Combine cd slot car mount, with EVO 4G LTE Dock - AT&T, Rogers HTC One X, Telstra One XL

Okay so I purchased universal cd slot mount from Mountek. Then I purchase the suction cup mounted Sprint HTC EVO 4G LTE car mount. When docking it, as you all know, the Car App starts. Undock, exits car app. This placement is the ultimate set up for me. It's not finished I still have to get a more permanent solution for the ball and pinion mechanism. May not be until Monday

So basically, you cut of the ball section of the suction cup mounted, get a self taping screw, washers and screw the ball to the Mountek and call it good. Straight forward, took about 15 minutes once the plan was formulated. Any questions, let me know

So the slot will not just mount to the dock? It is hard to tell from the pick.

Yeah, I'll be doing some work to it later. The mounts don't line up. The Mountek has a small hole that the original universal cradle mounts to. The new dock has a larger ball and pinion set up. The pinion has a larger od, so the "sleeve" part of the system is to wide and too short to go through the place provided by the mount. Luckily I work at a plant with a machine shop, sheet metal shop and a pipe / fab shop right next to my office. I am going to see what ideas these guys have. I have it Jimmy rigged right now, (my name is Jimmy) it should hold but it has no real movement other than spinning. It is in fact AWESOME, for me even in it's current state. Updates coming this week.

Which windshield suction cup EVO 4G LTE mount is that? Where can I find it. Does it fit the HOX perfectly?

It's the one your can purchase at the Sprint store. It has an insert in it that is made to be pulled out if you want to use it with a case on your phone. I have the orange HTC case on my HOX, without the insert it fits great, little play but the padded arm fixes that. The usb jack is about an 1/8 of an inch too long. Simple fix, add a small amount of cushion on the right side to balance it out... I love it. Go give it a try, $35 with a 14 day return, you can't lose.

Really cool idea, I might try it out. Mind linking the car dock you bought? Just wanted to make sure I don't buy the wrong one.

Could you tell me the diameter/how big the suction cup is on the EVO LTE car dock? I really don't want to mount it to my windshield because it would be too awkward to reach for it, but i have a nice flat surface on my radio area (http://www.fatalfoo.com/pics/Cars/Prius/Kenwood in Prius1.JPG) between the CD slot and the source buttons and hope it will stick on there. Do you think that would work?

I doubt it,I had the same idea, the suction cup is about a 2 inch diameter.Just barely too large

Dont have the case to check, but it definitely works with cases. just not sure of the extremes... I would suggest checking your local sprint shop. I would give it 85% chance of working though.

I stopped by the Sprint store and picked up the car dock and HTC car stereo clip. The phone gets really hot when using the car dock and after the first day I can't get the phone to charge while docked. Sometimes the blue light on the dock is on and sometimes its flashing. The orange charge light on the phone will only flash and I even got a warning pop up that the charger is not compatible and may damage the device. Works fine when the same charger is plugged directly into the phone without the dock. I also tried connecting the car dock to the AC charger that came with the phone (plugged into an inverter) and got the same results.
The suction cup was too large for the flat surface on the radio and would not stick.
I just ordered the ProClip part #853437 Prius center mount and part #215165 Garmin Nuvi ball mount adapter. We'll see how that goes.

Update: Just to let you guys know the speck case does work with the Sprint dock.

Best WINDSHIELD car mount

I know there are a few threads on this, but they are cluttered with talk about non-windshield mounting docks/mounts and what apps launch.
My mission is to find the best windshield mounting car dock/cradle/whatever for the HTC Sensation. It has to be tight, so no "goosenecks." No universal junk either.
Options so far:
1) OEM HTC Car dock
The problem with this one seems to be that the "arm" of the mount isn't long enough and may not fit in portrait mode if your windshield is too "raked" (angled). It will hit the windshield in some cases.
I was reading another thread where one of the posters reviewed it:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=16385008&postcount=117
2) http://www.ebay.com/itm/Car-Windshi...ccessories&hash=item20c2736c35#ht_1268wt_1139
3) http://www.ebay.com/itm/New-Car-Win...ccessories&hash=item231333bc36#ht_2876wt_1139 - Looks like this arm would be too short as well
Suggestions??
Right now I have a OEM mount for my Motorola Milestone (Droid) which worked perfectly:

