I'm still within my 30 days for my tf300, and I have to return it because of a piece of dust stuck under the display glass. I also bought the tf300 dock and find it quite useful. Im thinking of going for the tf700. But If I get the TF700, I dont think i'll be able to afford the dock. Has anyone hear tried both tabs and know if the difference is worth sacrificing the dock?
The pixelated look of the tf300 screen does kinda bother me a little.

Well since I bought the dock with the tab, I could easily use the refund money for the tf300 dock to buy the infinity dock, but I would need that refund money too buy the infinity. The price of the full infinity and dock package is too much for this starving college student.
i dont understand why youre switching...the only real advantage youre getting is HD screen. the rest of the specs are negligeable

"Only"? In my opinion the display is one of the most important things in a tablet. Or a phone for a that matter.

First things first: you are right in that the TF300 dock IS NOT compatible with the TF700 tablet! Do not heed the other poster telling you so, you will be in trouble. It was clear you knew that, but I thought I'd chime in on behalf of the less informed visiting this thread with the same question you had.
More on-topic: the keyboards are essentially the same as far as ergonomics go, so in that respect, so it'd be a matter of asking yourself if you'd miss the keyboard of the TF300 if I broke in in two on my knee at this very moment. If not, you won't miss it on the TF700. (I would, as I like the hard keyboard very much.)
As far as the screen is concerned: it's wonderful. Can;t really say anything more than that; you will absolutely notice a difference.
I cannot imagine where the reviewers who said there is not a noticeable difference between 1280x7.. and 1900x1200 gathered that from -- have they actually compared even the desktops? Sheesh.
I am definately one for high resolutions. I am trying my tf300 out without the dock, and I can get used to it. It is harder though and I can't type as much as if I had a hard keyboard.
Since a tablet is basically a touchscreen connected to an SoC package, the higher resolution does justify paying more for the pad itself.
The other thing to take into consideration is the boatloader. I know it seems weird to make that a deciding factor, but you do pay a lot for it and its a pretty serious device, so you'd expect an unlockable bootloader to be standard. (that and since I'm a CompE student, tampering is definately on my last of things to do with the device). ASUS hasn't released one yet for this tab. (I'm sure they will though)

Well, I think I'd go for the TF700, then, if I'd were you. The resolution indeed is superb, and the unlocked bootloader undoubtedly will be available in a few weeks. And as I said, I love the keyboard, though I wouldn't fancy typing longer reports or essays on it -- but that time lies in my (to my feeling already somewhat distant) past. ; )
Well after trying my tf300 for a while without the keyboard dock, I snapped them back together, and the difference is night and day. I have to choose between one great feature or the other, but not both. At least with the TF700 I can always get the dock later. Upgrading the screen is not quite as easy.

Is there a return policy for your dock? If so, you can probably just exchange it for the correct one.
I'd exchange it for insurance reasons.
I'm just thinking if something dock related went wrong with your (very expensive top of the line) tablet, and you were using the wrong dock, you warranty would be void, and you would be out of luck.
Plus the correct dock would look and fit better.

Well, if it fits.... it... .errrmm.... fits.
All kidding aside, I do think the battery in the TF201/700 dock is more powerful, but I'd have to look that one up to be sure. I believe the connectors are essentially the same, although the placement might be off a bit -- since that didn't stop you from docking the tablet, I wouldn't mind too much. The Prime's dock is compatible with recent firmware, even if slightly off-color, but I do not know what the specific reasoning was behind the TF300's not being compatible (except for the thickness of the tablet, and the resulting lack of "hinge fit").

THANK YOU. My wife dropped her Prime so I'm going to hand her down my TF300 but I couldn't stand the though of loosing my keyboard as I've grown quite accustomed to it when traveling. I was on the fence and not having to drop another $150 on the dock is the deciding factor. TF700 here I come.
PS Anyone looking to buy a 201 with a cracked screen. Dig works....
I tried my tf700 in a tf300 dock. It works but the fit is terrible. The tf300 is thicker than the tf700. I would reccomend selling your tf300 dock on ebay, and buying a prime or infinity dock with the money.
Hi,
I got a tf700t and i bought a tf300t dock as there were no other docks and it looked asit wworkks. The dock fits ok (slightly loose) , and the keyboard works ok and is detected by the tablet as (DOCK EC20N 0207). But when docked the dock does not seem to charge the tablet. The tablet battry depleets andthe taab turns off while the dock reminsat 97% charge.
Anybody else having this? Or is my doock broken?

