I don't think it's meant for one x users to upgrade. It came too soon, and also it's not ground breaking. It's to attract new users to one x line while also competing and/or surpassing the competition (galaxy s3)

at whats point do we have "high development"?
everything has come to a stop lately, minus the handful of broken JB roms.
not too much to do more until jb sense rom is out. maybe some new devs might come if we get s-off or root for 2.20.

There isn't much more to add to Sense ROMs that we don't have.
For AOSP, we have CM10, AOKP and Miui... Among others.

Our development is so much more than what other phones have. We have multiple great AOSP ROMs. None of which are broken, in my opinion, but I can see where you are coming from when you say things have come to a stop. It has slowed but I'm a patient person so I guess it didn't bother me too much.
i dont mind waiting at all because devs do an awesome job. I just hope if they get the One X+, we won't be forgotten!! :L I want to hold on to my evita for a while longer yet!
Hey, I'm sorry to threadjack a bit but I don't want to start a new one because this one is pretty basic. If I were to get a new One X that wasn't on the 2.2 OTA, unlock it's bootloader, root, and put some CM10 on it before it developing some stuck pixels or some manufacturer defect like that, how would I go about getting it into a condition in which the device support center folks won't process the return normally? This is very easy on the Inspire 4G
relock bootloader and run the 1.85 ruu. pretty much all you can do.

Great news. I swore off HTC because they were pushing out hardware so fast but they lured me back in with this device. When my next upgrade comes around...so long from now... it'll definitely be a nexus device. So tired of this bootloader game and the headache they cause.
Ugh. I had the hox before when it first came out and the bootloader was locked. I liked the phone but the multitasking stuff and the lack of space and the non- replaceable battery made me go back to the galaxy line. Well ive been missing my x lately so I was looking to get another one and obviously wanting one that can be unlocked to run roms and stuff. But now I see this one coming out. I'm curious would it be better to wait for this one? I do like the fact the battery is bigger and the phone space is bigger since u can't use an sd card. But I'm sure the bootloader will be locked up tight. Wonder if I'm not better off just finding a used hox. U guys ever run into issues with only having 16g?

I honestly have not had issues with storage. I use drop box for pics and videos and Google play music for my collection. Most other things I have on my tablet such as games and other apps. So storage for me is OK but it may not be for you. I to will be getting a nexus for my next device so I will be keeping the one xl until then. It has been a perfect device for me. Awesome devs here and great people willing to help.

While I'm still mad at HTC over my original tegra 3 one x, I can't help but lust over the x+. I've run out of storage on my one xl due to my music...kinda sucks. I'll wait to see how development pans out for the one xl first before making the jump though. It would seem 2.20 has our devs stuck. Wouldn't want to buy the x+ and be stuck with the stock att ROM!

haha lucky I got my bootloader unlocked a while ago. custom stuff is no problem for me. and it's a shame you've only got 16gb for the AT&T model. I've got an unbranded One XL so therefore i have 32gb
The One X+ looks like a pretty significant upgrade to me.
Just a question to those saying that they're gonna get the next Nexus - do you really want an LG made Android device and one that may be named the LG Optimus Nexus G? Rumor also has it that it will come with carrier bloat and a way to install LG's custom interface.
The Nexus phone being the flagship Android phone is no more. Google, sadly, isn't going in that direction anymore.

I'd only suggest it if you can get it for the 350 dollars it costs from the Google Play Store. In Canada, you can only get it from carriers which charge around 650 dollars for it without a contract.
The Galaxy Nexus screen is... decent. The blacks look great but the whites are somewhat blue-ish. While the One X has the best screen I've seen on a phone, I'd gladly sacrifice that for a Galaxy Nexus if I only had to pay 350 for it.
Whether it will work in Pakistan is a different story. I am not sure what the frequencies are there, and whether 3G/4G will even work.

This. The only phone I'd consider an even swap is a Galaxy S 3.
I had a Galaxy Nexus and sold it to buy a One X, and I don't regret it. The Galaxy Nexus has a far larger developer community, but aside from that I prefer the One X in every regard. The battery life on my LTE One X is FAR better than on my GSM Nexus, the screen is worlds better, and the One X far smoother (at least smoother pre-Jelly Bean). Additionally, the camera on my One X produces better shots as well.
If you like flashing ROMs for the sake of flashing ROMs, consider the Nexus. For pretty much every other reason the One X is superior.

