[SOLVED] iGO 8.3.2 stuck on "Starting.."

SOLVED! See post 8.
I've used iGO 8.3.2 for several months. It's not the most stable, but I still like using it. However, a few days ago suddenly it will no longer load!
I was literally playing with iGO in bed looking at some POIs I'd imported and it crashed. Since then, it gets stuck on the "Starting..." status when launching. If I reset the prefs, it gets stuck after accepting the EULA, and if I re-launch, still stuck on "Starting..."
I've wiped out the entire install, only installed the very basics required (a map, a voice, NO pois, NO custom anything) and it still gets stuck. Checked AGPS, don't use HTC Home, those are two problems with iGO I've found researching this problem. iGO8 doesn't seem to have any registry except a basic one in HKLM which I also tried wiping out.
I'm not sure what else to try.. My only other guess is a corrupted contact, so I've tried disable_outlookpoi=1 in the sys.txt, but not sure that makes any difference, and I have no real reason to think a contact is corrupt.
I'm really at a loss. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
I'm pondering trying iGO8 8.0, but not sure I still have it anywhere.
For giggles, I turned AGPS on and launched it. It gets stuck at the POI Manager with it on. Turned it back off, stuck at Starting. Yay.

what worked for me is... uninstall, clean with SKTools, reinstall.

I used SKTools a long time ago to move some stuff from ram to the SD card, but I'm not offhand sure what you mean by just "clean with SKtools", more explanation would be much appreciated.
Reason I'm asking is iGO doesn't create a cab, creates minimal registry entries, and AFAIK only installs into Program Files, so cleaning it up is just a matter of deleting in a few places. But SKtools is pretty powerful so I'm probably missing something that it'll do.

of course, it might have been only the uninstall that solved everything..

No custom data at all in there, no skins, no POIs, no schemes. I even reduced the maps down to the minimum.
I did do some searching in SKTools for anything related to iGO in the main "Clean" section after uninstalling, found nothing. I searched the registry, only found the HKLM\Software\iGO key I had seen before and have previously deleted. Searched the entire system for *igo*.*
Sigh! I don't know where to go from here! I'm sure if I did a hard reset it'd be fine, but that's not something I want to do. I even went into Outlook and exported all of my contacts out to csv and looked at the output. No funny business in there that I could find, no garbage, etc..
I think I'm going to try iGO 8.0 for kicks, I found it yesterday.

8 is what i'm using. build 54000. works great... and maybe a hardreset IS the best solution.

Yeah, to be honest 8.0 was more robust.. 8.3 has always seemed to be a little more unstable.. I've never been able to run it on a whole long car trip without it blowing up. But I used it for at least 3-4 months here and there. Again, couldn't use it 100% reliably but it worked.
And now this where it won't work at all.
I need strace on Windows Mobile. Bugs me I have no idea how to figure out what might be going on.

OMFG. It was because I have the internal GPS redirected to GPSGate and it was expecting I guess non-NMEA data. The internal GPSD just basically gives out lat,lon vs NMEA data..
Anywho, I swapped the registry entries around so com1 was the build-in GPS and it fired right up.
I guess it's been a long time since I reset the iGO settings because I've had it set this way since late January.

I know it was a long time since you have solved this problem. But now in 2018 , I have the same problem. But in my car (andorid), a use Igo since car stock navigation is not so "update and cool" as iGo. And after 2-3 days I get this problem stuck on " starting" screen. Only after deleting data in app manager I get it to work, of course then I need to download maps again.
I only Germany maps, and stuff that I get from the official store.

Thats for the heads up. Midomi are in the marketplace too. You have to pay upfront ($5 / £3.19) but song searches are free. However - It does not actually work on my HD2. Seems like its not recording properly or something. I have emailed their support and they said they would work on an update.
For now I think your Shazam find is our best option.

Once the application is installed there is a menu option to buy the application.

I'm trying to install it but I can't find it through markeplace application and I can't find it on the website.

What is the difference between that and the previous (free) MusidID we had ?
For a working Midomi on HD2, you have to use the Subzer0 version from this post : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=4353929

Actually I find much more things with Shazam. Although Midomi is good but trust me Shazam is load better.

I have a sneaky feeling Apple sponsored the iPhone version as you get the link to iTunes where you can buy the song. That's probably why this isn't free and that is.

Having used shazam and midomi on the iPhone, shazam works a lot better. Assuming of course that they work in the same way (which im 99% sure as they send the data to their server!)

I cannot get Shazam to work on my HD2 here in Denmark. It wants me to set it up but comes up with the error message "Sorry, we couldnt set up Sahazam at this time!".
Has it something to do with copyright issues and the phone companies in Denmark might have blocked this option?

Did you install the one in the first post? Weird that should work, actually if it is banned I believe you will not be able to send/receive through internet but as for the installation , that should work.

Denmark is know to be rather a very liberal country, so I guess Shazam is not banned there

I installed it from the Marketplace. The installation succeeds without problems but the program states "press setup to agree on terms and..." and then it fails when I press "setup".
I just tried to uninstall and use the .cab file on page 1. Same problem.
Tried both wifi connection and regular 3G.

Ok so I have this installed on my phone and I have no clue what it is, never installed it nor can I find a way to uninstall it. Anyone else have it installed and if so did you find a way to delete/uninstall it?