Lot of negative comments on this forum. For those of us still on the fence who have been holding off - is there anything else out there that DOES meet everyones lofty requirements?
I've been thinking about the a700. I've seen it and used it and liked the screen, but haven't been able to compare to the TF700 screen. Anyone used both - pros and cons - know about the heat issue - had an a510 and disabled antivirus and never had any heat issues in normal use so not too concerned about that. The a700 has much better speakers as well.
Also just purchased a Toshiba Excite 7.7 - best tablet I have ever owned - insanely good Super amoled screen. Any Excite 7.7 owners that have used a TF700 and have compared the two screens - I'm doubting I could get used to anything else after using the Super amoled - but am still tempted by the TF700's super IPS+.
Don't buy Acer. Get the nexus 7 if you're low on money.
Prior to purchasing Transformer Infinity I did lots of google search everday to see what's the review like for transformer infinity. You will find many Iconia a700 reviews referring to TF700, and pretty much all I saw was a700 is not quite as good as TF700 except the price. Supposedly it gets really warm, everything lags, heavier etc.

Money is no concern. Bought the Excite 7.7 which is arguably the most overpriced tablet out there - paying for a Super Amoled + screen and Tegra 3 quad core.
Just interested in the best tablet available.
And don't buy Acer - could you qualify that with a because....
The nexus 7 is having quite a few problems - their forum is as negative as the Infinity.

Thought about that too - ipad Retina display and crapple OS vs Excite 7.7 Super Amoled vs TF700 Super IPS+ vs Acer a700 with 1080p and superior speakers and the winnner is.....
See that's where I get stuck....
Really curious to hear from those who have owned both the a700 and the TF700
Really don't like the mono speakers on ASUS tablets. I have a TF300 - louder than the transformer prime - but still lopsided and mono. Wondering, if the screens are similar, why the Acer with better speakers is not a viable choice. Or does the Super IPS+ screen so outclass the a700 screen that its worth sacrificing decent speakers? As for Acer quality - not hearing great things about ASUS quality either these days so......

If money is not an option buy them all and try them all out at the same time for the 30 or 45 day return period. Then pick your winner. I used to do that but it takes up a lot of time and stressful.
I still think the TF700 will be the winner as long as they get fixes out quickly.

I have both the Acer a700 and the Asus TF700 in front of me right now. I have had the Acer a couple weeks and I'm on the second one. The Acer has a very nice screen in fact one of the best I have seen until I got the Asus yesterday. It makes the Acer screen seem dull. I have heat problems with the Acer and it seems to lock up so I have to shut down frequently and restart.
I like the sound on the Acer along with the rubber backing make it easy to hold but all in all I like the Asus better. It's not as laggy as the Acer and it doesn't get near as hot. It lighter and a little faster. I don't like the big connector for charging sticking out of the bottom but I think its one nice tablet and match that with a dock and you have a long lasting battery.
That said the Acer is going back and I'm keeping the Asus. I hope the JB update will make it even better.
Here is a video doing a comparison of the Acer with the Asus 300T. Guess who won that battle....
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eWOKpOPaZbU
I believe in CNET's reviews when they talk about the bad of a product, so if you're like me and don't want to waste your time look at my signature to see how lag the A700 is.
Hey guys, I've owned both these tablets and though i will put my two cents in
First off, my clear winner here is the infinity tab. Most of the complaints on this form are not particularly about the hardware, more app comp ability issues and such. It is a brand new Android tablet, so expect a little time before Asus can release a firmware update, they usually do (based on past history of Asus tablets). Because of that, I can forgive the few basic glitches I have run into. Let me break it down though:
The Acer does get very warm. Not hot, but very very warm. A little bit warmer than the Ipad 3. Not to hard to forgive considering most people would get a case or some protection for it (it really only emits heat from the lower right side of the tablet). However, where the Acer really loses my vote, and why I returned it, is the hardware. Yes; it has a 1080p screen, but you have DDR2 ram and only 1.3ghz processing capabilities, so because of having to push that full HD, its my belief that it just cant keep up sometimes. The Asus has DDR3 (clocked higher as well) and 1.6ghz processing (I've overclocked to 1.8 ghz) so it tends to be able render things better. Asus also puts in better firmware built in. Overall, the Asus is the winner!!

