[STATISTIC] [USERS NEEDED] Miui battery drain problem - Samsung Galaxy SL i9003

---
Woops wrong category, sorry ^^ Please move it to general
---
Hey guys,
as you can see, I´m back And it´s my first target to fix the massive battery drain on Miui. The first thing I do is to compile a new kernel for Miui, but I need your help, too.
I have to locate the application that uses the battery most, so please go to Settings -> System -> Battery Settings , make a screenshot of it and post it in this thread. If you have the time to, please use Spare Parts, too and also make a screenshot of the battery usage.
Thanks for your help!
fuss132
PS: Of course you should run Miui and not CM7 like I did in the example picture

Well, BatteryMonitor and SpareParts are pretty usefull, too. If you have the time to it would be a big help for me

Will edit this post in about 5 minutes with the required screenies. Good to have you back fuss good luck.
edit1: Android System eating up the most battery on normal usage. Getting screenies for you now...
Edit2: new find, alarm manager is using up random battery. I don't use alarms. Uploading screenies, sorry slow internet
Sorry couldn't do spare parts cos I'm charging.. just started a few minutes ago D:

At the moment I drained my battery with games so it wont provide you with the correct stats (I guess) Charging it now will post the screenshots asap

what are you needing from battery monitor?? it display the same as spare parts and system^^
updated previous post.

damn! xda needs spoiler so bad....
it'll be better to upload all images at imageshack.us album (?) or some other way which dont need that much scrolling

Battery is normal for me (or not?)
Hi, as soon as I finish the full charge, i'll post some screens.
Personally, i think i'm not having this problem. Battery lasts for a day and a half with a normal-heavy use.
Salut!

pls fix all miui rom problem

Ever since I turned off overclock and switched to 2G only mode and switched to 1000 max with interactiveX and bfq governors; I get very good battery life. 1.5 days on heavy usage. 2 days on moderate and 2.5 days on light.

did u install any battery saving app e.g. juicedefender ?

Nope nothing. IMO its HSDPA which is causing a lot of battery drain.

Fuss, I wouldn't like to difficult more your work, but I have to say that yesterday with MIUI V9 + VurrutKer v2 + MAX 1000 MIN 300 + sio + SmartassV2 I got an awesome battery life. Here in the forum people usually have like 2 day battery in MIUI ROM but I don't. I have to charge it every night and yesterday I was in 53% when I went to bed. Awesome. Hope it helps. Thank you

im using cpu control from aroma installer, in my oppinion much better then set cpu or no frills - if you want a choice between them let me say that no frills is reacting faster and it didnt use that much memory.
at moment vurrut 1 is my favorite because its stable

Battery Life Suggestions - Please Post SetCPU Config's Please

Good Morning Thunderbolt Community:
I am looking for the best way to extend my battery life, I have a 2750 Extended battery and still only get a little over a day of battery life. I've read that some folks are using SetCPU again, and would like a thread dedicated to those who want to share their settings to benefit others....
Thanks in advance...ChiefDroid (a.k.a Chiefd23)
Running chingys 3d rom runing set cpu st 1113 max 368 min no profiles and st the end of my 12 hour day I have 70% left. have any more questions lemme know
Liquid gingersense 1.6. Imoseyons 3.5 kernel on extreme mode. Verizon 2750 battery. I get 50 hours easy with a lot of phone usage.
Gingeritis 3D beta VI, ziggys kernel set at 245/1.344 smartass gov, with script fusion (set cpu can be a big no no with some kernels, and id rather use scripts anyway) . I get 20+ hours with average use on a stock battery.
Sent from my TBolt using my f***king thumbs...
Pureasoptheory 1.3x modded imo kernel (stock with rom) setcpu at 1222/245 interactive and a profile for less than 30% @745/245 avg is around 24 hours on stock battery with low to moderate use, maybe a couple youtube videos lots of texting a few calls and lots of web browsing.
Edit: about 50% of the time I'm on wifi vs. 4g to clarify.
M0N0LITHTH3ORY. 245/1024 extreme battsaver. Standard battery. Lucky to get 8 hours. Best battery life of any rom for me so far. Average an hour of calls, 100 texts, TweetDeck and friendcaster pretty much every hour, words with friends, and web browsing.