The arm was long enough to allow the phone to swivel to any postition without hitting the windshield and it also came up far away from the windshield close to my fingers. Just for reference, I drive a 1994 BMW 325i (E36).
Check out the Arkon Series Mounts. I had the S514 for my DZ, which is a little small for the Sensation but will be ordering Deluxe Mini Mount. At $15, they are great quality products and a good value. Highly recommend.
http://www.arkon.com/smartphone-car-mount.html
Interesting, looks like the deluxe has more movement than the regular mini. I say that because it looks like it has an extra joint. Why is it cheaper than the regular Arkon mini mount? Any idea if it has a magnet so that the phone knows it is "docked"? On my motorola with CM7 this would (at the very least, with Car Home uninstalled), keep the screen on without dimming.

I know the OP doesn't like the "crappy universal" mounts, but the universal one I use is the Arkon MG115. And I can say it's beyond crappy universal lol. It's well made. I assume that the OP meant the universal no-name brand with bad build quality.
The reason I opted for the universal one is because I use different cases depending on where I am using the phone. If I am on vacation, I will bring this to use with my Seidio Active case. Otherwise I use an Aprolink hybrid case, which is a bit thinner.
The mini mount I use can be mounted on the dash with the disk you see there and also can be mounted on the windshield of course. But users may vary. Some may not like it and some like other "styles". I posted some personal pics a while back if anyone wants to take a gander let me know, I'll dig em up.
And on a related note, I have been using various docks from craigsdocks.com and they recently released a specific swivel dock made for the Senny and can be adjusted for cases or extended batteries like the Mugen batteries.

Yes, I just meant something of quality. The Arkon MG115 is the Arkon Mobile Grip Mini on their site. I'll probably go either with this or MG114, the "deluxe." Are the little arms padded? Phone doesn't slowly slide down from vibrations? Do the little arms come over the front of the screen once mounted?
I forgot to mention it should allow the camera to see through the mount.
Keep em coming. If someone has pictures of the OEM car dock mounted on a windshield, please post them
I chose the M115 only because I know myself, I would continue to adjust the middle joint to the point of breaking lol. So I opted for the shorty that couldn't be adjusted in the mid arm. I can still swivel pretty well with the dock. And I use this mount with Waze navigation all thetime and take pics to report accidents, traffic conditions, etc.
I had one of these (link to dealextreme) for my X10i and it was a perfect fit. Currently my wife uses one on her HD7 and it's terrific. And you can't really beat the price.
The only dig I have with the oem dock is that it's too easy to pop out the phone. But I loved having the plug in the base.
edit: aaah, i checked out those ebay links. It looks the same except for the different suction holder. Well, the phone cradles on those, in my experience, have all been perfect.
So you have the OEM dock? Can you put the phone into portrait without hitting the windshield?
Do you have pictures of the dealextreme mount? Saw those on ebay as well...

Yup, I have the Sensation OEM car dock. I'm not sure on the windshield, I keep mine behind the gear lever (easier to swipe to change songs, car already has navi). I'll try on the windshield tomorrow and let you know.

Yes, take pictures of both please! I used to keep my Droid mounted up near the mirror with the phone coming within reach of my fingers just off the steering wheel. This way if I did need to look at the phone, the road and traffic is still in the line of sight.

OEM for the win
I went with OEM after trying a Universal T-Mobile car mount they have at the store for $30 bucks, but my Sensation went flying off the windshield after the first tight turn I took together with that universal mount, so it didn't work for me. OEM works well so far, but after trying it mounted on the windshield (which worked well) I ended up putting it on the dash so it doesn't block the windshield at all while being within reach.
May I ask why you're only set on mounting it on the windshield?
Homemade Mount
I actually made my own. I picked up a Garmin Nuvi mount off eBay. I dremeled the clips/tabs off to give a flat surface. Then I used industrial double sided tape to attach a cheap version of a Case Mate barely there cover. The setup works pretty good. I've never had the phone fall out or the mount come off.
I'll post some pics of it when I get the chance.

