I just bought an HTC Panache and it came with the bad eMMC and bad screen. WOW the display is noticeably different from my MyTouch4G even when looking straight on.
Anyway, since it is still covered under HTC manu warranty, would I be able to send it in with the request of the new eMMC and the Sony display?
Who should I contact? I sent an e-mail to HTC and they're directing me to some third-party called PCD or something.
Has it worked for you? Should I just call them directly and see if I can talk them into something?

i bought my glacier off craigslist. In rooting with the gfree method, i ended up with a brick that blinks a yellow light (download mode). Tmobile was unable to help me, but i called htc and they took care of it.
I had to pay shipping to them, and i got back the same phone fixed about 2 weeks late i think.
not sure how easy it will be when you have a phone that works but has flaws, my situation was such that the phone was clearly broken, so there was no judgment call by the rep.

The bad emmc is a load of garbage. I have been flashing my phone repeatedly for a whole year now with no problems on the bad emmc.

I thought I was the only one who felt this way...the data they used to determine it was far from conclusive...not everyone reported when they bricked their phone. I've always felt it was user error, but I could be wrong

well i just rooted and backed up my nandroid from my mt4g
everything working perfectly, i couldnt care less about the eMMC anymore, i just wont mess with it and crackflash with the mt4g instead
but the screen.. its a HUGE difference compared to the sony display used on my mt4g

I do believe that there was a bad batch of emmc chips, but I don't think that all of that batch was bad. I think that only a portion of them are doomed to fail.

My power button is hard to press now. It takes two/three presses to function. My phone is new so I called tmobile and they said there is nothing they can do as far as that issue. It isnt a known issue as far as the device. Has anyone noticed this? Or am I crazy lol? I looked online and some people say they were able to get a replacement. I think I will call again tomorrow. Is there a quick fix or should I just prepare to ship it in to tmobile and start the unrooting process.

It shouldnt even be an issue, as long as you have insurance. I got mine from an XDA member, had one of the bad screens, and I called the night I got it to swap it out.

Called htc and they said the same thing. Tmobile said they cant do anything and htc as well. For some reason they are saying that my phone was never registered and I cant get a warranty exchange for my device.

this is my first mytouch 4g. i sorta blame it on myself but the phone is in perfect condition. im pretty much stuck with it until i buy the g2x next week

also i know money people wont look at this post but the same thing happened to my nexus one, the phone is perfectly fine but i guess months of pressing it too hard to get it into boot loader etc etc.. depressed the button underneath the powerbutton so nowi have a nexus on my draw that i cant get fixed htc said theys do it for 198 or 98 one of the 2 either way they can suck it im sure its not that hard to fix
so everyone take it easy on your power buttons they mess up every now and then
as for waranty and insurance i dont have any i think the insurance company is a rip off 6 dollars a month to just send u a refurbished phone that will have the same problem if not a new one in a couple of weeks if not months.

yes it happens all the time you have just never heard of it happening before...
Nothing wrong here. Three replacements sent next day delivery all arrived as scheduled. I live in a house though, so maybe its easier for them to deliver it? It sounds like a ups issue, not a t mobile one...

Mine was just a replacement "withing first 30 days." I guess if this one is defective too, I would not want to play the roulette and will get Sensation.
Update: second mytouch 4g. One little piece of dust underneath the screen. I think I had it.
Where one lint, there will be another right?

I don't see how this is a problem. The MT4G is a premium product and something like dust under the screen I would consider DOA. This is still a 400 dollar phone buying from tmo

DUST SUCKS. In high light when you are reading or watching something on your phone it is absolutely terrible even if you have a bit of dust
I might be in the same boat as you. On my third warranty replacement in 2 weeks, and I'm getting a seriousl wifi death grip issue. Sucks so bad, because other than that I love this phone. Called T-Mobile and explained the situation to them, and they offered me a G2. wtf.

Agreed.. I have dust under my screen but in no way does it impede viewing the screen. It's something I've experienced with every device I've ever had, and I never cared.
I dropped my Sensation 2-feet high with it's "Protective case"
And my whole screen shattered.
I didn't get insurance... am I screwed?