The One X is a far better phone hardware-wise. The screen is where it really stands out. Since you said you would be trading for a GSM version of the Nexus, I assume that Pakistan uses GSM. Your best bet would be to buy an unlock code for your One X off ebay for $6, and unlock the One X.
As far as development goes, the GNEX has better developer support in terms of quantity. I think our dev quality is equal if not better, considering we have ROM choices and no kernel source has been released. When speaking of development, I ask you "What can't you do on the One X right now?"
Root - Check
Bootloader Unlock - Check
Tethering - Check
Custom Rom - Check (albeit some minor issues)
We don't need kernel tweaks for battery because the battery on the One X is fantastic.
I ran AOKP on my Skyrocket because it gave me slightly better battery life and Tethering support. I run CleanRom on my HOX, and I have all of the same features, and everything just works...no flashing nightlies or kernels to fix soft reboots.
I personally couldn't be happier with my HOX, and I'm glad I chose it over the S3 or GNEX.

Gonna have to agree with the majority here. Last year before the nexus came out, I told myself I'd get one. When it did, I wasn't really impressed with the hardware.
The one x has is better than the galaxy nexus in every way other than the true blacks of the screen and software updates. But the one x has a great amount of developers and the only thing left at this point is the source release from HTC. Once its released, custom roms and kernels will be abundant.
Hardware on one x is at least a year ahead of the gnex. Like another member said, only other phone I would trade straight up is a s3. And even then, the feel and build of the one x is still better.

Except that I still love ROMs but I'm also much happier with the hardware on the One X. Side by side, the difference in screen quality is unbelievable.
Sucks losing a larger dev community, but I don't regret selling my Nexus.
Using: HTC One X // Paranoid Android // Tapatalk
I switched out due to wanting to learn how to dev really badly with a Nexus device being the best to learn on, and due to the cost difference for me saved ($70) but I miss my One X dearly.
The build quality is unmatched... the screen is stellar. And its blazing fast, not to mention its sexy as hell.
I don't think I made a mistake, because I really do like my Nexus (the screen is pretty damn awesome and I just like the feel), but I am definitely getting another One X in a month or two when the price drops.

One X for its build quality and great screen.
I know the Gnex is a developer's dream but the way I look at it.
With HTC One X - can you have a fully functional asop rom = yes.
With the Gnex - can you have a fully functional sense rom = no.
I always prefer asop but with an HTC phone, you always have the option to go back to working "sense". If that makes any sense lol.

Yea, but if you read at the bottom, tmo one s won't get it with the rest, it's bad enough having to wait on manufacturers to work the new version into their skin that they just haaave to have, but we also have to wait on the carrier to approve and add their extra layer of crap. You do have a choice.... its called get a Nexus!!! HTC/Samsung/Motorola/etc, always have, and always will add a skin to their phones. It's one of the reasons I bought my One S... For Sense!!!!! I never understood why people complain and ask companies to remove the one feature they add that is PURPOSELY added to help differentiate their phones from all the rest.
I prefer vanilla over sense. I bought the One S because of the excellent hardware, not because of sense. Still I would say that sense is better than vanilla for beginners. Some reasons:
1. Labels under every button so its behavior is clear. In some Google apps, for example Gmail, there are lots of buttons without labels and its not always clear what they do. Yes, I know I can long press to get description, but not everyone does.
2. More functionality included without third party apps. Why hasn't Google included something as basic as stopwatch in their clock app?
Theres probably more, but this is what I could think of now

Wow...been using Android for many years and just learned about this long press trick. I don't care about #2...I'd rather find an app that works the way I want it to rather than have some bloatware running in the background all the time.
I just came from sprint using the HTC evo 4G lte. I couldn't stand there slow network and all the drop calls, but I did have it s off and rooted. I basically used root for tethering and some of the different themes. I really didn't want to use the cm10 cuz you lose the featured of the camera and sense image. I just bought the HTC one X through Atnt online and notice I have firmware 1.85, so I don't know if it's worth the whole hassle of unlocking the phone especially if you can't get s off. Also I noticed Atnt is more against rooting then sprint so it might be a problem especially since I don't have insurance on the phone. Thanks for your advice.
Sent from my HTC One X using xda app-developers app
Yeah it's worth it to root your phone. And you better do it soon before your phone auto updates. You don't have to use a ROM like cm10, you could use a normal sense based ROM like CleanROM that will provide you with all the benefits of the stock interface plus performance enhancements.
And honestly, s off doesn't provide you with any more functionality then what you get after root. (yes I realize it can remove the relocked message, but who cares)

