Why such poor battery life...? - Samsung Galaxy SL i9003

Now a days I am experiencing such poor battery life. I am not able to track the exact reason of it.
This is my configuration
1. Stock XXKPQ with tarunagg's ICS rom. Latest BCK kernel with 1ghz max & 300 min freq.
2. Screen off profile in set cpu with max 300 mhz & max 300 mhz for better battery life.
3. smartassv2 & sio
4. Freezed most off the unwanted stock bloatware like maps, layer & many more.
5. Purposefully I kept autusync off for batter battery life.
6. I use 2g net alot for surfing & downloading whole day.
7. Not using any scripts or tweaks.
8. Brightness is kept at lowest level.
9. Phone can easily enter into deep sleep mode.
I am posting screenshots of battery life. From screenshot you can see that my screen is awake more than 4 hours & it consumes more than 60%. I already mentioned that my screen brightness is lowest then why my phone sonsumes such a huge battery...? Now my phone is 1.2 year old.

My testing showed that this actually consumes more power. But anyway, the screen-off state is not your problem.

That actually consumes a lot of battery. If you're surfing, use 3G or even better WiFi. Per unit of transferred data, WiFi consumes the least power. Turn it off after surfing.

You are using a custom ROM. I would bet that there a re lots of tweaks included as is. Maybe this is one more problem, maybe not.

And there you have your main reason for a short battery life. The screen is the biggest consumer in any modern touchscreen phone and there is nothing you can do about that.

10 hours off charge with 4 hours display time? I'm jealous.

I think you are right. 2g consumes alot of battery than 3g & wifi. But in india 3g is like very much costly. So for net purpose I have to use 2g.
I am using stock xxkpq rom & not any custom rom.

Leaving my phone on wifi the whole day+at least 5 hrs of usage gives me about 10hrs battery life at least
Cheers

Actually I should not compare like this (because comparison is of different OS which are at different level) but my friend have nokia n8 phone with more brightness than our phone. Also its daily phone usage is nearly like me. But it has superb battery life of nearly 26 hours easily.
Androis is great OS but cursed with huge battery drain. Developers of google have to do something about this. Dont u think so guys...?

Its true that symbian phones get good battery life.. i have a C7..
its just that symbian phone aint resourse hungry, n c7(or n8) has oly 678mhz processor.. display smaller n its AMOLED.., n also t os doesn handle much activities lyk an android..
hence the battery consumption s less..

That's not a fair comparison.
N8: 3,5" AMOLED, 640×360 px
I9003: 4" LCD, 800x480 px
And from your screenshot it's obviuos that the main problem is the screen, maybe you keep it too high.
And by the way your battery life it's not that bad, I get few more hours than you.

may be ur battery is becoming old and has been degraded!!
have u checked for it??

May be you are right. But I have observed my friend's galaxy ace with purely stock rom which has nearly same specs like nokia c7 or n8. It has same ram, processor, screen size etc. But is has worst battery life. Android OS can handle lots of resources but like my friends tease me that whats the use of such OS if someone cant use his android phone more than just 10 hours???

Firstly switch to wifi whenever at home.. It'll highly reduce battery consumption.. Also always use oly 2g mode.. Cuz searching for 3g signal consumes more battery..

Hey guys,
as you can see, I´m back And it´s my first target to fix the massive battery drain on Miui. The first thing I do is to compile a new kernel for Miui, but I need your help, too.
I have to locate the application that uses the battery most, so please go to Settings -> System -> Battery Settings , make a screenshot of it and post it in this thread. If you have the time to, please use Spare Parts, too and also make a screenshot of the battery usage.
Thanks for your help!

