solution for "insufficient storage available" error - Android General

Ola,
If you have seen the dreaded "Insufficient Storage Available" message after an update or even a new download from Google Play
and you tried everything this might help:
"I had this problem a few days back. I fixed mine by running "Lucky Patcher" and then going to the troubleshoot section in the menu and picking "Remove fixes and backups (insufficient storage available"
I copy-pasted the lines above from AndroidCentral. It did fix the problem for me. And I have been spending many, many hours if not days digging through search results to find a solution..
My thanks go to GTAFan9999 on AndroidCentral for pointing me in the right direction.
After installing lucky Patcher some apps that refused to update in the past, updated just fine, I could reinstall Facebook and Whatsapp.
BTW, you will have to google Lucky Patcher, you won't find in on Google Play.

Yes
After wasting a day for solution.
Exactly the same issue.
I was wondering why just some apps?
I find myself as the answer, thanks to your assisstance...
Thanks...

Super + 1,000,000 =)

After wasting my time, this is the solution thank you.

Thanks a lot, it worked great for me. I tried downloading "Titanium Backup" on my Nexus 7 and got the error message. Simply opening "Lucky Patcher" solved the problem for me. When I opened Lucky Patcher and it was loading the packages it gave me a toast on something like "odexed app cache" or something like that, and it solved the problem. Thanks again.

Or just clear play store data in settings. Lucky patcher... pfft.

Hi, I have a Galaxy Nexus and I have this problem too. I've tried this method (that seems to work for everyone except me), but I don't really get what's suppoused to happen. I press "Remove fixes and backups", but it doesn't really do anything. Nothing happens when I press it except that a box pops up which says something like "Lucky Patcher has been granted bla bla bla". I've checked Setting>Storage, but the problem remains; Only 508MB is available even though I've only used like a third of my 13.33GB.
How come it doesn't work for me?

If this doesnt work ,try to do the manual way ..use root explorer...go to data/app and see of there is any odex file left there which is named similar to the app you cant install due to insufficient space... done...

YOU ARE THE FRICKIN MAN, i been trying to find a working solution for this for some time. thanks a million.

Thank you:好:

<3 luckypatcher. Was getting this error with one particular app after uninstalling it and then trying to reinstall it, despite having plenty of free memory.
Simply running lucky patcher fixed the problem. Whoever thought lucky patcher is just a piracy app is an idiot. While it can be used for piracy purposes, it has lots more uses

I've used clockwork mod recovery to set up a 500MB sd-ext partition on an 8GB sdcard and link2sd can create links between internal memory and that partition on the sdcard. The apps are installed on the card but their files appear to be on the internal memory. The updated version of google play refuses to install on the sdcard in the usual way but link2sd has moved it to the sd-ext partition on the card and it works fine.

apps missing in market after clean modaco install?

Hi All,
Yesterday i rooted and put modaco 1.1 on my sprint hero. In doing so i felt to start from a clean slate and master reset the whole thing and formatted the SD card (it's not setup for apps2sd, i'm waiting to pick up a class 6 card first). Now i'm trying to redownload all my apps and theres a few that are missing? but then still show up on androlib.com. I tried the androlib QR code, i tried searching in the marketplace, i tried browsing the marketplace and scrolling down for a long time...nothing.
The 2 apps in question at the moment are imeem mobile and wertago. Am i alone on this? sorry for the newbish first post

thats funny maybe your barcode scanner needs an update cause im installing wertogo right now (ive already have imeem) from the codes i posted up
try this for imeem (comp of ajones1989 on sprint forums) http://community.sprint.com/baw/servlet/JiveServlet/download/127065-2622/imeem Mobile 2.1.6.apk
I would assume my barcode scanner is working, it reads the proper url (pname:com.wertago and pname:com.imeem.gynoid), and other applications have scanned and found itself just fine
This is really really weird.
The link seemed to work to manually install it, thanks for the work around, but is it possible this is a bigger issue then these 2 apps?
Yeah, same thing happened to me. The weird thing is that all my apps were there at first when I checked but then I think after a while when it fully sync'd with my phone it deleted all but two of the paid apps. And when I try installing the apps that I backed up, they install fine but don't show up on my downloaded list so i'm assuming i'll never get update notifications when I go to the market since they are not there. I had to search and download every app over again.
They need to add that function into these backup apps to somehow put them back up on the market as being downloaded.

