My HTC One S has started doing something very weird since Friday... Randomly started doing it after restarting my phone in the morning. I've done everything in the book I could think of...
Here is a couple video's I've taken (with my old Iphone 3gs)
Is anybody experiencing such issues?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cUM1FiLeb0c
and it's only getting worst

The store was closed when I went yesterday, but I did get on the phone with support and they got another on the way already. unfortunately it's not certain the replacement will be new, may be a refurbished. The lady over the phone couldn't say for sure what it would be. (of course this is the same person that said "can you take your battery out for me and tell me if the sticker is red?")
I'm really curious to see if I'm the only one with that problem
There is only one solution.

I really wish I could use that shaver, my screen is only getting worst every morning, seems that when I don't use it for some hours it gets worst and thicker. This morning the bottom half was just completely grayed out to the point I couldnt even see any of the icons. it thinned out after I locked and unlocked the screen few times to where I can see stuff again but still with that layer.

To me is sounds a little like the LCD (not digitizer) screen is coming loose. I am no expert, but no matter what I would send it back before opening it if there is any chance of getting it warranty repaired or replaced.

the screen seems on nice and tight, if anything it be a loose wire but it gets real thick last couple mornings then if I restart it couple times and play with lock unlock the screen it'll thin back out to where I can see the bottom half again... which is kinda random.

If you want see how bad the screen is. Go to development options under settings and select " Show screen updates".
Hope you get exchange. Not ideal to keep $ 600 with bad light

Ok, I had seen a video of an X version doing that, wasn't sure if it was normal.
I do have an exchange phone coming in. My two concerns on it is. for 1 its more than likely a refurb :what: 2 its coming on Friday but I'm leaving tomorrow for the whole weekend as I had said prior, This thing is only getting worst, it flickers all day from 1/4 to 1/2 way now. Really bummed about it because I really wanna like this phone and granted I really do do like it... For me coming from an iPhone (which being a pc user it pains me to say is a darn good solid phone) I think this thing actually holds its own... But this screen issue is not looking too positive so far

LOL ya mine seems new, it was sealed original packaging, new charger, manual everything.
here is what the old one been doing since friday tho
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=55iXJKI1Wew&feature=g-upl
and since I didn't have my new phone till last night and yet still had to make calls and text messages, can't tell how much of a pain in the ass this been.
question tho... was your rooted then relocked when you sent it back?? I relocked mine and ran the RUU but it won't do the update which I find kind of weird. I think getting the replacement is the easy part... what worries me is what they try to say after send the old one back, I have babied this phone so much and granted I know it's hardware problem for sure, I just don't want to give them a reason to even try and say it's my fault. I already paid nearly full price for the old one... I'd be one pissed off basterd if they try to make me pay it again

Before I return. Unrooted and ran Ruu, which is not our US version, which I found out later lol.. I haven't receive a call or email about "relock" on my bootloader.

Through HTC-USA I ordered a warranty replacement back shell for my T-Mo Sensation 4G on Monday. The power button on mine is caved in and the volume rocker is loose. Ofcourse i have to send mine back to them AND pay for the shipping. Well today being Thursday I called HTC to see why i haven't gotten a tracking number or any follow up. They informed me that they are having issues with customs due to a legal issue and the covers because of this are now back ordered and it could be weeks before i see it. I almost got upset but I realize it's not their fault.
Point being, if you plan on going directly to HTC for anything replacement wise (any replacement accessories for any HTC device) you will have a very long wait I was informed. Just passing information that may be useful to someone else.
Also, does anyone care to guess the legal issues the rep mentioned?

Ordered mine yesterday due to a problem with the power button not working as well. Not only did I not have to pay to send back my old one, I don't have to send it back at all... they did tell me they were on back order but that I would have mine by Wednesday of next week. Not sure why you got screwed.

I ordered mine two weeks ago as a one-time accessory replacement that HTC does. To this day, I haven't received anything, although the rep told me that they are shipped via FedEx Ground and I should have it within 3-5 days.
i called this morning also and got the same ''we are having issues with customs due to a legal issue'' bs. its been a week and a half!

That explains the back order but not the customs legal issues, wtf is up with that? And yeah man you definitly should NOT have to send your old one back, I mean hell your phone is useless without it for one but they haven't made ANYONE else send it back that I know off (from that accesory thread)

They took my credit card information too...I got no answer today....Going to try them in the morning. This is out of control. I don't abuse these services at all so why should we have to suffer? I don't think it's that.
Remember Apple filed that "Stop import" order with the ITC like a month ago because of the "alleged patent infringement"? I hope that's not it man. Can't even power my phone off without jamming my finger in the hole. PAUSE!
I called last Monday, still hadn't gotten it today, it's been over a week, called today, they're on back order, give it a few more day's is what the guy said.. Awesome.
Also, didn't pay, didn't send mine back. You can replace each "accessory" while under warranty one time.