Hack3dao5p by dhacker29. 12 hours and I'm at 80% NO UNDERVOLTING. I will undervolt with vipermod tomorrow and report back. Don't use setCPU. Use vipermod or speedtweak. I recommend vipernod for more control.
Just plug it in every night. I can get 2 days out of my extended battery but what's the point??? Have fun with it instead of worrying about getting more than one day of battery out of it!

I think I might make the switch! How much use? light, mod, heavy?
M0N0LITHTH3ORY straight out of the box, I'm getting close to 20 hours with 20% left for the first time ever. 4g when I'm out and WIFI at home. Like I said in the MONO thread this ROM is the best out there. oh yeah stock battery too. Thanks DT!
This is by no stretch of the imagination an Android development thread.
Fits better in General. I've moved it there.
Continue.
I haven't used SetCPU on my Tbolt in a while. My config is in my sig and my settings are implemented through ScriptFusion. The following is the settings I'm using in ScriptFusion. The first image is the clock/voltage settings, the second image is time-in-state. As you see, it spends most of it's time sipping .8 volts or less. As long as I'm not tapping glass like a mad man, eeking out a full day on the stock battery isn't terribly difficult.

Mod-heavy mostly internet jtexting and Facebook with a few phonecalls here and there. GPS off
i use gingeritis 3d, wifi when im home, and when im out, i only activate mobile data if i wanna check my fb or look something up. cpu is usually max 1113600 min 8064000 scaling powersaver, i also use chainfire's nightmode setting when im not actively using my thunderbolt (tested today and seamed to help alot), auto brightness on. at the end of the day on a stock battery i am usually at 20-10%
I flashed the newest radio turned off 4g and am running CL3ANTH3ROY and i got 20 hrs on the charge off of 1.0. Im on 1.1 now at about 14.5 hrs on mod/heavy use with a little 4g use in there.
I know if you do not have 4g in your area all the time turning that off is a MANOR battery saver. If you didnt know go *#*#4636#*#*phone identity, scroll down and choose cdma auto (prl)

I charge mine every night and it makes through the whole day no matter what I throw at it. I keep email on push notifications and gps/sync on all the time. 4G is on all the time. None of those are ever turned off.
Why? Because that's how smartphones are supposed to be used! It's not a marathon race.

Can I just make a quick comment about freq_min, freq_max, and governors? I like to equate them to a car's engine. At idle (freq_min), it's should be just loafing along, doing the least needed to keep things going. At red line (freq_max), it's chugging down the fuel and kicking out all the horsepower possible to haul that ride down the road. And your governor is kinda like your cruise control. You're cruising across Nebraska, not a hill in sight (you're phone is doing nothing) and it's just BARELY tipping that throttle in to maintain. But, you hit Colorado with those big ol' hills, and now it's flooring it, letting off, then flooring it again to get over those hills. Think of those hills like you making your phone do stuff.
Here's my point:
When you set your freq_min to 800MHz with, it's like running your engine at 5000RPM, all the time, regardless of load. Setting your freq_max at 800MHz is kinda like jamming a stop under your throttle so it will never make enough power to pull you over those big hills. The idea of a governor is to throttle the speed up and down relative to the load... kinda like your cruise control. Some could do it better, some have very limited real-world application (performance and powersave), and some are pretty much ideal. It really depends on how the dev has set them up or how you've tweaked them.
I post this because I'm looking at some of the setting some of you are using and I KNOW they could be more efficient. I would encourage you to look at your time-in-state and experiment with your freq_min, freq_max, and gov. As you can tell from mine, though I have my max set at 1.49GHz, it spends VERY little time up there. It's more like the nitrous shot if things get real hairy and the system needs the extra power.
i currently use BURNTH3ORYX V1.5 w/ the MR3.5 (802) radio, also have the 2750mAh battery, and i just use the built in "performance" option. I set it to 'OnDemand' and overclock to 1.5 Jigga Hertz.
for example, last night the battery was at 100% and decided to watch the movie "Return Of The Living Dead" all the way through. when it was done, the battery was at 95%.