[GUIDE] Ultimate Battery Life For Note 3 [UPDATE:13/10/14]

Well, Saving your phone's battery without compromising your phone's performance will be a little difficult for everyone. Everyone nowadays prefer phones which can last them for atleast a day. But what if we could extend our phone's battery life to 1.5 days or 2 days without compromising the power of your phone?
Yup. That's possible. I've been experimenting with my Note III SM-N900 [Indian Exynos Model]. I did it for almost like 6 months. My aim was to maximize my phone's battery life. And finally I found it. I wanna share all my results and the secret tips to save that last precious drop of your battery juice!
[NOTE: [Please keep in mind that I own a Exynos Model, i.e, SM-N900 and made all the customization on this model only. Many methods explained herein might not work for you.]]
:victory:
So, first a few words on my phone's history:
When I first got my brave and good looking Note 3, I was on 7th heaven. I got Android 4.3 Jellybean onboard. I used to get 2 days of unparalleled battery life. Smooth UI. But, very few customization. Previously I used to own a Galaxy SII i9100G. It had a great potential and till date is considered as the most selling Galaxy Variant. But, still I was happy. Then came the wave of KitKat 4.4.2. Guys, you won't believe, I spent weeks in the dilemma of the fact - Should I root or not root. Should I first update and then root? Should I root and then update? I was going crazy.
But then I decided. No, I should first update via OTA and then root my phone. And then, I did it. But soon I realised that I did a wrong thing. I experienced very, very poor battery life. With 3G on and screen time of 3-4 hrs, my phone used to die. But then I thoguht, there's still hope. Thus, I spend a lot of days into finding the best customisation for improving the battery life. And after 6 months, now I finally got the best battery life.
Guys, another thing I would like to say here is that, there was a very good article on saving battery life before, made by stanley08. [READ IT HERE].
STEPS TO MAXIMIZE YOUR BATTERY LIFE
1. Kernel Customisations:
Well, as you all know, kernel is the thing that sits between your software and hardware. Doing optimal changes to it is the best way out there to save battery. First of all currently there are two best kernels out there. halaszk and pekaka. Both are absolutely amazing kernels and I found halaszk to offer a greater number of modifications. But for everyday use I use pekaka now. On the top, it doesn't matter that much. So, let's get started.
First of all, halaszk kernel comes with a very powerful tool called synapse. It allows you to individually set the frequencies, voltages, GPU speed etc.
If you wanna use pekaka, then use an app such as Trickster MOD app from PlayStore.
The main part comes now:
1. Reduce all A15 cores to -25 mv each.
2. Reduce all A7 cores to -13.5 mv each.
3. Use 0 as the parameter for Multicore Power Saving
4. Use Interactive or Ondemand governor.
5. Use CPU frequencies upto 1.3 or 1.4 GhZ.
6. Use GPU frequencies upto 340 or equivalent
That's the kernel part.
2. ROM:
Using custom rom might not be that important because almost all roms available now are either stock or MIUI. So, it won't make a difference. Still some roms might be slightly better.
One rom that I found was Alba's Ultralite roms. These roms have been developed by a russian developer. The thing that's really good in these roms is that, the Ultralite series weigh around 600-700 MB and are totally debloated. So, lesser the bloatware, lesser is the memory consumed and hence, lesser is the battery consumed.
Another rom to observe is Dr. Ketan's Rom series. Many users are satisfied with the balance of battery life and lots of customisations.
Some other good roms are Alliance ROM, and Murat ROMS. There might be many more roms with good battery life. Users may leave their comment below and I'll add them.
3. Memory:
Yup, more memory means more battery. Many would disagree with me but, I tried it out and saw amazing results. I would suggest you to use Clean Master to clear cache, memory and check out your phone's temperature.
4. USPM MOD:
Xperiacle, an amazing developer[And my fav!] has developed a module called UPSM mod. Ultra Power Saving Mode, was found in Galaxy S5. He did an amazing job and has developed this module, which allows you to activate UPSM or Emergency Mode. Doing this, will limit you to basic apps such as Phone, Whatssap, etc and will prove immensely helpful for saving battery. This is highly recommended for an y battery savvy. There's also another Xposed module which reduces NLP Kernel wakelocks, thus making your phone sleep better. Download it here.
5. Reception/Signal:
Believe it or not, this is the part that takes away a huge toll on your battery. If you have bad reception, you ought to have a bad battery life. I saw the results myself. On full signal, my phone's battery dropped to around 98% after 6 hrs standby whereas on 1 bar signal, I found my battery to be 82% after 6 hrs standby. this is because, your phone tries to continuously searches for better battery.
6. 3G/ WIFI:
Personally I found 3G to consume much more battery than WiFi. So, it is advisable to keep it turned off while not in use. If you get a simultaneous screen on time and total 3G usage time of 5-6 hrs, you're great! That's the best you can get.
7. Temperature:
Your phone's temperature makes a lot of difference. Many times you might have experienced your phone's temperature shooting up like a volcano! Well it happens when your CPU or GPU is put under a lot of stress. For example while playing a high quality game. Many times it happens when some background app freezes. So, try keeping your phone a bit cool! I mean, always check if any background apps are running continuously.
8. Greenify:
Hey, I am not talking about afforestation or something! I am talking about a wonderful app called Greenify. Now, what it does is, it freezes the background processes and apps [which you select], and thus frees up a lot of memory.
9. Debloat:
Yup, lot's of apps on your phone may slow it down and deteriorate your phone's battery. Try removing apps that you don't use anymore.
Also, another thing I would like to suggest you all, is to keep reflashing your rom every 2 to 3 months. This would ensure less momory clutter and defragmentation. Also, it would keep your phone running smooth. Also, as you might already know, AMOLED displays consume much battery for bright colors and brightness level of the screen. So, it's advisable to use dark wallpapers.
So, guys these were some of the customisations I used to achieve the perfect balance of battery life and performance. If you have any more idea or trick to save battery, do post it below. We'll keep this thread updated.
Thanks! And do share this thread with others.
:fingers-crossed: :fingers-crossed:

