Thanks for the help

Although I've already "made my peace" with many of those here who had a gripe with me, I'd like to, once again, thank the people here who were actually helpful, were willing to accept my apology and, most importantly, the developers who are always hard at work trying to make the GS4G the best that it can be. The recent Gingerbread ROMs have really brought new life to this phone and addressed many of my initial complaints and disappointment.
That being said, (and much to the delight of several of you here who just can't seem to move past things, even after my apologies and attempts to reconcile) I still can't see myself keeping this phone. There's just not enough RAM, app storage space, etc. and, being a father of 8 month old twins, I need a decent camera ready at all times. I think we can all agree that the camera on this thing is about as weak as it gets these days.
So I ordered an HTC Sensation which should be here in a week. I guess I'll be bothering the guys over in those forums soon enough.

Seriously I'm not feeling htc/att's tactics at the moment. Way too many issues already with this device and it hasnt even been offically released yet. Honestly my next device will have an sd card slot, and a removable battery for crying out loud. What were they thinking? Nevermind, they werent. I'm definitely passing on this device. htc bring back the sdcard slot you dumb ****s. /rant off

Really? I guess some people don't care... like me. I have a 60 GB music collection, but rely on Pandora One and Play Music for my entertainment. My internal sdcards on my phones only hold nandroids and pictures (that auto-upload to Dropbox when on wifi).

Exactly and I want the freedom to use my sdcard not being pushed towards the cloud and not everyone wants their personal stuff all about floating above in the clouds you know.

16gb has been way more than enough on my Galaxy Nexus. Google music plus the numerous other cloud services.... Sd cards will be a thing of the past.

Real men don't cry over a phone not being there way. If you don't like it then choose a different device. Also send a letter to htc, not to a bunch of random people that can't do anything about the future of htc.

I agree also, I've had zero issues other than my phone appearing with no charge which I just needed aliitle more patience for.

I actually rarely go over 2 GB, but I get what you are saying. Unlimited (well 5 GB) is plenty for me.

Have you ever tried cloud storage? It's much better than an sd card (errors= lost data), on the cloud there's almost no risk in losing your data.

Agreed. You get an extra 25 gb from dropbox with this phone, plus if you use it to upload photos you can get up to 3gb more.

Cloud storage is crap when you want to use your phone on the go and have data limits.
And yes someone opened up their phone and it has the memory soldered onto the board so no you can't just pop in a replacement one. The pictures were in another thread I don't remember where.

Btw, I am paying $2.99 a month for 25gb on Google cloud in addition to my Dropbox account and if I want more space I can get 100gb for $10.

I can't get videos to stream from Dropbox without first marking the file as a Favorite (which then makes a local copy). So cloud storage is not a great solution. And that was using WiFi. I know Dropbox just a day ago updated their app for better streaming support but I haven't tested it yet. I hope it works better.

The storage is a 16GB Samsung NAND chip that is soldered to the board there is no way to upgrade it.

I haven't had any problems streaming videos from db, maybe something was up with the wifi router or the internet connection you were on. You should also try google storage.

Can just desolder the chip and replace it with an upgraded version, granted you need an Air-Vac rework station or something similar to pull/place the chip but I use one all day so.. , lol.

Just about anything is physically possible, the point was that 99.9% of the population would not have the tools to do it and you can't just follow a simple tutorial to do it

Lmk I will be the first in line... After you confirm success. I am going to say that this will also require a custom Rom to go along with it? That may actually be the hard part getting the phone to recognize the new memory.

The trick is to hack the phone to make Dropbox think you have a different phone. Dropbox gives out more storage to Samsung GS3 than to the HTC One X. Look it up and you'll find the way to do it. But I agree it is a bit unethical. I'm happy with what I got from Dropbox for HTC devices.

On some tests i see that Tmobile One S has inferior battery life than the international one.

That's due to the bloatware they put on it. Rooting fixes that though.

