Cracked Screen!!! - HTC Sensation

Dammit!!! I cracked my screen tonight.
Am gonna try and get it repaired under warranty but need a little guidance reverting back to stock Vodafone Australia ROM.
So far I have a nandroid copy of my original stock Rom (Gingerbread 2.3.5) and have downloaded the required firmware from Kohr's thread.
What I want to know is: if i restore my stock rom and flash the firmware,
can I then follow viper's thread to get s- on...etc...?
Or do I have to find the stock RUU and install that instead?

Stock RUU will be hard to find, no? (Considering that it's branded)
Please wait for a senior member to guide you though. I'm not absolutely sure about how you can go back to stock.
And how exactly did the screen crack? Gorilla glass is pretty strong! :O

You wont get physical damage fixed under warranty. It's a warranty, not insurance.

Sorry.. its insurance I have. I pay $10 extra a month that covers any self damage...
I have a 18 month old that was pretty heavy handed with his toys and my phone..

Since this is an insurance issue not a warranty issue tell ins you lost phone NOT STOLEN. This will allow you to keep your phone for spare parts and you won't have to worry about going back to stock. It sucks when you break your phone and they want you to pay a deductible and return your old phone. Keep it easy en if you don't need spare parts someone does

You also can fix it yourself if you don't want to do a insurance claim, just a option.

Yeah my only problem with this is that I lost my phone in January and had it replaced through insurance that cost me 260.. I can't afford to pay that again right now and am pretty sure replacing the screen will be cheaper.

Dam I could of got two phones for that price with tmobile and ins is only 8 bucks a month for insurance. Ok if you are going to buy a screen I would suggest buying the lcd screen as well they are very delicate. I replaced a digitizer in a G2 and was super careful and still lcd got messed up. At worst you will have an extra lcd screen. My wife ran her sensation over with her car looked horrible but was still fully functional. Don't know how bad your cracked is but maybe you can just deal with the cracked until your next upgrade

I dropped my XE and cracked the USB-input and it went under warranty

The crack is on the top right corner and the phone is still functional.. but I don't know of I can hold out till my upgrade in 6 months!! It's already annoying me..hmmm.. what to do?

maybe give it a go at replacing it yourself. Espically if its really bothering you, if you feel comfortable doing things like that. If you don't feel comfortable changing it yourself, for sure use
Insurance to fix it! Hope this helps . Good luck either way! Hope you get it fixed soon.

Tmobile Return Policy?

Hey guys,
I bought my Sensation 9 days ago (Black Friday) on a new contract at Target, for $50. Cant turn that down. Anyhow I rooted it, and moments ago i dropped it, with the cord it the phone. The chip in the plug it port is crooked and i cant plug in the phone or charge it. If i go back to Target today do you think they'll replace it for free? I wasnt sure with the whole losing your warrenty with rooted, or if they would even do it. Thanks
Your warrantee for the store should still be valid. They will return it for you and they will return the phone back as defective. But you should get a replacement phone through target.
By the way you should've went to Walmart they give you 100 dollar gift card for any smartphone you get on a new or upgraded contract. And they match the proce of anyone. Besides they have the sensation for 48
Maybe think about that?

ok easy fix kill battery and bring it back tell them you have been busy and you just now getting to it and you see the phone is messed up and wont keep a charge dont draw attion to chip but if they see it tell them thats how you got it may have to fight custumer always right and you want a replace ment not refund so they still get paid
dont worry about root if you kill battery they cant tell or dont know how just put stock rom in

They won't even ask many questions, just bring it back all packaged up they won't bother to undo it then. Get your money back go to walmart and get that deal over there. Profit

HTC 1-Year Manufacturer Warranty

I just bought an HTC Panache and it came with the bad eMMC and bad screen. WOW the display is noticeably different from my MyTouch4G even when looking straight on.
Anyway, since it is still covered under HTC manu warranty, would I be able to send it in with the request of the new eMMC and the Sony display?
Who should I contact? I sent an e-mail to HTC and they're directing me to some third-party called PCD or something.
Has it worked for you? Should I just call them directly and see if I can talk them into something?

i bought my glacier off craigslist. In rooting with the gfree method, i ended up with a brick that blinks a yellow light (download mode). Tmobile was unable to help me, but i called htc and they took care of it.
I had to pay shipping to them, and i got back the same phone fixed about 2 weeks late i think.
not sure how easy it will be when you have a phone that works but has flaws, my situation was such that the phone was clearly broken, so there was no judgment call by the rep.
i called the htc customer service number here:

HTC warranty

I bought mine off Craigslist so I don't have T-Mobile warranty. I have a small crack on the top left of screen. Will htc cover that? Also how easy is it to unroot? And if they send me a different phone will I be able to root it? In case of newer boot loader?

