Did you receive a survey invite from Smithgeiger about your OneS? - HTC One S

I just finished doing a satisfaction survey about my One S. It asks how you like it, what made you buy it and things you don't like about it. I made it pretty clear I wasn't satisfied with this phone the way it is now. The bloatware, the signal problems, the gps jumping all over the place and the wifi/4g bug after the newest update.
After I was done with the survey I qulified for a moderated forum, I must attend the forum for 3 days straight, twice a day for a total of 30-60 minutes. I will receive a $50 voucher once completed, the forum will be announced at a future date.
DO THE SURVEY, LET THEM KNOW WE DON'T WANT THE BLOATWARE AND THAT THE UPDATE SCREWED THE PHONE UP.

I got that survey also. And I let them know about all the bloat as well

Same here, and let loose with both guns about the bloatware, and how I feel about their capping data, but also installing apps that can't be disabled that use data.
At the end I was told I qualified for a follow up study I would be paid $50 to complete. Anyone else get that? I haven't been sent the info on the study yet, though.

You have to get a personal invite via email. I found mine sitting in my spam box yesterday. I complained about everything except I forgot about them removing free tethering. I too took up the invite for the $50 followup.

I got this too. Before even visiting xda. I answered it all and mentioned the bloatware and sensitive screen and battery size. (Not that I have battery issues but still) I also went for the $50 offer still waiting on the confirmation email.

Me too. Waiting for the other thing to start. The ota had my phone performing worse on quadrant. And yesterday I got that bug where the phone had no signal while on gps.

Still nothing about the followup. Anyone get their info yet? I want my $50

I haven't. Sure was nice of them to get our hopes up. Of course, I haven't gotten my $50 rebate or the $100 for trading in my Shadow II yet either. I'm about ready to try the GS3 (maybe it will actually do some things properly) so add all my One S accessories to the list, and this has turned into a very expensive lesson (along the lines of: The HD2 must be the exception, cause HTC + Tmobile = Fail).

Nope. Me neither. I gave them a call and i was told if i don't receive by the end of the month(steadily approaching) to call back and they will get it situated. Other than that. No help. Seemed like they didn't even have access to any basic information.

I went with the gs3 after waiting these 2-3 months without s-off on the one S. No regrets. The gs3 is just a much better device with more dev support. I don't blame the device just as you said the Htc+Tmobile combo = fail

What contact information did you use to get in touch with them. I no longer have the original email. I don't even remember entering my street address anywhere for them to send me the money. I have bad memory so if we had to I don't remember.

Verizon Thunderbolt Returns.

So I finally had the power button sink down inside of my Thunderbolt, this is the second time it's happened in less then 20 days. Once again I sent HTC an email regarding the issue (as I did last time) but this time I recieved no help. So I called Verizon and spoke to a nice lady named Christine, who once I explained everything to her how the issue was known etc etc...
Verizon now has a reference number thats already ready in front of the reps thats strictly for this issue. I will recieve my "new phone" on Tuesday. Just wanted to post this so others who are having this isuue and even if you are out of your 14 days, even though you still have a 1 year manf. warranty, due to the high amounts of this issue, Verizon is not questioning this matter and will gladly set you up with a return.

If it's sitting lower than your volume button on the side of the phone, it's sunken in.
Mine is sunken in, but it doesn't bother me.. Doesn't effect the function at all and my case covers the button so it feels the same.

hope this doesnt happen to me. took 2 returns to finally get a phone which had a working headphone jack and power button out of the box.
i have had this since day4 but i dont feel like re-rooting a new one to have the button perfect

Yea I have noticed this as well. At first I was taking them seriously. Now its just too obvious.
The reference number for the insurance they have and its not "given out" to customers, it's used to easily process the claim and not ask 100 questions to you. Also make sure they don't "deactivate" your 4G Sim which they did mine, had to return to a Verizon store today to get another one. It has to have an active line, which this is what I was told. Either way I'm still expecting a new phone tomorrow, hopefully won't have this issues anymore.
And yes please make sure you un-root.

