Hi boys, and girls
As my 2 year contract on my carrier, is getting to the finish line, i want to get something new. (I will keep my small litle muscle phone O1 as a second phone )
At the first i wanted the galaxy nexus, because of the great software support, and the developement, in our xda forum.
Then suddenly i saw the new Optimus 4x, but, there is one but. There is no developement in here, because of locked bootloader
I really don`t know what to take. Thought about the Xperia S, but nope.
The phones what i need to choose from , are - 1. Galaxy nexus
2. Optimus 4x
Maybe Acro S ?
Maybe some other suggestions?
Maybe the new LG Nexus? It'll be $399 on Google Store unsubsidized according to rumors.

Yeah, but it will not be available in my country for a while.
seeing how often google release OS.
I will stick to nexus device for fastest OS update
I love my Google experience device motorola xoom running AOSP jelly bean
Yeah. I think I'd go for the new nexus phone. Just wait for a lil while
I think getting a new LG phone is a waste, Anything other than a galaxy nexus is.
The new android OS? Availably from day 1.
Every app is tested on that first, which means closer to no bugs.
I think that i will take Galaxy Nexus. Just because of software support, developement. The performance is also o.k No need for 4 cores.

Yes, i know, but it is the only device, with the best price/performance on my carrier. I will take it on a contract.
As i said, maybe something from xperia line - The acro s?
Galaxy s3??? Htc one x???
Coz i like quad core!

Ahh. Bought Galaxy nexus today. No need for a quad core phone, becouse there is not where to put in all potential. Its enough with a dualcore.

Smart choice, and yes Android doesn't make use of multi core efficiently as yet.

Hi,
HTC have released some awesome phones like the One X and my god it is fantastic, but the question is, shall I sell my Galaxy Nexus for the HTC?
The good points from the nexus are that I would be that I would be supporting to the next Android with no worry.
But the HTC would be more than capable for running the next Android version as its hardware is far better. Also I like the 1.5GHz Quad Core processor with nvidia tegra. But the updates that I would get will be later than the Nexus and also HTC are a pain to root with the boot loader and EXT partitions
What should I do?
Thanks Guys

You should get the HTC. The specs whoop the Nexus's ass!

The question isn't whether it's capable, but when the manufacturer releases the update. Currently, none of them have yet released a Gingerbread -> ICS update, and it's already been 5 months.

for me its all about the hardware... since software can always be modified... the one x holds more potential hardware wise...
Do ittt!!!
I would wait for people to test it first...I am a bit worried with the battery stamina from One X
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA
With the Nexus, you do not have to wait to constructor update, you will always get the last Android's version.
But HTC phones are more powerfull and XDA community will let you have the new Android OS
Cheers people. Ill get the HTC

Hi all,
I am in the process of helping my friend purchase an android phone. I'm not the best in decision making and since he is on At&t and I am on Verizon there is not a whole lot I can help him with... So I'm asking for recommendations on the best phone out there on At&t at a price no higher than $50 (refurbished is okay) This will be his first android phone and id love to get him to join the community but his concern is that he doesn't want the phone to be obsolete after a year (because he is signing a 2 year agreement) and doesn't at the moment want to flash any custom ROMs, but i may be able to change that.
Thanks in advance!

Opinion?
As it was asked earlier, This sound like an opinion question. But I do like facts and more information before recommending a device. However as far as overall "Android" device, I would say that is the Nexus line because of the heritage and Options/Customization.
if you talk about customization and numbers of roms made for it HTC HD2 and SGS-1 are best.
I think best tablet spec wise is the Nexus 10. The best phone is a dual between Nexus 4 and Samsung Galaxy S3.
My Nexus 10 is cooler than yours.

Hi,
I am from Canada Quebec . above mention are currently available phone in Canada. I love the new xperia Z but I don't know when it will come here and I want to take new plan this month.
Also the galaxy here is only dual core.
I want some thing that don't get outdated in 1 and half year.
thanks for your advise and help

I love my Nexus 4 so I might be a little biased saying go for the nexus, but to me it is amazing. Great screen, s4 pro, and beautiful build (although I use a case to cover my beautiful phone), and timely updates. Only complaint I have is battery. All for 350, no contract.

