Hi,
HTC have released some awesome phones like the One X and my god it is fantastic, but the question is, shall I sell my Galaxy Nexus for the HTC?
The good points from the nexus are that I would be that I would be supporting to the next Android with no worry.
But the HTC would be more than capable for running the next Android version as its hardware is far better. Also I like the 1.5GHz Quad Core processor with nvidia tegra. But the updates that I would get will be later than the Nexus and also HTC are a pain to root with the boot loader and EXT partitions
What should I do?
Thanks Guys

You should get the HTC. The specs whoop the Nexus's ass!

The question isn't whether it's capable, but when the manufacturer releases the update. Currently, none of them have yet released a Gingerbread -> ICS update, and it's already been 5 months.

Yeah True, except I would do a custom rom of an aosp build. I'm gonna get the HTC then. Wow then ill have a QuadCore phone + a QuadCore tablet ill be quad cored

for me its all about the hardware... since software can always be modified... the one x holds more potential hardware wise...
Do ittt!!!
I would wait for people to test it first...I am a bit worried with the battery stamina from One X

With the Nexus, you do not have to wait to constructor update, you will always get the last Android's version.
But HTC phones are more powerfull and XDA community will let you have the new Android OS
Cheers people. Ill get the HTC

Guys I am planning to buy a new phone. I want your suggestions about choosing the right one. I am relying on good battery life and phone which has a good amount of development going on (custom roms, kernels, miui, cyanogenmod, ics etc.) coz I love to fiddle with devices a lot. My current choices are :
Samsung galaxy R
Samsung galaxy S plus
HTC Desire S
HTC Incredible S
These are my options but senior members can suggest me phone in range of 23000 INR ($475).
Thanks in advance guys

Isn't Galaxy Nexus coming to India soon? It definitely has those things (though battery life preferred with custom kernel) and is probably of choice (until the new quadcores come out in a few months anyway) for tinkering. But I'm not sure you can get it for $475, unless they offer it more cheaply there. I got mine for $550ish, and that's considered cheap here.

Umm.. If you look for design and Sense UI, go for HTC. But if you want a performance device then I would suggest Samsung R or S Plus.
Thought for 23k you can even get Optimus 2x or Optimus 3D.
But if your just gonna stick with Samsung and HTC. I would suggest Samsung for the performance. No wonder HTC's Sense UI is far better than any other device out there but its just your decision whether wanna go with Design and Looks or Performance and Built Quality!
have a look at the new Htc series One,
HTC One X, HTC One S and HTC One V

2 years ago, I prefer 3.7" phones to 4.3" phones. But now, 3.7" and 4.3" seem too small for me. Just try it first and you'll like it and even want a bigger one. Anyway, the 4.8" screen was rumoured to have a 16:9 aspect ratio.

I see. For that price, you might consider the HTC Sensation. I think the HTC Rezound occasionally gets that low (say with special promotions), but I can't find any at this moment.
I'm not familiar with any of the "cheaper" manufacturers (Huawei or the like) but it might be something to look into.
If your not in a hurry to get a phone. I would suggest you too wait for like till April or May. There are like 20+ phones getting launched by then.
HTC's One series are gonna be available globally by April. Even LG, Samsung, Sony has launched some new phones and they all comes with ICS 4.
So you may wait for sometime and I bet its worth waiting for.

That's actually a good point. Old phones usually take a price dip when their successor comes out. The HTC Rezound is sure to take one when the One X comes out, for instance, similarly for the Samsung Galaxy S2 when the S3 comes out.
So if you can wait, I'm going to speculate that those phones might dip down into your (OP's) price range. (But you should allow for a margin of error ).
If I were you, I would check the forum on what phone has the most development ... That way, you can have a lot of Rom choices hehehe

I'd like to know why too.
I've got my HTC desire for ~two years and never had any problems. + there are a lot of roms for the device.
Among your choices I'd go for the HTC Desire S.

The frustrations this phone and the Fascinate have caused, I look forward to using a phone from another manufacturer.
Supposedly HTC is coming out with a Note competitor this summer.
I'm actually quite happy how my phone has performed. I haven't had any issues besides a couple of force quits from some apps. They just had bugs in them though. I've had my phone for 7 months and I've been quite happy. Got it right around the Gingy update. I guess I would upgrade if a decent phone came out that had all of the bells and whistles.
The ReZound has almost everything but it's missing a few odds and ends. Still an awesome phone. I find myself playing with my wife's ReZound from time to time. The iPhone 5 almost sounds promising, but I want to see what is going to compete with it once it comes out. I guarantee something awesome is going to blow the iPhone out of the water. Waiting...

