R3velation issue - Samsung Infuse 4G

First, sorry for the new thread & odd spot. I looked for 30 minutes to see if I was duplicating a question, but the search function on this app seems to do absolutely nothing. I also can't post in dev, yet; so I hope The Collective checks this forum.
R3velation works great, and looks even better; I'm very happy I gave it a look.
That said, I have 2 issues:
1. The battery drains FAST. Sitting idle with WiFi & Bluetooth turned off, I lose 50% of the charge in 6 hours. I'm still researching how to operate things like the voltage app that came with the ROM, but if anyone has tips I'd love to hear them.
2. The main reason for this post; sometimes when the screen is off, it just won't come back on. The only thing I can find that works is to remove the battery. Any ideas what this might be!?
Thanks to The Collective for this awesome ROM!
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I997 using xda premium

Question 2 is a sod which they are working figuring out what is causing it. add for battery drain there is an app on the forums called better battery stats you may have to search for it on a computer to find it because i agree the search on this xda app sucks. But that app will help find the cause of the battery drain

I'm having a major issue with R3V v2 and I need help fixing this ASAP because it is the best ROM I have flashed to date!!!! Everything works like clockwork except data. I can send text messages but any other app that requires a data connection does not work (no network connection). Does this sound like a modem flash error? X- I downloaded the ROM from your sig.

Have you tried re-flashing? I had a similar issue with a different ROM on my tablet. Re-flashing the ROM fixed it.

Yes, I had tried re-flashing the original ROM I had downloaded for Experiments signature. That file might have been faulty? idk. Last night after posting about my issue and not wanting to wait another moment to enjoy this awesome ROM I did some research on XDA and found a post where Nun had a link to download R3V v2 but the file had the letter "F" at the end so I figured it to be a different file. Long story short, a little late for that huh? IT WORKED!! Thanks to the Collective, especially Experiment for this splendid ROM.

I know, right? This ROM is the nicest I've seen for Android, yet. Run R3velation OTA, and look at some of the further mods you can get for it. Under "Themes", there's one called "Mongo Toggles (blue)" by X and Mongo41. It looks VERY sweet. The light amounts of blue mixed with the beautiful toggles for the quick panel are awesome. I need to get in touch with them and ask them to make one that has purple in place of the blue. I'd never need another theme if I had that, heh.
Glad you were able to get up and running.

Did you battery life ever smooth out? There is a typically a period of three days or so where you need to wait for a rom to, "settle" before the battery will calm down. Then it should start acting much better.
The SOD issue is one that has been driven to the point of extinction. I ran R3V for a long time, and had no issues. I am now running another rom, and I am having issues. It's all what your phone likes and doesn't like I think. Good luck figuring it out man.

Thanks for the heads up. I just put the KL2 on the phone, we'll see how that does me.

Maybe it's my imagination, but this modem seems awesome. Battery life seems to have tripled, and I'm not dropping calls at the dead spots in town. What all does the modem cover, just phone & AT&T data? It doesn't handle Bluetooth or WiFi, does it?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I997 using xda premium

As far as I understand, a modem is only responsible for pulling the voice and data connections from your provider. The best explanation I've found on it is from this thread here:http://http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=22913686&postcount=1

That's what I thought (I had originally misunderstood, and thought there was a modem for voice, for data, for WiFi, for Bluetooth...found out a couple weeks ago that was wrong).
Anyway, that KL2 modem is great. I've only lost 13% of my battery in the last 9 hours with WiFi, Data, GPS, and auto-rotation all turned on. This is as opposed to 50% in 8 hours with WiFi only turned on. (Idling both times, as I was asleep.) It also seems to not be affected by the same dead spots the other modem had, as I didn't drop calls while driving past them like I used to.

