Transformer screen light bleed - Eee Pad Transformer Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I am thinking about sending in my transformer for RMA. My warranty ends in a couple months and I have had some obvious light bleeding from the bottom, and a little on the side if my screen. My question is, has anyone sent in their tablet to Asus for this problem? If so, did they actually fix it? Or did they replace it? Also how long was the turnaround from sending it to getting it back? Thanks in advance.

My screen is messing up

so the right side of my screen is not working in one spot from top to bottom. If I push my Vol down or even squeeze the side under the Vol button it will select a widget. Does anyone know why it might be doing this or if it's an easy fix Or not. I got a app from the market that test's where you touch the screen and were it's not working it says I'm touching it on both sides of where I am touching it. It also shows the screen freaking out when I push on the right side

Sounds like digitizer is fail. Not a simple fix but can be done. Warranty or insurance ? Use it.
Thanks so that should be a warranty issue VZW should replace at no cost I'm assuming?
Edit: yup warranty issue new phone in a few days

Screen Flicker

So, I just bought the tablet today, and I really like it, minus a rather strange issue.
I read about the firmware update to .29 that would resolve the screen flickering issue, but when running the firmware update out of the box I am now on .30, and the screen still flickers.
I have played around with settings and such, but I haven't found a way to get rid of the flickering, even on the latest firmware. Is there a way to resolve this? Perhaps flashing the .29 firmware when in recovery, and if so how do I do that?
And it is not just specifically the "flicker from the left side of the left side of the screen" issue. It seems to happen all over the place, it is really noticeable in the app drawer, all the icons flicker like the image is unstable.

Hi, I just got mine as well. I had some weird flickering issues which I managed to get rid of by turning off the auto-brightness setting. HTH.
No that didn't help...in fact that seemed to make it worse. I am starting to wonder if its a hardware defect. I do have two weeks to exchange it.

Try doing a factory reset. If that doesn't work return it for an exchange.

Tf700t screen banding issues.

Hey guys,
I've had my tablet now for a few months and my screen just got a black horizontal line 1px wide and about a little less than half way down the screen. Its there as soon as my screen starts up.
I've tried rebooting, cold reboots, clearing cache by going into the boot menu. My fear is that when I was trying to root it initially I unlocked it by mistake I've heard this voids my warranty. Not sure if this is related but I was running Myboy a gameboy advanced emulator when the line appeared. Thanks!!

Try factory restore. If that doesn't work, you will have to RMA.
Your warranty is void once you unlock the tablet so you will have to pay for the repairs unless you have warranty with Squaretrade.
Drat that's what I was afraid of... Thanks for your help. Would you by chance know roughly what it would cost? I'm guessing like labor and a new screen?

No idea how much repairs are for replacing the display. Probably in the range of 150-200? Hell they can charge you 300$...
This reviewer also had the black lines that randomly appeared on the screen as she was comparing the tablets...
http://www.transformerforums.com/fo...sion/27093-lines-across-infinity-display.html
Skip to 3:35 and watch the lines just appear out of no where.
She wrote "our 32 day old Transformer TF700's display quit on us during this smackdown, with two black lines (white and blue when viewing a black background) appeared across the display. Rebooting the tablet didn't fix the problem, nor did a factory restore. After the problems with the Transformer Prime, I'm not feeling warm and fuzzy as I send it the TF700 in for an RMA repair. "
This probably happened to you too.
How old is the tablet? If it's under 60 days of purchase, you can get a Squaretrade warranty for 100$ (70$ with 30% coupon) and they will repair it for you.
I just checked my order Ive just had it over 1 month. Thanks for the info about square trade Ill look into it.

Incredibly annoying touchscreen problem

Right, could anyone tell me the problem here? My touchscreen has become crap recently. It's really frustrating now, so much so that i find myself punching the screen! (not too hard though, lol).Usually i'm docked, but even then i use the touchscreen and sometimes it doesn't respond to any input. At other times, it recognises some random input not by me. Like whilst i'm in the browser, i can scroll down properly at times because it starts zooming in or something. It didn't happen a lot initially. but i'm noticing it a lot recently. I asked ASUS and they just told me to factory reset but backup my data. When i asked how, they sent me the entire manual. Could it be a hardware problem? If so, would it be better to get it replaced from where it was bought or to just send it to ASUS?
THANKS for any responses.

I have the same problem. I haven't found any fix yet, the only work around I've found is to turn off the screen. After I turn it on again the problem is gone. I'll try and use a touchscreen tester app when the screen goes crazy again. The random touches seems to be concentrated on the upper right corner of the screen. I doubt that it's hardware problem though.
Yeah, that worked for me sometimes but other times it didn't. Trying a factory reset now.

A factory reset seems to have fixed it for me. Tablet also seems smoother. Chrome is still a bit crap though. I backed up my apps using ASUS app backup.
EDIT: rebooted my tablet afterwards whilst docked and somehow my old wallpaper came back. However, the tablets gone back to performing wose now...

Off topic, but does anyone know how to get my email to check it's inbox automatically without me having to open the app each time? I mean the Asus stock email app. Last I checked, i always have to start the app after which it checks the inbox. I'd rather it be done in the background so i get live updates. Thanks for any help

I has similar issues with my first TF300. I exchanged it for a new one and had no problems. I would probably just exchange the one you've got. My second TF300 had sound issues, and I held on to it past the exchange period and had to send it in to ASUS for repair. They had it for over a month. Should have just exchanged that one also.

Above question and it seems that the touchscreen problem is back. Really don't understand. It can't be a hardware issue if it goes after a factory reset surely?

I flashed CM10, and the issues seems to be gone.
I don't want to be flashing ROM's yet. I think the problem only occur when i'm docked which is strange although i may be mistaken

Touch Screen - Digitizer Problem

Out of nowhere today, I started having problems with my screen. When I press the left middle of the screen, it shows me pressing 2 inches above that. My keyboard in that area, is non responsive, and when I'm in apps and trying to navigate, it gets all haywire on me.
Is their a way to get it calibrated? To stop the intermittent failure of my screen in certain areas.?

Is this happening with power connected or without?
Saw a neat clip once of the screen's different feedback between connected and not. When was connected to power, user showed how his touch input resulted in erroneous touch all over the place.
Sent from my ADR6400L using xda app-developers app
At first I thought it was during connection. But now it happens intermittently with other without power. When I called Asus. They said it's the "Digitizer" I'm under warranty, but If theirs a fix we can do on our own, I'm all for it.

Unfortunately, it probably is hardware-not software related. Get a RMA and send it in....
If you want to narrow it down some more, you could enable"show touches" in Developer Options.
But I doubt that it would help...

That's exactly what I did, to know that when I touch one spot on the screen, it showed the actual touch, two inches above where I was actually pressing. What's maddening is, it doesn't happen all the time. Just different times throughout the day.

Hopefully forum will let me post this link (still a new born here).
This is the video I saw, though I now see it is for the prime, but anyways take a look at the symptoms he had, and try and find that app he loaded, maybe can help you narrow problem down...

It does sound like a hardware issue with the digitizer. Sending it in might be the only way to know for sure and to fix it. It is under warranty, so you won't be charged anything. Try doing a full factory reset first before sending it, though. There could be small chance that it fixes it that way.