Where do we get an update for the QR code scanner? I'm on modaco's 1.1 and dolphin browser trying to click on a QR code and it's not working. I'm pretty sure this was working before.
When you are searching for these do you see at the top "1 match" but then in the list where it actually should be does it say no matches found? I have had that happen. Either use a task manager to kill the market place and open it again, or just reboot the phone.

[How To] Easily get your MSL - Root Required (No PC Needed)

ROOT REQUIRED.
There is an app in the market called "MSL Reader". I ran it and it gave me my MSL. Seems like it just came out. If you can, please confirm if it works for you. It took all of two seconds to download and give me my MSL.
The developer of the app is a user on xda called mmastrac and he has a few posts in this thread. Seems pretty cool and responsive to updates. ALL credit goes to him, I just stumbled on the app and happened to post it on xda before he did If you have any issues with the app, you should be able to get a hold of him on here.
If you are reading this on your android, this will link you directly to the market download:
market://search?q=pname:com.esccode.msl
Update: Here is the working qr-code

Sorry, the market is being VERY weird for me tonight... keeps complaining about a server error. Here is the direct link to the app on appbrain. I just installed it through the android market though.
http://www.appbrain.com/app/com.esccode.msl
I can confirm it gave me the correct MSL. I did a ##3282# and updated my PRL. I honestly didn't know my MSL before tonight... never needed it and didn't want to mess with calling sprint. So I did ##3282#, popped in the MSL that the "MSL Reader" app gave me and viola!
Keep in mind I just searched for "MSL Reader" in the market app and it popped right up. I wish I knew how to link to an app in the market. The method I used to use doesn't work anymore for some reason. That or I am still having issues.
Locked up my phone but it got the MSL. Great find!
In the words of the Staples Inc.:
That was easy.
EDIT: The above QR code didn't work, so I used Cyrket to get it. I scanned the QR code at the top of http://www.cyrket.com/p/android/com.esccode.msl/ and it went smoothly from there.
Just search msl I found it and yes gave me my correct msl (knew it already)

Worked for me. Took a couple of tries, the Market kept giving me an error, but it found it eventually. Gave the correct MSL once I got it installed.
I am guessing EVERYONE is having these market issues tonight? If I open the market it just tells me it has some server error. But I can find certain apps by searching. But it is really hit or miss. I wonder what is going on. Hopefully some cool upgrade or something.
Great find, but the ##3282# is not doing anything when I enter it into my phone. I'm using CM6 RC2; do you have to be using some specific ROM to get that code to do anything?

The market is giving me a lot of trouble tonight too... I thought it was just me. My girl's phone seems to be working fine. We're both running the same ROM and kernel. I have no idea what's going on.

[Q] Low Space

Hello there! I got a question. I was playing a game on my phone, and it decided to restart on me when I tried to quit the game. After it rebooted it had all these force closes and proceeded to restart again. It did this one or two more times, So I pulled the battery and turned it back on. Now it starts up fine but a "Low on Space" notification has popped up.
Since that happened, I moved all the stuff I downloaded to the SD card because it worked fine before. After moving everything downloaded to the SD card, it still does it, and I've even uninstall a few things. Any help is appreciated!

Couple of questions to begin with:
1. What ROM are you using? Is it one of lfaber's or a stock rom? What version is it? (For stock its either 2.3.5 or 2.3.6)
2. How many apps do you have installed? Hundreds or only a few?
3. Have you made any modifications to your phone's software / hardware?
The reason I'm asking is that I haven't heard of anyone having this issue. I had it quite a bit on previous phone (Motorola Backflip) but not on the Atrix 2 and I'm a moderate to heavy user.
I'm using stock 2.3.6 and I have 77 user apps installed. I haven't modified any software or hardware. I installed a few apps and went from having a little over 1gb to under 416 mb. The only thing I downloaded were 3 games that were 20+ mb but have since uninstalled all of them and restarted my phone a few times in hope it's some kind of glitch but So far it's remained.

Hmmm... Do you have a good number of email accounts that automatically download attachments and never deletes old emails?
Corporate Sync loves to do that, especially if you're transferring files around a lot and keep like 2 months of messages.

4gb internal storage used with only 70 or so apps installed is unusual. generally dialer storage and SMS/mms messages share the storage also. you may want to look into that as well.could also be a glitch with the dalvik cache.clearing system cache and dalvik from clockworkmod recovery would be a good thing to try
OK, I'll try that. I haven't installed Clockwork yet as I haven't had the urge to install a rom yet. Lol.

Try going into recovery, wiping the cache partition and rebooting.
If that doesn't work, you might consider doing a factory reset.