O...M...G... I'm really starting to feel you should save up some dollars by stopping taking those drugs and get yourself an anally-inclined prostitute, or a rubber doll.
The real downside to the A700 is the heat issue, or lack of heat dissipation, since the Asus can get as hot but not show it as apparent. The Acer has a much better sound system then the awful TF700 mono speaker (why Asus, why?) which is fairly important for a multimedia device. Yes, the Acer is clocked less but it appears the Asus is also having a hard time keeping up which points to the Android system needing some high res tweaking. The real setback will be the community... The Asus will have alot of support built around it while the Acer doesn't seem to have attracted many developer inclined people. This is mostly due to the panned reviews, and the overshadow that the Infinity and mostly the Nexus 7 has cast over it. It's still a good tablet for those that are less demanding which are mostly people not affiliated with this website. I have one and will stick with it since it works for what I need it for which is web surfing, watching movies and listening to music... And yes, that guy is highly annoying and played out already.
Another former A700 owner here, now running with an Infinity.
I too, will back up the feedback that other "dual owners" here have given. I really wanted to love the A700, but the heat issues made it unusable for me. Were the speakers better on the A700? Yes. Did the A700 subjectively feel rock solid? Yes. Did the A700's screen look damn good? Yes.
But the TF700 is stable. The TF700's screen looks better to my eyes. And the TF700 doesn't get insanely hot after what should be normal usage conditions (i.e. gaming).
I'll keep it short.... Get the asus TF700T.
It has been said before and i agree 100%! My Acer A700 has also been send back to the store it came from(because of the heat issue and reboots).

If you go to any forums with a new product, you will come away leaving negative, because people only post when they have issues. They are not going to sit and post all day about how much they love their tablets.
I was surprised to hear you say that about the Nexus 7. I own one and couldn't be happier. If you go to the forums looking to see what issues there are, you will definitely come away feeling negative as well.
Even on this forum, I skimmed through (my tf700 is on the way) and did not see "real" issues, nothing like the weak wifi/no GPS fiasco of the prime which is "hardware". The i/o thing seems to only affect people in very certain situations and imho is overblown. Even then I think it is fixable.
When looking for issues, I look for hardware issues and limitations.
For example, from the reviews I have read, the A700 is just a A501 with 1080p screen. The problem is that it uses the same toned down version of the tegra3. Thus, reviews complained about how sluggish it sometimes is, especially for a tegra 3. That's something I don't hink they can ever totally "fix". If they overclock it more, the heat issue witll be worse.
I know the 7.7 screen AMOLED must look nice but what is the dpi on that thing. It should be slightly worse than nexus 7 and tf700. Not as bad as the 768p 10" inchers or ipad1/2 though. For me once I stared at the Nexus 7 screen with its dpi and web surfed on it, I could not go back to my tf300 anymore (as much as I loved it), and returned it to get an Infinity.
I am about to buy a Transformer Infinity. I know why I WANT to buy it, but I thought I'll Ask some owners for reasons for why I would NOT want to buy it

