Anyone else that missed out on the free storage of this device initially receive it now? I just got the email yesterday. I'm wondering what happened to get this changed for us?

On clean ROM 4.1 SE. Radio is 2.09. I don't really care how it happened, just glad I got it. Was one of the deciding factors in choosing this phone as I love cloud storage, as I love flashing roms , makes it nice to know I can format my sd card every flash to avoid data problems on different roms, without losing photos or other important files. Hell I've got drive too. So I've managed to get myself over thirty gigs of space for free.
Edit: and if and when apple opens its icloud up to android(doubtful) I have twenty gigs there.

Also wondering if I can spoof drop box and get the promo again on my other drop box account.
Sent from my HTC One X using Tapatalk 2
I am on the same rom. Try flashing the default button mod, uninstall dropbox, then reinstall.
hahah, no I dont have the SG3. I was on a rom from my skyrocket. Apparently, it thought I was a SG3
I am pretty sure Dropbox is determined to avoid giving me the free space. I only have 6 GB through them otherwise. I have been considering paying, but I know the instant I do...

Yep, you NEED to also visit https://www.dropbox.com/gs after setting up an account on your phone and do the tasks, then you'll get your free storage :good:
But I have been using Dropbox for ages and already done all of that. Probably at least a year now

Sync a few files to DB, do the tasks, and I got it in 2 mins tops.
Haha I think DB just hates me. I decided to just pay for the 50 GB for now. If I get free space at some point, cool I can stop paying. If not then whatever

On their website it says ATT and Verizon are no longer participating in the 25gb upgrade. Kinda sucks, wish there was a work around to get the space.

Yeah, but only for two years. Then you probably have to start paying. I'm just pretending I still have 5.75G. I'm only using 1.5G of it, anyway.
well if you havent used dropbox before now, you have to download, install, register on your phone. Then you have to download the app on a computer, upload atleast one file to dropbox, login to the website to take a tour of dropbox, and once you do all those things, it will finally give u the 25 GB
Also, you can increase gb's by referring people.

Have you ever tried cloud storage? It's much better than an sd card (errors= lost data), on the cloud there's almost no risk in losing your data.

Cloud storage is crap when you want to use your phone on the go and have data limits.
And yes someone opened up their phone and it has the memory soldered onto the board so no you can't just pop in a replacement one. The pictures were in another thread I don't remember where.

Btw, I am paying $2.99 a month for 25gb on Google cloud in addition to my Dropbox account and if I want more space I can get 100gb for $10.
I can't get videos to stream from Dropbox without first marking the file as a Favorite (which then makes a local copy). So cloud storage is not a great solution. And that was using WiFi. I know Dropbox just a day ago updated their app for better streaming support but I haven't tested it yet. I hope it works better.
The storage is a 16GB Samsung NAND chip that is soldered to the board there is no way to upgrade it.

I haven't had any problems streaming videos from db, maybe something was up with the wifi router or the internet connection you were on. You should also try google storage.

Can just desolder the chip and replace it with an upgraded version, granted you need an Air-Vac rework station or something similar to pull/place the chip but I use one all day so.. , lol.

The trick is to hack the phone to make Dropbox think you have a different phone. Dropbox gives out more storage to Samsung GS3 than to the HTC One X. Look it up and you'll find the way to do it. But I agree it is a bit unethical. I'm happy with what I got from Dropbox for HTC devices.

Hi Dwayne,
Thank you for contacting Dropbox! I will be happy to assist you.
What carrier is your phone with? AT&T and Verizon have opted out of the Dropbox HTC promotion, and as such, phones with these carriers are ineligible for the promotion.
Please let me know if you have any additional questions.
Best, Raymond,.......
So has anyone else had this problem getting there free space?

They have a note here excluding AT&T and Verizon users: https://www.dropbox.com/help/249 it's bummer that some got it and some didn't though.
I got the same email.
Well, under the promo I'm sure participating carriers had to pay X amount per account signed and with the hacked apk of course the carriers are going to then back out. So now the hacked users lost their space and took yours with it. If that is indeed the case. I'm going on total speculation here

I've got the 2.0 I think. Works decent, hollow sound and you pretty much have to be within 10' of it to hear it. I found it works pretty good on a empty cardboard 12 pack.