That way we can see if the crashing problem can be reproduced

I also have a similar problem trying to access language and input. It crashes. Haven't checked data storage setting yet.
Another bug I found, at least for my nexus 7 2013, is for apps that are call-related. Skype, kakaotalk, groove ip, none of them receives voice input from the other side to my device, hence it's muted or screechy.. Skype abruptly ends when attempting video chat, and voice chat doesn't properly start either. Note this is mostly voice apps.
People probably shouldn't conclude it's "pointless" or not without understanding properly what's going on.

Thats true! But try to do what I did, or ask to a friend his own simcard and probably the feature will work.

System memory taking too much storage - Samsung Galaxy Note 9 -

Hi there,
First of all, sorry because English is not my mother tongue. I will try to explain my problem here as well as I can but I say sorry in advance for any error that I could make when writing this post here.
Few days ago I bought a Samsung Galaxy Note 9. I have barely used it but after few days I realised that nearly 50Gb (49.3 Gb) are already taken by "System/user data" according to what it is specified in the "Device care" storage options of the phone.
As I said, I have had no time to use the device yet apart from receiving a pair of calls with it and trying to install the F-Droid application. The day when I installed F-Droid I downloaded from there the Termux terminal to check if I could be able to check the F-Droid apk agaisnt the signature to verify the download.
One of the days I began to receive notifications to upload the system. I received many of these and I proceeded to allow all of them. There was a moment when I had the impression that the notifications were too many and when I began to read them carefully I noticed that some of them were similar to the previous ones. Notifications continued but I stopped to allow them. By then the display of the device has changed. I think this was due to the change from Android Oreo to Pie.
Some time after I realised about the problem that I mention here. I have not saved any content to the phone yet (no photos, no videos, even I have not set my email there yet).
I tried to reset the mobile to its factory settings. I had no worries of doing that because as I said I had nothing yet important on my phone. After trying that a pair of times the problem of the system storage was still there.
I have tried to use CCleaner and LTE CLeaner to solve this issue without any success. I have tried to dial *#9900# on the phone and then select from menu - "delete dumpstate/logcat" as proposed in Androidforums. I was able to perform this latter mentioned procedure but nothing changed (I have read that for some people is not possible to do this latter because their carriers do not allow them to use this option - *#9900#-)
The other solution that I read and that I have not tried yet is to root the phone and manually trying to find and delete the files which may be taking the storage, however I am hesitant to do so because I have no experience at all and it is a brand new and expensive phone as you know. I feel bad thinking about trying to root and solve this problem by myself and voiding completely my guarantee of the device.
I am still in the period of 15 days in which I can return the phone according the law for protecting customers of my country, however I am afraid that if I go back to the store from where I bought the device and ask there for a change to a new Note 9 they might tell me that everything is just my fault for having installed some apps from outside the Google and Samsung official apps stores.
Do you think I am already out of guarantee for just installing F-Droid and Termux?
Could you give me some advice about how to deal with this issue? Would be possible to avoid the rooting procedure to solve this problem?
Thank you very much for your help.
Any help so far?
Ok the system user data is where apps store their stuff. If you didn't root then you don't even have access to it. So I'm betting that most of it is normal storage stuff. Even my 64 gb uses 22gb of stuff that I can't touch but that is normal.

Hi, thank you very much for you answer.
No, I do no think that 50 GB of unknown storage is something normal.
Anyone giving some advice about what to do?

Well considering that without root you have no access to that partition. I am almost sure that it is normal for the apps you have installed. The only way to find out for sure is to factory reset and look at the storage amount is by default. The more apps you install the more that partition will fill up. ITs not unknown. IT is app data. You must be new to android.

Like I said. That is a partition you have zero control over without root. Mine is stiing at 22gb out of 64.
Even if you did clear it out. You wouldn't be able to use that storage for anything as it is not a user access able storage area
Another pic:
The first time when I passed CCleaner in the storage analysis section of that app it pointed out just something more than 2 GB of system data ... however as I said before the effective taken storage showed by Device care was still nearly 50GB.
Also there is discrepancy with the "Files" app from Google. This latter just point point out to 14.46 GB used out of 512 GB.

50gb out of 512 sounds about right for a samsung device. I wouldnt trust CCleaner. Also without root no app will be able to even read anything on the system partition properly.
The system is broken up into like 20 different partitions.
To be honest I wouldnt worry about it and here is why. Even if you cleared it out and made it empty you still would not be able to use that space as it is for app data only. Which samsung encludes alot of.
Ok, thank you very much for you help Solitarios.lupus