I keep getting a FC when trying to open play store help please

The advice/opinions that you're looking for smacks you right in face as soon as you enter this forum. The update is a fresh topic and you don't have to search all that hard for the answer. Just take the time and read. The advice given to you are the same stuff mentioned all over this forum.
Geah!
Pros:
GPS locking - I was surprised running around town how responsive it was.
Battery life. I screwed up on calibrating my battery and pulled the batt at 64% instead of waiting till it died. At that point it was at 17 hours up time and I play with my phone a lot, I play Order and Chaos and that is battery killer and even with 2-4 hours of play it held strong. Currently I'm re-calibrating the battery once more and it's at 19 hours+ and 60%.I keep half expecting a sudden drop to 0 or a random power off but it seems to be going strong.
Speed up - What can I say? it seems more responsive.. may be placebo.
No FC's since I updated a few days ago., usually I'd have one a day at least. App loadout is the same
CONS:
Camera app sucks - We need that Lg camera app.
Data connectivity - seems to be about the same, random, unexplained drops in data.
Bricking - Seems the update under windows Vista/ Win 7 64 bit CAN have issues. I flashed mine from my workstation at work which is STILL running XP and it was fine.
That's about the short of it from my POV, others have reported issues with reboots still, bricking, and it slapping their children when they aren't looking, but I think those people may be ReRe's anyway.
It is very hard to differentiate real issues and user caused from bad flash or maybe rough titanium restore
Sent from my LG-P999 using XDA App
Updating with windows 7 64 bit and having issues is myth.
I was rooted on stock rom and updated when windows 7 64 bit.
All this nonsense of windows 7 being incompatible is a false rumor.
Infact, of anything windows 7 should be better since it's more modern software for a modern cell phone that was just issued a modern update.
Sometimes, I doubt the credibility of this forum and the advice that's posted, just because.
Of course it is worth.

If you are already running the older leaked GB or a custom GB ROM and are stable then the answer is no. If you are running Froyo or a custom Froyo ROM and are stable then the answer is no. Since I went from the older leaked GB (v20c or whatever it was) to this one I experience the sleep of death EVERY time I charge overnight. I experience the SoD intermittently during daily usage with absolutely NO correlation to anything I do. Good news is no spontaneous reboots. Although if the SoD issue continues I will just wipe and go with EB or CM7 and Faux's kernel. All I can say is LG/T-Mo dropped the ball on this one.

You should try wiping everything and installing a custom Rom or a rooted stock Rom and see if problem persists, could be a software issue. There are plenty of stock rooted gb Roms buried a few pages back in dev forum.
Check my sig. Stock roms. There is a rooted gingerbread PD98img, stock. I think it's the 3rd one, iirc.
With the phone plugged into the charger take a pic with flash on and see if your phone resets. Could be a battery issue.

That would be my recommendation. If you knew someone with another inspire you could try their battery. Actually your battery should be under warranty. If your phone is stock looking then you could probably take it to an ATT store and let them check it out and get 1 for free. Or even a call to 611 ATT support might get you a new battery for free. Just tell them it won't hold a charge and the flash causes your phone to reboot and you tried a friends battery and it fixed the issue. ATT has very understanding customer support.
It definitely sounds like a battery issue. I had a very similar issue. My phone would shut off at random times, and one thing that caused it was the camera flash. I picked up a new HTC battery on eBay for like $14, and it runs like a dream! If you cant fork over the money for the HTC brand battery, there are lots of cheaper chinese batteries for like $2 a piece. They would be good to just test and see if the battery is the issue if you cant find a buddy that could let you use a battery for troubleshooting, before you buy an HTC battery.
Absolutely! the same thing happened to me a few weeks ago. A new battery solved the issue. If you have a warranty/protection plan call up At&T and they'll take it from there.
Man, I love forums! I was just having this problem this week! I guess my brutal punishment to my battery over Winter break has cost me (I was running the phone down to 0% multiple times a day). Time to get a new battery.

Digging into the problem
I was going crazy with this problem! I wonder now what is the problem with the battery, because mine it seems like it keeps current like a good battery. Does anyoane has any "hardware-electrical" explanation?
Anyway, at least I have one solution and I am partially happy with it.

I'm assuming when you say it "keeps current" you have been using a current widget. The camera flash puts a heavy load on the battery. On an older battery, it may look like it's fine at idle or doing simple tasks, but it can no longer handle the tough tasks.

[Q] Service drops

Hey guys,
I'm running InfinityROM on my Charge. Throughout the day, I'll look at my phone and see that there is no mobile data (4g) coming to my phone, theres no bar to judge what is coming in or anything. If I turn mobile data on and off sometimes it will come back after 4-5 minutes, otherwise a restart brings it back. But it gets really annoying trying to get on the internet for a quick answer and it turns out to be a 10 minute procedure to get what I needed. What's going [email protected][email protected]?
For some reason maybe the Sim went bad.
I've been having that problem too. Seems that its been getting better through.

