Which JB ROM for best battery life + hdmi out? - AT&T, Rogers HTC One X, Telstra One XL

Hi,
I'm trying to find out which rom has the best battery life?
Do note that I am looking for jb, so if there are rom variants that are good on ics but not jb, then it is a problem.
I'm also looking for this rom to have hdmi out - I occasionally download movies on my phone and want to watch them on my hdtv.
Thanks!

There's no one answer. Everyone seems to be having different experiences. Ten people could tell him they get the best battery life on one rom, and he might get crappy battery life.

but mine was correct hahaha

Oh is that so? That seems counterintuitive. I would have ordinarily thought that some roms are optimized for a specific purpose (or flexibility).

Its unfortunately not that clearcut. There are some known for battery life (ie CleanROM), but the lines are very blurred. You must test them yourself.
Sent from my HTC One XL

When testing for battery life, I try to keep all my settings like auto-sync, brightness the same. Then I use the phone normally with 2-4 screen time, with light gaming, surfing and etc. So far the new Jelly Bean roms have been great and of course CleanROM for its stability.

CM10 does not yet support HDMI out. At least from my experiences with MHL adapter. I believe that only Sense will allow the use of MHL. Correct me if I am wrong.

MHL isn't specific to sense, my Galaxy Nexus uses MHL and it works fine with CM10. MHLsupport is a kernel thing so if it doesn't work in CM10 right now on the One XL, it probably will eventually.

Best way to rid myself of sense?

I have a quick question-What is the best way to rid myself of sense completely? All of the roms I have seen are either sense or NFC Is not working. there may not be one yet but is there any rom with no sense at all and that still has nfc enabled?
Your up a creek without a paddle. You can't do what your looking to do without losing features. Until HTC or att gives us the kernel source, we have are all stuck.

Not never...just not right now. We don't have kernel source so the devs are either flying blind or grounded depending on what's broken. I believe rohan almost has NFC working on AOKP, so I believe it's just a matter of time.

Sorry I could not resist. Back to being a good boy now.
Until we get the kernel source for the 4.0.4 I think sense 4.1 based roms are going to give the best performance and battery life. I do prefer aosp based roms but what is the point if you end up sacrificing all the things that aosp roms are supposed to give you just to get away from sense.
Sent from my HTC One X using Tapatalk 2
Yea I ended up going with aokp 4.0.4 and well after a day I actually missed some things from sense so went back to my backup
I think the reason I was skeptical of sense was because of touchwiz on my old skyrocket
Sent from my HTC One X using xda app-developers app
What ROM did you decide on? I flashed pretty much all the available ROMs for our phone and found myself coming back to CleanROM 4.5. The CleanMODS definitely adds value and it's very good on battery too. Usually get about 16hours of moderate use and she's down to about 35% at the end of the day.
Also, Sense 4.0/4.1 is much better than any of the other OEM skins (TouchWIZ, Blurr, etc..) as it's the most intuitive of all the skins. Prefer it to AOSP Android now because it's just as snappy with so much functionality included. Ran AOSP ROMs on my old DZ because Sense 2.0, 2.1, 3.0, 3.5 were all crap and bloated; as soon as Sense 4.0 came out, it was like HTC finally got the message.
+1 for CleanRom.
Do your homework. The ScottsRoms CleanRom 4.5 DE had everything I wanted and nothing else to bog it down.
I'm also an APEX believer now for the fact that it restored my desktop after an upgrade.

Considered selling your HOX for a Nexus 4?

Well, have you? I have. I know I can get at least $325 for it if not the full $350.
I feel like it's a bit of a downgrade but I'd like other opinions. (vanilla is looking pretty nice with JB so distant still)

Vanilla android. Which is a big difference over stock. I have a Nexus 7 and I love the UI.
More battery and more RAM.

Cm10 is pretty close to vanilla. If that's your only reason for switching then so be it. I have one reason why I won't switch. And once that is remedied I'm going to nexus permanently.

Not that performance is not already enough on the ONE X but doesn't the Nexus 4 have a quad core S4 and a significantly more powerful GPU. This makes it about twice as fast as the HOX already and it has a bigger battery and vanilla android and will get the newest Android OS'.
My biggest concern is storage size at 8GB or 16GB isn't much and it just doesn't look as nice as the white HOX.
The fact that it's made by LG turns me off. The HOX is awesome in its own right and I think Sense is great in terms of usability. HTC has come a very long way with refining Sense into what it is now (remember Sense 2.0 and 2.1? *shudder*).
I've had the Tegra 3 version of the HOX, sure the 'benchmarks' said it was better, but in actual usage, the dual-core S3 spanked it. On top of that, LTE! Only time I will ever get a Nexus device is if it is from HTC though.
I'm buying one, but I'm not selling my HOX.

I can recommend it. Been runny nightly builds for about 2 months now, never had any major problems (the occasional reboot or something) but everything works great.
I considered switching, but like the verge review pointed out, the lack of LTE is a hard thing to drop. Stock 4.2 would be really nice, but I bet it'll be available soon (either AOKP or CM10) and I'll just keep my superfast LTE.
No.

Me too. LG phones feel and look cheap. They've gotten better recently, but still not up to par with HTC or even Samsung. I'd be interested in a new Nexus phone, but not from LG.
Weren't they talking at one point about 4 or more Nexus devices coming out by years end?

No worries. ICS is no JB that's for sure, and truth be told ALL the awesome options available to the Blaze should be tried out! That's the great thing about having such options - you can start choosing based on preferences as opposed to basic functionality. I'm a smali hack at best - I would consider the other tinkerers for the Blaze to be far more qualified of a "developer" title than I really - so folks should really make sure to test the various waters as you never know what you might be missing!

Well single core to dual core, NFC, slightly larger screen, 4g 42mbps, larger capacity battery, and adreno 220 are things that I would consider better. At my dad's house near Minneapolis I can pull 20+mpbs on 4g...
But at the end of the day, you still are running android and that's not going to change much... and if you liked sense than you will likely not like TW. No guarantee that you also wouldn't like aosp either (my wife doesn't - she prefers sense). My wife has a sensation 4g and I see a major difference between her phone and my blaze. I prefer the blaze, because of those features listed (and access to the sd card without having to dissemble the phone to get to it) and I prefer TW (using TW5 launcher) to any sense rom. Sense just seems bloated to me and the Blaze just seems to be more responsive.
But hey, they're just phones and everyone is entitled to their own opinions and can like whatever they choose to like

Just because CM is almost unusable recently it doesn't mean other ROMs are necessarily the same. Slimbean (4.3) is perfectly stable, in fact I've been using it for weeks and I haven't encountered any issues at all. I'd actually class the ROM as being almost perfect. The only reason it loses points in my mind is because it doesn't have a screenshot tile, other than that I can't fault it at all. I'm actually seriously surprised more people aren't using it, maybe they just aren't aware it's there.

i admit the fact even i was unaware of SLIMBEAN being 4.3.
in fact i was going to give Beanstalk a try cause its an OFFICIAL NIGHTLY and your signature also mentions it :good:
for the screenshot i believe there are aftermarket apps so that will be no issue for me!
secondly i had this thing in mind!?
does any AOSP rom have a battery saver option where the device goes to sleep!?
cause that really helps me!
I forgot my signature still said that, changed back to Slimbean now lol. As far as I know there's no battery saver tool built in to aosp, you can use an app like Tasker to cut data connections etc while the screen is off though.