Just a minor thing - It's not the temperature that degrades battery life, but the applications that consume more resources, thereby also more battery and generating heat.
You are too much forcing yourself to lengthen the battery life while limiting yourself from users' accessibility and ease.

Let me tell all my findings from your post. I would like to say my assumtions so all may not be true.
1. You plugged in awhile AC power or USB cable to PC in between your process and thus it stretched out the battery for awhile.
2. You put in Airplane mode at the end and may be it has been since 10% battery life.
3. You increased the screen time while letting minimal CPU and GPU usage just by reading and browsing internet with chrome for a few mins. (May be brightness is set to 0)
4. I didnt see other applications such as facebook, whatsapp and so on ( you may have uninstalled them and even google play services)
For me, i didnt tweak anything about CPU or kernel. I just use official firmware, rooted and greenify only. Whenever i browse internet, i turn on 3G and then back to 2G with background applications such as viber, facebook, wechat with casuality and ease. My battery would last for a day with screen on time around 5 hrs and sometimes more than 5 hrs.
So my conclusion is your post doesn't intend for "Competition of Battery Life on Galaxy Note 3" . It should be a balance between battery life and users' accessibilty without limitations of the activities.
I appreciate your effort for this post but I dont mean to offend. I am sorry about my comment.

Now here's my clarification:
1. As I already said, I started monitoring from 85% after charging (see the pics)
2. I did put it on airplane mode for 10mins in the end. (Any person with just 2% battery will do)
3. Ya.... 3rd conclusion is true. I did everything ideal battery test guidelines as per GSMARENA. I even played a few games which didn't show up on the battery screen. Also, Whatsapp was on the whole time and my life is unimaginable without it.
4. My screen brightness was at 50% and 3g on for 4-5 hrs. I only use 3G.
Hope that classifies all your doubt. Will very soon post new battery results since the previous one was a bit controversial.
Many members of XDA are currently testing my settings and will soon give me the results. Thank you.