No. You need to flash the Bluetooth framework fix. I take it you are on stock/a stock based rom?

CM7 with a ICS Theme and even though i dont use BT i still need to flash this? Where do i find such a God given thing? lol
Sorry, for some reason i thought you said matr1x 14.5. The bluetooth bugfix is, as far as i know, only for ICS ROMs (bluetooth is always "ready" to turn on, which forces only top=on time). Turning on Screen Off Max Freq will hopefully give you some deepidle time.

Thanks bud. Not to be a nooob and all but how long does it take to initiate?
I'll get some top=off time after about 20 seconds with nothing at all in the background and using matr1x 14.5, stock ics, 100/1200, lazy and screen off max freq. I would say if you don't have anything after a 2 or 3 minutes it's not activating for some reason.

Cool ill check that out. What ROM/KERNEL combo do u have? what the battery life on that 100/1200 set up?
Cool ill check that out
I said the ROM and kernel in the post and it's in my sig too. With 4 hours of gaming and 2 hours of general internet browsing i got around 12 hours with weak 3G signal. Battery drops very little with no use, somewhere around 5%/10 hours. I havn't noticed any major battery drain OCing to 1200, just a little bit of heat on demanding games. Drain is proportional to increase in perfermance most of the time.
I'd definitely be confident going 2 days with a single charge as long as screen time is kept under a couple hours. ATM i'm playing around with different governors to get better battery life, deep idle won't be any use to me for another month or so.

This is know as the CAM bug which was fixed in ics kernels. Every time you reboot the phone your camera is active and prevents the deep idle from working. Opening and closing a camera app closes it and deep idle can start working.
Isn't the cam bug only fixable by disabling/removing google talk (or installing the non-video one)? Otherwise you are forced to open and close a camera app each time you reboot to get any top=off values.
Also, i mean true stock, google OTA. The NS4G doesn't have this yet.

Could you please explain what does screen off max freq do ? I have tried to get into those things May be now is a nice time
While screen is off, allow the processor to use max frequency (stock is 1000mhz). This allows "race-to-idle" which the hardware is capable of, effectively reducing the amount of time the CPU is processing (and therefore powered), reducing power consumption and further allowing deep-idle to work.

Best governor for battery life ? Including new ones

Iv just re rooted my phone and noticed there's like 10 new governors ... No idea what they do? I'm currently using lazy? What's best for battery life /good performance
Sent from my Nexus S using XDA App
Interactive provides lag free performance and absolutely kick ass battery life for my phone. Not as trendy as the new governors with the stupid names, but it works flawlessly for me.
My phone is extremely quick and I average 30hrs of battery life with heavy usage (4-5hrs of screen time).
Lazy governor with screen off Max frequency on and deep idle on actually drains battery.
I use conservative mostly.
Maybe smartassv2 sometimes too
No interest in all these new fancy ones.

Which kernel,rom ?
lulzactive is a great choice if you can cater its options to how you use the phone.
The past day i've been using wheatley and it's quite a nice governor performance wise and hasn't been particularly battery intensive but i havn't actually tested battery life with it. I've been a fan of lazy before this, too.
My phone didn't play nice with minmax or interactivex. Havn't tried the others for more than a few minutes if at all on the nexus.
Trial and error may be the best choice, or understand lulzactive and change settings accordingly.
I use the tweaked conservative in Steve Garon's kernel. None of them particularly stand out for me in terms of performance, but I'm getting decent battery life from this one, whereas my phone liked to behave strangely in terms of battery with some of the other ones.

