Redboxer app? - General Questions and Answers

Ive been using the app for awhile, then one day it was gone. I flashed multiple roms and its still not in the market. I even looked in appbrain.com and still no luck. Im wondering if anyone else used this paid app and knows any news on this application. Did it get removed?

Looks like it may have changed names?
There's an app called "RedReserve" on Appbrain by the same developer.
http://www.appbrain.com/app/redreserve/com.droidsoftdev.redreserve.main

Thanks for the info I found it, but I already bought the app before under the name of redboxer. Do I really have to pay for it again?

This is a convo from the dev. They shut him down cause his app had redbox in its name, anyways he gave me a refund and I was able to buy the other app. So it all worked out great. Awesome dev!

I was an early adopter of Redboxer and bought it when it was $.99. Since it got pulled, renamed to RedReserve, and put back on the market, the price was increased to $1.99. The dev is refunding the original $.99 to those of us who purchased the original Redboxer, but we're expected to pay full price for the RedReserve. In other words, those of us who supported the dev from day one are now expected to pay $1.00 more for the app just for a name change. $1 is not a lot of money, but it's the principal of the thing. What's to stop any other dev from pulling their app from the market, re-listing it under a new name and charging users again a higher price for it? Great way to scam people. Not saying the dev for Redboxer is scamming. His app was pulled because of the redbox name. He's very pleasant and helpful in refunding, but it just sucks. I wish he'd charge the $.99 that it cost before, at least for a little while, so those of us who supported him early on could get it for the same price.

Hey everyone - just came across this thread and thought I would add some more information.
Yes - redbox did shutdown my app, RedBoxer and cited the reason as trademark infringement for use of the word "redbox". On my home screen I used "Find a redbox". In hindsight, I should have used "Find a kiosk" which is what my new app uses. I also removed the word from other places in the app and used the trademark symbol when using it in the About section of my app.
It was very frustrating because they didn't bother to contact me at all; they simply went straight to Google who puts your app into a suspended status and sends you an email about it. Google tells you that you must work with the complainant to get the issue resolved. Well I tried to reach their attorney but I still haven't heard from him.
I am offering refunds to everyone that bought redboxer and now buys the new app. So far I am keeping up with the emails and I am turning around refunds in less than a couple hours usually.
I do completely understand the principal of people who bought the app for 99 cents having to pay a dollar more and the money aspect of it isn't a big deal for me. I will even paypal the dollar difference to anyone who would like that. I wish there was a way to do partial refunds so that I could credit people for the extra dollar they have to spend on the new app, but Google's market only allows me to completely cancel the purchase and do a full refund.
In addition to all this, redbox is starting to roll out a brand new version of their online system. insideredbox.com has a blog post with more details for those interested. They are limiting exposure to the new system so my app was getting served the new system on occasion which was causing issues. I took it down last Friday and just finished updating it last night to support the new system. It is back in the market currently.
redbox's new system is pretty cool. It seems much faster and it has some new features like support for reserving games and a cart that holds up to five items (movies/games) that you can checkout with all at once.
As redbox completes the roll-out of their new system, expect to see support for these features in my app as well.
Thanks to everyone who has bought and supports my app.

App gone again?
I tend to use titanium backup for my app restores, so it may take some time to notice when an app disapears. Redreserve is gone from the market. Any idea as to if/when it will return? (v2.5 still works great, BTW)

[APP] Starbucks Card Quick Pay 2.1 (unofficial barcode tool)

Update: version 2! Now with on-phone barcode generation instead of getting it from the internet! Plus, more streamlined interface!
For some reason Starbucks doesn't have an Android mobile pay app. So I made one! Update: Starbucks released an official app a few hours after I did. Sure wasn't expecting that.
This is a simple and lightweight way to load up a barcode from a Starbucks card. Doesn't do much else, but it's the quickest and easiest way from card to barcode. Even works with cards attached to an account!
Currently only works in the US at regular Starbuckses and ones that are part of Target and Safeway.
Download
Download the app from the Market or by scanning this barcode. You can also download the attached apk.

2.1 - fixed-size barcodes, cleaned up logo, interface cleanup
2.0 - on-board layout generator, new logo, streamlined interface
1.1 - updated barcode loader, dedicated portrait layout
I've never used Starbucks cards from smartphones before and I'm not sure of how they work, but I'm pretty sure almost no one is going to touch that until you explain the full internet permission in detail.
My Coffee Card does this, plus tons more features and great UI...plus the Pro version is free today from the Amazon App Store
But good to see another dev give it a go, good luck

The name of the app is My Coffee card, he wasn't saying it was his. The op said there was no starbucks app, but there are few that work with starbucks and do many more things than what his app does.

