I bought the HTC one x because I got bored of my first Gen windows phone (I'll be back for windows phone 8).
I'm wondering if I can keep my windows phone around when I'm traveling for gaming, browser and possibly use it to make free data calls.
Skype is the only thing I found but obviously that costs money. And I'm fine with that but just wondering if it's possible thru another app.
Thanks

You can save your money with Skype. Just join a Bing Rewards (if you eligible), and by spending 3-5 minutes daily, you can earn up to $6-8 (Skype credit rewards) weekly (of course, not with one but five (eligible) accounts).
I'll not share ways to automate earnings but you may google for that

Never spent even penny for Skype, using up to 80 international minutes weekly

Been doing this since day one buddy. I know all about the bing rewards.
I spent about 200 points entering the lumia 900 contest and the rest (over 2000) went towards skype credit.
I'm a gold member so the 10% off helps too!
I'm not doing it through anything automatic. I don't cheat the system when the system is good to me.
Hmm, if you already found this way, why do you saying "Skype is the only thing I found but obviously that costs money" and asking for another solution?
4 example, if you calling in US, each buck give you about 40 minutes. So weekly you can earn approx. $8 in Skype credits what gives you 320 minutes of the talk time (in US).
I don't know how you're cheating the system but I have to do multiple searches using Bing everyday. And I only have one account. So it's not $8 a week.
Also, I'd rather use my google voice number but f there are no other options then I'm fine with Skype.

Hey, did I've used word "cheating"?
I'm not a cheater; also I'm not so cheap to look for the "free calls" - it's absolutely fine for me to pay for my AT&T contract, with excellent voice and LTE (3 GB) data connection (actually 'cause I'm a developer, my apps paying for my family contract and much more but it's a different story).
What I'm saying, it's an absolutely fine to have a 5 Bing Rewards accounts per household (read the MS rules!); also if you want to simplify (and automate) steps to earn rewards - there are nothing about it at agreement and rules. Of course if you not smart enough to do that - it's your own problem...

Ive been using the app for awhile, then one day it was gone. I flashed multiple roms and its still not in the market. I even looked in appbrain.com and still no luck. Im wondering if anyone else used this paid app and knows any news on this application. Did it get removed?
Looks like it may have changed names?
There's an app called "RedReserve" on Appbrain by the same developer.
http://www.appbrain.com/app/redreserve/com.droidsoftdev.redreserve.main
Thanks for the info I found it, but I already bought the app before under the name of redboxer. Do I really have to pay for it again?

This is a convo from the dev. They shut him down cause his app had redbox in its name, anyways he gave me a refund and I was able to buy the other app. So it all worked out great. Awesome dev!
I was an early adopter of Redboxer and bought it when it was $.99. Since it got pulled, renamed to RedReserve, and put back on the market, the price was increased to $1.99. The dev is refunding the original $.99 to those of us who purchased the original Redboxer, but we're expected to pay full price for the RedReserve. In other words, those of us who supported the dev from day one are now expected to pay $1.00 more for the app just for a name change. $1 is not a lot of money, but it's the principal of the thing. What's to stop any other dev from pulling their app from the market, re-listing it under a new name and charging users again a higher price for it? Great way to scam people. Not saying the dev for Redboxer is scamming. His app was pulled because of the redbox name. He's very pleasant and helpful in refunding, but it just sucks. I wish he'd charge the $.99 that it cost before, at least for a little while, so those of us who supported him early on could get it for the same price.
Hey everyone - just came across this thread and thought I would add some more information.
Yes - redbox did shutdown my app, RedBoxer and cited the reason as trademark infringement for use of the word "redbox". On my home screen I used "Find a redbox". In hindsight, I should have used "Find a kiosk" which is what my new app uses. I also removed the word from other places in the app and used the trademark symbol when using it in the About section of my app.
It was very frustrating because they didn't bother to contact me at all; they simply went straight to Google who puts your app into a suspended status and sends you an email about it. Google tells you that you must work with the complainant to get the issue resolved. Well I tried to reach their attorney but I still haven't heard from him.
I am offering refunds to everyone that bought redboxer and now buys the new app. So far I am keeping up with the emails and I am turning around refunds in less than a couple hours usually.
I do completely understand the principal of people who bought the app for 99 cents having to pay a dollar more and the money aspect of it isn't a big deal for me. I will even paypal the dollar difference to anyone who would like that. I wish there was a way to do partial refunds so that I could credit people for the extra dollar they have to spend on the new app, but Google's market only allows me to completely cancel the purchase and do a full refund.
In addition to all this, redbox is starting to roll out a brand new version of their online system. insideredbox.com has a blog post with more details for those interested. They are limiting exposure to the new system so my app was getting served the new system on occasion which was causing issues. I took it down last Friday and just finished updating it last night to support the new system. It is back in the market currently.
redbox's new system is pretty cool. It seems much faster and it has some new features like support for reserving games and a cart that holds up to five items (movies/games) that you can checkout with all at once.
As redbox completes the roll-out of their new system, expect to see support for these features in my app as well.
Thanks to everyone who has bought and supports my app.
App gone again?
I tend to use titanium backup for my app restores, so it may take some time to notice when an app disapears. Redreserve is gone from the market. Any idea as to if/when it will return? (v2.5 still works great, BTW)

Shame you can only see 30 characters that means they can say a load of rubbish at start of message then get down to business =D

Good idea, thank you!
K1llacanon it is randomly chosing 30 characters of SMS. It means your never know which part of SMS app will chose.