Note 3 with Phronesis, Magma NX or AspireTeam C9 Pro ROMs SOT (Screen On Time) Battery and custom Kernel Discussion.
Let me start by saying that this tread is born out of a passionate back and forth discussion I had with one the above-mentioned custom ROMs a rather ubiquitous assistant developer here on xda. It all began with his casual use of SOT (Screen On Time) hours he got when asked by a user why his battery was draining. He would, without fail, give the usual line of your usage vary from this to that, and each horse is different from the other, etc. etc. which is fine. But, somewhere along the line, he will casually throw in that he personally gets 7-8 hrs. SOT and possibly reach 11 hrs. That’s when I took him to task, until the moderator asked us to quit and start a discussion thread if we feel the need to go further on the subject of SOT.
So here I am, but first let me say this, I know that this subject is not easy and subjective, but I would like to approach it in a simple way, better yet, can there be a common point here where we all agree what would be a default setting on a custom ROM? I’m proposing WIFI active, Data 4G active, Location active and Bluetooth active. At least the first 3 come activated on every devise you purchase. Most people use these principal services for various connections in their daily lives. Let’s call this for the sake of this argument “Normal Use”.
Xda developers like to always remind users who they call “noobs” ( I certainly was once, and most probably still am) that this is a developer site and you should first break your bones before coming here. Sorry, but that isn’t reality, most custom ROM users are NOT developers, in fact many, many are noobs. In fact, the noobs are what makes a custom ROM successful. The more pages the thread garners and the more downloads, the more the developer appreciates his success and xda benefits.
Now I know there are many factors that paly into SOT, battery age, kernel, ROM, games, wild applications etc. But really, do you think it is wise to promote any custom rom by saying “I personally get 7-8 hrs. SOT and can possibly achieve 11hrs”. Remember, we are talking about a Note 3 stock battery not a custom one. Just imagine what that means; you go to work and come back and you’re still on SOT! I can’t achieve that on an iPad. We’re talking here about a 2017 technology on a 2013 mobile phone device, and the Note 3 was designed with Kitikat 4.2, which is even older.
Granted, you’re a developer or part of the know-how team who can snail tweak the device's software and kernel to achieve a higher SOT, just because you can and you know how. But there is always a price to pay in functionality. I will go even further to say that you do a disservice to the ROM quality and viability by saying that. Even if you achieve that with all those crippling tweaks, most people aren’t ready to use their device as a developer testing machine. Actually, giving them estimates on normal use of 3-4-5 hrs. SOT would be more attuned with reality, and people will not pester your thread with posts asking why they haven’t reached 7-8 hours SOT you bragged about. If they somehow reach a higher SOT on their own, all the praise to the developer. Instead, they have to deal with awful suggestions like “your battery must be dead or something”. Samsung’s best offers never reach more than 5hrs. SOT, if they did, they’d kill the competition. Neither do trimmed down ASOP ROMs.
Finally, I have flashed many ROMS since I got my Note 3, but for this thread let’s keep this discussion limited to Phronesis ROM, Magama NX and AspireTeam since they are the most popular with Note 3 users, and all use Android MM 6.0.1 I’ve used All 3 ROMs above with various kernels and never achieved more than 4 hours with “normal use” (all connections active) 5 hrs. is rare SOT for me even when I use new stock batteries. So, please let us know what is your SOT using what kernel with these ROMS on your Note 3. Do you actually reach 7-8 hrs. SOT? (forget 11. LOL). If you do, tells us how? And please don’t forget to give us some specs about your configuration.
Great @wild wadi
can i suggest something if you do not mind ?
i suggest that users who will post in this thread to start with a report that contains the following :
1 - Device model and Modem & Bootloader.
2 - Kernel and ROM.
3 - A screenshot of the battery usage.
4 - A screenshot of Gsam battery monitor ( App sucker,system,screen)
5 - if you are using Xposed ( mention the modules )
6 - If you are using Lspeed and Kernel auditor ( mention the tweaks )
I didnt understand "Phronesis, Magma NX or Aspire ROMs" part on OP and thread title. What about Darklord Reborn, AryaMOD s7edge, AryaMOD n7, Emassry266, Possibe FS and etc? Can it be generalized as "Touchwiz MM port"s? Or you are interested on only those ROMs?

My experience is with those 3, they are popular and sufficient to give us some idea. Let's not muddy the water here.
3.5 years old stock battery.
Kernel stock settings.
No Xposed

You 2 need a break! Or at least use ignore list! Ha ha ha !
Let be serious guys 8h SOT hard to get with normal battery and with the apks from theese days. Not many users have skills to set correct kernels. Most of the users like me let say want a normal battery 3 to 5 h top. But when you see some post from guys who get 7-8 h you start thinking how to get that, and from there desaster is comming. What i didnt hear from users is that they never say what apk are using ,when they use wi-fi or data or gps and what tweaks they do to their kernels.
Anyways have a good "fight" on this subject ....

