[Q] Revoke device from google's account - General Questions and Answers

Hello,
I just sold my HTC HD2, and I did factory reset to the device before I sell it, but I would like to know how can I revoke it's access to my google's account? is there anyway to remove it's access or list it as unauthorized device in my google's account? so it won't be able to sync or anything with my account, I already changed my google's password, but I'm still wondering just in case.
Thank you in advance

A factory reset should already do that. After factory reset, during first boot ,don't set up your google id. That's it...plain and simple.

Thank you so much, and you sure 100%, there is no way, my old device connect with my google's account anymore?

Positive. A factory reset wipes all data. It won't be able to connect

There is also an unsync button in accounts if you want to change emails. Also when you do factory reset, it won't wipe all of SD card so you have to do it manually. Happens to all my phones

What is the unsync button? where can I find it?

[Q] Regarding factory wipe

Question, on my phone and my friends phone (both 4g slides) we have noticed that some things remain after doing a factory wipe/reset (both from clockwork and the bootloader).
His font changes seem static and don't get reset, and my Wireless settings stay static (my access points and keys are ALL still there after a reset).
My wireless keys stayed through a full wipe and rom flash too.
Has anyone else noticed odd things like this?
Format system and data partitions manually through CWM. Factory reset doesn't usually get them.
No, something else isn't getting cleared.
I did a complete wipe then manual format through CWM, then flashed the new .05 rom and it still connects to my secured access points.
Could it be possible that your google account is syncing it back onto the phone?

No, Google account does not sync that information. Sounds like a bad wipe. Tried flashing superwipe?

Hi. when you fill in for the first time the google account the sync of wireless etc is prechecked... but you can opt out.
Yes, Google DOES sync wireless info and passwords!

That's bull crap. Check your accounts and sync. No where does it day wifi data. Or anything along those lines. I've been flashing and wiping for a year, NEVER once does it auto connect.

Yeah, everytime i've factory reseted, I've had to re-do my wifi connections.

[Q] Cannot remove phone numbers from phone app with custom rom

I have a rooted Desire S running the VoidU S 1.1a rom (which is great by the way) but I have upgraded to a Sensation and I am giving the Desire S to my dad.
I want to get rid of all of my phone numbers that are in the standard phone app (ie when you press the phone button and the list pops up behind the dialler) but I can't seem to do it.
I started with deleting everything from the contacts app, and then cleared the cache via Application Management, then cleared the cache in CWM, still no luck. Then I did a full wipe and re-installed the rom but the numbers are still there. I have read elsewhere on this forum that you need to have the stock recovery in order to do a full factory reset, is that true?
Any ideas? How risky is it to restore the factory recovery? My dad really does not want to go through all of my phone numbers in order to make a call!!
go to
settings-->application-->manage applications-->all-->contacts storage-->clear data
also remove your gmail account to not re-sync..

I don't believe that its possible to remove your google account as this asks you to perform a full factory re-set.

if he untick contacts sync from google account and clear contacts storage?
Thanks guys, in the end I cleared the data in App Mgmt from every app to do with contacts, people, phone etc and that worked. Clearing just one app wasn't enough, I had to do all of them....
Funny thing though, now I have the numbers that I do want in both the dialler app and the people app, when a new text message comes in from someone that is in the contacts/dialler already, it only shows the number and not the name...hmmm...

Google Account failed password?

So i recently had to change my Google account password and upon doing so, obviously the account was removed or had to be signed into again on my phone. Long story short, after doing a reset and such, my Charge tells me I have the wrong password again and again. I can log in everywhere else except my phone. Any ideas as to why this would be?
My guess is that ur old password is still saved in the phones mem, maybe even the sd card. Have u wiped data/factory reset yet? If u have, then maybe u need to odin back to stock.

Funny thing is, it's completely stock. This is a replacement phone. I did do a wipe/factory reset though.
Have you tried logging in through the browser on the phone rather than the app screen?
Are you using a keyboard like SwiftkeyX, which has the nasty habit of appending a space at the end of the text string?
No downloaded keyboards, nothing. I am unable to even add my google account to my phone at this moment.

