Otg cable? - AT&T, Rogers HTC One X, Telstra One XL

Has anyone managed to get an otg cable (host cable) and a flash drive to work with the one x?
What do i have to do?

I believe it is disabled out of the box. We need kernel source code to activate it.

ive seen a couple youtube videos claiming they've gotten it working, but dont provide instructions.
and it might be the tegra 3 version.

Probably. The kernel source for the tegra version is available, which would allow them to do it.

Yeah, unfortunately all the responses in this thread are correct. This is at the very top of my wish list so I'm watching the progress (or lack thereof) carefully.

Now that we all have an unlocked bootloader, host functionality should be added soon? or is their more work to be done?

All depends on HTC releasing source for att variant. In another post someone quoted an HTC rep as saying it would drop within the next few months at the latest.

We need the kernel source.
And next few months? Pssssshhhht! Aren't we supposed to get source code within 90 days of the release of the device?

Considering it only has 16gb and no sd slot, you would think ATT would have ay least given us USB host.

Att wants us to store everything on the cloud. That way there's a chance we exceed our data plan caps and incur the additional fees. Bastards

Does anyone have a link for a good but cheap OTG USB cable? I would like to have one in case I ever have a need for one but I've never bought one before and when I searched it on ebay there were several. Thanks

Just reporting that the Tegra 3 version uses the Gingerbread kernel which doesn't have USB OTG at all. We're waiting on Nvidia to update their drivers for the SOC to have kernel 3.x.
What kernel version does the AT&T One X run?

And we think that may bring USB host support (w/ OTG cable)???
I got my cable on eBay and another on Amazon for less than $3 shipped, btw.

Should I? Should I not? Should I?

Hi,
HTC have released some awesome phones like the One X and my god it is fantastic, but the question is, shall I sell my Galaxy Nexus for the HTC?
The good points from the nexus are that I would be that I would be supporting to the next Android with no worry.
But the HTC would be more than capable for running the next Android version as its hardware is far better. Also I like the 1.5GHz Quad Core processor with nvidia tegra. But the updates that I would get will be later than the Nexus and also HTC are a pain to root with the boot loader and EXT partitions
What should I do?
Thanks Guys

The question isn't whether it's capable, but when the manufacturer releases the update. Currently, none of them have yet released a Gingerbread -> ICS update, and it's already been 5 months.

for me its all about the hardware... since software can always be modified... the one x holds more potential hardware wise...
Do ittt!!!
I would wait for people to test it first...I am a bit worried with the battery stamina from One X

With the Nexus, you do not have to wait to constructor update, you will always get the last Android's version.
But HTC phones are more powerfull and XDA community will let you have the new Android OS
Cheers people. Ill get the HTC

What happened to the kernels?

Source came out, and a few kernels got posted, but none worked correctly for US models, and with AOKP.
Does anyone know of one that's 1) compatible with AOKP and 2)works on US models?
The DEV for this device is definitely weak.
There is just too many devices around, which is getting ridiculous
I miss the N1 days
Relax, its still early in the phones life cycle. If its the same 6 months from now, you would be right.

The US version wasn't released by HTC as of two days ago, it's still a kernel but there are differences between EU and US versions and noticing that specific features don't work proves that we need to wait for the US kernel versions source to be available.

I think they're waiting to release the 2.xx update then will release source on that.

I don't think it's meant for one x users to upgrade. It came too soon, and also it's not ground breaking. It's to attract new users to one x line while also competing and/or surpassing the competition (galaxy s3)

at whats point do we have "high development"?
everything has come to a stop lately, minus the handful of broken JB roms.
not too much to do more until jb sense rom is out. maybe some new devs might come if we get s-off or root for 2.20.

There isn't much more to add to Sense ROMs that we don't have.
For AOSP, we have CM10, AOKP and Miui... Among others.

