Is anyone having a problem with the screen, well the phone, clicking when you touch the corners? Over the past few days it seems like the actual phone and back cover are not connected tightly resulting in a click sound and feel when typing on the keyboard. I have tried to re-seat the back cover with no luck. I am going to try and get an exchange today but the whole design around a uni body phone worries me long term.
I've posted the same thing and you're not alone. What you can do is put a paper inside the case and it'd resolve your problem for now

There appears to be some build quality issues with some devices out there last night I discovered that vibrate doesn't work on my phone.
check out my 1st and 2nd post in this thread just called T-Mobile and they're overnighting my phone, I love this phone but this is the first phone I had to exchange twice
Mcp,
Unfortunately I have to go threw hell to get mine replaced since my wife is an employee.
Bad vibrations... lol
I noticed on mine the vibration is very mild compared to say the MyTouch 4G.

I have it to, actually dont know if I should take it so seriously.
Yhe it clicks a little but nothing serious.
Yup, my one day old sensation also clicks and make that noise when I press on the bottom right of the screen, just like yours. Also, the capacitive buttons are unevenly lit. This is my second unit, and I am very disappointed. I returned the first one because of a wacky battery. Build quality on that one was perfect. I might return this unit also.
Any other folks with the same issue?

I already talked to them and they were ready to overnight the replacement phone but they said they couldn't because I'm in my buyers remorse period
the bottom right corner seemed loose for me too, but i din't care that much and now, after using it for about 2 weeks it fits tight. don't know what happened.
anyone with loose buttom right corner and now its tight ???
what did you do ??
mine is loose too !!!
thats my second unit too... the first one made crackling noises when typing messages. this one is better ... but with loose corner !!!
mine is more like a loose right side. you can physically feel the screen go in to the back cover

Yes, my first unit was flawless, I would have kept it if not for the wacky battery. This one annoys me every time I press on the right lower portion. I'm weighing my options, I only have 3 days left to exchange/return it to walmart

Got the same problem.
Tomorrow i am gonna switch back covers and see if it is the issue.
I think when you take the back cover of to many times the right side will show this problem.
Greetz.
Happens to my phone as well only if I press the right point. That sounds come from the battery. Pull the backcover and press on the battery then you'll hear some clicks. But I couldn't figure out how to solve that. Even putting paper didn't help.
So I am just wondering if I'm just have a run of bad luck. Bought my one x the release day. Few days later started seeing dead pixels all over the screen. Took it to att and they swap it out no problem.
Second one seem fine the first day but then I notice tons of light leakage like the screen wasnt in all the way around the bottom and right side. The screen would also wiggle and make a popping sound if I pressed on it on the bottem left corner, right corner, and top right corner. The plastic on the bottom would also move if I pressed it.
I happen to luck out and found an att close by that had one in (damn you apple). Now this one the screen is clicking even worse than the second one. If I wipe the screen off I can hear it clicking and popping with even the lightest pressure. Also have light leakage across the bottom again and what looks like single dots almost like a dead pixel even though there is no pixel by the buttons where light is shining through the black. I expect to have att replace this one also.
So I was just wondering am I have terrible luck or should I expect this from all hox? I love the device but really wont keep it if I keep getting shotty devices.
That's some pretty bad luck... Still on my first. No problems except for the tiniest bit of bleed on one side, and I cannot over emphasize tiny. Hope it stays that way too.
Still on first as well

You must have been on a streak of bad luck for your HOX...
I am currently on my second. The first one had a defect in the upper-right side (near the volume rocker and front-facing camera) where it would very loudly "creak" whenever I picked it up and/or was using it. And the screen/display in that area was "mushy" as I was able to be push the internal casing into the polycarbonate shell a few millimeters without hardly any force at all.
I bought it at Best Buy and when I brought it in I just asked IF it would be considered a defect and they suggested replacing it without me even asking. The second one I got is very solid in comparison to the issues from the first one but the volume rocker does "wiggle" a bit and the bottom (near the microphone) "creaks" but only if I apply direct pressure on it. I understand the nature of how the internal "frame" is placed into the "shell" so I don't think those are issues at all so I am very pleased with the build quality. Also, I keep it in a Otterbox Defender now so I don't even notice either issue at all.
This sucks that I'm having this luck but thanks for the feed back.

Some of these small creeks or wiggles are somethings that might just need to be accepted. We are too often perfectionists. Not realists.