Hi,
Yes ,no matter who owns the phone, the warranty is still valid.
I doubt ,though, that a cracked screen would be covered.
Ring HTC,and see.
Unroot and s-on can be found HERE
Any phone that is currently returned, seems to come back with a 1.29 hboot.
It is getting increasingly more difficult to unroot,s-off etc.
Cheaper faster to YouTube screen replacement do ur self

Look at Dat Dust

So this is an accumulation of dust that has graduatedly built in my pocket. And now it is under my Sensation's screen. It's a T-Mobile phone and I acquired it through a trade here on XDA, can HTC still cover it? Is their warranty still active if I acquired it that way? Because I want them to fix this and seal it off so the dust doesn't come back once again. Because there's no correct DIY. Any suggestions? And yes I'll unroot it and reset everything before I send it in.
I don't think you can do any warranty work through T-Mobile. But the warranty is exchangeable so you can contact HTC and they will ask you for the IMEI number and maybe the serial number. And if the device is still under warranty they will still honor the warranty.
Mine has around the same amount of dust in the same spot. Is it true that HTC updates your firmware when you return it to them to fix it, and you will not longer be able to root it?

I called in today and I am still under warranty . They're replacing the digitizer, the gorilla glass, and cleaning the dust, then sealing it up.

How to brick a onex

This may sound strange...but i need to find a way to brick my phone so that not even the bootloader will work.
i tried flashing different roms from different phones but everything seems to have a script to check phone models now so it wont let me flash.
i also tried to wipe everything, cache, system and stuff and force rebooting, doesnt work either.
any ideas?
May I ask why you want to do this?

My earpiece volume is very low to the point i cant hear anyone while walking on the street.
i borrowed my sisters onex and hers was totally fine.
i have a service plan through futureshop but they wont take it back if i modified it (they are smart enough to check bootloader which says tampered and stuff all over it)
so in order for me to fix it/get a new one i have to brick it to the point where they cant even see the tampering

His earpiece is defective. If he had not installed a ROM he would have been able to get a replacement. I dont think he should be punished for flashing a ROM by being forced to keep an already detective device.

When did his earpiece start being defective ? I'm sure it didn't come after rooting? he should have gotten a replacement before and than got a new one and than flashed away...butthere is a warning on every root guide that it will void your warranty but oh well.......on a another note if the op wants to brick his phone go to international one x forums and flash coredroid or android revolution roms if u want to do some damage to that baby

I've discussed this many times, unlocking your bootloader does NOT void your warranty.
HTC says it MAY void your warranty.
Flash a ruu and send it back would be the ethical way to go. They don't check the bootloader, they probably send it to HTC or some sort of repair center.
Me personally I would brick it to reduce the chance of them trying to stick me with the cost of the phone. But I wouldnt tell anyone

Actually yes this problem happened after root/bootloader unlock
I am not the only one with this problem and it hasnt been the first phone ive had with this problem either
It was fine for a couple of months and then it was on and off, sometimes the volume will be normal in calls and sometimes it wont
then it just fully dies and stays a low volume
had the exact same problem with my evo3d and xperia arc

Wouldn't a bricked device be more suspicious than a defective earpiece? What would be the situation you could brick a device without unlocking the bootloader, or using a microwave? They can verify the earpiece is bad. I have some sort of defect with the screen, like a scratch or smudge between the LCD and the glass. I was just going to send it back with the bl relocked. But, my new one came with 2.20 already on it. So, I sent it back and will try again later for another, or if an exploit is found for 2.20, or take them up on the early upgrade GS III offer.
How bad is the earpiece issue? Worse than running stock sense? You may want to wait until you get a replacement to decide what to do.