The Infinity is still relatively new, but there is already quite a bit of development going on with it here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=1665
As far as official support, such as bug fixes or updates, Asus generally seems to be better and at least faster to get updates out than other manufacturers.
Customer support, however, is a different matter. I haven't dealt with Asus support directly, but there are ample reports about it's horrible quality. For example: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1830473&highlight=asus+support
Likewise, Asus' quality control is pretty lax. There are a lot of tablets with issues that never should have passed standard QA checks.
Another related note: they also seem to be selling rebranded TF201 docks as "new" TF700 docks: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1810592&highlight=tf700+dock
All things considered though, I'm happy with the Infinity overall. I will accompany that with the caveat that I am in fact getting a replacement for my Infinity and dock from Amazon due to some dust under my screen in a very annoying location (right in the center) and because some keys on the dock started registering incorrectly.
Its a good tablet, but its not without its flaws. I'd still pick one up, as Asus is very good about software updates and our dev community is starting to ramp up so we'll get our custom roms.
Some issues that people have had:
-Quality control is very hit or miss
-You're going to have light bleed. Most tablets have it light enough that its only noticeable while booting though, once in Android it goes away.
-Internal flash storage is relatively slow, causing some occasional performance hiccups. If the Prime is any indication, custom roms will easily work around the issue.
-Asus's tech support staff are complete crap that'll insist on RMAing your device even for the most trivial issues.
-Some devices wont receive updates or unlock their bootloader, although in most cases both start working after a few weeks.
Just make sure you get one that's physically well built, and you should like it.
Thank you very much
I was also considering the iPad 3 because I'm yet to see an iOS device lag....
but I swore I would NEVER buy apple
What do you thing is a better option?
You have the the Wifi version of the Infinity, right? Is there a big difference in performance?
Thx again
I'd wait a while
My advice...
If possible wait before buying.
Don't jump in like I did.
I did get a later non buggy Infinity that has no build problems.
The performance of the tablet is what I would say is stellar compared to most of the previous incarnations.
Yet there is competition on the horizon that just might blow the Infinity out of the water.
I ran out and bought the Acer A700 because it was the latest thing and ended up severely disappointed.
So then I jumped over to the Infinity and have been pleased.
If you are a true blue power user\tinkerer the Asus may be good, yet you may be much happier with a later model
10 inch tab that ships with android 4.1 jellybean.
I'll bet the hardware in the upcoming tabs will give the 'ole iPad a real run for the finish line.
As far as the this or that choice...to me it boils down to an OS preference.
I wouldn't make sense for anyone on here to recommend apple over droid.
Probably best to not even bring it up...
I have a Asus Prime currently in limbo between Asus and FEDEX for about a month now trying to get it replaced. Long story short. Prime broke (poor quality), sent it to texas service center. 1/2 week later got it back. Service center screwed up the packing, FEDEX destroyed my tablet on delivery. Submitted and claim, 30 days later still waiting. Got tired of waiting, bought the infinity.
Asus seems to have learned their lessons from the Prime, so for me the Infinity works like what I expected the prime to be. Flawless.
If you're into customization and tinkering then this is the tablet for you. The only negative I have to say is Asus as a company they are very schizophrenic. They seem to have good customer support, their response time is good, they are polite and they want to do right by the customer but the end result is unsatisfactory. The Prime should have been recalled, but instead they released band aids to problems that only made things worst. But they tried to do good for the customer. Which is why I ended up buying another Asus product. I just hope I don't come to regret my decision later on.
There's not that many options right now anyways, if you want the most powerful tablet released you either get the ipad 3 or the infinity. My vote is on the infinity, just make sure you get insurance.
Thank you very much for your help guys just a few more things...

Also is there a considerable drop in Performance in the 3G version compared to the Wifi version?

Yes its very sensitive. The digitizer on the Infinity is really good. Regarding the HandStylus, I don't see why it shouldn't work. It looks like a normal capacitive stylus with just a smaller tip. As far as the 3g version I don't believe its out on the market yet.

I use my Infinity for quite a bit of work. One thing I found is that I use the device docked with the keyboard more than I do as an actual tablet. When sitting at a table or even on the couch I'm able to bang out e-mail, XLS files or word docs with little or no effort. Even when not using the keyboard, just having it there gives a very stable stand to hold the device in a comfortable position. I'm not even considering a sleeve anymore to protect the device, since just folding the keyboard up will protect the screen. Honestly, I didn't think I would use it this way... figured they dock was going to be a novelty accessory. It has truly transformed (pun intended) this thing into something that is really productive. Not sure what kind of school work you will be using your tablet for, but this is something you might want to consider.
I own one and I think it's great.. I honestly can't think of a reason why you shouldn't get it.. In addition, there are plenty of stable OS that you can put on the tablet once you root it; plus, you have more options you can enact on the tablet, which wouldn't be possible on the iPad.