Think you need to get a new screen and a good internet guide to screen replacement, is not too difficult on most phones but haven't tried on this one yet so couldn't say for definate

Ive been in this phone a few times now and compared to other htc phones (Im looking at you HD2) this thing is a DREAM (not a G1) to repair. very simple to open, very easy to seperate the lcd from the digi, nothing really hiding to surprise you.
as long as you take it slow and pay attention to what you're doing you should be fine.
if you get to a point where you think you may damage something do a local search for "CPR Cell Phone Repair" and they can help you out. there's a decent chance there is one in your area, and if not you can always mail it to them
oh man just happend to me about a month ago!!
it is a new phone i had to wait till i get some of the repair shop order it for me online and fix it.
please be advaised dont think it is an easy Job, i really had bad time with the service and i returend the phone for almost 3 times to fix the screen!!!
be aware of the senstive issue that might come up from installing new digitizer/screen
i really advise you to go to the best repair shop in your area or HTC repair center will be better for sure even if it will cost you.
at least you have allot options to repair your phone unlike me, you just need to think about it.

i dont advise doing that is not an easy JOB specailly for the lower part of the screen there is a cable and it is diffcult to be connected as the repair man said.
this will lead to a senstive issues regarding the Ring lock and other unresponsive screen issues.

I just found out I have a bad emmc I had my.phone for a while I think like 3-4 months I started flashing around a month and a half ago I used gfree to root like a month after I got it I flashed 4 Roms reflashed a couple Rom twice . Do u all think I'm in the clear ?

You should be in the clear. I had a bad eMMC phone and was fine for months upon months. Seems like the ones that fail, fail rather shortly after rooting.

If it matters I also have bad emmc but flash like anything. My previous mt4g was also a bad one and I had it for like 6 months flashing all the time before I noticed dust under the screen and had it replaced.

No warranty is implied when you root and flash anyway. If there was a time to be frustrated, it would be upon discovering the bad display, not a bad eMMC, because having said eMMC is no foolproof indicator of eventual failure. Write cycles to the eMMC also happen more often than when just flashing.

I've had my mt4g since January, rooted for a while, good display bad emmc.
So far I don't have an expensive paper weight, happy flashing

How long have you had your phone cause even though I bought my Mytouch 4G off of craigslist and I have a prepaid plan I had an issue with my phone about 2 months ago and Tmobile exchanged it for me. They give you a 1 year warranty I did say I bought the phone brand new from 1 of there authorized dealer stores and I was good to go the only bad thing is I had to send them my phone 1st then once they received it they was supposed to immediately send me another phone but took about a month to get it back.

See that is the thing about me i just cant wait that long, i only have this phone, and its rooted running sense 3.5 ROM..i originally got the phone this march, and rooted after 6months into my contract, so I've been good..
I have bad emmc and display, and as far as emmc is concerned, I also have zero deductible insurance from wirefly..... ;-)

I've got bad emmc, good screen. Had phone since February and have been a flash happy crackhead ever since!! Hell I've even flashed roms not for our phone lol... But I'm still going strong. In fact..I'm starting to get the shakes, where the hell is ICS??

It's quite possible that Samsung just had a single bad batch and that the chip is perfectly fine on many phones manufactured outside that part window. About all anyone can say for certain is that the vast majority of reported failures were on the Samsung eMMC. Sounds like you may be out of the woods at this point. Good luck!
Interesting little story about how I received my One S:
For the past year or so, I was using the T-Mobile LG G2x. Good at first, then I started to really dislike the phone for a variety of reasons. I ended up dropping my phone about a month after receiving it, cracking the top of the screen. The phone was still fully functional.
So last month I'm like, you know what, I'm tired of looking at the crack, let me use my insurance/deductable to get a new one. I file my claim online (130$) and they send me a refurbished G2x with a Samsung battery....
So I call them up; they apologize profusely and I request to just have them send me the new battery. They said they couldn't because "the whole package has to be together." They said they looked in their inventory and they are out of stock on the G2x (presumably since they no longer produce them). They said they would be able to offer me another device, a brand new HTC One S, to try for a week; if I like it I can keep it, if not I can return it and we can discuss other devices.
Safe to say, I love the HTC One S. It is the best phone I have ever used and I plan on using it for a long time.
Funny how things work out eh?

It's hard to brick your phone very hard if your not trying to do it someone made a thread how to brick their one s that's how hard it is if ur not trying at the most you'll go into a bootloop Nd easy to get out of its the part of learning it took Me 1week to root my phone and 6 attempts to get my first good Rom on its just a part of learning now it never happens to me cuz I understand it all one s was my first android phone