So what is your usage? I shared mine on previous page here. But I dont know your usage. I have wifi/data/location/sync turned on. Bluetooth -> off (i dont have bluetoot device). My apps are present. I use new samsung battery less than a year old. I dont play games. I use quickedit app, mixplorer, mixplorer text editor, apltool x for modding. Youtube, mxplayer for watching video. Samsung music for listening audio (on screen off, not counted in sot value).
Kernel adiutor
1. undervolt (different pvs value device (google to find what it is) will tolerate different values). find your device's sweet spot. I decrease global to -20 mV and 288 to 650mV. I have seen users who got reboots when going below -10mV global and also users with using -50mV global with no issue. Different pvs number different results. Mine was 2 if my mind doesnt fool me.
2. Low memory killer (I adjust higher values so that it doesnt make device slow). It does not affect battery directly.
3. You can change cpu freq but with phantom kernel it is programmed good so I moslty dont even touch it.
Smart Manager:
I advise c5 or s7 sm because it can control apps in background better monitoring ram usage. It is also advised for s4 users since they have 2GB RAM w.r.t. 3 GB RAM of note3 (case for MagMa NX).
Bluelight filter:
Around 20% normal, in dimmer places 50%. At night up to 100%. I edit filter.cfg string for decreasing brightness.
Then check your battery stats to see what is using your battery. I have seen google services and system (adsprcd) using high battery. For google services there are xposed and magisk modules to optimize its used battery. I myself am using button mapper and kill playstore app after openning it (I also disable auto update notifications from playstore -> it updates only when I want). System (adsprcd) was caised by google assistant listening on background. I disabled "ok google" prompt. I use only via long press home button because I dont get hansfree usage at all.
These are wbat I remember from my tweaks and with my usage I get 6-8hrs sot. I hope they are useful
Dont expect getting high sot if you are playing online/heavy games, using media editing stuff (mainly video), bluetooth devices and watching full brightness 1080p youtube videos. But you will see the app usage in gsam battery monitor (stock battery usage will not give you 3rd party app usage info in spite of what is told). Also, we are now optimizing to decrease battery usage by infinity wallpaper on MagMa NX.
APP USAGE is VERY important. That is why when I dont get that info I cannot troubleshoot.
P.S. I use mobile app. "Ignore user" function has not been brought to android

Yeah thats true. Tweaks from other people using are not the same with other users. App disable, how frequent they have used their phones, on idle or etc. Even they send the screenshot and copied their setup, it depend on how we use our phone. For me SOT screenshot are rubbish. If you all need a good battery life phone, get the exynos version instead(for samsung phone). Theres many comparison talking about sd and exynos on samsung(not gonna explain here). If you got some money just buy the 10K mah zerolemon batteries. Theres too many thread talking about battery, kernels and tweaks, how much more do we need?

Kind of agree, except for maybe the aryamod. They're kinda old now, discontinued. Old as in the apps in magma and resis are like a year newer. I personally only use magma and resis anymore, and for the record, I get 24hrs SOT. I just don't unplug it ever.
Good thread. I am getting 3h 40m SoT on average with MagmaNX . N900t. Don't have any social media apps except instagram (which i froze).
I honestly believe this phone on anything more than Lollipop is incapable of getting more than 4hrs SoT with "normal" usage (wifi/mobile on). Even with mid-level power saving. The overwhelming number of people who report their SoT is definitive.
Ive been using roms for different phones for 6 years now. This is one of the few where there's such a disparity between what the developer says what "battery life" is and what the average user is reporting.
Whatever "Android System" and "Kernel" is, they are killing the battery
On Lollipop, I was getting 5.5 SoT. On average. With the same battery / apps / usage.
So I will be going back to stock Lollipop. It's unfortunate.