I second Garys opinion. My transformer has become my sole computing device at home, with my desktop being used as a file storage.
The keyboard dock is essential for school.
FWIW, I finally bought a gray Infinity after being without my OG Transformer since last AUG and tiring of the wait for a champagne unit. (Tried a Prime for about 36 hours -- it was such a POS that I returned it for a refund.) The gray Infinity has been in production long enough to work out assembly issues, if Asus plans to correct them at all.
I bought from Amazon, which has excellent customer service and return policies. I should receive the unit today. If there are build issues, I'll exchange no more than twice (which, not coincidentally, is the limit of Amazon's exchange policy). If I can't find a good unit among three, I'll just return it and wait for the Samsung P10 or a Surface tab.
Heck, if the P10 is as killer as specs suggest, I'll probably eBay the Infinity anyway. But I've done without a tablet for so long -- and the keyboard dock for my Droid Bionic is a poor substitute -- that I gotta try something.

You have the the Wifi version of the Infinity, right? Is there a big difference in performance?

I first tried the tf300 because it has the jb update but went to the infinity for its display. Once it gets jb you won't see lag any longer with it. I also tried the new ipad but returned it quickly, ios just too boring for me.

Same. You can change the wallpaper and that's it.
Big thanks to everyone who helped, but you can only press the "Thanks" button once
I've had some trouble trying to find it in South Asia... guess I'll have to wait a bit longer
I sold my galaxy note 10.1 for buying the infinity. It wasnt any problems with the note. I read alot, and i find the resolution is a major let down for me. The screen have a superb quality on images, but on text its not quite good as a high resolution screen.
Ive followed a bit on this forum. Seems like this pad got so many problems. Are you satisfied with your infinty? Should I wait for the next pad?

Probably would wait that Samsung brings some high res non plastic out. Asus has lost my confidence in them
I love it.
I bought mine 5 weeks ago and have no regrets. I use it every day. Even though there are some problems, they aren't show-stoppers. The Infinity is, in my book, still the best tablet. The issues will be ironed out - if not by Asus, then by our own developers. If you're OCD and your tablet has to be perfect, keep looking... check back in the next month or two and see how the TF700 is with Jelly Bean. I'm enjoying the heck out of mine and love knowing that it'll only get better and better. Just my 2 cents.
You get a FHD screen and dock. You also get less stability and some questionable design choices with the terrible ssd nand and below average battery life due to the tegra 3 and fhd screen. Apple had the sense to use a better dedicated gpu and almost double the battery size for the fhd screen.
The tf700 does a lot of things fine but it has been a trial in patience. My tf300 had much better performance. The tf700 should've had an upgraded gpu, battery, and sad. It got none if these things. They seemed to spend all their time fixing the mistakes of the prime and did not anticipate issues with introducing a fhd screen.

I chose the Infinity over the Note for the same reason, the FHD and the fact I read a lot. I am satisfied with it. You're in a good position now to decide this for yourself since the issues are mostly known already. I've not had quality issues, so far, but performance is lower than that of the Note. Would I still buy it again today? Yes, I think so. I upgraded from a Nook Color (on CM7) and since getting the Infinity I've been spending a ton of hours on it and enjoy it so much that I can't see myself returning it and just waiting (or going with lower res). If you have another tablet you're OK with as a stop gap then maybe wait, if not then go for it and enjoy it. In 2 years time we're likely to upgrade anyway and it's not like it's a pain to use now, it's just not as perfect as one would hope from a flagship product.
Another option is to wait for JB and decide then, that is if you feel you can't stomach the current reported performance / stability issues (which I seldom come across personally).
Go for it! Don't worry about the reports of the "horrible SSD", etc - the tablet runs fine... Some people put way too much stock in benchmark results.
The majority of users don't have 2gb files downloading in the background while trying to do other work, so the "SSD slowness" isn't even noticeable for most people.
Jelly Bean is supposed to be released very soon as well, so that should also boost performance. I have a Nexus 7, which is also manufactured by Asus (with the same "horrible" SSD) and it runs beautifully. I expect the TF700 performance to be similar to the Nexus 7 with Jelly Bean...
I would, however, recommend buying at a local retailer if possible - Asus quality control has been really bad on the TF700, so there is a chance that you may need to exchange it once or twice before getting a "good" one...
Besides, if you find you don't like it, you can always return it....