You should try tweakstock rom, it's the best, very stable, not service or lte drops. Infinity has quite a bit of weird issues. I have tried infinity, eclipse and tweakstock, I found tweakstock is the best since it's very close to stock rom.
For now, i would agree with the suggestions of Tweakstock. Until Eclipse is fully finished (with Eclipse Parts) it is the best.

Service drops are not typically associated with any particular rom really. It may be a network issue in your area, a sim card problem, etc. - but it's extremely doubtful that what rom you are running would influence this. I suppose I can only speak of tweakstock, but I've done nothing to it that in any way changes service/connection functions compared to plain-old stock.

Yes, the previous post is 100% correct. This service drops has something to do with your radio and hardware. I would Odin back to stock with PIT file, then try and see if you still have the issue. I had this issue in the beginning and I was a noob then, I called Verizon, they first send me a new SIM card, that's not working and finally they send me another phone, still same issue. then GB 2.3.6 leaks arrived and I flash this before the OTA....and yes it fixed my call drops issue. And that is the last thing I heard of calls drop for my Charge. Yours maybe different but in order to pinpoint the issue go all the way back to original stock and if the issue persist then call Verizon for another phone.

Phone is hot after rooting

Hello all,
So I'm a noob when it comes to rooting, but I got through it fairly simply on my first go. All I've really done since is disable the annoying wifi available notification in the pull down bar. I've noticed however, that the phone has been getting pretty hot since then. Not sure if this is the right place to post, but any help would be appreciated.
Don't understand why just rooting would do that myself. Are you charging it when it gets hot? I know my old bionic would get wicked hot if i was tethering off of it and charging it. But just charging it along only slightly. It was using massive amounts oof battery, like tethering, while charging that induced the heat.
On the other hand though I still tether 5 or 6 people at a time on my S3 a night while charging and my phone barely gets warm. Pushing almost a gig of data a night. Maybe your battery is getting fried? What apps are you using most when it gets hot?

[MOD, ICS] Incredible battery life for ICS ROMs

Hi Guys
Well, after witnessing incredible battery life on latest HebMIUI (mostly taken from Pimp My ROM and Adrenaline Injector), I decided to make a flashable for the rest of the ICS ROMs we have here.
I must say I also use the LB6 modem which is known to give good battery life, so you are advised to install it too, but, it's your call.
I also add here AutomateIt app, which lets you decide what the device will do for certain events (open/close wifi/3G/4G/screen/charge etc.) which you can utilize to save battery life.

I take no responsibility for any damage claimed.
Tested on MIUI, AOKP.
Make a nandroid backup and flash it via CWM/TWRP.
Let it soak in for 1-2 days and let me know what you think.
Does this include the build.prop changes of hebmiui?
Yes. ROM name was set to Batt_MOD instead.
Installed on Remics without any issues. Will report back on the battery life in a few days.

Installed on aokp, on boot I get a process is not responding. After that it is fine and so far great battery usage.
i'll try it later.
Currently (CM9 latest rel), Sitting on a desk with full 4G on a 2300 mAh battery, I get about 2-3 days of usage. Plus a few calls and texts.
At school in and out of e, 4g, and deadzone, I get down to ~65%. Then I need to reboot to stabilize or else it will continue to drain at the rate and I'll be dead by the end of the day.
LB6 did nothing for my battery life but I was getting incredibly slow data, so I reverted to KJ4.
I am thinking of padding KC1 and trying it.

hm, After I flashed this, whenever I tap on the "(i)" in the news and weather app that
comes with CM9 to see the temperatures for the day, it gives me a message that the
app stopped working and closes..
It might not have to do with this battery mod, but I am trying a process of elimination to pinpoint the culprit..
Would you confirm please if the News & Weather app works after you tap "(i)" in the top right corner?
Thanks..
Edit: I forgot to mention that I tried fixing permission, clearing cache & dalvik cache, but same results..
Hi
the only relevance to this app could be from the system\etc\init.d\S70darky_zipalign script.
Try with and without it and see if it helps.
