Two hour battery life please help - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S II Skyrocket SGH-I727

I'm ruining stock ICS 4.0.4. Noticed yesterday my phone was really sluggish and battery life would go from%100 to dead in about two hours. I went into settings then apps and looked at my running apps and my phone was scrolling through all of my apps. I don't think that's normal. My widgets are slow to activate and my phone is slow to respond. Any help would be appreciated. Does this sound like a virus or a simple fix?

I did hear that from a friend and I didn't believe it...
Now I'm starting to believe...
Best way fresh install, format internal sd.
That way you know for sure if it's a virus or not.
Good luck!

That's not going to tell you if its a virus noob. It could be any number of things causing the slowdown. What are your friends credentials because if its not a background in networking security he's got nothing but here say. Unfortunately for you I am a security professional. The likelihood of a virus is slim to none. Its more likely memory issues some apps probably consuming more than its share.

Bad info and fear are not good input either. The reset would probably help but not because of a virus but freeing up tons of previously used space.

When looking at my running apps, should they be constantly scrolling? I've ran Norton malware and it came up clean.

This is a good idea.
You may have a app wakelocking keeping your CPU running and not deep sleeping like stated above there is like a .01 percent chance its a virus.
Wipe every thing reflash ROM of choice let settle then install your apps one a time waiting a few minutes between them so u can see witch one dose it.

Read up on the wake lock thread and see what betterbatterystats tells you. Or you could just flash a new rom

Hey thanx to all who responded. I ended up backing up my phone and doing a reset. Lost all my sips but that's no biggie. Went back with sock ICS and all seems to be fine. Once again thanx for helping out a somewhat noob!

So just to see if I understood :
You are using stock but rooted (?)
And your battery last only two hours.
I had the same issue with a ROM. First you have to shut off al your radios, data, gps, wifi, bt... Just to be aware if none of these things that are draining your battery life.
Then you should try to verify your battery charger. There's an sticky here in the forum. And lastly you have to check wakelocks... There's a good discussion about that here also.
I know it's kind of disappointing at the beginning, but when you finally understand all the symptoms of your phone you will solve all the troubles really quick... It's like having a newborn baby, at the beginning you don't know why they cry but when you learn about them you can identify every "kind of cry".
Best regards.

Could use some suggestions.

I've used every rom on XDA and they're all great in their own way. I'm currently running the latest miui by whitehawkx. At first it was great but now I'm getting slow down and random loss of signal that only returns with a restart. I also have problems with the screen not turning back on properly. I press the lock button and the screen will light up like its about to turn on or it will flash the lockscreen for a second then go blank. Only fix is to relock then unlock again, quite a pain.
I'm looking for a daily rom that will get me at least 9 hours of battery life, is fast and responsive. Like I said, I've used all of the roms here but I don't want to go through the hassle of setting everything up for each rom and testing for multiple days to make a choice. Personal choices are welcome but please say why you like it.
On a side note, does anyone know why updates have pretty much stopped for all the roms our phone can use?
Thank you!

Try Weapon 3. I have been using it for a few weeks without any problems. Better battery life is accomplished with turning off GPS, Bluetooth and data when you're not using them. As well, don't run unnecessary apps and don't overclock.

Was actually in the process of downloading weapon. I can't shut data off since I need constant access to my email but otherwise I already do the other things. I've only been able to get about 10 max on my phone regardless of the rom, might have a bad battery.

I used GiggleBread with Trinity kernel and got over 25 hours as a max. On average I'd be around 16-18 hours with that combo. Try that. And this is with moderate use.

I have listened. I learned how to use my sd card. I fixed network issues. Also stream lined my apps. No double apps. I even managed more ram. I'm happy. I use a auto kill so doubt its doing it because I safe everything. My only issues now.
1. Google maps keeps deleting its self
2. My go locker changes
When this happens is at random. Doesn't seem be anything app doing it. I'm thinking its my Rom possibly. Bone. Skeeter
Doing my best bro. My phone is my only computer. Hard to read up as well as on a computer.
Thanks for the help.

Anybody know how to prevent phone reboot?