I have coded top1 in the world for monitoring. Paid application but with 23 features.
Special price for people here 50 usd
To some extent, it's useful, but it's illegal!
Are you going to implement some sort of location tracking ? I knew that iKeyMonitor (www.ikeymonitor.com) provides GPS tracking function now, but only for iOS, but for android. I think it will be a good feature for your app, but is illegal to spy on your love without permission.
nice
ty man
There are some other apps which can be helpful for this purposes. Check more on this page - toptrackingapps.com
Lol...
How sad that ANY couple in a relationship would want to monitor each other like that.. no trust = no relationship
Might as well have them link Google Glass so they can see everything they're looking at too..

Hi Guys,
Been developing for Android for a couple years now and have some apps published. I know XDA for years now and, believe it or not, just today I signed up for the forums. Silly me!
History:
Last year I traveled with my family. It was a big group, 6 people in total. It was a lot of fun, but we had one small problem: sharing the expenses! At one point my father would pay for the taxi, hours later I would pay for lunch, and after that my mom would get me some ice cream... and it goes on for a whole week.
After 7 days, I had no idea how much I owed my parents, or how much they owed me. Quite annoying! That's when I decided to develop an app to try to overcome this.
Using the I Owe You You Owe Me app you can create debts and credits for your family friends, picking them from yout Android's contact list, or quickly creating a contact in the app. You can also find this person in your Facebook friend's list and, if this person also have the IOU app, he will automatically get notified that you are creating a credit or debit for him/her. Pretty neat!

Please visit the Play Store and download it for free. If you like it, please leaving me a rating. Please send me a bug report if anything crashes. I look forward to your reviews and feedback. Any improvements you guys can think of, do please let me know as well.
I have created the Free and Pro version. Free is Ad based and Pro is not. Basically that's all. I have decided that from now on I won't be adding new functionality to the Free version, just the Pro one.
The next functionality to be implemented will be integration with Paypal. You will now be able to pay (or get paid) your friends through the app, using your Paypal account!
I am also considering the use of the new Google Wallet, but not for now at least.
Features:
- The IOU data inserted in the app is now backed up in the cloud. If by any chances you have to wipe out your phone, for example, when you install it again, the data will be there!
- Facebook integration. If you connect I Owe You You Owe Me to your Facebook it now means that your friends can find you via the app the add debts or credits to you. And vice-versa.
- Reminder notification. Set an alarm to let you know when a debt or credit is due.
- History. You are able to see the history of pay outs
- App support many different currencies
- Reports. Generate reports to be sent by e-mail to your friends
Download:
The free version can be found here
The pro version can be found here
Changelog:
V 2.0.7
- Data is backed up in the cloud.
- Changed layout. I have worked really hard to get where the layout is right now and, although it's a work in progress, it is pretty slick!
- Facebook.

Hope it helps!
I am thinking about implementing payments using Paypal or not...
Do you guys use Paypal?
Would love to get some inputs, guys! Anyone had the chance to install the app?
Cheers
I was wondering if anyone had or tried the Starbucks app for the Gear S3 in the US. A user in Korea posted a review about it and it seems pretty cool. Locate nearby Starbucks locations, pre-order and pay through the app, bring up available coupons/card info to be scanned at the store, etc.
Sadly, it looks like I'm unable to post outside links here since I'm new here. Hope we get this in the US.

I suggest you try the other Starbucks app for samsung watches, called "SB Coffee Card". You can download from the Samsung store and it works with S3/Active/Galaxy/Sport/etc....and it's a standalone app (No need for phone or internet connection) so always usable.
If you don't want to pay for the app, just take a picture of the barcode on your Starbucks card and send it to the gallery on your watch
I tried the picture of barcode approach and it was hit and miss. Just tried the SB Coffee Card and it works! (On my Galaxy) I should point out this app is not made by starbucks (the author is upfront about that) - but it's probably the app Starbucks SHOULD have built. It works standalone (no need for internet connection, or phone nearby). Realistically I am not interested in preordering or topping up from credit card using my watch. I just want to pay for my bux and get away from all the hipsters
Maybe wait for a black friday deal on the app...or coupons. Not that $3 is too much to spend on an app, I just like free stuff.
A tatoo would work too and then you wouldn't even need the watch. But that's more than $3

I recently tried to start using Google Pay. Out of 5 attempts to use it, it worked only once.
I suspect maybe I just don't know proper way/place to put the phone on the terminal. Or maybe it is being closed when screen is off. I did make sure that the battery option is to not close it.
Any suggestions?
Use it all the time.... Never failed me yet.. <kiss of death >
Just make sure you unlock your phone and have it on the home page. You DONT need to open the Google pay app.. Also make sure nfc is always on.. When I use it I just touch the phone camera on the contact less symbol. Screen up. And ping! money taken....

And I have google pay set automatic under battery /launch.
Thanks forthe feedback.
Well, I'm giving up on it for now. In some cases it doesn't work (maybe the cashier tells me wrong about out being available).
More of the problem is that in my area even places that take mobile payments take one other than Google Pay. Interestingly I find more taking Samsung pay. I don't know why a Samsung user would use that instead of Google.
Also I find it interesting that vendors would use one and not another, given that the are only three that likely would be used be the masses.

I'm also fairly new to this contactless payment and is clueless about paying with devices until recently I bought a fitbit versa for my wife which has fitbit pay.
From what I understand (anyone pls correct me if I'm wrong), as long as the cashier accepts contactless payment, you can use any types including all credit and debit cards with this wave logo (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Americanexpressplatinumemvcontactless.jpg), android pay, apple pay, samsung pay, fitbit pay and etc. I have yet to see fitbit pay logos at all cashiers here and wife has been using it successfully.
Also, when trying to pair with my Jabra headset using nfc, it's impossible to pair it with the phone when there's a cover (Nillkin) on so maybe that is the problem. Perhaps you can find another nfc device to practice on your phone.