Our development is so much more than what other phones have. We have multiple great AOSP ROMs. None of which are broken, in my opinion, but I can see where you are coming from when you say things have come to a stop. It has slowed but I'm a patient person so I guess it didn't bother me too much.
i dont mind waiting at all because devs do an awesome job. I just hope if they get the One X+, we won't be forgotten!! :L I want to hold on to my evita for a while longer yet!
Hey, I'm sorry to threadjack a bit but I don't want to start a new one because this one is pretty basic. If I were to get a new One X that wasn't on the 2.2 OTA, unlock it's bootloader, root, and put some CM10 on it before it developing some stuck pixels or some manufacturer defect like that, how would I go about getting it into a condition in which the device support center folks won't process the return normally? This is very easy on the Inspire 4G
relock bootloader and run the 1.85 ruu. pretty much all you can do.

Great news. I swore off HTC because they were pushing out hardware so fast but they lured me back in with this device. When my next upgrade comes around...so long from now... it'll definitely be a nexus device. So tired of this bootloader game and the headache they cause.
Ugh. I had the hox before when it first came out and the bootloader was locked. I liked the phone but the multitasking stuff and the lack of space and the non- replaceable battery made me go back to the galaxy line. Well ive been missing my x lately so I was looking to get another one and obviously wanting one that can be unlocked to run roms and stuff. But now I see this one coming out. I'm curious would it be better to wait for this one? I do like the fact the battery is bigger and the phone space is bigger since u can't use an sd card. But I'm sure the bootloader will be locked up tight. Wonder if I'm not better off just finding a used hox. U guys ever run into issues with only having 16g?

I honestly have not had issues with storage. I use drop box for pics and videos and Google play music for my collection. Most other things I have on my tablet such as games and other apps. So storage for me is OK but it may not be for you. I to will be getting a nexus for my next device so I will be keeping the one xl until then. It has been a perfect device for me. Awesome devs here and great people willing to help.

While I'm still mad at HTC over my original tegra 3 one x, I can't help but lust over the x+. I've run out of storage on my one xl due to my music...kinda sucks. I'll wait to see how development pans out for the one xl first before making the jump though. It would seem 2.20 has our devs stuck. Wouldn't want to buy the x+ and be stuck with the stock att ROM!

haha lucky I got my bootloader unlocked a while ago. custom stuff is no problem for me. and it's a shame you've only got 16gb for the AT&T model. I've got an unbranded One XL so therefore i have 32gb
The One X+ looks like a pretty significant upgrade to me.
Just a question to those saying that they're gonna get the next Nexus - do you really want an LG made Android device and one that may be named the LG Optimus Nexus G? Rumor also has it that it will come with carrier bloat and a way to install LG's custom interface.
The Nexus phone being the flagship Android phone is no more. Google, sadly, isn't going in that direction anymore.

Which JB ROM for best battery life + hdmi out?

Hi,
I'm trying to find out which rom has the best battery life?
Do note that I am looking for jb, so if there are rom variants that are good on ics but not jb, then it is a problem.
I'm also looking for this rom to have hdmi out - I occasionally download movies on my phone and want to watch them on my hdtv.
Thanks!

There's no one answer. Everyone seems to be having different experiences. Ten people could tell him they get the best battery life on one rom, and he might get crappy battery life.

Its unfortunately not that clearcut. There are some known for battery life (ie CleanROM), but the lines are very blurred. You must test them yourself.
Sent from my HTC One XL
When testing for battery life, I try to keep all my settings like auto-sync, brightness the same. Then I use the phone normally with 2-4 screen time, with light gaming, surfing and etc. So far the new Jelly Bean roms have been great and of course CleanROM for its stability.
CM10 does not yet support HDMI out. At least from my experiences with MHL adapter. I believe that only Sense will allow the use of MHL. Correct me if I am wrong.

MHL isn't specific to sense, my Galaxy Nexus uses MHL and it works fine with CM10. MHLsupport is a kernel thing so if it doesn't work in CM10 right now on the One XL, it probably will eventually.