It has the same thing in my downloads section of the market. The app doesn't show up in the app list under settings, though. It's really an annoyance and I think it is also causing the market to give me a false update notification. My boyfriend's phone does not have it installed and is not having any sort of the same issue with the market.
The only thing I think will clear it is a factory reset.
Update: I did a factory reset and before everything restored and I started using apps, it wasn't there. After I started using a few apps it was. No way to get rid of it until you reset the phone again. I don't know which app is causing it, but the few that I did open were task panel, eReader, and a word game. I removed them and reset. It has been quite a few hours after heavy use and it hasn't showed up in my downloads. I suspect one of those apps.

this is really aggravating and many people dont even realize they have it on their phone. I have two nexus ones and its on both of them and on both phones i get the damn phantom application update notification. Has anyone figured out anything more about this? thank you

Where are you guys seeing it? I'm a pretty heavy app user, having installed/uninstalled quite a few, and haven't done any type of wipe; however, I'm not seeing what you're describing.

I believe the the old openhome app had the class name com.google.launcher2 this is same name that google have now used for the new launcher hence the market thinks its installed... which is isn't.

Has anyone tried to install open home & then uninstall? Maybe it will get rid of both...

Weird. I don't have that. You guys should use atrackdog to generate an installed alp list and compare them for commonalities.

Like all issues with this phone, I don't know if I'm supposed to contact HTC, google, or T-Mobile. Sound like a software issue so I'm guessing google?

I am not sure why you would need to guess in this case. It is neither a hardware or a plan problem. Google is your source for a solution. This is very likely dues to a previous installation of Open Home on an older android. As to why you can not uninstall it I can not answer, but at the least I do not have it in my installed software list.

Are you rooted? If so, you could go in and delete the apk from /data/app

Um, because Apps aren't vetted? com.google is just a java namespace it doesn't change anything or give you magic permissions.
Most likely openhome grew from someone starting with the launcher source and renaming it by adding "2" then tweaking it. The only bug here is that the market is looking for installed apps by "pname" whereas atrackdog doesn't.
Its a Market display bug guys, the app is _not_ on your phone.

Agreed, although I already left a market comment.

So I am not the only one. I have the bloody app on my phone too. I never installed it. It was there from day one and I can't remove it.

I am assuming that you do have winrar installed?
Have you uninstalled that, or cleared auto opening settings in chrome? Just a couple of guesses and what I would try first.\
When you reinstalled, did you uninstall first and make sure you got rid of all user data left behind?

No, it's not beta version; v. 21 is even released, that's not beta too. Download latest version. Hope the problem fixes.

Yes, I have winrar 4.20.
I cleared all setting in chrome including user data and first run data.

Did you uninstall chrome and then actually delete the folders left on your computer that still hold info. Some of them may be hidden in your windows user account folder tree.

sadly none of the fixes you suggested worked. I think I may need to use a different browser

Have you contacted chrome help for it at all? May be worth a try send the scree shot as well as everything you have done to try to fix the issue, as well as anything that was changed on your computer before this happened (which I never asked you, for some reason.)

The strange thing is that I JUST freshly installed windows 7. That being the case, reintalling windows again as a last resort wont be much of a problem for me. I will definitely try to contact google, thanks for all of your suggestions.

Does your download folder still exist? (Settings->Advanced->Downloads->Download Location).
I had some pretty weird stuff going on when I deleted the folder Chrome was set to download to.

reintalled windows, everything is up and running perfect with chrome beta!

I had the same problem just before, here is what happened:
I have a tendency of derping around in the system32 folder to customize my computer, turns out I was actually replacing files in sysWOW64, which messed up the framework.
Everything is now custom and fully functional!

Hey all, figured this out a few days ago and seems to have worked, so figured I'd pass it along. This method eliminates sponsored posts in Facebook Messenger. ONLY WORKS ON ROOTED DEVICES.
1. Open terminal, and get superuser access by typing
su
2. am start -n "com.facebook.orca/com.facebook.messaging.internalprefs.MessengerInternalPreferenceActivity"
3. Scroll down until you see
Gatekeeper Override
4. Search the word
sponsored
5. Find the entry in the search results
Android_messenger_sponsered_msg_report_flow
And tap it to toggle. Force stop messenger or reboot.

I believe it's because of the directory in which you are executing. Try changing directory to the root directory

I tried using "cd" command but got error that "home not set"?

I've been looking for something like that for weeks. I'm having troubles to follow your instructions. Could you share screenshots for example please?
Clarify from what folder we have to execute these commands?
And also, is it normal there is a space here : ".MessengerInte rnal"

Btw, as Tomatot- noted, there shouldn't be a space in the middle of the word Internal when starting the activity in step 2.

Command worked when I ran it (without the space), and then after a force close, I still get adverts in messenger.

Alas, it has stopped working. Android_messenger_sponsored_msg_report_flow is still turned off on the above settings page, but ads are back.

Doesn't work anymore just tried it, android_messenger_ad_context_handler found that entry but sadly didnt kill ads even tried clearing cache and data before attempting.

Any Messenger mod for non-rooted device? Fedup with the ads

I think I've found a way to remove ads in Messenger. You need root
1) Download and install My Android Tools: https://www.apkmirror.com/apk/wangq...my-android-tools-0-11-1-android-apk-download/
2) Open it, click on the left hamburger menu, open "service", go to Messenger and deactivate "AdsMessengerService", "AdsProcessPriorityService".
Let me know if it works for you. I didn't get any ads since then.

Didn't work for me unfortunately. Ads are still there. N910F, X-note Kitkat ROM.

Does't work for me, LG V30
Edit: I have to amend my own review. I had to hide a total of 3 ads at first (perhaps they get cached or something), but since day 2 of disabling these services there were no more ads. Looks promising!
