Hi,
I've got a problem with the headphone in. When i connect headphones, it works as it should. The problem is when I disconnect the headphones. The symbol indicating that there are still headphones connected, stays in my status bar. So my H1S thinks my headphones are still connected, which is very annoying because for example, my audio isn't working anymore so I can't hear anyone that's calling me.
So how can I solve this problem? Should I start with a factory restore? Or is this most likely a hardware issue?
Has no one else encountered this issue?
Sounds like your jack may be damaged...either that or some file is whacked....could try a hard reset to test...if problem is still there...then your headphone jack is bad...warranty replacement it.

Had a similar problem on my HTC Legend, where it would think a headset was plugged in even when not. It went away after a few days. Try cleaning the inside of the jack too.
Just plug in your head phones and pull them out a couple of times. If that doesn't work take a paper clip and just rub some of the connectors inside.
Happened on my old tp2

Thanks for the input guys, unfortunately neither the hard reset nor cleaning the jack helped, the problem is still the same. I guess I'll send it back to get it fixed/replaced.

hello.
i have a problem with my universal:
i can't get my speaker phone to work (the phone doesn't ring, and no sound can be heard (media player or any program)
the speaker located in the lcd works, so i can hear when i talk with someone
i temporarly changed both speakers with 2 that work, and there is the same problem.
i changed the rom, but no change
anyone have any ideeas about what the problem is ? (and perhaps a solution ?)
thank you.
maybe an internal bus break if you tested the connections with known working speakers

I occasionally get this problem after I've used the headphone socket - it's as though the socket gets stuck and thinks that there's still a jack in there, and so mutes the external speakers. I find that pushing the kacj in again, giving it a wiggle, and pulling it out normally does the trick.
Cheers,
Steve.

i've just tried this with some headphones (i hear normally through them), but wiggling and pulling it doesnt do the trick
a broken bus? there's no way to fix it without a lot of expertise, knowledge and specialized equipment. Sorry...
the experience part is the one thing that i need
so.... the broken bus thing.... is a hardware problem that an authorised service can fix (for a lot of money, of course), but is fixable, right ?
thanks

i do the same thing try a few times till you succeed try to pull the jack as though it is stuck
i've used a multimeter and found that the microswitch works fine, so unfortunatly that isn't the problem
Same fixed problem
I had this same problem, is the 3.5 mm jack, I fixed it by opening the uni.
Saludos
thanks. solve the problem.
My vox it's three months old, from one week I started to notice a very disturbing behavior. People are able to hear me but I can''t hear them. It seems like the internal speaker is flawed. If I use the miniUSB head phones it works fine and If I turn on the conference speaker it works too. Otherwise it just doesn''t work anymore. I have soldered directly speaker's wires on the board but the problem it's the same. What can I do?
Please, nobody can help me? I have tried also to add reg key wm6SoundFixRegistryImport but the problem it's the same. I'm sure that other people have this problem.
this seems like a hardware problem which you can get serviced by sending your phone to htc.
No, I can't because I haven't warranty. I'm sure that isn't a hardware problem because I can hear a little rustle.
i m facing exactly same problem as well. spearkerphone works fine but earphone do not worki.. if u find any solution then let me know too...
THe problem it's the speaker, I tried another from a motorala and it work! Where Can I find htc parts?
can u guide me how to open the htc phone to reach earphone speaker u mentioned?

Hello guy,
since several weeks ago, my Desire has been acting strange..actually the right speaker of the headphone is not as loud as the left side...it goes normal again after I sake or move or twist the connection to the phone..
I have tried many ROMs and several headphones...the problem is still there...
I believe it is because the female plug on the phone is perhaps dirty, but I tried to use the PCB cleaner by spraying it inside the female plug...the problem is still there...
I wonder if anyone can give me an idea how to clean it?....or how to fix it...I just hope it is not broken or partly broken...
I have a similar problem, although luckily for me it only happens with the headphones that came with the Desire - my other headphones work fine.
Please let us know if you figure out a fix, I have a feeling that the headphone socket in mine is on its way out and will end up like yours sooner or later...
I cleaned the socket with alcohol and interdental brush...it is clean now...but the lower volume on the right side headphone is still there once in a while.
I tried also (as described before) several ROMs and several headphones/sets...I think the socket is beginning to age....hmmm...I will try for warranty claim since the warranty is still valid for the next 10 months...now...gotta unroot...

I've had a similar problem to this and I fixed it by first using a pin to bend the contacts slightly inward then using alcohol and a cotten bud to clean them.

During a call yesterday, I completely lost all sound from my One S. There is absolutely nothing, and yes I have tried the in-call volume! Speaker phone works fine, but obviously I can't just use that. Has anybody had or heard of this problem? Any suggestions I can try? So far, I have reset to factory settings, and updated to the latest RUU, no luck.
If I need to send this in to HTC, I'd appreciate some guidance as to what I need to do (I'm in the UK). Thanks!
Try cleaning out the headphone jack port.
Happens to all phone if it get dirty enough. Hopefully that's the problem with yours and nothing major.

Hmmm no luck with that I'm afraid Headphone jack works fine with headphones in, took them out and gave it as good a clean as I dared, but still the same.
Pretty sure the phone is borked, I've tried everything I can think of. Even bought an app that bypasses the headphone socket, but no joy.
Could anyone give me advice on the best way of getting this repaired by HTC UK?
Just wanted to post to give a massive thumbs up for the HTC UK repair centre. Phone was picked up by UPS on Tuesday, and returned to me today. Not only have they fixed the main issue with the internal speaker, they've also replaced the entire casing of the phone which was starting to chip badly. Basically looks like a brand new phone! Very impressive service
Several days ago my RAZR HD (4.0.4) stopped playing media through the headphone jack. When I plug it in into my car's auxiliary or try to use several different headphones the sound would play through internal speaker.
At first I thought that it some lint got into the jack. I cleaned it out with no result.
Today I installed SoundAbout app which can force the phone to play audio through the jack. And it worked! That's the partial solution if any of you run into the same problem.
Here's my question: what's the best way to permanently fix the problem?
I just got the phone less than a month ago and don't feel like going into SoundAbout settings each time I want to play music on the speaker or through headphone for the next 2 years.
I'm trying to fix it without doing hard reset or just exchanging the phone - these are the last resorts.
Were you able to get this fixed?? I'm having the same problem...

Hard reset didn't help so I've exchanged the phone.
Bummer! I'll keep scouring I guess. Thanks