Nah I called them today and spoke with a supervisor and found out that they were losing money on the back covers as they cost them $40 to make and ship to us so they had to start asking for ours back in return so they can refurb those covers and asking from my card information was simply a "precautionary measure" incase I don't send the back cover back. But in a nutshell it is still free. But I have to pay to send it back from a shipping method of my choice.
The covers are still in US Customs and wont be out until next week...At that time they will goto HTC who then has to sort them and then assign them to each person in the order the orders were placed and process the orders..So we are looking at another 1 to 2 weeks she informed me at the longest.
I finally received mine after two weeks of fedex saying they left it at my door. Before that had called htc and told them I had never received cover even though fedex website said it was delivered. Called htc saying I never received cover so now I'm expecting another one.

I guess so many people called in for the replacement covers, HTC decided to implement a new warranty replacement procedure. I ordered mine a few days earlier than you (July 21, to be exact), and was instructed by the rep not to send the old one back, but to properly dispose of it. I wasn't asked for a credit card number.

So after FedEx marked it as "DELIVERED", it took two more weeks for the package to actually materialize??? Unbelievable!
On a side note, do you remember when you placed the order? It's been 3 weeks today since I ordered mine - still nothing (although, as Freshly Snipes pointed out, the new covers won't be released from customs until next week)! With regards to the tracking, did HTC send you a notification e-mail with the tracking number?
I am now convinced they (Call Center in Indiana) have NO IDEA what they are talking about. Clearly these have BEEEN out of customs. My back cover came today. They acted like they weren't even here in the United States.
But oh well..I'm happy now. However my power button is STILL loose and clacks louder than before..But you can't win all the wars. I made a video showing the process for those who are confused.

Haha guess so?
Just wanted to know if anyone else has had bad customer service or POS CLNR. I hard bricked my A2 last Sunday and I called in for a warrenty replacement since my father paid over $200 for a two year warrenty plan on it before he passed. They had no problem replacing after I gave a story along the lines of, "I had it plugged in my laptop as I was downloading and installing an update. It froze, I battery pulled, SIM pulled and SD pulled. Tried turning back on and would not." lol had to say somthing right? Anyway, today I get my CLNR and I can tell right away looking at the inside where the battery goes and the grill of the speaker on the bottom of the phone looked all gunked up with some black stuff. Tested stuff out and sure as hell, the speaker is trash, barely hear ANYYHING when before it would be TOO loud when turned all the way up. Can't hear calls coming through cuz the ringtones so quite. Can't hear text messages coming in. Anyway, so again I call AT&T and tell them about their CLNR they sent me and how upset I was since I already had to wait 3 and a half days for my replacement for a phone thats straight defective! After a half hour to fourty-five minutes I finally get off the phone. (Chewed my ear off!) And I now got yet ANOTHER replacement getting sent to me. But because my dis-satisfaction, they say they'll ship the 2 day instead of 6. But because it's Thursday she says I might not get it till monday or tuesday. What a buncha bull. When I was with big red, they'd ship me a replacement over night. I don't know, so far only a couple months on AT&T and I'm starting to see how crappy their customer care is. Just wanted to share and ask if anyone else has had to go through this and share their stories and suprise devices.
Here's the one I bricked: (notice the all black grill. No gunk)

I had a similar experience. Mine came with stripped screws and now the screen is loose to the point where the front facing camera has nothing but dirt in it, and its basically unusable. If u push lightly on the corners they move a lot more then i think they should.I plan on getting another one soon.
I got mine replaced in Novemberish. Right in the middle of where the space bar is there is an oval shaped dull spot when the the screen animation starts. It has to be that grey dimpled color of the transition to notice. They said I could send it back and wait on a replacement. I didn't do it. They suck. But I've been with them sooooo long I won't give up my contract or update schedule to switch companies.

Yea, my first replacement had some resin on it, and it had dust/fuzz and a dead pixel or black dot of some sort in the center of the screen under the glass, and it came already updated on 2.3.6..
The replacement for that is much nicer - like new - and came on 2.3.5.. it's a keeper.
Oh, and I got mine both overnight. The first one I paid 15 bucks, the second time the overnight shipping was "on them"

Yes, in mail. (Fed-ex, UPS ect.) If it were givin to me in person I would have traded off bat but thats the roll of the dice with the getting the shipping. The closest place they said I could come in was about an hours drive so I said whatever just ship it to me. Not wasting my gas and I guess I can just put up with this till then. As long as I am on somthing right? Better then a brick lol.