I agree that we can sometimes expect too much.
The One X is unique in it's design in that the "internal frame" that holds the display, screen, motherboard, battery, etc. actually "snaps" into the outer polycarbonate shell, not with screws like almost all other smartphones.
The "creak" that was coming from my first HOX was an undeniable defect, it was so loud the BB employees could hear it over all the crowd noise and it would do that just by handling it normally, not to mention the screen had way too much "give". The "creak" in my second HOX is probably just a "normal" side-effect of the design, as it is very faint and only happens when I try, and I have totally accepted that (as I have already mentioned I see it as a non-issue).
But to be honest, I don't think the consumer should just "accept" flaws and poor build quality, things should not "creak" or "wiggle" (that were never meant to) within a few days of use. Some people can deal with it but we should not have to, so if someone is unhappy with their product then they have every right to exchange it or return it.
I'm on my second, first one swapped for connection issues (had to toggle airplane mode for it to work any time I lost service or was in an area with poor reception)... Only to find out that my second does the exact same thing.. considering swapping again because 1.85 screwed it up even more.

I agree that often perfectionist and it's my downfall. I'm ok with the very small light leak I have on this one . But just touching my screen near top and hearing it "pop" just shouldn't happen and afraid it will get worse as time goes on. And seeing as I bought this phone out right I don't feel as if I'm being to unreasonable. I mean I must of traded in 20-35 iPhones in my time for even smaller defects. Going back to the iPhone 3g.

Uuuummmm..... My HTC does not have any of the problems that people have mentioned in the thread. No bleeding light, creeking noises or pixel issues. Not one single issue. I have even dropped it about 5 times and it skidded about 10 feet each time. Still good as new. Actually the builded quality for me compared to the Sony phone is night and day. Sorry to hear about everyone bad luck. So far its been the best phone that I have owned.

Volume Rocker Wake works on CM9 Alpha 5
I've been using CM9 Alpha 5 for a few hours now and it's great !
The first think I set was the Volume Rocker Wake as the Power Button is not as easy to press when using most cases covering the power button.
To enable it, go to SETTING --> DISPLAY --> VOLUME ROCKER WAKE
it enables waking the phone by pressing the volume rocker EITHER up/down.
There is no way to specify one or the other
However, it works great ! I'm really liking CM9, my only complaint is the missing HTC Camera which was just amazing with the hardware burst (I'm still looking for a way to flash it if that's even possible).
same
same here. hate this button
It amazes me that this button layout made it to production. Did they forget to test it before mass producing them? It's horribly uncomfortable to reach up there and press it. Only takes one awkward reach to realize that.

Found issue! Need to come up with solution...
So my HOX had great "clicky" unlock button that now all of a sudden is "soft". I was so bothered by it that I took the phone apart and found the issue. On the actual switch there is supposed to be a small dot on the bubble portion of the switch. If you look at the volume switch on the right side you should see what it should look like. This dot is something looks like it was stuck on on the exterior of the bubble surface so I am trying to think of a solution. Maybe a dot of crazy glue? Any ideas?
If you use crazy glue, chances are, the area of pressure on the bubble is going to increase, possibly not allowing the bubble to rebound.
Sent from my HTC One XL using xda premium
My fix...
Yeah glue didn't work. What I did was get a tiny piece of strong tape, actually used a piece from some industrial strength velcro, and added my own little dot on the bubble. Now it works better that ever! There is a site that sells the actual power button so if this doesn't work for a long perios of time I will just end up replacing the switch. The image of the button shows the little black dot that I was missing on mine.

First off I'd like to thank h8rift for his amazing port of CM10 to the One XL.
As an experiment, I wanted to test the battery with the screen on at all times and this phone just would not die. I stopped at 15%, but I probably could have hit 9 hours screen time if I let drain a bit more.
For reference, I didn't have mobile data connected as I was on Wi-Fi the entire time. Limited use of the phone, as you can see by the processes.
I am fairly new to whole rooting/unlocking/flashing aspect of Android, but boy am I glad I took the jump.
Looks amazing tho what Rom is it?

So you turned your screen on and let it sit for 17 hours? Not really a "true" benchmark of battery but impressive none the less. Go post this in the battery thread and troll on all the other phones' battery thread saying the HOX is superior
You didn't even use the phone. I can leave my screen on overnight too and see 8 hours screen time. That's hardly "insane" or thread worthy for that matter.
Quit hatin guys....have you had a previous device that could do this? I haven't.