Its not shaky at all for me. Plus it comes with the vent add on so you dont have to use the neck with the windshield if you dont want. Also my phone is held in place by the sides so I can prop it up higher and use the camera if you like also. There are many options with this mount and can be used with many different devices and later on when you get another phone it will work that also. I used to use it for my desire and now I use it for my sensation. Ive also used it with a garmin and ipod touch. Not trying to tell sell it lol. Just saying you should check it out and give a proper run first before dismissing it.

Here it is in portrait. Here it is in the regular spot next to the deal extreme type of stand (for the HD7, similar size but it won't fit the sensation). Here it is horizontal.
In all the photos, the usb plug is on the bottom. The angle is a little steep, I think if I had rotated it and then adjusted it, it would have been ok. Adjusting it is pretty stiff so I don't like changing too much, lol.

The silver neck on the OEM dock is extendable to get it further away from the glass if needed. Also, T-Mobile had our docks on sale as of a week or so ago in their stores for 39.99... Worth checking it out, they have a great return policy if it doesn't work for you.

Nexus 4 w/ Samsung Infuse Dock Video+Written Review!

$13- Amazon Link
THE GOOD
This dock gives you all the basic features. Simple installation, and the charging feature works like a charm.
This dock keeps all of your cords and plugs in one place, so you shouldn’t be worried about knocking it over. This dock works great for at home, at work, and you can even use it as a stand on an airplane. And for the price, you could easily get a couple!
One of my favorite features is that this dock can be placed in both landscape and portrait mode, so you can easily get the best media viewing angle.
The dot on the bottom right hand corner of the dock is great because it automatically lights up that way you can easily ensure your Nexus 4 is charging.
Finally, this dock looks great! It gives you a nice premium finish and definitely feels like it’s worth more than $13 dollars.
THE BAD
The speakers on the back of the dock don’t work as well as external audio output.
The dock isn’t compatible with cases, not even the 1mm thin Diztronic Hardshell.
THE UGLY
There is no ugly because this dock was made by Samsung and just so happens to work with the Nexus 4.
FINAL VERDICT
For under $15 and with free prime shipping, this dock is an absolute beast. This dock keeps everything you need in a neat and orderly fashion. If you need a simple charger and stand for your Nexus 4, this is the dock for you. Be sure to check it out on Amazon for $13.
If you have any questions I would be happy to answer either here or in the comments section of the video.
It does look awesome, but the only limitation for me is the case issue, if I used a pouch or something to keep my phone protected then I would probably get this dock but I'm using a full body case so it'll get annoying having to constantly take the device out of the dock.
As for the USB audio, I believe that's a Nexus 4 device problem itself, not a problem with the dock which is a shame. I think the only device that has USB audio working out of the box is the S3.
After getting my Nexus 4 I was bit disappointed to have these two features (USB OTG and USB audio) not working.

Yes, mine only charges at USB speed too. But for me it's OK as I only use this at night when I'm sleeping. The phone is always 100% when I wake up, even when docked with a low battery level.

I have this dock as well and concur with the review. What isn't mentioned is that you cannot use the USB audio out (as expected with the N4).
Here's another tip--the Nexus 4 is slightly less wider than the bracket, and will have a slight "wiggle" from side to side. You can minimize this "wiggle room" by putting two small thin strips of black electrical tape on each side of the bracket. The electrical tape usually has a slippery back side, so it will not affect the sliding motion. And the slight shininess of the tape will make it almost impossible to detect visually, so it won't look ugly.
It was inevitable--here's a Chinese knock-off supposedly for the Nexus 4 on Fleabay for about the same price as the Samsung:

I say for the price, the Samsung is unbeatable! The finish is very nice on it. Plus you also get a throwaway Samsung 0.7amp wall charger with the Samsung that you could use for charging your BT headset.