Feel the same way, Infinity might be Aluminum but it's made so terribly with the separating glass and cheap internal memory that is believed to be the reason this, otherwise great tablet, has i/o issues.
Just get it! The more you read the more you let others control your thinking and provides the haters sway your thinking. Unless that's what your looking for, its a great tablet. I love the keyboard combo and battery life is superb for someone that watches movies and shows daily. FULL HD is a must! Super IPS+ can't be beat. I rarely have to charge my tablet either. I'm not a hater, I'm just saying the Infinity could be better than it is and I think it's worth waiting for something else. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy the tab especially now with browser2ram but it's definitely got a LOT of issues.
The biggest annoyance is that I have to restart the tab almost daily if I want to play Dead Trigger, also Asus left out the drivers for the PS3 controller so you NEED to root if you want to use one over bluetooth as opposed to every other ics device. The battery should have been bigger, I've drained it in sub 4 hours before from 100 to 3% playing Jelly Defense. Granted, that's a lot of Jelly Defense but it should last longer than that. The i/o issues is the biggest thing, browsing on this tab with Chrome is unbearable at best. Two things make it a lot better to browse on, Dolphin Pad beta and the browser2ram apk although the latter of which only works with the default browser.
Again, I don't hate the Infinity and I enjoy using it everyday but it cost a good amount of money and it's frustrating that Asus cut corners and it shows. Asus customer service also seems like it leaves a lot to be desired.
Somehow i feel like I shouldn't sell my note. It has absolute no problems. no lag, no hickups, no force close, fast browser, a very good pen, it made of plastic but feels very solid, i accidental dropped it once and it got no scratches, no damages where made. Man i wish samsung made a tablet with hd+ screen.
Btw, I bought the infinity over internet, the store got 45 days with full right to return if you are not satisfied. Finger cross that this tablet wont make any problem for me.
Re: Some of the points brought up here.
Battery life: From my perspective, this thing has fantastic battery life. I manage my resources pretty well, though. With the dock, it goes into unprecedented territory, I can use the system all day long on a full dock+tab charge.
Usage: If your primary application is reading, I don't think you're going to see many problems in the way of stability and you will find the screen wonderful and highly usable.
Stability: This is a tough one. If you want something that is super stable without any maintenance/tweaking/learning, yes, look elsewhere. My system as I have configured it only really has frequent problems with 3D games and that is due to a kernel graphics driver bug that has a fix coming out with the next OS update (so I am hopeful this one last issue will be fixed). Using this tab as a daily driver, I do not really have any major issues at this point, it's as stable and usable as any other android device I have owned except for the gaming problem.
Storage: The slow RAM everyone is complaining about here is nand flash that functions like a virtual hard disk. The actual system memory is perfectly functional dynamic RAM. The end result of this is that sometimes, this slow "disk" will act as a bottleneck and make the entire tab slow down. Honestly, the only time I see much of this is when running benchmarks, LOL. My ADHD is not so bad that I want to throw the tablet against a wall if there is a 300 millisecond pause when performing some operation. So, yeah, I DO think this is a weakness and a poor design choice by ASUS' engineers but in practice it is rarely a real world issue for me.
QA: Some folks have had some legitimately serious issues but I think a huge majority of the stuff that is cited here could have been mitigated by buying at a brick and mortar store with a decent return policy. I have not seen any hardware defect on the tablets I have owned that could not be indentified and exchanged within a 24 hour period. On a forum where people are coming to look for help, you're going to hear the horror stories so while I feel sorry for these folks I do not think some of these issues are super high frequency.
If you don't have that kind of safety net available in your purchasing situation, then, yes, I would be concerned about physical defects in a TF tab and would recommend avoiding one. But if you are able to buy it at a decent place like Best Buy, etc, you will find a good one and you will not get burned by this with the caveat that you may have to be patient enough to evaluate/inspect and return one.
Bottom Line: It's a great tab, the dock is amazing, the screen is glorious, the CPU is ridiculously fast. It has some minor stability issues that require a bit of learning configuring tweaking. It has slow I/O that can sometimes unnecessarily throttle the CPU, so if you are going to download torrents or surf high bandwidth adult web sites it may not be for you LOL . Since ASUS QA has been weak I would also only recommend purchasing in a situation where an exchange can be handled easily.
FWIW, there's no tab out right now I would trade it for.