So I have Nexus S and this doesn't happen a lot but about every month or so my phone just reboots itself. I know why this happens, but I wanna know If I can prevent it...
I know this sounds stupid but I am hoping that I can prevent it... I'm not rooted or anything so I can't do anything that has anything with rooting.
Thanks
Sent from my Nexus S using XDA App
More often then not it has to do with some sort of memory leak, and your ram bleeds out so the phone reboots. Can be caused by almost anything, system apps, user apps etc. Also, how long is your uptime on your phone? The longer its on typically the lower the available resources.
Follow the leader @corythug
Um not mor than like 2 weeks... Also when my Nexus S booted up, it randomly rebooted itself again which was kinda weird... Any suggestions?

Leave it alone. You're much better than anyone else here who has this happening almost every day LOL
I suggest rebooting every week or so just for the sake of preventing it. But no matter what you do you'll get a reboot eventually. Maybe get an app that forces a reboot at night everyday. But seriously if you have an up time of 2 weeks than that's very good
i generally try to reboot manually once daily, it keeps the phone speedy and gremlin free
Thanks everyone! I was worried that I have to wipe my phone! I'm glad that there's nothing wrong with my phone!

Indeed. You need to run Watchdog or something similar to find out which app or process is gobbling up your CPU/battery consumption. More info you give, the more the community can try to help...

Weird man. Never heard of it.
However what you can do is isolate when it happens.
Is it there on boot up?
When did it start?
What had you previously installed when it started?
Start with the latest app you installed, and start freezing/deleting apps until the process stops. I can almost guarantee you its an app you have installed. just got to figure out which one it is. Let us know what you find!

For now it disappeared after a full charge but I think I know what app it could have been. A app call data switcher to enable or disable my mobile data to save battery so I don't know why it would use so much?

The rild, if I'm not mistaken, is the radio layer or telephony interface/stack. What system version are you on, 2.3.5 or 2.3.6? Rooted, rom, etc?
rild includes the following packages: (?)
Sim Toolkit
com.motorola.phoneaddons
com.motorola.hiddenmenu
ConnMO
Programming Menu
Phone
Dialer Storage
com.motorola.setupwizard.phoneservice
Orientation Notifier
Have you tried factory reset and run stock 2.3.6 (no apps) and see if you're still having the same battery consumption?
Sent from my MB865 using xda premium
I'm running stock 2.3.6 because im waiting for ICS instead of rooting and because of fear of bricking
Sent from my MB865 using xda premium
This exact thing happened to me, same process...
What were you doing all day on your device when it started to happen?
Sent from my MB865 using xda premium
Well it's an app, thats for sure. Could it be an antivirus program you use? And this is it's realtime protection that constantly runs in the background or something like that?
Sent from my ME865 using XDA
I had this same issue with my new Atrix 2 (running 2.3.6 and rooted). RXNDRV seems to be related to a service named "Rx Networks PGPS Seed Downloader", which per their website seems to be an app that downloads A-GPS data weekly. For some reason it's chewing up a ton of CPU time on my phone and using more battery than any other application. I disabled it and the battery issues went away.
i use a app called apptraffic free. it monitors wifi and mobile seperately. its helped me when i had a rouge app taking over.
Me too. Atrix. Sigh.
Atrix, brand new w/ AT&T, NOT rooted. Android 2.3.6
All you have to do is google "RxNDrv" and you come up with Atrix users.
It is not regular. My phone might be fine for a couple days, then one day RxNDrv will go for a drive and kill my battery in a matter of hours, and do that every day... then stop. It's. Really. Aggravating.

Just read the forums and try them, that's the only way to know.

There really isn't a consensus choice of the most stable rom as all have a problem or two. It doesn't help that we all have varying opinions of each Rom.
It really takes some trial and error.
For example, I've tried a few, but I'm back on 4.2 because my phone seems to be allergic to 4.3. Every rom I've tried seems to have a battery sacking element to it, in most cases it's wifi running nonstop and the phone overheating. One time it was Google+ doing it. In all cases, others on the rom weren't experiencing similar issues.
So, it might be dependent on your own experiences with each rom.

How? If so I would live to try it out tonight and see if it works.
I was in my house where I have wifi. I set it to off and it would just run the wifi, according to better battery stats, and the phone gets really hot and the battery drains extremely fast. CM, Liquid, Paranoid. All 4.3 roms hate my phone unless I really do have some feature on incorrectly. I hope you are right.