Fair enough.
It needs internet permissions to download the barcode (and for AdMob).
I know there are others out there, but I've heard that there isn't a mobile payment app (i.e. people can't find one) so I figure one with Starbucks actually in the name might be useful.

OK so I went to download your app and found this.....
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.starbucks.mobilecard&feature=search_result
The official app that lets you do everything and then some!
Not trying to ruin any publicity that you were getting but do you think Starbucks stole your thunder because it looks like they released their app a day after yours.......
Only works in the US? I'm in Canada
...How's that for coincidence. Oh well, I'll probably get some piggyback publicity from it. Can't ever say for sure since I never had a baseline to test it.
I don't think Starbucks does mobile pay outside the US yet. Almost half my downloads are from outside the US so that either means I'm wrong or the people downloading it are gonna be disappointed.
Btw, updated to 1.1. I really should have gone to bed but, well...
Updated to version 2.0. See OP for changes.
Updated to version 2.1, now with changelog!
Also, super secret news may or may not be coming soon!

[Q] Is there a way to make data calls on windows phone

I bought the HTC one x because I got bored of my first Gen windows phone (I'll be back for windows phone 8).
I'm wondering if I can keep my windows phone around when I'm traveling for gaming, browser and possibly use it to make free data calls.
Skype is the only thing I found but obviously that costs money. And I'm fine with that but just wondering if it's possible thru another app.
Thanks

You can if wifi or if you tether it. Just ignore the message about the SIM when it comes up.
Look at go voice i think its called. IT's google voice.
Or get Tango.me

You can save your money with Skype. Just join a Bing Rewards (if you eligible), and by spending 3-5 minutes daily, you can earn up to $6-8 (Skype credit rewards) weekly (of course, not with one but five (eligible) accounts).
I'll not share ways to automate earnings but you may google for that

Been doing this since day one buddy. I know all about the bing rewards.
I spent about 200 points entering the lumia 900 contest and the rest (over 2000) went towards skype credit.
I'm a gold member so the 10% off helps too!
I'm not doing it through anything automatic. I don't cheat the system when the system is good to me.
Hmm, if you already found this way, why do you saying "Skype is the only thing I found but obviously that costs money" and asking for another solution?
4 example, if you calling in US, each buck give you about 40 minutes. So weekly you can earn approx. $8 in Skype credits what gives you 320 minutes of the talk time (in US).
I don't know how you're cheating the system but I have to do multiple searches using Bing everyday. And I only have one account. So it's not $8 a week.
Also, I'd rather use my google voice number but f there are no other options then I'm fine with Skype.

Hey, did I've used word "cheating"?
I'm not a cheater; also I'm not so cheap to look for the "free calls" - it's absolutely fine for me to pay for my AT&T contract, with excellent voice and LTE (3 GB) data connection (actually 'cause I'm a developer, my apps paying for my family contract and much more but it's a different story).
What I'm saying, it's an absolutely fine to have a 5 Bing Rewards accounts per household (read the MS rules!); also if you want to simplify (and automate) steps to earn rewards - there are nothing about it at agreement and rules. Of course if you not smart enough to do that - it's your own problem...

Slightly Disappointed with Google Now?

I understand that Google doesn't want to create a privacy scare with Google Now, but I have to say that it isn't as useful as I was hoping. It shows me the weather in the morning and when to leave for the subway and when I had a flight it was cool to see the flight status. Beyond that though, I feel like it isn't being utilized to its full potential.
Anyone else feel this way? Have you thought of cool things Google Now could be doing?
I would love it if it actually read my calendar and noticed when there is a flight coming up. It'd be nice if it scanned my email and noticed that I have a package on the way and tracked that for me.
Maybe Google can have different tiers? The current Google Now can be for privacy freaks and people who love and trust Google can increase the amount of data that Google Now uses? I don't know....they just need to figure out something...
I get the impression its something that will be useful but that right now is one of those google services that is going to be essentially in beta for the next few years.
It is kind enough to tell me to go to the train station to get to work but only ever gives bus timetables. Its obviously aware of the train times as the directions to work tells me how long till the train leaves just doesn't seem to like timetables.
Weather works tells me home/work and occasionally where i am at that moment.
It has once brought up a card for pubs/restraunts nearby which i wouldn't mind being more consistent
I find it doesn't refresh very often. Today on way home it said last refreshed 39minutes ago, chose refresh and it just stayed the same claiming the same 39 minutes.
One day i think it will be a great feature but right now it doesn't work well enough to be more than a gimmicky preview of things to come.
Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk 2
To be honest, I don't see what the big deal about it is. Then again, it's not like I'm boarding flights and going to appointments every other day... and I usually know where I'm going if I'm leaving anywhere. As for the weather, I look out the window for that lol. Maybe in a few years Google Now will cook me eggs in the morning.