That's good your not a hater. Honestly every tablet you will come across will have issues. NOTE, IPADS, TRANSFORMERS. I can also sit here and advise others to wait for the next best thing but that kind of mentality will just prevent you from enjoying the now. The now is the Infinity.

I also just returned my Note 10.1 for the Infinity. I really liked the Note for the s-pen and all, but I quickly found that i never used it for what it was for. For me the tablet is a consumption device and to be used as a mobile solution for my online classes. The Infinity does this very well, and the screen resolution is more noticeable than i expected.
So far very happy with the Infinity.

I'm aware you could sit and always be waiting for the next best thing and that thing will never come. I just think, now knowing Asus cheaped out, it's worth waiting for something else. Maybe Jelly Bean will fix a lot of the issues I have with this thing and my opinion will change, not sure. I hope it does
Having said all of that, the screen does kick an insurmountable amount of ass. It's just downright gorgeous.

I had Galaxy note for 3 weeks and returned it for Infinity. I had infinity before note... and essentially came back because of screen resolution.
If you can wait, you should wait. Simply as others said, longer you wait better system always show up. That's the world of technology. But I doubt nothing that replace Infinity in next a few months for following reasons:
1. Samsung - Just released Note. If they release the higher resolution tablet or even announce about higher resolution tablet within next couple months, that is horrible thing as they will lose its own sales from Note and upset consumer who purchased one. Not only Note, but also they have Windows 8 tablet coming in end of October with high resolution screen but price tag of $1100+. So again, I don't think they want to compete with that either.
2. ASUS - Similar story. They just released infinity and probably purposely made upcoming Windows 8 tablet HD screen rather than FHD, so they won't compete with Infinity. And therefore, again highly doubtful they will be releasing anything new that is complete superior to the infinity within next few months.
Other vendors are similar like Sony and Acer just released their tablets as well.
The uncertain zone is Windows tablet from other vendors; however, among the currently announced windows tablet including from ASUS, Samsung, Acer, Dell, Microsoft (I may be missing some), there is only one with Full HD, which is Samsung's Ativ Smart Pro but this model again costs $1100 but its battery life is 5 hours of DVD play. So to me this proves that most likely all Full HD windows tablet that is coming in near future will be around the same price and likely with poor battery life for a while.
So yeah, basically if you are looking for full HD tablet you won't have much choice for next a few months. But I am sure by the time next iPad rumor start to arise, you see more Android tablet.
*I excluded Kindle HD here, because I simply don't think they are in same class but if you think they are your option, that's another option.
As for my experience, Infinity is much more stable than before for me and the only reason I initially gave up on infinity was too frequent ANR, and too slow browser loading time. Both of which I got it fixed (well ANR is probably not what I did but by firmware). So yes. this is indeed my ideal tablet at the moment.
I just bought my infinity a couple of days ago and I can't be happier. I use it for some ebooks, as I'm a Dr. of Physical Therapy student and the ebooks are MUCH cheaper.
I haven't used the Note, but what sold me on the infinity is how it essentially works like a "netbook" and it has actually replaced my netbook. I only wish there was a better microsoft office app, the app that came pre-loaded isn't the best, but it works.

