Did anyone else have horrible battery life running the Miui ROM??

Try wiping battery stats in clockwork, and do a power cycle.
Sent from my SCH-I500 using Tapatalk
It's well documented that some people have bad battery life in miui.
I would suggest wiping absolutely everything, and make sure you have the battery charged fully when you flash it. (i know that sounds like voodoo magic BS, but it worked for me, and supposedly it has for other people as well)
I guess I'm just special, I flashed with like half battery and just wiped cache and data.

Sent from my SCH-I500 using XDA Premium App
I was very lucky to get three hours but I would say that was relatively heavy use. In the end I decided to go to the AOSP rom. It seems now like my battery never wants to charge all the way and every time I reboot the battery stats are way different, going to have to figure that out soon or go back to ec10.

The newest miui rom has a overclock on the processor, you could find a kernel that undervolts for better life.
The peanut butter jelly aosp kernel has a 100 uv that I've been running, after a couple days to let the phone get used to the new firmware it is working great and good battery life

First, sorry for the new thread & odd spot. I looked for 30 minutes to see if I was duplicating a question, but the search function on this app seems to do absolutely nothing. I also can't post in dev, yet; so I hope The Collective checks this forum.
R3velation works great, and looks even better; I'm very happy I gave it a look.
That said, I have 2 issues:
1. The battery drains FAST. Sitting idle with WiFi & Bluetooth turned off, I lose 50% of the charge in 6 hours. I'm still researching how to operate things like the voltage app that came with the ROM, but if anyone has tips I'd love to hear them.
2. The main reason for this post; sometimes when the screen is off, it just won't come back on. The only thing I can find that works is to remove the battery. Any ideas what this might be!?
Thanks to The Collective for this awesome ROM!
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I997 using xda premium
Question 2 is a sod which they are working figuring out what is causing it. add for battery drain there is an app on the forums called better battery stats you may have to search for it on a computer to find it because i agree the search on this xda app sucks. But that app will help find the cause of the battery drain

I'm having a major issue with R3V v2 and I need help fixing this ASAP because it is the best ROM I have flashed to date!!!! Everything works like clockwork except data. I can send text messages but any other app that requires a data connection does not work (no network connection). Does this sound like a modem flash error? X- I downloaded the ROM from your sig.
Have you tried re-flashing? I had a similar issue with a different ROM on my tablet. Re-flashing the ROM fixed it.

Yes, I had tried re-flashing the original ROM I had downloaded for Experiments signature. That file might have been faulty? idk. Last night after posting about my issue and not wanting to wait another moment to enjoy this awesome ROM I did some research on XDA and found a post where Nun had a link to download R3V v2 but the file had the letter "F" at the end so I figured it to be a different file. Long story short, a little late for that huh? IT WORKED!! Thanks to the Collective, especially Experiment for this splendid ROM.
I know, right? This ROM is the nicest I've seen for Android, yet. Run R3velation OTA, and look at some of the further mods you can get for it. Under "Themes", there's one called "Mongo Toggles (blue)" by X and Mongo41. It looks VERY sweet. The light amounts of blue mixed with the beautiful toggles for the quick panel are awesome. I need to get in touch with them and ask them to make one that has purple in place of the blue. I'd never need another theme if I had that, heh.
Glad you were able to get up and running.
Did you battery life ever smooth out? There is a typically a period of three days or so where you need to wait for a rom to, "settle" before the battery will calm down. Then it should start acting much better.
The SOD issue is one that has been driven to the point of extinction. I ran R3V for a long time, and had no issues. I am now running another rom, and I am having issues. It's all what your phone likes and doesn't like I think. Good luck figuring it out man.

Thanks for the heads up. I just put the KL2 on the phone, we'll see how that does me.
Maybe it's my imagination, but this modem seems awesome. Battery life seems to have tripled, and I'm not dropping calls at the dead spots in town. What all does the modem cover, just phone & AT&T data? It doesn't handle Bluetooth or WiFi, does it?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I997 using xda premium
As far as I understand, a modem is only responsible for pulling the voice and data connections from your provider. The best explanation I've found on it is from this thread here:http://http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=22913686&postcount=1
That's what I thought (I had originally misunderstood, and thought there was a modem for voice, for data, for WiFi, for Bluetooth...found out a couple weeks ago that was wrong).
Anyway, that KL2 modem is great. I've only lost 13% of my battery in the last 9 hours with WiFi, Data, GPS, and auto-rotation all turned on. This is as opposed to 50% in 8 hours with WiFi only turned on. (Idling both times, as I was asleep.) It also seems to not be affected by the same dead spots the other modem had, as I didn't drop calls while driving past them like I used to.
I keep getting a FC when trying to open play store help please

I get random signal drops on the stock T-Mobile 2.3.4 rom. I have updated to the March Baseband using the LG updater tool. I just got this phone 2 days ago and I was wondering if there are any fixes for this?
Sometimes I jump from 4g > 2g.
Sometimes I jump from 4 bars > No signal.
These both happen even if I'm not moving.

