If you don't know which is active just deactivate all of them, it registers again when you sign in.
Also why does Amazon keep prompting me to buy a kindle when I already own one.

Why should I buy an Android device if the main selling point over an iPhone 4/5 is no longer supported? I understand Modding, ROMs, etc, but seriously, look at this from a Joe Schmoe perspective. As much as I love our android devices as a whole, the iPhone definitely has a more polished UI experience.

certainly not worth digging up this debate again...
personally..i enjoy having a tweakable linux box in my pocket where i can upgrade the storage memory, pull out the battery in the event of a significant problem, and an interface i can customize beyond the standard.... not a closed piece of hardware with a cartoon-ish interface backed by one of the most selfish and greedy (yet seemingly brilliant to the sheep) marketing teams on the planet...regardless, Flash isn't even within the top 10 reasons of why I chose Android and didn't even remotely consider others....
As announced directly from Adobe, they will no longer support Flash Player to the latest version of the OS (4.1.X)
If not officially supported, that does not mean that Flash Player can not be installed on devices with Android Jelly Bean 4.1.
Here, in fact, a small guide to follow to install Adobe Flash Player 11.1.115.12:
1) Download the file. Apk of Flash Player:http://www.mediafire.com/?lqxd6qnr63kj2t1
Download the file flash_player version 11.1.102.59.apk:http://d-h.st/o1I
Dolphin Browser HD 8.5.1 APK (Supports Flash):http://d-h.st/3ZS
2) Copy your files to the SD card of your Android device. (Be it tablet or smartphone, it makes no difference)
3) Install it using any File Manager.
4) Start the Browser
5) Go into the Browser settings and uncheck the option of Flash Player (on demand or always on at your discretion)
6) Finally you have the latest version of Flash also Android!
Adobe Flash Player is not officially supported and therefore the speed of loading of Flash objects in HTML pages is not guaranteed at the highest levels. However, as tested, Flash Player behaves well with satisfactory results.