I received this link from my buddy who works internally for Verizon this morning, after i asked him about this two weeks ago as some rumors were floating around saying VZW would charge you full price if you rooted and needed a replacement
This is in no way a guaranty that you will not be charged, any time you root your device you void your warranty blah blah blah

If HTC finds evidence of root, there is nothing to stop them from reporting that to VZW, who will likely charge you full retail price for the reburbished phone they sent you as a replacement.

Doesn't matter, cause the refurb centers can't charge you as well as there is no path for them to turn around and tell VZW that a device was rooted, once the receiving warehouse verifies the meid and the 3 physical checks its sent off to the refurb center to be taken apart, I worked for Big red for 6 years, once it leaves the receiving warehouse it's gone, so even if they (refurb center) did it wouldnt matter

It still amazes me that people think businesses won't protect themselves from scammers. They may not make it a priority to catch every single one, but spot checks will happen. It would be a really horrible business practice to allow everyone to scam you out of your own product.
Link all the articles you want, but when they show their numbers for Quarter/Year, they'll take note on how much money was lost to "defective" merchandise. If that number is abnormally high...your ass will be grass when they start investigating the new returns.

I'm guessing it depends on where it goes. Regardless, i'll pay the insurance just in case.
Kind of like car insurance, haven't used it in 10+ years, but still carry it.

I dunno about that I got mine replaced, but then again the screen was water logged so perhaps there wasn't a way to check without powering on screen. I've known many people who have turned in rooted phones and never had a problem...

1.4 million customers and of that 260,000 thunderbolts.....of that 25,000 to 50,000 rooted, and that's a liberal number it's probably less, I'm no math major but I doubt there will be any major impact on "defective" merch and Verizon has an internal sop with equipment and issues, if the "defective" device replacements hits a certain %, the device moves to "end of life" and they stop carrying it, it's that simple, they're not going to investigate anything

Pretty much what the title says.
A few weeks ago, I (and whoever else) got the chance to take a survey with a $50 payout.
I completed the 3 days of questions and all that good stuff. I didn't get a followup email or anything though.
I was just wondering of anyone has received this $50 or a followup email.
I'm going to call the company who hosted the survey. Ill followup with what they say.

Mainly just asking how what when where why on your One S. How did you hear about it? Are you satisfied? What made pick up the One S? If you were to market it to your friends what would you tell them?
A bunch of nonsense like that. It was a 3 day(5 questions per day).
I talked to support and supposedly it takes 4-6 weeks to get the $50 incentive. "If you don't get it by the end of July call back to get it situated"

After a few PM's with several other members I thought I'd post how this works...
I simply forward your phone number and name to someone who works in Three's direct sales department based in Glasgow. They'll contact you at a specified time and discuss the phone, the plan and the offer with you. It is up to you whether you want to place your order right there and then or place the order at another time. The order must be placed over the phone however in order to qualify for the deal as this is the only way they can add the credit and minutes to the account.

Not personally no, but I've heard from others that it works pretty well
Just a heads up guys, from 26th April onwards, there will be a £49 upfront cost for the phone if you buy it online or phone into inbound sales.
Of course I can get this waived for you even after this date :good: Also, this is a new contract and not an upgrade to your existing contract for those that are interested.

You wouldn't get the extra minutes and TCB may take a while to track. The credit can be applied immediately to the account by ordering directly from Three via myself. An additional £30 credit can also be added to a friend or family Three account if you have their phone number too.
I'm always suspicious of posts like this - how do we know that the 'friend' who works for Three isn't the OP.

[Q] Photo artifacts: should i be concerned?

I just got an open box SCH-i535 on eBay.. I've noticed that once in a while when I take a photo in landscape mode, I get some artifacting. Hoping that somebody could give me some feedback on this situation.. EG if it is common, if I should return the phone hehe.
That's got to be hardware issue, I'd definitely return it.

Thanks for your speedy response. I had pretty much come to the same conclusion... Could not find any mention of a similar problem in my google searches and hours of reading through forums... It hasn't happened again since that day, but i do NOT want to take my chances. This is the first "new" phone I've gotten for myself in a while. Grandfathered unlim in Verizon, so I buy phones off-contract. Man I miss my Droid 4 Slider. May have to spring for another one..