I tried it on my Sprint GS3, uninstalled, went back to regular search box. It does just what I need.
I enjoy this, maybe because I'm curious and love working new features. Honestly if you ask me.. its better than the Original Search right? I mean its the Original Search basically with awesome new features.
I guess if you aren't into your phone, or phone features you'd probably not care much. But this is a step forward for Google.. it may not show much compared to siri but at least they are making an effort?
I love it.
Even made the Google Now "Weather Card" which turned out pretty amazing.

[App][2.2+]I Owe You You Owe Me[May 13][v2.0.7]

Hi Guys,
Been developing for Android for a couple years now and have some apps published. I know XDA for years now and, believe it or not, just today I signed up for the forums. Silly me!
History:
Last year I traveled with my family. It was a big group, 6 people in total. It was a lot of fun, but we had one small problem: sharing the expenses! At one point my father would pay for the taxi, hours later I would pay for lunch, and after that my mom would get me some ice cream... and it goes on for a whole week.
After 7 days, I had no idea how much I owed my parents, or how much they owed me. Quite annoying! That's when I decided to develop an app to try to overcome this.
Using the I Owe You You Owe Me app you can create debts and credits for your family friends, picking them from yout Android's contact list, or quickly creating a contact in the app. You can also find this person in your Facebook friend's list and, if this person also have the IOU app, he will automatically get notified that you are creating a credit or debit for him/her. Pretty neat!

Please visit the Play Store and download it for free. If you like it, please leaving me a rating. Please send me a bug report if anything crashes. I look forward to your reviews and feedback. Any improvements you guys can think of, do please let me know as well.
I have created the Free and Pro version. Free is Ad based and Pro is not. Basically that's all. I have decided that from now on I won't be adding new functionality to the Free version, just the Pro one.
The next functionality to be implemented will be integration with Paypal. You will now be able to pay (or get paid) your friends through the app, using your Paypal account!
I am also considering the use of the new Google Wallet, but not for now at least.
Features:
- The IOU data inserted in the app is now backed up in the cloud. If by any chances you have to wipe out your phone, for example, when you install it again, the data will be there!
- Facebook integration. If you connect I Owe You You Owe Me to your Facebook it now means that your friends can find you via the app the add debts or credits to you. And vice-versa.
- Reminder notification. Set an alarm to let you know when a debt or credit is due.
- History. You are able to see the history of pay outs
- App support many different currencies
- Reports. Generate reports to be sent by e-mail to your friends
Download:
The free version can be found here
The pro version can be found here
Changelog:
V 2.0.7
- Data is backed up in the cloud.
- Changed layout. I have worked really hard to get where the layout is right now and, although it's a work in progress, it is pretty slick!
- Facebook.

Do you guys use Paypal?
Would love to get some inputs, guys! Anyone had the chance to install the app?

If you didn't get a coupon code for the Darth Star face, and you wanted one, just be patient as there will be another promotion for that face in the future.
For today though, I am releasing coupon codes for an equally impressive face which is featuring full animation. Hope you all like it. The codes are currently active so if you want one GET IT WHILE YOU CAN! Every region has a limited number of coupons, the regions with lower download rates will have less coupons. First come first serve!

Same as before, please read the instructions carefully if you are having trouble using the coupon code before posting or emailing for help.
*The difference this time is that you will need to send an email to request your code. The email just needs to be a minimum of the name of the face, "Pure Energy", AND MAKE SURE YOU PROVIDE YOUR REGION so that it is clear your reason for email being sent as there is also other day to day operations. Feel free to provide more on requesting but it is not necessary. As long as you have a valid return email address, you will receive your code within 24 hours.

Instructions for use:
1. How to register coupons
On your phone, go to Settings > Accounts > Samsung Account > Profile > Samsung Account benefits > Add
gift card or coupon, and register a coupon to the buyer's account.
2. How to use the voucher
On the app purchase page, select 'Apply discounts' and select a coupon to use.
3. Matters that require attention
[*]All coupons issued before the version update (revision) will be expired
[*]The promotional coupons must be used within 4 weeks after issuing. This does not mean you have 4 weeks, this means 4 weeks from approximately 1/8/2017
[*]Coupons can be only used in the respective countries
[*]The issued coupons can only be used for specific version of specific applications, and if the application is updated, the coupons become invalid. (Coupons are automatically nullified)
[*]A coupon is only available for Galaxy Device. In case of Gear app, the user who have other phone pairing Samsung Gear cannot use coupon.
This is an improvement being that everyone will be issued an individual code and that way there will be no issue with having to try multiple codes to get one to work. Also, this way we can log who has offered feedback and proven to be a contribution to the process. Anyone who consistently fails to offer feedback, be it through the store or through email, will not be invited to subsequent promotions. After all, this is whole idea, offering free work in order to receive feedback and therefore improve the product! Thanks in advance to everyone who participates and to any who did so previous.