Well, what I would do is go here: http://www.google.com/intl/en/contact/ ....
There look for support for your Google account, and if nothing than you need to contact them ...

Previous owners name show up in my sent MMS pictures

Hi there
I've recently bought a second hand Pixel.
It should be factory reset and I am listed as "administrator" in the user accounts menu. -So I should be covered on this one, right?
Well, to the "issue"..
When I send a photo to someone and I afterwards click on that sent photo in the Android Messages app, the previous owners name is at the top left in the black bar next to the back-arrow.
Nowhere else in the entire phone is the previous owners name present.
Anyone hassle an educated guess for what the heck is going on?

Not sure, but try uninstalling updates and clearing data for Android Messages app.
Maybe it was not factory reset. You remember setting up the phone from scratch?

All messages are saved if you backup your information.
You might have to factory reset (you never did that, right?) so backup is a good idea anyway.

Ok.
Im not shure what previous owner did. But I thought it was ok, because I have status as administrator.

Yeah, well, if user data remains it was NOT factory reset, whether you are admin...
Why I asked if YOU set up the phone...like welcome screen as if it had never booted/ WAS reset

I could be wrong but if the previous owner didn't factory reset it and it was done now, I would think that would create FRP issues and open up another can of worms. If it hasn't been reset, be sure to remove the account the phone is using before resetting it. Otherwise FRP would kick in. No?

Yes that is possible,
If the account and security are removed (securely, and supposedly before the purchase) and a new one entered (securely after the purchase), then FRP shouldn't use the old credential.
But this suggestion is very good of making sure before a factory reset in all the account and security settings that the new, desired credential is in place.
Maybe the wipe of Android Messages will be enough.
Maybe it is a setting in AM?

Well, it was just something I thought of. I'm not really sure how it all works though as I've never had to deal with it (I've always kept my old phones). I just thought I'd mention it in case the original owner didn't reset it. FRP is something that doesn't always get thought about so I thought I should mention it, just in case. It would be a shame for someone to reset the phone and then be locked out.

Hi
I don't think so, because it booted up on normal "desktop" start screen when I turned it on upon receiving.
However, there was not a Google account linked in the phones settings, so I just registered mine and changed the administrators username from previous owners to mine.
I've tried turning OEM lock in developers settings on and off and sequently rebooting the device. -No problems whatsoever.

Maybe you changed username of admin account, but not the first and last name of admin.
At any rate, OEM lock setting is for enabling fastboot unlock command, and nothing to do with the name.
Did you try backing up sms and clearing data from Android Messages?

Yes, just did. -Didn't work.
Cool story. Never even noticed the name on a MMS.
Factory reset FTW. Won't take you long to be back up and running. I prefer "SMS backup and restore" as the stock backup doesn't include MMS media.

Forgot PIN and phone in an airplane mode

Hi,
My customer just bought brand new Samsung S20. He has receipt for it, original box and access to associated Google account. After first setup, login to Google and setting up the pin he performed an Android update which triggered reboot and asked for pin which he has forgotten.
Moreover the phone is in airplane mode. After login to Google on PC, "find my phone" shows the Samsung device as offline so as far as I understand password recovery won't work in this case?
Is there any way to turn on WiFi or cellular data to perform pin/password recovery from associated Google account?
Unfortunately adb is also disabled.
Fun isn't it?
And soooo secure.
He better start, again... from the beginning
Factory reset from the boot menu.
If he forgot his Goggle account password he'll need to recover that first.
OK, never mind. We don't need to keep the data, so after factory reset the phone will let to connect WiFi and login by Google account

Thanks for the answer I was just writing about factory reset. I just realised how simple that was and why I didn't think about it for the last hour

It's quit a useless pain... the new Android, learn chilling new forms of panic and dispare.
The 72 hour lockout is a really nice touch.