I agree.. I just got the phone as well.. I traded my Samsung Galaxy S3 in for this phone.. and I'm beginning to regret my decision, I could leave the Galaxy off like this guy did and get 1 day 11 hours and 13 mins, obviously from time to time just checking the basics like if I've missed a call or new messages.. and I am happy with that.. but this phone I try doing the same usage and I can get the 11 hours, but not the extra day of usage.. so I'm really disappointed in my decision so far.. this weekend when I get paid again, I'm probably going to trade it back in for the SGS3 .. I love Sense, and I love the update to 4.0.4 Software version 2.20.502.7 It made the phone a hell of a lot more usable in day to day usage.. but it's still not enough to trump the SGS3..
However, if someone can give me good reasons to convince me to stick with the 1X please feel free, it'll save me another $100.. lol..

I find it odd you're getting better battery life on the S3 than on the One X, since almost everyone seems to find them fairly comparable. I assume you have the exact same apps installed on both?
Yeah, I'm very specific.. there are certain apps i can't live without and theme-ing i love looking at... I hear it's due to the optimization of the UI.. but I use Nova Launcher anyways.. so it shouldn't really matter.. but I think it has to do with how fast the phones put themselves into "Dormancy mode".. but who knows. well.. other than actual "Developers".. lol.
But I'm can't help but notice the minor differences between the 2 phones.. like another that I just got fed up with is the fact that this phone appears to've been made for Right handers, I'm a lefty, and I can just notice the differences, but anyhow. enough about the phones little foibles ..

Sense is a battery hog. Everyone knows it and HTC have done things to lessen the strain on the battery but a SG3 with an extended battery and an aosp ROM is going to give better battery life. That is just a fact. Is the extra battery life worth giving up a way better screen and form factor...that's up to each person. I would rather have the one X.

Dude that's hilarious.. Even I had to laugh at that.. I know it sounds dumb, but if you look at where everything is, in comparison to the SGS3. Try holding the 1X with your left hand and try pressing the Volume rockers, or the Power button.. It's awkward to do,.. And Yes, I completely agree that the majority of the world are Right handed.. but even Apple got it right, try Google-ing the photo for the iPhone Guess what hand they are holding the phone with.. lol.. :silly: j/k but honestly..I do like the phone.. I'm just trying to justify trading the phone back in for the SGS3 to myself, and also pointing out certain things I've noticed.. trust me.. I did the same thing with the SGS3 right before I got rid of it.. I came up with any excuse to get rid of it, and now I want it back.. goes to show you, "Some people just don't know what they really want." ha ha..
Now see I'm a lefty....and I have to disagree here..
Obviously everything is made for righties...but honestly try holding the phone in your right hand and try to hit the power button....I can't do it.
In my left hand it fits perfect so my thumb is on the upper left side and index finger is perfectly aligned to hit the power button. In this same position my middle and ring finger line up perfect for the volume rockers.
Maybe I've just adapted to a righties world....but the hox gives me no issues at all...

NP! Glad I could help!
Now when it comes to scrolling...I use my right hand on the right side...thumb under the bottom right corner, middle finger on top right, index finger used for screen interactions for where left hand won't reach...
The same time on the left side I have my index on top left and the rest resting on the back of the device and use my left thumb for scrolling and clicking what I can't reach I use my index from the right...or I'll take my left hand completely off and support it with my right thumb and middle finger and use my left index to scroll etc
Hope that was somewhat useful!
once I need to type a lot I'll switch to landscape usually which is a whole new ball game.

Relevant.
Getting back to the original purpose of this thread, I also have seen major battery life increases on CM10. I set 192MHz/1242MHz as my min/max processor speeds, and Ondemand as the CPU governor. With this setup I never get below 50% after a full day out without charging. Admittedly, I use my phone mostly for audio, so the screen isn't on as much as some other people. Even so, CM10 is a marked improvement over any Sense-based ROM. I don't know if I'll ever go back to any ROM that isn't AOSP based!

Hello Peeps,
Have any of you noticed that your power button is loose or wiggly?
I just noticed it on mine, my phone is only two weeks old and I just noticed this issue.
I am pretty bummed about it cause I just achieved root on it.
I suppose if I were to try to take it back, they would not exchange it because of it being rooted.
Any thoughts on this?
The power button is working just fine, I just do not like that it is so loose.

Ya I think it is a pretty common problem but as long as it does not fall out then you are fine it's just one of those "build quality" issues that Samsung seems to have on all of their phones... Gotta LOVE plastic...
Yeah its just a poorly designed button to begin with. More of it "hangs out" of the case in the back than in the front, which makes it easy to apply too much pressure to certain areas. I definitely see how snapping it off could be a very easy thing to do, so my best suggestion would be to get a case or something. If you're that worried about losing it, you could always ODIN your phone back to stock and take it back to Verizon.

Definitely normal. My brand new one had a loose power button, and the replacement I got for a different problem, also brand new, has a loose power button.