It rebooted the second that the home screen came up on its first boot. I was not to happy at this point. The next day i called att and had another one sent out. It was a hassle but the next they sent was like new.

Wow...see I'm glad I posted this. I'm not the only one. Hopefully this next one will be "Like new" or I'm going to call back pretty angry and let them know that I now know of other people on this carrier getting POS customer service or NOT Certified Like New Replacements. Crazy man...AT&T need to step their game up. Service wise.

Well, you have to realize the "age" of the A2. Most likely at this point, MOTO and AT&T are not making new A2s anymore, so, so you will not get a new or mostly new replacement anymore. You will mostly get refurbs, so it will be hit or miss.

Very true...almost would like to somehow replace this speaker with the one of the bricked. Just dont know the process of it and don't really feel up to taking much risks anymore after this first brick I've had out of 5-6 devices I have rooted and ROM'd. But again, you do have a point on the age thing. Hopefully this one'll be a hit! (Fingers crossed!)

If it is not, just send back your bricked one, and also send back the other one you don't like. Then if you get another bad one, just keep it long enough to send back any other one you have to exchange and then do it all over again and keep doing that process until YOU are happy... F' AT&T and Moto. It IS their job to make their customers happy at their expense, not yours.
I broke my N5 and the screen was shattered.
I read on the Google forums that if you send it to LG they will fix it (for a fee).
I sent it in.
LG sent it back without calling me as they said they would.
The placed a written note in the package stating that the board is bent.
The phone turns on and boots, but the screen is cracked and the touch capabilities do not work.
Any advice? Should I try to fix it myself? Has anyone had a similar experience?
I'm kind of disappointed in LG's customer service. Especially, since the same week, my wife's micro USB jack in her Moto X wasn't charging all the time and they let her get a brand new phone.

He isn't using the warranty though. LG will fix phones that have broken screens if you pay for it.
OP: Moto service is usually really good. Try another repair shop near you, or just do it yourself. It isn't that difficult with youtube videos.

Yes, you are correct. They're different things. However, LG said they would call me about the phone l; they didn't. I was told they'd fix it; they didn't. I just received my phone back after having paid to so it to them. On the other hand, Motorola let my wife design a new wood Moto X without verifying the issue, sent her the new phone (before we sent them the old one), and paid for us to ship the old one back to them. Most Maybe I sold have clarified that more. It was the level of customer service. I will definitely think twice before buying another LG product (which sucks b/c they make cool phones). My experience with Motorola has been very positive:silly:, but I'll wait to see what happens with the Lenovo purchase.

LG to me seems like a crap OEM just saying my personal experience with all their electronics have been bad our TV for example has a couple dead spots or sometimes stuck green pixels
and if you do a quick google search for Nexus mic issue you can see results for the LG Nexus 4 and the LG Nexus 5
Nothing else Google is sayin Bye bye to LG and moving on to MotoLenovo

I wish they would move on, but they won't IMO. LG is the only one that can make the phones so cheap. Even though their service center is in the US, it's so bad that you should just hope that your phone doesn't have any problems. At least Google's service is excellent though.

Sorry to hear about your cat. Is it still under warranty?:silly:
How much did you pay LG to carry out a repair? - Did they do anything to the device except put a note in the box and return it?
A sent board may have prevented closig the device properly after a new screen was in pace or that one or more of the integrated circuits might have been damaged as well as the screen. They may have felt the cost to repair the screen and replace the board would cost as much as a new phone.
Plz tell me what sort of force will a drop do to bend the mobo? was it behind your back pocket? /facepalm

I only paid shipping to get it there. No, they didn't do anything to the device other then ship it back with a note. The frustrating part was I called LG the day before I shipped it and they said they would call me to give me a repair quote and explain what was wrong with the phone. Instead, I received the phone back about a week and a half to two weeks later without being notified. When I called again, the customer service person was annoyed at my questioning about why it would be sent back without a call, at minimum, explaining what the damage was.

