anyone opened the at&t one X to expand the memory - AT&T, Rogers HTC One X, Telstra One XL

16 gigs gets small to fast. If anyone has tried to get inside the one X and add say 32 gigs?

Have you ever tried cloud storage? It's much better than an sd card (errors= lost data), on the cloud there's almost no risk in losing your data.

Cloud storage is crap when you want to use your phone on the go and have data limits.
And yes someone opened up their phone and it has the memory soldered onto the board so no you can't just pop in a replacement one. The pictures were in another thread I don't remember where.

Btw, I am paying $2.99 a month for 25gb on Google cloud in addition to my Dropbox account and if I want more space I can get 100gb for $10.

I can't get videos to stream from Dropbox without first marking the file as a Favorite (which then makes a local copy). So cloud storage is not a great solution. And that was using WiFi. I know Dropbox just a day ago updated their app for better streaming support but I haven't tested it yet. I hope it works better.

The storage is a 16GB Samsung NAND chip that is soldered to the board there is no way to upgrade it.

I haven't had any problems streaming videos from db, maybe something was up with the wifi router or the internet connection you were on. You should also try google storage.

Can just desolder the chip and replace it with an upgraded version, granted you need an Air-Vac rework station or something similar to pull/place the chip but I use one all day so.. , lol.

The trick is to hack the phone to make Dropbox think you have a different phone. Dropbox gives out more storage to Samsung GS3 than to the HTC One X. Look it up and you'll find the way to do it. But I agree it is a bit unethical. I'm happy with what I got from Dropbox for HTC devices.

Were you able to get the 25GB from Dropbox with an AT&T HOX? Last I read they'd opted out of the promotion, at least according to Dropbox's website.

AT&T HTC One X Phone Storage only 10GB??AT&T HTC One X Phone Storage only 10GB??
Hi,
I just bought HTC One X yesterday from AT&T for $199. After I went back to home, I found that the Phone Storage of my htc one x is only 9.93GB. That's TOOOOOO small for a smart phone without removable SD card availability.
Is there any problem with my phone? Or is it the way it is?
So sad now.... I even want to return my phone and change to Samsung Galaxy SIII....
Also, someone mentioned that in Amazon and Walmart, AT&T HOX only sell about $120. Is that HOX the same as the one that I bought in AT&T store for $199?
Thanks

Really doesn't matter. Its only free for a year then you have to pay. Kind of pointless if you ask me. I pretty much use Google services for everything i need...
Google music allows you to store an astronomical amount of music for free and available to listen to on the go...
Google plus will back up all of your photos for you on the fly and store them in the cloud indefinitely.
The hitch I see with the amount of memory is being limited on storing multiple roms and twrp backups...
Honestly the way I switch phones I figure it won't be long before I have something new in my hands with removable memory....
Or maybe won't but I'll survive either way.

Because at one point, the promo was real (I got it). It seems that one of the parties opted out right after the HOX went on sale.
You'd think att and Verizon would encourage cloud storage due to increasing data usage. I guess that could go either way though. Increased data usage mean more people sopping up bandwidth but also means more $$$ in their pocket...

On clean ROM 4.1 SE. Radio is 2.09. I don't really care how it happened, just glad I got it. Was one of the deciding factors in choosing this phone as I love cloud storage, as I love flashing roms , makes it nice to know I can format my sd card every flash to avoid data problems on different roms, without losing photos or other important files. Hell I've got drive too. So I've managed to get myself over thirty gigs of space for free.
Edit: and if and when apple opens its icloud up to android(doubtful) I have twenty gigs there.

There is a thread for this very issue. My question would be what about the Inspire do you think needs to upgraded? Faster processor, bigger screen, better camera?
For my next device, I want a faster processor, more ram, more storage, a front facing camera and a bigger screen without giving up anything that the Inspire provides. I haven't found it yet. I like the sexy heavy duty construction, this phone makes Samsungs feel like toys. The HOX has a higher end feel than the Sammies, but has no sd slot. Not interested in iOS or Windows. I have high hopes for the next round of Nexus devices but have to wait until there is more than just rumor to know if that's where I go next.
It's going to be about what you need, want and can afford. Without know more about that, I cannot make a recommendation.
Now I'm in a Pickle

I was loyal to Nokia before smartphones , even up to my windows 6. Then it became a few rounds of HTC. alas, I think I'm moving to Samsung in a month for the Note 2. It's super sexy in so many ways.
My 2 cents.

They are doing a quad core version of the one x that looks pretty nice. Still no expandable storage or removable battery though. The sgs3 looks pretty cool too. Users are happy with that one.

But I believe they're bumping it up to 64GB on the X+.

You do have an SDcard. You just won't be able to remove it, its soldered in.

You can't access the internal SD card in recovery, at least that's how it is for my burst

I got an htc one vx. I love it! So much like the inspire and also an upgrade. Bigger screen, more ram, bigger memory, f facing camera. For only 250$ new and sealed on ebay. Had it unlocked for $3 om ebay and now it works in my country as well.