Can you ppl please send your favourite setting of lulzactive governor? I`m using Android 1.2.0, kernel Matr1x 15.0, SIO, 100-800, OC 100, lulz - 80%, 2, 1, [email protected], 20000, 40000. Now (with little to no use) I have 71% left after 1 day 14 hours. But I have a feeling it eats more during use.
Little to no use = 2 calls (about 5 minutes each), say 5 sms and about 30 minutes on opera mini. Connection via wifi. I`m studying at home!
Battery life is my top priority.
With CyberGR v5 and ICUP Speedy-7, I've been getting constant 30+ hours with 4 hours screentime on Smartassv2/sio. If I don't use it other than for email and calls, pretty certain I'd hit 48 hours. Smartassv2/noop gets similar battery life but feels less smooth. The other schedulers don't give me the right balance between battery and performance.
Lulzactive is pretty good too, but it requires some effort to experiment and find the right settings according to usage habits.
I've tried Lazy and Wheatley before but both drain a bit more than Smartassv2 for me.

Haven't taken any screen shots but I've been getting good battery life out of matr1x 15 cfs; smartass v2 governor, noop scheduler, on gummy 7.2. It's been lasting me all day with fairly heavy use -- including 2+ hours of TuneIn Radio yesterday while I was waiting in line. I'm sure there are ways to get even more battery life but I'm happy if it just lasts until bedtime when I can put it on the charger.

Why are you posting that on "best governor for battery life" thread inside a NEXUS S forum?

Recommendations for kernel/ROM with good battery life

Hi,
I switched from my Galaxy S2 to a Note 3, and I'm immediately running into serious issues with battery life. After switching to low-power mode and after reconfiguring my SetCPU, I get about 16 hours with screen off and Wifi on. So, time to switch ROMs, and looking through the forum, I am unable to find any kernel/ROM comparison based upon battery life. Therefor would like to hear recommendations.
Have been looking at the X-Note, but besides a remark to pick the X-kernel for battery life for the v8.0 version, I am unable to find any info for the v7 JB version.
Looking forward hearing your experience.

Have been looking at the X-Note, but besides a remark to pick the X-kernel for battery life for the v8.0 version, I am unable to find any info for the v7 JB version.
Looking forward hearing your experience.

X-Note is a good choice, X-Note is one of the reasons why I bought a note 3(Since he was developing for note 2 first but went over to the note 3). Changing DPI is manditory for me. Default DPI is for my grandpa so he can read the screen without glasses -.-. Batterylife is quite good for me. Haven't reached 40% after a day yet.