Has anyone in the UK bought this? Any feedback?
I'm contemplating it for the office / the bedroom. I have the poetic borderline case and am wondering if it will fit with that still on? I'm assuming so as it says "cover compatible" and the images appear to show some form of bumper case on the phone.

someone succeded on making the speakers work or its a hardware prob ?
I REALLY WANT IT TO WORK WITH THE SPEAKER AND THEN ITS PERFECT!
i finally got my nexus 4 so i was able to test out the dock. it works perfect but the phone is a bit loose. so i added a couple strips of electrical tape on the inside of the dock (where the phone slides in) and now the phone fits real nice and tight. u cant really see it that well.

[Q] Car mount (specific needs)

I'm looking for a car dock for my Note 4.
Looking at all the existing threads (yes, there are several), the most recommended options seems to be
iOttie One Touch XL
iOttie One Touch 2
iBolt xProDock
But none of them seems to fit the bill for me. I've got a bumper case on my phone, and with the case it's about 3.35 inches wide. The Touch XL only supports phones up to 3.3 inches and the Touch 2 only goes to 3.2 inches. The xProDock seems to be able to handle the size of my phone, but it looks to be designed for holding the phone in landscape mode. I much prefer portrait mode for GPS navigation. I also want something that mounts to a RAM ball mount, which the xProDock does.
So, does anyone have any recommendations for a dock that attaches to a RAM ball, is made for portrait mode and can hold my 3.35 inches wide phone?
Spigen case + iOttie XL
I currently am using the Spigen case and the iOttie XL. According to Amazon, my case makes the phone 4". I'll go and try to measure how wide the mount actually gets later today, as that exta .15" may not matter in your case.
BTW, the suction mount from iOttie is a beast. I'm not sure how I'd get it off if I needed to. It's very stuck to my dash.
YMMV.
I have a Note 4 with Tech21 case. I use this in my car....

Not sure what size your RAM ball is. I have a RAM mount setup for my xoom but I have never actually checked to see if it would fit but I think the RAM ball for the tablet mount is bigger.
The craigsdock will meet all your needs now and for future phones. Google it.

Understandable. But you buy one dock and it lasts forever.
I bought mine back when I had my S3.
Then used that same dock with my S4, Note 3 and now my Note 4.
It's so adjustable that it even worked with the Note 3's MicroUSB port that is set off to the side rather than right in the middle.
And I'll be using it with any other 4" to 6" phone that happens to have a MicroUSB port on the bottom.
Money saved in the long run. :good:
i use an iblason armorbox which is slightly wider than your measurements and the itian wireless charger fits perfectly including charging with the samsung oem wireless back inside the armorbox case. try that.

Wireless charging would have been awesome if it worked for me... Unfortunately it doesn't My bumper case raises the back of the phone too far away from the charger. I've got a Samsung wireless charger on my desk, but it just doesn't work with the bumper on the phone.

How secure do you feel it is in portrait mode? I'm worried that the phone will eventually slide out since there's no support on the bottom in portrait mode. How natural does it feel to insert the phone in portrait mode? It just feels like it was mainly built for landscape use...

I would agree that the xProDock lends itself to be used primarily in landscape mode and it's easier to mount your phone into the dock in that position. However, the double spring-loaded upper latch is VERY strong and holds my Note 4 quite securely. Ironically enough, if I had one critical thing to say about the dock, it's that the mount holds the phone in too tightly. Until you get the hang of it, it's kinda hard to get the phone into the mount to begin with. There's a certain technique to getting it in and out, but once you get use to it, it's not so bad. If you get this dock, I can't imagine you'd have any problems with the phone slipping out in portrait mode.
Just be aware that Samsung removed the analogue audio out through the microUSB connector (for the Galaxy S5 and the Note 4) so the aux-out cable is not compatible with this kit. iBOLT recommends the IBXC-33617 xProDock Connect Kit if you desire that feature. Don't quote me, but I don't think that's an issue if you source your audio through the earphone jack or Bluetooth.

The bumper case might present a problem. I would highly recommend finding a magnetic mount that carries the note 4, and getting a case that has a back. That would seem to be your best option.
I sincerely apologize for the delay. My case on my phone is 3.3" (not the 4" I said earlier). The XL opens to 3.5". There's not a lot of extra leeway, but more than enough to snugly hold my phone and case.
Hope this helps.

Car Mount Reccomendations?

