Seems flash if finally going away....

The main question now is "How will we deal with any flash file within the coming android versions ?!"
Mmmmm guess that its a bad news for google
No worries, html5 does it all. Flash will be dead soon enough.

We should not worry about this thing because the web developers will now finally wake up and adopt more modern technologies such as HTML5 for creating web content
Hopefully:laugh:
I've been an ios user for many years. I have not come across anything major that I needed flash for. Once in a while a video wouldn't work. But it was rare. Can someone tell me some major sites that would still need flash. Sites that don't already have an app & are still stuck in the dark ages. I just seriously don't get it & I'm genuinely asking.
Gnex running 4.1.1. Flash is working just fine. No, it will not receive updates, but the old apk's still work.
Stay with ICS, may be the good choice for users that still prefer flash player.
Goodbye Flash
It seems that even Adobe has given up on this platform. It served its purpose for its time. Now on to the future of HTML5 and beyond.

Finally the memory leak bull**** will be gone for ever.
Flash was never meant to be on a mobile platform anyway. With this, Flash for mobile will be gone and another nail will be struck into the coffin of Flash for PC. It was useful back in the day (Wednesday), but now that newer, better technologies have emerged, it's time to leave Flash behind as a standard.
I'm looking forward to more content switching to HTML5 and being compatible with mobile. Flash didn't solve this issue even when it was supported. Now maybe we'll finally see all YouTube videos become available, etc.
Adobe may be done with flash, but it will live on forever in hacked build.prop on xda
So Flash is dead, Long live Flash

I admin many websites using flash and none of them are planning to stop using flash soon(3-6 months). Too bad for Android devices running JB.

there are a lot of problems with HTML5 btw. People who think it is better than Flash (at this very moment) are just wrong.

I've heard they were going to put out this magazine before, and to me, its pretty much a joke of a magazine.
Let me give you an excerpt from the first page which made me laugh:
"In a world full of roadblocks, rules and lame limitations, Droid has none. It empowers you to do life on your terms, in your own time."
I'm sure you are all laughing right now.
Lets see, Droid has no limitations..... I'm assuming they aren't including forced bloatware and forced custom UI's? Right....
"It empowers you to do life on your terms..."
Obviously except for not being able to remove apps you don't want on your phone, or to choose to have a pure Android experience without Motoblurcrap or Sense or any other (I don't really mind Sense, but it's the principle!)
Other than that, the magazine is just trying to sell you accessories and phones. [/QUOTE]
The only reason it was mailed out.
Doc
It was a complete joke and nothing at all like what they were trying to promote before it came out. Marketing bull.
Truly scary would be a magazine titled "BlackBerry!" Can you imagine the sorry crap an issue of that would contain?!
Magazines still exist? Damn.

I don't know where to look for it in my root folder, does anyone know where it would be or if it's on this phone?
CIQ is only on the new phone's starting the amaze to SGS2 not on the Sidekick 4G .

Update: I downloaded treve's app onto my broken Sidekick and ran it. it appears that it found no trace of Carrier IQ on the phone; however, as far as I'm aware, different OEMs may be able to install it differently, and we're just beginning to understand it, so there is the possibility that it's just installed in a different folder on this phone, or under different file names, etc. So we should probably keep an eye out for it.

do we know that for sure though? the company's been around since 2005, and apparently has made a name for themselves among the cell phone barons; surely they didn't just start shipping a product to the carriers. also, the Sidekick is only about 7 months old or so. and i think I saw a post saying it's on some older phones than that... this one may be ok, given that CIQ probably has to be modified for each modified Android version, and the one we're running is pretty unique, but it's too early to tell.
Best person to ask all that is sudvick pm him

I'm telling you what i know , CIQ has been started on RECENT device's , i'm talking about 2 month's recent .

I think we should still keep an eye out, especially if the device gets upgraded to Gingerbread or Ice Cream Sandwich -- the newer OS may add Carrier IQ.
But thanks to all who did the research on this. I am VERY relieved this forced spyware is NOT on this phone!!!

From your screen pics, it looks like you are rooted/ROM'd -- ROMS will not have Carrier IQ. Are you ROM'd or are you running stock SK4G?

Alright as we all know Adobe is dropping flash support for Android starting with 4.1 (aka. Jellybean). They are even going as far as pulling flash from the play store on August 15. They specifically say though they will support flash for 4.0.x devices (which should include us). The problem is though flash does not work! Or at least embedded flash video does not work. This is not just a problem with the ICS leak, after spending a couple of hours scouring forums I've found that pretty much every Moto device on ICS is having this problem (including the Razr, Razr Maxx, and Bionic). As am sure with a lot of you flash was a large selling point for Android over iOS. Even though HTML5 is emerging, it is still in its infancy stages, and not many websites support it; most websites are still using flash. So I am creating this thread as a "work thread" to get ideas and solutions out there to get flash working on our phones.

Damn didn't work... the apk is installed but my browser doesn't recognize flash...
After seeing some comments posted in certain threads I thought that it would be a good idea to post a thank-you "note" on the forums thanking all devs and helpfull people working on this already great device to make it even better.
I bought the one x knowing it to be able powerfull device but once I got it I pretty much satisfied with it except all the bloat att put on it and even worse there was no way to get it off. So that began my journey looking for a way to free my device from its useless load and I happened to have stumbled upon xda-developers just at the right time when xfactor was being released. I Immediately rooted via the help of all the wonderful folks on these forums. A few days later I installed viper xl and was blown away by the level of customizability of the Rom. Later I installed beastmode and overclocked up to 1.8 ghz. Now I had my dream machine....no bloat ,blazing fast, super stable.. There have been a few ups and downs and "oh what do I do now. I hope I haven't bricked my phone" moments but it always turned out ok and now I have a setup I'll never want to get rid of. I don't have any money to donate to anyone, but if I did I would, because it all happened because of them. Anyway typing this llong of a message on the phone is a pain so let me end it here. Thanks guys keep up the work.

Only people who get flamed around here are those who refuse to do their own reading and research, or who flash international roms when they should know better.