Not that performance is not already enough on the ONE X but doesn't the Nexus 4 have a quad core S4 and a significantly more powerful GPU. This makes it about twice as fast as the HOX already and it has a bigger battery and vanilla android and will get the newest Android OS'.
My biggest concern is storage size at 8GB or 16GB isn't much and it just doesn't look as nice as the white HOX.
The fact that it's made by LG turns me off. The HOX is awesome in its own right and I think Sense is great in terms of usability. HTC has come a very long way with refining Sense into what it is now (remember Sense 2.0 and 2.1? *shudder*).
I've had the Tegra 3 version of the HOX, sure the 'benchmarks' said it was better, but in actual usage, the dual-core S3 spanked it. On top of that, LTE! Only time I will ever get a Nexus device is if it is from HTC though.
I'm buying one, but I'm not selling my HOX.

I considered switching, but like the verge review pointed out, the lack of LTE is a hard thing to drop. Stock 4.2 would be really nice, but I bet it'll be available soon (either AOKP or CM10) and I'll just keep my superfast LTE.
No.
Please stop these alternate phone threads.

Me too. LG phones feel and look cheap. They've gotten better recently, but still not up to par with HTC or even Samsung. I'd be interested in a new Nexus phone, but not from LG.
Weren't they talking at one point about 4 or more Nexus devices coming out by years end?
now that i have had a chance to red some reviews i think im going to pass on this
but im going to stick with my HOX and see what comes out in the new year

Well, have you? I have. I know I can get at least $325 for it if not the full $350.
I feel like it's a bit of a downgrade but I'd like other opinions. (vanilla is looking pretty nice with JB so distant still)

Thought about it, but I couldn't live without LTE. HSPA+ in San Diego is a laughable joke. A lot of times I can't even stream music when I am driving.

which reviews dissuaded you? they all seem to only harp on the lack of LTE but to be honest, I don't get LTE where I live anyway.
Y'all think AT&T has plans to update straight to 4.2 instead of 4.1.1 seeing as how the hox+ update is already in progress.

doubt it. they'll probably update it to 4.1.1, and then that'll be the last update we see from them.
My honest opinion
Would be nice but fat chance

Would be great even if they give us 4. 1. 1

I read this on a google news search might be BS but I'd love it. And most phones usually get at the most one or two updates small or big doesn't matter too the companies, seeing as how they would want there customers to upgrade their phones in the name of making more money.

i'm growing increasingly impatient with htc. Once you go Nexus nothing really compares after imo
I think that is the main reason why jellybean is so late. They are going to give us that one update and that's it.

Its a tough call for me. Nexus devices are supported pretty darn well. I mean, nexus s got jellybean and it can barely run it. (read run it smoothly for longer than two weeks)
But on the other hand, I tried a phone with no sense available, and I realized how much I liked sense (even though I'm only on it like half the time)
But my point is, sense is the slickest, most coherent ui overlay, and that has got to take time to do properly. Yeah, yeah, they drag their heels so we upgrade...but in all fairness, I do think they put a lot of work into it.
I think in the end I've decided that a stable version of sense is worth two of aosp. That's just my personal opinion.
After a decent aosp jellybean was released for desire z, I found myself still running gb sense 2.1. It was just a great OS that was hard to fault.

Yeah, they'll give us 4.2.1 with sense 5 because AT&T is the best!
I imagine we won't get an update until the hox+ gets there's

The N1 runs sense ports. Assuming that's what he's talking about.

Or maybe when you first turn the phone on you can have like an aroma option to run pure Google or sense
ATT is run by an arrogant ahole who only cares about the stock price(Randall Stevenson I'm calling you out). Why actually spend money on getting us JB when he can continue to line his pockets. "Eat the rich, its the only thing that they are good for"-Aerosmith
Couldn't be truer. Do nothing paper pushing thieves. He cost att billions in the failed tmo merger and got a 20+ million bonus and then they re-elected him. Ponderous to say the least. If anyone of us cost their company billions, we would be fired and probably brought up on charges.

Att has no reason to give us anything. We already got one update I doubt that a second one is coming. They have a hox+ and sg3 to sell, why would they care about the hoxl.

Why are all you AT&T users so pessimistic. Be happy and enjoy life, love your phone and its amazingness and stop sounding so much like Marvin from The Hitch Hikers Guide to the Galaxy.