Anyone found a car mount that works well for the V10? I don't care for the suction ones. I prefer ones that attach to the consol instead. Thanks.
mine looks like this http://www.ebay.com/itm/Universal-Car-CD-Slot-Mount-Bracket-Holder-for-iPhone-Cell-Phone-GPS-Rotatable-/311212169712?hash=item4875b0d9f0:g:S0QAAOSwiCRUicp~ But i have a F150 and don't really have a standard clip for the vent like in my wife's car.
Mountek Snap2 is probably the best all- around unless you need the cd player.

I put mine inside the cover and it's fine. Most cases are really thick in the back and the magnet doesn't work very well. It actually works really well without a case. If you do get a case make sure it's a thin case otherwise the magnet won't stick.
Magnetic mount
I've been using a magnetic mount I purchased at best buy. It came with a large and small plate. I currently have the large plate under the battery covert right on the battery and the bulge is minimal if not non existent. Fits perfectly and sticks to my holder without issue. Magnetic is the way to go lately with all the different size phones, plug layouts are different between manufacturer and the ability to go landscape or portrait at will is a must now.
I bought a cheap TPU case for $1.29 that I keep in my car just for mounting. I place the magnet between the phone and the case.
I like the mountek snap mounts, but I don't have a cd-player slot. Well, I do, but it's behind a 7" display. Does anyone know of a good magnetic mount that doesn't mount with suction cup, cd player, or vent? I'm hesitant to use the ones that mount on the vent, as I'm worried it may break off part of the vent, not sure if this really would be a problem though, just seems like it could.
Xtremeguard has a couple car mounts and right now running a 90% off code "GIANT90" sitewide free shipping. I have the smaller suction cup one, it shakes with big phones. I might try the vent and longer neck versions.

I put magnet inside behind cover Work perfect
I just grabbed the braketron si magnetic mount from best buy. I like it because it has an adjustable stand below the magnet to help keep the phone steady. It's a suction mount, but it's the soft sticky kind of suction. I used a damp cloth on a sloped part of my dash and it hasn't moved since I mounted it. The larger plate fits inside the back cover perfectly and the mount holds the phone very securely. I even tested it on some really rough roads locally and the phone never moved.

I have a magnetic one. It keeps things clean. It goes into the air vent, and you can put magnet (included) on your case or something and the phone snaps in. It has been convenient with any phone. V10 or note 5. I'd highly recommend it.

There's a warning on the manual that says not to use the product with any phones that use flip cases that can cause the device to go to sleep like the G3, M8, and a few others.
I know you can probably turn off the case detection in the settings, but makes me kinda iffy on it.

If I place the phone on the mount off centered to the right it does lock the screen, but if I center it, I have no issues with the magnet turning the screen off. I just turned off the setting until lg comes out with the quick window case.

Koomus CD-Air CD Slot Smartphone Car Mount Holder Cradle
I've tried many brands and styles of Smartphone Car Mounts and have settled on a new favorite the Koomus CD-Air CD Slot Smartphone Car Mount Holder Cradle. If you don't mind using your CD Slot for mounting your smartphone it's a great choice and available on Amazon for $19.99.
It's the small things that really make this mount a pleasure to use compared to other similar mounts. The mount is very secure and extremely easy to use. You insert the end of the mount into your cd slot and you can use the included attachable clips to adjust the thickness of the end for a perfect fit. Its not a one size fits all affair like some of the other mounts I had tried.
The stretchable holder expands from 2.16" to 3.42 to accommodate most phones without a problem it holds my LG V10 and Nexus 6 without a problem. The holder has a rubber bumper on the jaws of the holder to protect the phone from scratching while inserted into the mount. The holder uses a ball joint that allows for 360 degree of movement so you can mount the phone securely in both horizontal or vertical orientation.
Since I use polarized sun glasses I have to mount the LG V10 vertically in order to see the screen with my sunglasses on and I haven't had to worry about the phone falling out of the mount even though the V10 is a very tall phone. The holder jaws have sufficient tension and with the addition of the rubber padding it's made for a slip free installation.
I've saved the best for last the one touch easy mount lever that fits flush with the body of the mount! On other mounts I had tried the mounting hardware hung underneath the mount which partially obstructed the view screen of the head unit mounted in my vehicle. The flush mounted lever on the Koomus doesn't interfere with the on-screen controls of the head unit or the view of the backup camera when operating the vehicle a huge plus.
I don't have any photos of my installation but I'm including a couple provided by the manufacturer. I'm very happy with the Koomus

Thanks for the recommendation, gheymann. I also have polarized lenses on one of my pair of shades but I haven't had to wear them since I got the V10. I was wondering though, is the screen on this phone made of polarized glass - can it not be viewed from certain angles if one is also wearing polarized lenses?