When yuo say you rarely have to charge it, how often is that?
After using mine for reading comics, a few podcasts and tv, web browsing, i find I'm getting 3.5/ 4 hous which is pretty ****.
I have had a my TF201 for a few months and love it. I got the GPS dongle coz I could but don't really use GPS and for me the WiFi seems to work OK (but not exceptionally)
I am now thinking of selling the TF201 and replacing it with the Infinity but I am a bit worried about reports of flimsy screen attachments and power/volume buttons etc. I don't have any of these issues with my TF201 but as I am planning to buy from overseas it would be a pain if the Infinity turned out to be one with manufacturing defects.
I am just wondering whether ASUS have addressed some of these issues and maybe later ones have less issues?
I did have a dock on my TF201 but I am unsure whether I will bother doing the same with the Infinity as I found that I did not use it that much and probably an onscreen keyboard would do. I can always buy a TF700 keyboard later if I miss it too much
First off, the TF201 dock is compatible with the TF700 -- I have one attached and it was retailed by ASUS this way. That would eliminate the need to buy something else "specifically made" for the 700. (You do not even have to take my word for this, as there is a picture-laden breakdown of both "types" (read: labels) of docks somewhere in here.)
Secondly, I strongly doubt there is anything like a "current" vs. an "old" build of the Infinity. That doesn't have to be a bad thing in itself... As has been said before, by both myself and many others: any internet presence is always negatively biased, as the people having no issues -- or, if I may put it slightly more bluntly, are not looking for issues --are just out there sitting in the shade with a funny cocktail watching whatever HD it is they watch on their 700s. I'd wager this is a large part of the TF700 buyers. We're far more critical users than the average buyer, who is probably just blown away by the performance, doesn't know better and doesn't need to.
I, for one, would happily buy again, in terms of both software performance (when unlocked/rooted/CleanROM'ed) and hardware build quality.
I must admit, I was reluctant to buy my tab based on the negative reviews I was reading. I finally took the plunge and couldn't be happier. I have zero complaints about build quality, and my only minor gripe is the I/O performance, which isn't that bed when considering overall performance...
My tab has C80 serial number, but I'm not sure it's relevant...
All positive here.
CleanROM user also.
Build quality has been fine for me.
Of course, anyone saying it's flimsy, would proclaim it was too bulky and heavy if it was not the light weight product it is. I prefer light over bulky. Some folks, you can never please them...
Very Happy
I had a 201 before changing over to the 700. The 700 is what the 201 should have been in the first place. The internet is so much better, and the overall performance is so much improved. With Jelly Bean, any concerns I might had had or over. Just very happy with my tablet!
Issues???

By "Issues" I have seen reports of creaky, loose glass screens, flimsy power on & volume buttons(compared to TF201) and screen cracking because the dock does not appear to close properly in some instances
I thought that ASUS might have taken this on board and maybe tightened manufacturing to overcome the loose screen glass...which probably contributes to some of the broken screens
As you say it is usually the ones with the issues that will post to these forums and there do not appear to be too many complaints given the high numbers of units that must now be out there.

You might want to see if Best Buy can help. I've heard stories of taking their TF201 into Best Buy without a receipt or anything and Best Buy will basically "exchange" it for a TF700. I believe Best Buy and Asus have teamed up to offer some sort of "buy back" program for the TF201 since it was basically a faulty device (wifi & GPS issues).
You may want to see if Best Buy can help before trying to sell it and taking a huge loss...

With my luck that would be the case...except I am in New Zealand and its a bit far from here to the closest Best Buy. One thing you guys in the USA have going for you is your Consumer Guarantee Laws. Manufacturers seem more afraid of Class Actions in USA than other parts of the world and more willing to come to the aid of the consumer.
I won't take too big a hit if I sell it as I have set my price a tad below what I bought it for (in New Zealand) and I can import a 700 for not a lot more direct from USA.I can write off any loss against my tax as I bought it as a company "computer"
If I don't get my price then I'll hang on to it a bit longer as I am quite happy with it in general but thought it would be nice to upgrade if possible.