Word is that Samsung's quad core exynos is incompatible with US LTE frequencies because they don't make it in that specification or something, which is why the US version will have the s4 like the one x on at&t.

Gay. Why is it the states get the ****ty end of the stick when it comes to android phones? Phones have to be modified to come to the states and then the same phone that released in europe, korea, and china differs from what we get here.

Maybe because they aren't US based companies? Motorola is, and I am pretty sure the US moto phones are released before their international equivalents. Also, US carriers run on different frequencies from everyone else.
I am pretty excited for it. I am waiting to use it hands on before I make the dive. My plan just went up a few days ago so I am waiting to test this before upgrading if it comes to Verizon.

Wrong. It will have lte but not quad core.
You knew this question was going to come. Now that 4.1 has been announced, when are we getting ours?
This will take a longer time for sure, as HTC is still busy to release ICS
Jellybean dev kits are supposed to be released mid july. At least that's what this source says: http://www.foxnews.com/scitech/2012/06/27/google-announces-android-41-jelly-bean/
But it may be a while before we get a working ROM.
Given the time it took the CM team to release CM9 RC1, I'd say 6 months!

HTC says they "don't yet have an announcement" for Jelly Bean on existing devices.
... I can't post a link because <10 posts, but there is an article on pocket-lint.com
That will only lead to an anemic SDK ROM. sure it will show us the cool new features, but I wouldn't expect much. I wonder how long it takes to hit AOSP

Actually most of the changes are internal. I think project butter is a big internal change. Although the One S is already very smooth, squeezing more performance out of the S4 is a welcomed thing

Google doesn't care
I remember reading recently that Google knows about fragmentation but isn't worried about it. Now that I'm tempted to buy a media device to have the latest and greatest software, I can see how fragmentation can actually work for Google because now more and more people will look to buy nexus devices.
the main reason i got a HTC phone is because unlike Samsung's strange choice in hardware it dosnt take 5 months to port a fast stable release from the MOD team unlike HTC
lets hope this takes off !

Hi boys, and girls
As my 2 year contract on my carrier, is getting to the finish line, i want to get something new. (I will keep my small litle muscle phone O1 as a second phone )
At the first i wanted the galaxy nexus, because of the great software support, and the developement, in our xda forum.
Then suddenly i saw the new Optimus 4x, but, there is one but. There is no developement in here, because of locked bootloader
I really don`t know what to take. Thought about the Xperia S, but nope.
The phones what i need to choose from , are - 1. Galaxy nexus
2. Optimus 4x
Maybe Acro S ?
Maybe some other suggestions?
Maybe the new LG Nexus? It'll be $399 on Google Store unsubsidized according to rumors.

Yeah. I think I'd go for the new nexus phone. Just wait for a lil while
I think getting a new LG phone is a waste, Anything other than a galaxy nexus is.
The new android OS? Availably from day 1.
Every app is tested on that first, which means closer to no bugs.
I think that i will take Galaxy Nexus. Just because of software support, developement. The performance is also o.k No need for 4 cores.

I know very little of sansumgs
all i know is that because we all here
seem to be born different,
most of us, 'd rather rely on a fellow dev,
than on a manufacturer who sold you the phone...
so, when there is an update and your device meets
the requirements to run it,
you'll surely find it here,
sooner or later..
As for HTC...it is a smartphone manufacturer,
not a software company,..
their main occupation is: selling phones,
not supporting operating systems running on them...

I'm highly doubtful that the Galaxy Mini will be receiving KitKat. If KitKat does have support for devices with low specs then OEMs will probably just release cheaper phones that run it out of the box, rather than spending money on developing updates for outdated phones.
As for whether you should upgrade or not, I think so. I had a DS for two years and bought a discounted Nexus 4 two weeks ago. Definitely worth buying one, and you can be sure that it will be receiving the update to KitKat.

Samsung hasn't announced the Galaxy Mini getting Kit Kat being official.
Knowing Samsung, your friend won't get 4.4 on Galaxy Mini. It's too old device, even if 4.4 is made to be working with low RAM devices, Galaxy Mini won't get the update.
Why? Because Samsung wants you to upgrade your device (all OEMs do).
