Just wanted to confirm after testing that the new Market is working on both the MIUI and Cyanogen Roms.
Of course you can't watch videos [you can in fact rent, but not watch] on rooted devices.

I can confirm it works on Gingerbread/Sense 3.0 ROMs.
Can you give a little more detail about what rooted phones aren't able to do related to videos?

Yeah. Rooted phones can rent movies/videos but cannot watch them. And getting a refund will consist of filling out a refund form.
So if you're rooted don't even bother going through the hassle of trying to rent a movie.

Personally, that isn't something I care about, but that's lame. I wonder why being rooted prohibits that.

DRM concerns from the MPAA.
I agree too, the Movies on rooted phones is bull****. As if I'm really going to open Shootme and record a movie at 2 frames per second and have my phone blow up halfway through the movie.
But where the hell did you get the new Market? I don't want to wait for Google to push it, it could take weeks.
It's available from a slew of places. Just look around.

Just found it in the themes and apps section.
I would use netflix if you really wanna see movies on your small phone screen.
The new market is very nice but I miss the carousel.
Have you seen the new pricing from Netflix? LOL
Sent from CBC.
The new market is cool. And seems a lot faster. It works on the ROM i'm currently using (see signature). Not being able to watch movies is something i don't really care about tbh. If I REALLY need to watch a movie on the go I can just use Netflix.
Working on royal Ginger 2.1

Meh. Sorry but I use uTorrent and DL my Blu-ray movies, then transfer to my media streamer. Pure Blu-ray goodness with no hassle.

Its in the market.
This app has a simple to use interface that lets you stream movies from the web. It has pause and rewind/ forward options as well. This is a great alternative to netflix, and seeing that it won't happen soon for our evo's this was an easy choice. It works well on my evo running cm7, the only gripe would if it was actual full screen for us but I'm sure it will be worked out soon. Hope some take the plunge and enjoy the massive movie base, I just finished watching battle:los angeles at work and it was dvd quality! Now off to see faster...

I dont think this app will last long. I can't believe they have a pay version when they are showing illegal copies of movies. Thats just a sure fire way of getting found out and shutdown.

True but we're paying for the convenience of getting the movie links and streaming with the app, at least it isn't a subscription service.
Works awesome on my thunderbolt. I also bought the more expensive pro app.

did this get pulled from the market? I can't find it in the market at all. Not by searching and not in my apps list even though it is installed. And the app force closes when I try to search for movies.
Anyone else?

I've heard they were going to put out this magazine before, and to me, its pretty much a joke of a magazine.
Let me give you an excerpt from the first page which made me laugh:
"In a world full of roadblocks, rules and lame limitations, Droid has none. It empowers you to do life on your terms, in your own time."
I'm sure you are all laughing right now.
Lets see, Droid has no limitations..... I'm assuming they aren't including forced bloatware and forced custom UI's? Right....
"It empowers you to do life on your terms..."
Obviously except for not being able to remove apps you don't want on your phone, or to choose to have a pure Android experience without Motoblurcrap or Sense or any other (I don't really mind Sense, but it's the principle!)
Other than that, the magazine is just trying to sell you accessories and phones.
The only reason it was mailed out.
Doc
It was a complete joke and nothing at all like what they were trying to promote before it came out. Marketing bull.
Truly scary would be a magazine titled "BlackBerry!" Can you imagine the sorry crap an issue of that would contain?!
Magazines still exist? Damn.

Alright as we all know Adobe is dropping flash support for Android starting with 4.1 (aka. Jellybean). They are even going as far as pulling flash from the play store on August 15. They specifically say though they will support flash for 4.0.x devices (which should include us). The problem is though flash does not work! Or at least embedded flash video does not work. This is not just a problem with the ICS leak, after spending a couple of hours scouring forums I've found that pretty much every Moto device on ICS is having this problem (including the Razr, Razr Maxx, and Bionic). As am sure with a lot of you flash was a large selling point for Android over iOS. Even though HTML5 is emerging, it is still in its infancy stages, and not many websites support it; most websites are still using flash. So I am creating this thread as a "work thread" to get ideas and solutions out there to get flash working on our phones.

As per the subject heading, the NFL's official app chose to not allow access to users with rooted devices.
It seems more and more app makers (from larger companies) are making this decision, and, obviously, it's lame... and of course they have the right to do this (so please don't argue that point) but it goes against the concept of Android's openness.
So, even if you have no interest in the NFL, I encourage all of you to download the app from the play store and review it at 1 STAR as a sign of protest. I've seen the app's rating go from 4.7 to 4.0 in the last couple days due to all the rooted users protesting the NFL's choice to do this.
Cheers