Incipio Car Dock ball size?

A quick search did not reveal anything, I was wondering if anyone had tried the Incipio car dock with a more traditional ball mount. My car is huge and has an air conditioner for a cabin about 1/2 it's size, I REALLY do not want to block a vent...
I was thinking about using the arm from my Moto X's dock, but it would be good to know if the ball is close to the same size.

I measure 0.614” or 15.6mm.
My solution was to design and print a new threaded mount then screw a RAM mount over it. It was a fairly expensive solution but it is clean and works with my current setup. I'll post pictures later.

I've done most of that drive before, at least it's a nice drive.
I can tell you the ball is smaller than the Garmin ball/original Motorola ball. I am looking at options now. I had the same issue with the Droid MAXX dock, and found a solution for it. I live in Houston, and have not gone back since the hurricane hit. I'm heading back this weekend. Assuming my house is ok, I'll see if the solution I used for the Droid MAXX works for this as well.
RAM Mount solution?
Also researching this for the Moto Z2 Force.
I came across a reddit thread suggesting that the 0.56" RAM "A" ball mount can be made to work. RAM Part # RAM-A-238U ($10) and RAM Part # RAM-A-336U ($13) both have the "A" size ball mount.
NOTE: I'm unable to post external links (new user), but the thread is on the Moto Z subreddit and is titled "Attach your incipio Moto Z car dock to more than the air vents."
The RAM ball A is slightly too small. I used this same ball for the Droid MAXX car dock which is the same size as the Incipio dock. I had to fill in the gap to make it secure. I'd prefer not to do the same thing this time, but I might have to. I'm highly annoyed that they did not do any kind of research to see what ball size to use. If you go to gpscity.com you will find many mounting options. If you want a specific mount for your car, you can search "vehicle specific mount" with your car model. Look for something that has an AMPS plate, and then find a RAM A mount with an amps plate. The plates will mate together with screws. Because the AMPS plate is common, you can find options to mount to many things besides a car.
Remember, if you get the RAM A ball, it will be too small. You will have to fill in the gap with something to make it work. I used bits of a plastic bag, and also experimented with partially filling the mounting hole with epoxy. Both worked OK, but I cursed the people that made that mount, as I now curse the people that made this mount.
As I said above, I did this with the Griffin car dock for the Droid MAXX, which was the same size ball mount. I don't want to do the same with the Incipio dock, as I plan to keep it as long as they make phones that fit it. I am still looking for better solutions, and will revisit this thread if I find something that is a more professional solution.
---------- Post added at 08:14 PM ---------- Previous post was at 08:06 PM ----------
As reference, the 15.6mm ball we are cursed with is the same as the TomTom ball, and there are very few options available for it. The 17mm ball that is used by Garmin, and many others was also used by Motorola when they made their own car docks. I had my Droid X and Droid RAZR car docks mounted wherever I wanted them to be. Thanks for firing those guys Google. . .
I cannot confirm that this will work, but I found this today. www DOT bracketron DOT com/products/tomtom-amps-plate Sorry, I can't post links yet.
This claims to be a TomTom compatible ball mount, which would indicate that it will work for us. Again, you will need to find an AMPs plate mount that works for you. There are many many options out there.
I have ordered two of the above, and also two 16mm metal ball mounts from another site that might work as well. I noticed some refer to the TomTom 15.6mm ball as a 16mm ball, so I took a chance. I will post results when I have them.
So what was the result? Did they fit?
Ask Incipio?
Sent from my XT1650-03 using Tapatalk
I did get my dock in today, and it fits perfectly on the Moto x 2013 stand. Firm fit too.
So whenever looking for alternatives a TomTom ball will do the trick . Thanks everyone for the research, now mine that travelled across the ocean can be put to use
