AT&T HTC One X Phone Storage only 10GB??AT&T HTC One X Phone Storage only 10GB??
Hi,
I just bought HTC One X yesterday from AT&T for $199. After I went back to home, I found that the Phone Storage of my htc one x is only 9.93GB. That's TOOOOOO small for a smart phone without removable SD card availability.
Is there any problem with my phone? Or is it the way it is?
So sad now.... I even want to return my phone and change to Samsung Galaxy SIII....
Also, someone mentioned that in Amazon and Walmart, AT&T HOX only sell about $120. Is that HOX the same as the one that I bought in AT&T store for $199?
Thanks

Ummm
So you think you got a faulty one?
Jk.. but really, you havnt done that much research have you?

You get 25 gb of space free with dropbox. You have to download the app.

Wow, another one of these threads. Can't have too many of them, apparently.

This is the first one I've seen about the 9.93 gb.

No, you didn't get a faulty one. That is normal. The other 4GB are for system usage.

I know it will be 16G, but I never expect it to be 10G. And I make a mistake of not searching it on amazon before I went to ATT store. The $80 difference in price kind of make me feel bad.

Same here. My boss always tells me I spend more time on XDA than anyone he knows. I might not have enough money to own all of the devices, but this place is my home. I like to help whenever possible and enjoy the company in little threads like this.
I always thought there's no harm in a little thread derail in the general section. It's what keeps us close

Really doesn't matter. Its only free for a year then you have to pay. Kind of pointless if you ask me. I pretty much use Google services for everything i need...
Google music allows you to store an astronomical amount of music for free and available to listen to on the go...
Google plus will back up all of your photos for you on the fly and store them in the cloud indefinitely.
The hitch I see with the amount of memory is being limited on storing multiple roms and twrp backups...
Honestly the way I switch phones I figure it won't be long before I have something new in my hands with removable memory....
Or maybe won't but I'll survive either way.

Funny, because Dropbox's website says,
"U.S. AT&T and Verizon customers
Select carriers have opted-out of the promotion on phones otherwise eligible. Unfortunately, AT&T and Verizon are among these carriers not currently participating."
https://www.dropbox.com/help/249

Try google drive.

I swear there used to be a thread about getting the free storage on the AT&T HOX.

Because at one point, the promo was real (I got it). It seems that one of the parties opted out right after the HOX went on sale.

You'd think att and Verizon would encourage cloud storage due to increasing data usage. I guess that could go either way though. Increased data usage mean more people sopping up bandwidth but also means more $$$ in their pocket...

Btw, I am paying $2.99 a month for 25gb on Google cloud in addition to my Dropbox account and if I want more space I can get 100gb for $10.
I can't get videos to stream from Dropbox without first marking the file as a Favorite (which then makes a local copy). So cloud storage is not a great solution. And that was using WiFi. I know Dropbox just a day ago updated their app for better streaming support but I haven't tested it yet. I hope it works better.
The storage is a 16GB Samsung NAND chip that is soldered to the board there is no way to upgrade it.

The trick is to hack the phone to make Dropbox think you have a different phone. Dropbox gives out more storage to Samsung GS3 than to the HTC One X. Look it up and you'll find the way to do it. But I agree it is a bit unethical. I'm happy with what I got from Dropbox for HTC devices.

I've had my 75gb since day 1. 25 hox 50 gsIII. Of course 25 was legit, 50 wasn't. And they are both attached to my paid account. I know I read where they were taking them back. Doubt they would ban my account since they get a monthly from me. We'ii see I guess

Then you should ask them. And couple people isn't everyone.
The main reason is: most users if they don't buy the iPhone they'll go for sammy because of the brand. You don't know much about a smartphone but you at least know they make good tv's, computers, refrigerators, you name it. Where else do you see the HTC logo? Many people didn't hear about it. So, obviously pick the Samsung instead.

What is the big deal about which smartphone you use? I would bet that most people on XDA are pretty well clued up about phone tech and so, money permitting, they will make an informed purchase, buying the phone that suits them best.
I own the SGS3 and yeah, I think it is top notch handset, but that doesn't mean I diss other handsets. I like to think I'm more evolved than that (though some of my pals would dispute that :laugh. If someone comes to me for smartphone buying advice, I will try my best to give an informed opinion based on my experience and their tech knowledge and needs...and quite often I'd send them down the iPhone route, not because I think it is a better phone (though Apple, whether you like it or not, make fantastic hardware, just a shame about the company ethos), but because it is probably the best phone for them.
Most on this particular thread will probably own an HTC...again good top noth handsets, but I personally avoid them due to a very bad customer service experience a couple of years ago (threads can be found elsewhere), but that doesn't stop me recommending them to others (though I do also relate my experiences). And many others on XDA will own a whole variety of other smartphones.
The point is, does it matter which phone you own? Yes, some people will spend a fortune on a top end handset just for bragging rights, but there's nothing worse than a 'phone snob'. Most of us on XDA buy what is best for us and are generally happy and if we're not, we switch.
You pays your (hard earned) cash and makes your (well informed) choice. Enjoy what you have, worry not what other think about it and be proud that you are part of XDA and have the knowledge to tinker with and give advice about your techie toys. Just don't get caught up in a 'mine's better than yours' debate.
Happy tinkering folks!

Also, they may require the imei when returning. You'd need a full on brick. For them not to be able to tell in store.

Next time, install Lookout Security and it will be able to track your phone via GPS or whatever location services are available at hand. You can use the Signal Flare just for kicks and to scare the guy, too.
I am very surprised if other carriers don't offer this service free as I know both rogers and Telus do. Surely bigger American companies must as well.
