9.93 gigs? Is that right? - AT&T, Rogers HTC One X, Telstra One XL

Ok.so I just got the phone. I noticed I only have 9.93 gigs of free space. I know u never have a full 16 gigs. But is the os and bloatware really taking up 4+ gigs of space? I have not installed anything

For some reason they have internal stranger and then phone storage. I don't really know why

I believe the storage can be repartitioned with a custom ROM.

I saw people talking about free 25 gig drop box with this phone. Is that true with the att ones? Is there a special code or something?

Download Dropbox, sign in, refresh the account while you're inside the app a couple times, and it will show up

I'm sure we'll have USB OTG support soonish

9.93GB USB
2.21GB APPS
3.86GB System
Not all that bad if you ask me.

50GB Box Account
20,000 songs allowed in Google Music
5GB Amazon Cloud
5GB Google Drive
I figure we'll all be fine.

Were you able to get the 25GB from Dropbox with an AT&T HOX? Last I read they'd opted out of the promotion, at least according to Dropbox's website.
Edit: Sorry, just realized this is a very old thread (came up in a search result).

From what I have read, they had discontinued it, some people got it some did not. You could always try flashing Mongolia Rom, when you log into dropbox during set up it says something about 25gb.

And yes someone opened up their phone and it has the memory soldered onto the board so no you can't just pop in a replacement one. The pictures were in another thread I don't remember where.

Btw, I am paying $2.99 a month for 25gb on Google cloud in addition to my Dropbox account and if I want more space I can get 100gb for $10.
I can't get videos to stream from Dropbox without first marking the file as a Favorite (which then makes a local copy). So cloud storage is not a great solution. And that was using WiFi. I know Dropbox just a day ago updated their app for better streaming support but I haven't tested it yet. I hope it works better.
The storage is a 16GB Samsung NAND chip that is soldered to the board there is no way to upgrade it.

The trick is to hack the phone to make Dropbox think you have a different phone. Dropbox gives out more storage to Samsung GS3 than to the HTC One X. Look it up and you'll find the way to do it. But I agree it is a bit unethical. I'm happy with what I got from Dropbox for HTC devices.

AT&T HTC One X Phone Storage only 10GB??AT&T HTC One X Phone Storage only 10GB??
Hi,
I just bought HTC One X yesterday from AT&T for $199. After I went back to home, I found that the Phone Storage of my htc one x is only 9.93GB. That's TOOOOOO small for a smart phone without removable SD card availability.
Is there any problem with my phone? Or is it the way it is?
So sad now.... I even want to return my phone and change to Samsung Galaxy SIII....
Also, someone mentioned that in Amazon and Walmart, AT&T HOX only sell about $120. Is that HOX the same as the one that I bought in AT&T store for $199?
Thanks

Really doesn't matter. Its only free for a year then you have to pay. Kind of pointless if you ask me. I pretty much use Google services for everything i need...
Google music allows you to store an astronomical amount of music for free and available to listen to on the go...
Google plus will back up all of your photos for you on the fly and store them in the cloud indefinitely.
The hitch I see with the amount of memory is being limited on storing multiple roms and twrp backups...
Honestly the way I switch phones I figure it won't be long before I have something new in my hands with removable memory....
Or maybe won't but I'll survive either way.

Because at one point, the promo was real (I got it). It seems that one of the parties opted out right after the HOX went on sale.
You'd think att and Verizon would encourage cloud storage due to increasing data usage. I guess that could go either way though. Increased data usage mean more people sopping up bandwidth but also means more $$$ in their pocket...

This actually makes sense considering it's a T-Mobile ROM but I would think that the APN would prevent this check from validating? Excellent find if this is 100% true!

I work with this guy that posted it, he showed me, it is legit, I am going to install tonight....yes! Nice find for sure.
I'm not trying to be a party pooper here guys, but be careful with this. Certain carriers, including AT&T (US) have opted out of the Dropbox promotions. Now normally, this wouldn't be a problem, but the promotions are for free space "if" you are on certain carriers. The drop box folks have been known to get a little upset when free space is activated on non-qualified phones. I've seen it happen in the Skyrocket forums. Personally, I think it is great, but it's not the kind of thing I would be advertising openly (maybe PMs for more info would be better) and I'm not sure how the forum rules apply here either. Just giving a heads up maybe it's nothing to worry about, but I wouldn't take chances.
When using this tmobile rom on at&t how do you install the LTE apn settings for AT&T?