I had my Incipio car dock break the other day - the part that holds the ball snapped off the mount and the bottom jaw of the vent clip broke. I was able to glue the ball holding part back on but the jaw would not set/fix.
I had an idea to convert to a windshield mount (like I had wanted in the first place anyway) and did the following
Took off the back piece that holds the ball so the only part was the car dock itself - file everything as flat as possible on the back.
I went to RAM mounts and purchased the following parts:
RAP-B-378U UNPD RAM FLEX ADHESIVE MNT SYST 1" BALL ($12.49)
RAP-B-104-224U-QU1 UNKP RAM SING SOCKET W/O 238 ($23.49)
The first part is an adhesive disk attachment for anything mostly flat that has a 1" ball mount. The second is a decently heavy duty suction cup mount with an articulating arm that looked to be long enough...they have enough choices at that point if you need longer I'd assume.
The round part that adheres is too large for the dock but with a little bit of trimming I was able to get it to fit nicely (trimmed at the bottom so it notched around the plugs and at the sides for the detach wings - did not have to touch the top)
I installed tonight and it's working great so far... I assume the adhesive is pretty heavy duty but I don't have a report on durability of that part yet - the suction cup seems like it will take the windshield with it if hit hard enough.....
Just one way to add a suction cup mount - unfortunately an extra $52 bucks shipped but worth it IMO...
Hi everyone! I thought I'd bring this topic back to life after a year and a half to share the solution I ended up with.
It's a knock-off Ram ball adapter sold under various brand names* and descriptions**. I have taken pictures of what one looks like on a green Ping-pong table, and how it can be attached to an Incipio car dock on one end and a Ram arm on the other, but I cannot post links***. The Incipio clamp can be tightened down on the flat part hard enough so that it doesn't move around too easily. The screw is inserted through the hole such that even if it does swivel, it doesn't come off. According to at least one review, the adapter is too flimsy to use on a motorcycle and the thin steel starts to vibrate, but in a car, it has been stable enough for me.
Ram makes a couple of products that are similar, but they look a little too thick to fit between Incipio's clamping jaws. I would be happy to be proven wrong on this, though.
I hope this helps someone! I'm certainly happy with the result, although it looks a bit more busy than I'd prefer. The upshot of having this longish contraption between the Ram arm and the Incipio car dock is that I was able to glue the Ram adhesive disk attachment referred to by acidlauncher to my car's steering column cover (so that when I adjust the wheel, my phone stays in the same position relative to it! I'm quite proud of that) and the whole thing is long enough to peek out from behind the wheel.
* brand names such as perfk, huiouer, fifimin, and small-chipinc
** descriptions such as "Stainless Steel 1 Inch Ball Arm Adapter for Motorcycle Rearview Mirror" and "360 Degree Ball Head Rotate Motorcycle Angled Base Z Type with 1 Inch Ball Head Adapter"

That would be https://photos.app.goo.gl/inNNnV7qMDZP41fV9, which looks amazing, but unfortunately looks like it requires the vent clip not to have already broken, and doesn't show what the RAM mount attaches to…
If you provide direct links to the parts, I could add them to this post.
Thanks for the feedback, and for sharing the link! I have updated the album with pictures of a car attached to the whole contraption. It's glued on with RAM Flex Adhesive Ball Base and it has worked out well thus far.
Yeah, it does rely on the vent clip, sad to hear yours is broken. How bad is it, perhaps you could still jerry-rig something together with the proper assortment of nuts, bolts and washers?
I ordered this, but it's not an exact fit: https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B0034IV2NO
Its 16mm TomTom ball is sufficiently larger than the Incipio's 15.6mm (?) ball that it would not go through the retaining ring without being forced, and getting that ring screwed straight into place was VERY difficult and time-consuming, due to the lack of clearance and tiny difference in diameter. For the ability to detach it and possibly move it to another car, I attached it to this: https://www.proclipusa.com/variation/100502-locking-move-clip-kit-for-non-tilt-swivel-holders