Here's a link to the phone. The board doesn't look bent to me.
same here i sent my phone for software issue
i never drop my phone, 99.9% new phone and LG said physical damaged, board bent unrepairable...wft..?
isnt that mean device is defected?? how do i bent board with out damage my phone??
LG's service is still horrible horrible
I officially just destroyed my phone yesterday. I was riding my motorcycle and forgot to take it from my pocket to my riding bag. When I got to the gym I noticed it wasn't in the bag and didn't know if I left it home but just FELT something was wrong. I used my nexus s (which is now an MP3 player for the gym) to remote install googles find me service. After a while it finally popped and said it was half way from the gym to my house. I rode back and found it. Someone actually picked it up and brought it into a deli.
Anyway the screen was shattered.... like SHATTERED.
This didnt bother me since the glass was already cracked and everything else seemd to work okay UNTIL I went to make a call.
When making a call and putting the phone up to my ear the screen goes black and it takes a LOT of playing around to come back. I get NO AUDIO when using in handset mode. Like no one hears me and I Cant hear them. I can use it fine in speaker mode oddly.
I took it apart and everything internally looks fine. No boards cracked the speaker looks fine, headphone jack fine. My guess is maybe when it fell the headphone jack and/or speaker maybe popped out of its socket and its confusing the handset when not on speaker.
ANYWAY
I can buy a new screen for 80$ on amazon. Do you guys think its worth it if Im not 100% sure thats the full issue. I could buy a speaker and headphone jack for like 4$ a piece which is nothing but then I was wondering if the light sensor got messed up (which I dont think so) and thats actually fully soldered to the board. I can solder but cant find that part so I think it would require buying a whole main board.
Im using my S4 WHICH I HATE for now and miss my Nexus . Like I feel naked without it, and honestly want to fix it because it was a gift from my girlfriend for x mas cause I wanted it so bad. I feel horrible because this is the FIRST phone Ive ever had something like this happen to. Lucky it had a good spigen case and aside the screen everything else looks new still.
What would you guys do?

Google does not care if you rooted your device. Its a "hardware issue" (if you can call a shattered screen like that ) anyways so it wouldn't make a difference wether the device was rooted or not.

Picked up a T-mo note 5 on CL. Looked great; all features I could think to test were good. IMEI# check out as good mostly., I just didn't think to test the spen detection in the holder. It's broke. Dumbass must have inserted the pen backwards and yanked it out
Anyways I picked up all the tools I need to safely open the note 5 and see what I can do with the broken sensor; figured I'd keep this thread updated with my progress on fixing.

I wouldn't try a store, I would wait a week until tmo updates their system and sees that's the phone you hit and then call 611 and tell them the problem with NO mention of where you got the phone unless they ask and even then you can just say it was a present or something.
They don't like it when you don't buy phone off them and use Craigslist instead.
Like ThC23 recommended, I called 611 and they asked me when I bought the device, and I just said "IDK it was a gift." they asked me when the problem started and I said "IDK, it just never worked"
Tmo connected me to Samsung and they gave me an RMA number. I'm sending them my note 5.
Thanks for all your help guys. It's kinda a pitty though, I was looking fwd to taking it apart a bit lol.
Glad I didn't put my Note 4 on sale just yet. Looks like I'll be using it again for a few days.
So samsung didn't do anything to fix it, and they are just mailing it back to me. Looks like the A-hole who sold it to me lied (surprise surprise) the IMEI number has been changed, so samsung won't replace it.
So I'll be going back with my original plan of trying to fix it myself. I wish I could find that broken plastic lever that must have broken, online. but who knows. Maybe it's not working for another reason. There is at least one video where the guy takes Note 5 apart and shows us where it broke, but it just happens to work when he puts it back together, even though he didn't rly do anything to it besides remove the broken of bit off plastic that was preventing the sensor from moving.
As sad as this is, it just reminds us that buying off CL is not always a good idea. I feel for you. ?

Any progress buddy ?
yeah it's still taken apart cause my soldering iron is not meant for these tiny tiny components, but I have not given up. I actually got the spen detection working for a few minutes and it quit working, so I'm on the right track I just need to get better at the soldering. maybe I should stop by radio shack.
as for that plug I broke, i don't know what it does. I did a half assed soldering job and I got the note 5 back together to see what is not working and all I see is the lights on the front buttons don't light up. If that's all that that blue cable does I might not care...
does anyone know what this blue cable does?
https://d3nevzfk7ii3be.cloudfront.net/igi/wMyYTEoFThUUNkHD.huge
it's on the bottom right of the image
Update: Spen detection sensor fixed!! hopefully it stays fixed this time.
Now I want to get that blue cable figured out. I suppose I could just quit and not have my front buttons light up. not much of a loss there.
--looks like its the gps cable.
-- no def not the GPS cable. GPS works fine.
-- finger print sensor gives an error. I bet it's just power going to the front buttons. weird thing is the lights on the buttons flickers with a vibration once when the phone boots up/.