I think it's because my battery is kinda worn - it was charged over 4700 (!) times so it may have lower capability... But I'm still satisfied with it! (That doesn't mean I wouldn't order new one soon )

I didnt like the kernels on magma but I started tweeking the lss kernel because it gave me about those 6hours SOT. Therefore I undervolt like 35-50mV and some more stuff in synapse https://m.imgur.com/a/SHEi7 , but I still could not get those 8h.SOT. I did not play games, but i used for instance facebook/messenger, photos etc. I have my note3 for almost 3 years with the stock battery. I also disabled some unused apps. However, the phone performance like scrolling or moving from app to app was laggy. Honestly, now Im on Ressurection Remix https://forum.xda-developers.com/ga...-resurrection-remix-n-v5-8-3-vanilla-t3615227 and performance is great, no lags, everything is really smooth on android 7 but i miss the samsung apps and features. On the other hand, the samsung apps are badly optimized, bcs samsung. If i had to compare the samsung vs google original apps, i would say that google apps are better and smoother. But, the RR rom has bad battery life for me and Im thinking of returning to Magma now
Its all strange because when you watch original S8 battery test, the phone doesnt get more than 6-7 hours sot. I think that OEMs are holding all the progress back, bcs we can see that the same hours can be achieved on 4 year older phones. Thats why they dont update the old phones, bcs they just want us to buy their new product each year. They are better in performance, but for normal usage like browsing the internet or calling you dont see that much difference unless you play games. Im not even excited about new phones bcs its all the same with small changes.

You are doing a colossal mistake by not comparing the testing conditions. To get any comparable result you should test all those devices on same conditions same environment same reception same usage by yourself. Otherwise you can never compare those results.
I do my all test under nearly identical conditions thus I can compare my old results to my new results and say that "this tweak increases/decreases/doesnt change sot".
I have seen reports for google pixel xl previous year stating that it lasts 4-5 hours sot. I can assure you that under same conditions you cannot even get 3 hours with note 3.

Those new phones aren't even debloated as those custom ROMs, most of the services if not all of them are enabled.
Not mentioning their performance compared to note 3.

The problem is the SOC is inefficient because of Samsung fabs poor 4nm manufacturing node (both Exynos and Snapdragon were manufactured on this node). Nothing will help, it'll take the S23u with TSMC manufacturing the new SOCs to get good battery life.

If you're not satisfied with S22Ultra you won't be satisfied either with Xiaomi or any other brand, ESPECIALLY Xiaomi and their garbage OS.
Your usage seems pretty normal and the fact that you have DUAL sims and play games, your battery looks fine. NONE phone will provide drastically more power with this kind of usage.

I have always goof battery with the Samsung phones at the beginning like 2 -3 mounts it last like 5-6 hours of screen on time and like 20 hours of stand by , but after this period it's just too awful maximum 3-4 hours with maximum 6-8 hours of stand by I think that it's not even making it 20 hours only with stand by but I don't know why exactly it's this happening

My dear man, I really don't care if you believe it or not. It just goes to show you have no idea on how to properly optimize the phone you are using. But I am not here to spoon-feed you, learn it yourself... or live in ignorance. Your choice. Have a nice day.
The problem is the kernel not the cpu fab. A quick simple watch of the cpu frequency behavior shows this with ZERO hot plugging and to high idle frequency. I'm not talking how the old hotplug governor was. I'm talking when you turn the screen off the cpus don't hotplug and don't go under 600mhz 4 core. Very very bad for better life and simply fixing this will make the phone last loads longer for standby and adding hotpluging with lower 200mhz idle till screen touch then ramp to 600mhz will add loads of screen on time. I'm not surprised this is forgotten in a world of root is bad but back in the evo3D days you could pm power=0 and get 30 days on a hotplug governor. It's there, we just need custom kernel or Samsung (very unlikely) to fix said issues
In the S22 series, while Snapdragon variant doesn't have great batterylife, the Exynos variant is even worse.
And to improve the endurance, there are 100's of threads that will help to give you some relief. That's all.