See if you can bring yourself back to the July baseband. You may have to go without 2.3.4, but you could get yourself a better functioning phone instead. Lol.
Once on that, maybe try a stock 2.3.3, OR a custom rom.
I'd suggest flashing cwm and trying qwes 2.3.4 .. then use titanium backup to freeze the bloat or remove it. Prolly wont help, but its worth a shot before downgrading the BB.
I had hella issues with 2.3.3 which led me to xboarders modified stock without bloat and most of my issues went away...
Then I went to cm7 and had no issues at all. (Unfortunately the new bb doesn't work with cm yet)

The only time I have had that issue was with arcee's selfkangs of ics/CM9. But once I switched to aokp, I didn't have any issues with signal dropping.
This phone was a **** show for T-Mobile and LG. To be honest with you, the phone functions way better with custom roms. Cm7 with faux kernel (stock voltage) and I didn't have an issue.
The quality control on these phones was prolly crap. You may have to play the mix and match game with roms and kernels.

Try Hellfire Phoenix.
I know you said you don't want to do custom ROMs, and I'm guessing you'd rather avoid rooting (since you said it wasn't currently rooted), but honestly...you're not going to have a good experience w/your G2X unless you do.
I bought my G2X, when they first came out, and haven't been happy with any of the Tmo/LG updates/releases. Including the 2.3.4. I have noticed better GPS lock w/the 2.3.4 release, but I'm also getting random signal drops, and having issues with wifi calling...even on kwes ROM. (I should mention that kwes 2.3.4 is far more stable than the LG release)
The best experience I had, was with WeaponG2X (2.3.3/July bb). It was stable as hell, and had lots of nice extras. I may end up going back to that. However, I have also noticed, through my years w/Tmo, that I will get signal drops off and on for awhile, then they stop. So, it could be that Tmo is messing with their towers or equipment, and it's not actually our phones. If my issues persist, I may give up the better GPS lock, and go back to Weapon & the older bb. For now, I'm going to wait it out a bit.
Good luck w/your G2X.

Well, I really don't want to flash any custom roms unless it's ICS. I have AOKP on my Hp Touchpad and I love it; however, on all ICS builds the camera isn't working (namely AOKP, which is the rom of my choice). Since the camera isn't working on CM9/ICS builds I won't flash them since I use the camera regularly.
Now about CWM, I just flashed using NVFlash the experimental touchscreen version and I rooted my phone using SuperOneClick. I'm now in the process of removing tmobile bloatware (ex. WIFI Calling, Mobile apps, etc).
Anyway, I'll report back with the results.

I leave for work about 130 and when I get off at 11 I would have about 60 to 65% battery left. On breaks and lunch I use the piss outta the phone.
With 2.3.3 I would get about 7 hours and it would die..
With 2.3.4 I have about 50% left at the end of work.
I can't wait till the new baseband is compadible with aokp, I've got really high expections for the battery life.
With cm9 kangs (i hate to even call aokp a kang, but it is in the name) the free app videocam illusion ( I think that's the name) allows video recording but the quality isn't best, but it works. The native camera apps will take pics, but forces closes on video.
Id run aokp see how that does. Then if its all good, try fauxs kernals. Keep in mind before flashing a kernal, backup ur rom. Just in case fauxs kernal has issue.. ( I can run faux kernals with stock voltage, when I do the undervolt, I have issues... some phones can handle it, others can't).
Hope my rambling helps.

Deleting bloatware on stock kernal didn't help, so I switched to AOKP. So now I'm testing that out to see if I still get the random signal drops. If a custom rom doesn't help I'm going to try a new SIM card, maybe the one I'm using sucks.

I have been trying to figure out the battery drain caused by android system for the past week. I am on cleanrom lite v4 and if it wasn't for that I would b getting great battery. I was looking through everything and found that my Android system version was still VBRLJ1 while everything else was the K1 leak. I could this be causing my problem and how do I fix it? Okay well to help figure it out. Charge you're battery fully, unplug it and don't touch it at all for at least an hour. The best is to leave it over night. Then post your BBS results. That way all that is shown is what is draining upper battery.

Well, BetterBatteryStats is probably your best bet to figure out what's draining your battery.
You also have an international GSIII (i9300) however this section is for the US GSIII (SCH-I535) which has different hardware so you should probably head over to the i9300 section for proper support beyond what anyone can say regarding BetterBatteryStats.

That's not going to tell you if its a virus noob. It could be any number of things causing the slowdown. What are your friends credentials because if its not a background in networking security he's got nothing but here say. Unfortunately for you I am a security professional. The likelihood of a virus is slim to none. Its more likely memory issues some apps probably consuming more than its share.

Hey thanx to all who responded. I ended up backing up my phone and doing a reset. Lost all my sips but that's no biggie. Went back with sock ICS and all seems to be fine. Once again thanx for helping out a somewhat noob!
So just to see if I understood :
You are using stock but rooted (?)
And your battery last only two hours.
I had the same issue with a ROM. First you have to shut off al your radios, data, gps, wifi, bt... Just to be aware if none of these things that are draining your battery life.
Then you should try to verify your battery charger. There's an sticky here in the forum. And lastly you have to check wakelocks... There's a good discussion about that here also.
I know it's kind of disappointing at the beginning, but when you finally understand all the symptoms of your phone you will solve all the troubles really quick... It's like having a newborn baby, at the beginning you don't know why they cry but when you learn about them you can identify every "kind of cry".
Best regards.