Why would you be "new to the One S" and now asking if you should get something else and wondering about issues. If you mean you don't have it yet then there are many threads and posts on the forum already. And as far as I can say, it is perfect if you are OK with no SD Card and 9.3gb available internal memory--I am. Some complain on Multitasking--I have no issues. Although, all that is individual needs and opinions--and is covered extensively in various threads--
Highly recommend starting to read the General and Q&A sections for a wealth of info--
Whatever your currrent status is with the phone--enjoy it if you got it--and you will enjoy it, if you buy it--

I love the phone only thing I've noticed is multitasking, and signal. With regards to multitasking what happens is let's say you're web browsing or playing a game whatever then you do something else like check xda app. When you go back a lot of times instead of those apps continuing where they left off from it has to start up back again. It actually does it for xda app also. With the signal cell tower signal I just get a lot of fluctuations between bars dropping and coming back.

Battery life, random signal loss, & low memory (9.93GB)

One more day until my one s arrives! Ill take it the phone is pretty awesome considering the limited responses? Might check out the gs3 after using the one s for a week to see how I like it.

Mine arrives tomorrow as well!

Only problem I had was wifi calling is horrible. I can't hear part of what people are saying. Its not my internet I have 16 mbps connection. Lot of people have same problem

I flashed Trickdroid and Axiom S and wifi calling still not usable. I have turrible reception in parts of my house.

I wonder if the crappy wifi calling quality has its root in an buggy radio, if another ROM is also suffering from it? Anyhow, that is really the only "defect" I can find with this model. Otherwise, it's good! I wish it would have a removable SD card, but I recall reading somewhere in the forums that it is possible to mount external drives and such on this phone, but you need a USB Y cable (since the phone can't power the external device), or at least that's what I remember. One might also need a ROM to use the phone as a USB host. The possibility to do this makes me a little less upset over having just 16 GB of memory (or on TMob US only 10GB because of all the junk it comes with).

Might go to the gs3 the more I think about it. Expandable storage is necessary considering I use the camera on my phone as primary and I have a 7 month old daughter. Is the storage on the one s accessible in any way?

Has anyone made this switch? Please tell me there are no GPS issues as that is a big reason I'm leaving Sammy. Well, that and being too big.
The one I'm getting has 2.20 but I guess that's just a temporary set back. Looking forward to AOSP eventually on the HOX!

I myself moved from the note just over 2 weeks ago. Honestly, i do miss the big screen and sd slot, but other than that, i like this phone too much. The screen is crazy sharp and bright. Also the phone is very compact for the screen size. Battery life is also pretty decent.

I moved from a international note I picked up on launch to my att one xl, could not be happier. Miss the better rom support but I'm over amoled, like iphones and facepage.

Crap. Didn't think about the Sim cards, are they the same size? I'm swapping with someone else.

Yep. Just called AT&T. However we can call in and have the sim cards reassigned so no big deal. Either that or buy a new one for $25. Obviously the first option is much better.

Just cut your sim card to the right size of a micro sim. I've done that before and it worked fine.
I've also come from a Note before this and am very happy with the switch to the HOX. It sucks your on 2.20 tho. It doesn't look like there's gonna be a root for it anytime soon and even if there is you may not be able to unlock the bootloader. I suggest trying to find a HOX with a lower fw. I actually have one that I'm trying to sell.

Sim cards are free... I went in and got a micro sim from att and then when I got home (phone was waiting on my doorstep), put the sim in, called 611, and activated it! Easy peasy.

I used to work for at&t. If you call Customer Care, they always say SIM cards are $25. If you go into a corporate-owned store, they are always free.

I was actually thinking of trading my HOX for a note just for development reasons. Not sure though. Its going to be hard for future devs to start on the HOX because there is no updated root method. Sucks.

Even tho that may be true, if I were you, I wouldn't switch. I think the roms are better here. There was always noticable lag with the snapdragon s3 when I had the Note. Also, the community wasn't pleasant at all. You think there's flaming in the hox community? Wait until you get a Note. Although, things could have changed. I haven't had the Note since May. Just wait and grab the Note 2.

I wonder what my HOX will be worth once the note 2 rolls out. I don't think it can get much worse than the recent price drop. I'll probably just give this to my mom on some stable sense rom she hates her iPhone for some reason good advice sir!

So far so good except I can't get swype or amazon app store functioning. Foot whatever reason I can't sign in to either...