That's not entirely true. "Not supported" countries get LTE/4G battery drain, no 4G for call, even blocked 5G by google, blocked baseband frequencies based on location. Even people from supported "offcial" locations reported lack of 4g/5g while traveling to another country. Maybe the battery itself isn't a problem, but basic optimization and menagement is. My patterns did not change, nor did the apps while switching from a 5000mAh medium range phone to google flagship. Hell, I even gamed more on my previous Poco. Now I can't nt get 10h standby and messenger mixed use while at work, cause the battery drains to 5%. Nothing like that happens over Wifi or 3g (can still use messenger on 3g), the usage time goes up like 3 times. Measured. So don't tell us there isn't a problem.
And if you wanted values, some battery meters showed as much as 1400 mAh peak drain while watching a youtube video at work on 4g (i have 5g blocked by google), just scrolling through Instagram gave me 890-1100mAh drain while heating my phone, where this value drops to 400-500mAh drain doing the same on Wifi. Idle messenger is like 320 mAh drain over Wifi, at least 900 over LTE. This seems good to you?

That's not entirely true. "Not supported" countries get LTE/4G battery drain, no 4G for call, even blocked 5G by google, blocked baseband frequencies based on location. Even people from supported "offcial" locations reported lack of 4g/5g while traveling to another country. Maybe the battery itself isn't a problem, but basic optimization and menagement is. Oh my...
You're one of those that think switching from a mid-range phone to a "high-end" one will suddenly provide them a better battery life.
You do realize that mid-range phones have "much" weaker SOC that consumes less power overall?
Very often the same case is with the display too, lower resolution display, and lower display brightness than flagship screens (very often even lower refresh rate display), and there is a bunch of other things that make a mid-range phone superior when it comes to battery life.
The fact that you even expected a better battery life by switching to a device that has a SOC that EATS power unlike a SOC in a mid-range explains everything.

And you would be exactly correct, weren't the fact that the battery drain and heating stops, once the phone switches to wifi performing the same tasks. I gave you the numbers, but you seem to not read them with understanding. Are you telling me that LTE overheating the phone and max 10 hours of mixed use on a charge doing messenger and instagram is equivalent to 20 hours of the same on Wifi? If that's the case, we don't actually need flagship phones, we can just go with a Snapdragon 732G or 870 mid/mid-high range chinase phones that can withstand everything during normal daily use.
Dude my Pixel drains 12-14% battery an hour while steaming music over LTE with screen off, while draining 3-4% an hour streaming Tidal on 3g.
Writing this post on LTE made my phone hot.
This isn't normal, wether you like it or not.
Edit: also, the Tensor G2 isn't exactly that hi-end of a chip, benchmarking it put like where? Snap 870? Oh and based on Samsung's OVERHEATING Exynos line. Which Google didn't quite mention untill recently. And don't come here with that "ooo, you're one of those people who..." attitude. I know my tech. I know when tech is good or tech is bad, flagship or not. And yes, I do expect better overall performance in any given case, including at least similar or close to battery life as on a higher mid -range, you know why? Cause people payed close to a 1000 bucks to get a top tier phone. And Google came lacking.

It's just YOUR usage pattern and the apps you use. I'm getting double that, and many people much more than you.
Nothing is really broken with the "battery", it's just your own usage pattern.

Bro I barely use the phone ...No Twitter no social media , a little utube and music ..I have one game ...No emails ...10 minutes of calling and 10 text a day

Yes, the whole issue IS THE TENSOR G2. While it barely offers the CPU performance of the 865-70 (GPU is somewhat "decent"), it eats twice as much power. It's EXTREMELY inefficient and performs well below many other "flagship" SOCs while it consumes more power than those.
How much you pay for the phone doesn't automatically grant you a PREMIUM battery life. It may grant you a "premium" performance...
If you know the TECH that well, you would understand why buying a flagship device will never give you the "best" battery life, no matter how much you pay for the device. The reasons behind it is already mentioned in my previous reply. FACT.

Sorry but this seems with no proof at all
I get the VoLTE/VoWiFi/5G things, which are indeed limited by Google
Not the "sabotage", even because on an unsupported MVNO the battery consumption was mostly the same as the host network
My P7P has run much, much cooler than my P6P ever did, it's never run hot.
It will only get hot for few minutes after the update. Your phone is indexing your file and optimising system app due to update. Those two process use a lot of CPU.
After it's done the phone should run normally. No Heat issue on mine. Unless i open the stupid youtube music which somehow use way too much cpu power