Thank you for the info. May I ask which version you're using, the JB (7.0) or KitKat (8.0)? And, what is the X-Note Transformer compared to v7.0?
And, most important, which kernel are you suing?
Mate if you are getting 16 hrs of screen off time and no screen on time, it is not a Kernel/ROM problem, you have a rogue app installed which is causing your phone to be constantly awake and draining battery.
Definetly go for the 4.4 since it updates to KitKat which offers many benefits. There are also slight improvements in battery life.
As for the ROMs I've tested all Custom ROMs and honestly it's about preference. Check the additions they provide and decide what's best for you. I'm a battery nut and believe me none of the ROMs add any actual benefit to battery life over stock for 4.4.
Personally for me, since I love a lean install and don't like that much modifications I found Stock Samsung 4.4 works best for me. I just use ES file explorer to debloat it from all the apps I don't want and procede to installing the apps I use I've found that you can expect around 6.5 hours of on screen time with auto brightness +5 and no rogue apps (no apps that require constant gps syncying and what not) spread over from 1 to 3 days depending on how you use your phone. That is light web browsing, chatting and movie watching. Games will suck your battery dry like space fuel on the Note 3.
As for the Kernel on the 4.4 bootloader you don't have a lot of choices. Afaik the only ones available at the moment and CustomN3 and FlexKat engine. Considering you are asking for battery life I'm guessing you are more interested in power perserving than overclocking. I would go with FlexKat since it supports intelliplug and intellidemand gov. Actually I am testing it at the moment my self. I get 1k more points in AnTuTu using intelliplug and intellidemand compardd tl Stock Kernel. Seems pretty smooth and stable for now, haven't run in any issues but I've only been uskng it since last night. Battery usage for now is 35%, with 2.5 hours of screen time and over 16 hours of total since uplugged. Can't really compare to Stock Kernel yet but it doesn't seem like there will be any major difference.
I tried all roms actually, But nothing suited me. Till I jouned x-note. From x-note 7 I waited till 8, and installed it the same day it came. 8 is super stable, havent had problems(except for some apps which arent compatible with kitkat).
Thanks for the feedback, which I highly appreciate. I must admit being kind of a battery freak too, and I like a UI to be simple and practical. My golden rule is that whenever I carry the mobile in my pocket, I don't care about speed. Just keep them as low as possible in order to keep running stable.
When I look at what's draining the battery then at the top are Cell Standby 18%, Android OS (4.3) 18%, Device Idle 11% and my K-9 email app which stays active 11%. And these numbers are with low power mode activated, and with SetCPU setting minimum frequencies with screen off (the stock kernel doesn't allow for a voltage configuration). When staying with the same OS 4.3, I may be able to improve this by maximum 30%, in going from 1.2V to 800 or 850 mV in standby.
I'll give the X-Note 4.4 a try, and using the X-kernel may then also be beneficial. Will report on the result.
Thanks

That's a 2nd one on the list. Can you please be more specific about the battery life? How does it compare with what was mentioned for the X-Rom?

Wanted to do the flash and ran into a question. I downloaded the Poland KitKat official ROM, but the poor thing is only 3 MB and when I try to open it, both windows and winrar, I get the message "unknown format". Is it maybe only a patch that's applied to the 4.3? But then I should still be able to open it. Any advice?

Love a new battery
I found my battery was swollen and dropping charges in less that 8 hours, so replaced it with a new one and wow!!!
Rom: ublpk deodexed and zipaligned
Kernel: Coco 9.8 with PegasusQplus and sioplus set. Not overclocked and deepsleep set to 4.
Lots of apps greenified (purchased full version, best buy I made... just saying)

So, i got my new battery yesterday. first i'm gonna calibrate it and in some day i'll post the results, but until now it is looking good.
For now i'll post the use of my old original battery after a simple recalibration, my screen time was usually only around 2h30 min before the battery died. But after the recalibration got these nice results! well, actually since i had to read some pdf on the phone i used it with min brightness wile reading for like 2-3 hourse so with a normal use i guess the screen time would be less.
rom: pac-man 4.4.2 04.05.2014 nightly
kernel: stock
i greenified only the apps that eat more battery like facebook and yahoo mail.
didnt overclock at all, so max 1000mhz min200mhz
cpu governor: abyssplug
i/o scheduler: sioplus for both internal and external memory

don't remember where i read it, some forum. Anyway, let your phone discharge completely, till it dies and with the phone shut down plug it in charge and let it charge for about 6-8hrs. so better if you do it overnight. When you wake up in the morning turn on the phone while still pluged in and let it charge for another 5-10 mins, done. Do it for 2 days in a row and they say that the battery should be recalibrated like this every 2-3 months
In my device, don't pass 6hrs, our battery sucks! hahaha:laugh:

This time i didnt use low brightness at all, on automatic all the time and internet data was on almost all the time so the results are pretty good i guess, considering that the rom isn't really battery friendly. The result is just a little better than the original battery, as expected from a 1700mah battery. At least it seams really a 1700 mah battery, not like i've read that many ppl bought batteries that was said to have 1800mah or more but was worse than the original
Ok
My battery problem are going to to be fixed soon. My battery is half square and half convex.
This is my current battery live.