R: Nexus 4 or galaxy s3 or optimus G or BB10
Quad-core: xiaomi mi-two but is a phone in Apple stile.

I played around with my S3 and my boss' N4. I have a custom AOSP rom on the S3, and after seeing how the OS is almost the same, everything worked about the same, except the screen on the S3 seems to have more contrast and better colour saturation. And the screen on the S3 is a tiny bit bigger. So from these 2 phones I'd get the S3 if you find it for the right price.
The problem with S3 is that in Canada we only have dual core version. Which means it has outdated specs while all new phone off high end are quad core. AsI have to sign 3 year contact I don't want to be stuck with already outdated phone.
So what is your advise. Nexus 4 noon expendable memory is already an issue but if even battery life is bad to then it is no go too.
I am so confused

Had the Nexus4 for four months with no issues and it just keeps getting better with all the XDA development!
nexus 4
It's google so it'll be more convenient to reprogram it.
Try and Wait
I personally think that you should wait a bit longer for some of the newer phones to come out if not then the nexus 4 would be your best bet.
If you really need to buy a phone NOW, and can't wait for like ... a month and a half - then go for either Optimus G or Nexus 4 ... They have the specs for this year and the next one, Nexus being a Nexus will get more updates - but 4.1 is enough on a phone like Optimus G - you won't get any lags thx to Project Butter ... It all depends on you dude, I'd force myself to wait if I was you though ... Atleast for an S4, Optimus G Pro, HTC M7 or Xperia Z / ZL ...
Samsumg galaxy s3 for ever but xperia z... hmm so good!
If this was for myself I would choose the Nexus 4
Nexus 4 all day :good: These newer phones coming out. Don't care
nexus 4 all day ... S3 is a very good phone but the nexus is newer. And i don't like samsung.
i prefere nexus 4
Phablets Rule
I suggest you wait till the mobile world congress this February as a lot of new hardware will be announced. Some cool phablets are expected at the show as well. Also the Samsung Galaxy SIV is due next month. Just wait out a little longer to see whats on offer and then take a decision.

I seriously doubt that s4 will be coming out next month. I will say not before July_August. Sony z is making me wait but I am starting to doubt it will be in Canada any soon

You should get the nexus 4 off contract if you get that. If I were you I'd get the s3. My galaxy s2 has has specs that were top notch in 2011 and its dual core, but I'd wager that it running 4.1.2 on the Samsung based shostock3 ROM that it can compete easily performance wise with stock s3's and n4's. Maybe not the quad core beast of the note II...that being said I'm saving up the $600+ it will cost for an S4 this year.

Hello,
I only buy Nexus phone, first the Nexus One (live long and prosper), and now the Galaxy Nexus.
Usually they have the best support, good hardware and good price.
the 3 things I consider the most important.
Nexus 7 and 10 here.. Waiting for my Samsung phone to die so I can get a Nexus phone.
Strongly considered the 4, but the non-removable battery and lack of microSD support killed any chance of me owning one.
I got my s3... but really want a nexus now.. I just wish they had expandable memory. Sure a removable battery would be nice, but the memory is the bigger need of the two.. I think Google does that so you use their cloud services.

Currently still in my nexus s and ill change to the n4 in july!
Ill never get a non-nexus! ;D

I do love the look of the Nexus phones, but no micro-sd means I won't buy one, it just tells the manufacturers they can get away with hampering us, so unless Google ever puts expandable storage on, I'll never buy a Nexus device. Flashing another phone to something aosp based is really easy, so Nexus goodness without the drawback
I use a Tab 2 7.0 as a giant phone thats also a tablet aka phablet
I sure hope by the time this thing breaks, Nexus 7 will have proper phablet support, or, there will be a 5" nexus phone.
Have a Galaxy Nexus and a Nexus 7 : Completely Filled ! <3
I think as you all! Better Android stok that have all those changes that slow down devices
My n4 is my first nexus, but I probably won't be getting the next nexus if the continue to skip important features for me like lte, microsd and a larger battery. I actually haven't been so dissatisfied with a phone before.
