Miui ?? - Samsung Mesmerize

Did anyone else have horrible battery life running the Miui ROM??
Sent from my SCH-I500 using XDA App

Mine is pretty much the same as ec10.

I unplugged it from 100% charged..used it for 5 mins and it drained to 90%..anyway to fix this??

Try wiping battery stats in clockwork, and do a power cycle.
Sent from my SCH-I500 using Tapatalk

It's well documented that some people have bad battery life in miui.
I would suggest wiping absolutely everything, and make sure you have the battery charged fully when you flash it. (i know that sounds like voodoo magic BS, but it worked for me, and supposedly it has for other people as well)

I guess I'm just special, I flashed with like half battery and just wiped cache and data.

Same here...im getting almost 12 hours if mild moderate use...then I'm around 25%
Sent from my SCH-I500 using XDA Premium App

I was very lucky to get three hours but I would say that was relatively heavy use. In the end I decided to go to the AOSP rom. It seems now like my battery never wants to charge all the way and every time I reboot the battery stats are way different, going to have to figure that out soon or go back to ec10.

The newest miui rom has a overclock on the processor, you could find a kernel that undervolts for better life.

The peanut butter jelly aosp kernel has a 100 uv that I've been running, after a couple days to let the phone get used to the new firmware it is working great and good battery life

This is my second captivate that I got to replace my other one. The other one had amazing battery life and now that I have the new one, it" sucks".

Yes. Same everything. Tried calibrating battery. Everything that drains is off. Is it a faulty unit?

There its always a chance
If your phone last 8-10 hrs then no you can improve by playing around. If it last like 5 hrs and you have calibrated and have gone through a couple bat cycles then maybe there is an issue.
Chances are, you need to play around

Battery life is garbage.

I need help my battery life is terrible and I don't know how to fix. I have a battery information app and the battery chart drops.

We're going to need more information than that to help you out.
ROM?
Kernel?
Name of "Battery Monitoring" App?
Current Data use?
Signal strength in your area?
All of these will be very helpful in figuring out what your issue is.
Try to be patient, I'm a little new. But here's what I know.
Froyo 2.2
Kernel 2.6.32.9
Battery Monitor Widget App
Data usage isn't high.
I don't know how to find ROM
My display takes 93% but my brightness is all the way down and my signal is always pretty strong.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I897 using XDA Premium App
Im guessing your one the stock at&t froyo. Think about going into the captivate android development section and flash a custom rom. They seem to provide better battery life and are much better than what came with this phone.

You can also disable wifi, bluetooth, and GPS when not in use - that should help.
In my experience the fastest way to better battery life is flash a new kernel. speedmod-kernel-i897-k13e is very stable. Also turn off auto-rotate and auto brightness.
A big battery killer for me is background data and auto sync, I leave it all off, along with the stuff every one else said.
Also, try calibrating your battery.
The only thing I've done to my phone is root. And I've turned off all the auto stuff, I have no idea how to "flash the rom" or anything else.

If your display takes up 93% of battery that's usually a good sign, it means that there's probably nothing in the background sucking up all the juice. Have you tried "bump charging" or replacing the battery? They do tend to go bad or lose calibration if you've overheated them one too many times.
Whenever I charge my phone it seems to get extremely hot. The battery app said like 115° to 120°

Is that f or c? My battery temp is 33 degrees c.

Try Juice Defender in the Android Market, made a big different for me.
In my experience Froyo roms have all been garbage battery life *first leak, stock, Perception, Cognition, SuperNova, Phoenix Unleashed* I could never get more then 10 hours on the battery and less with wifi on. Now with GB *perception 2 beta 3*, I get 18 hours with Bluetooth on, Background Sync On, under H *3G*, and the original battery that came with the phone. I am putting up with some of the issues that 2.3.3 has but to me I cannot go back to froyo as my battery life has never been this good Including with jf6 2.1 that originally shipped with my phone.
HTH,
Charlie
I put it on the charger. Only went up to 35c (95f)

While that may be the case, it doesn't always provide for the best signal. You have to test each one and see what works best for your area/situation.
Your battery temp seems very high. You may want to swap the battery before trying other things. Is the phone new? If so, At&t store should agree to swap it out for you.

Have you tried a different rom? That one should have pretty good battery life though. If you are doing EVERY single thing that, that thread suggests.. you should be able to have your battery last for a week.. He takes it to the extreme. VERY well done though.

you may have a bad flash...occasionally a reflash may fix it if you haven't tried.
with zeus, i don't recommend any other external cwm flash tweaks if you tried them
Maybe you gotta bum battery.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I997 using xda premium
does the ics theme have anything to do with the bad battery life?
You seem to be the only one having this problem and if it's when you try other roms as well then it's probably a hardware issue.

Flash other modem, sometimes it help a lot.

ICS leak battery...

Well blah lol did you freeze any aps or do anything special? All I'm running is jd and brightness turned all the way down
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I727 using xda premium
so far 3hrs screen on time full brightness data on wifi on gps on and 65% battery left i would call it good
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I727 using Tapatalk
My battery life has been awesome! Going on 11hrs with medium usage and still at 73%.
I also noticed with stock and other ROM's, at night when phone was in an idle state I'd get up the next morning and battery had dropped anywhere from 20% - 25%; this morning after ICS install it had only dropped 3%, so much improvements in my case.
Well maybe I'm just a battery whore lol romracer needs to hurry up and make a kernel his always gives me long battery
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I727 using xda premium
You don't have to freeze, you can pretty much disable most of the bloat in the settings. I just hid the rest which is very little at that point.
But without doing that to begin with, my battery life was much better the moment I switched to ICS.
Won't even last a night with my after flashing last night.
Getting so much errors even after multiple resets.
Nice to have it now, but it need to be a little bit more stable for me to continue to use on a regular basis.

Ridiculous battery drainage

I recently switched to hyperdrive ROM again, and the battery drain is absolutely ridiculous.. I watched 4% drain as I was making this post. I have included screenshots of battery stats, can someone tell me what's up? One thing to note is that it may be my charger, because I bent the metal part that goes in my phone a while ago. Should that affect the battery life? I just wanted to make sure it wasn't something to do with my setup before going out to buy a new charger.
Sent from my SCH-I535 using xda app-developers app
I see cray drains when I flash a new rom too. A charge, a complete discharge, maybe twice and it goes back to normal. When was the last time you did that?
Same it usually takes a couple of days for me to see real battery life in a ROM. I'd test it out for a day or 2 and see if you have any improvements

Looking for an update from OP. C'mon!

do you calabrate your battery after switching roms?
That's been debunked but you can akways try.
Sent from my SCH-I535 using xda app-developers app
What kernal are you running? Depending on the governor, I got really bad battery life with 4glte . Its kind of trial and error though.
Let the ROM stabilize for a while.
