[Q] Re-Flash HTC HD7 - Windows Phone 7 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I'm trying to roll back my HTC-HD7 back to the original WP7 and go do all the updates again as I'm getting loads of issues with a white box flashing on the lock screen among other things and wanted to reset my phone. (Already done hard reset dose not work)
now I have got: -
RUU_Schubert_O2_UK_1.19.206.01_Radio_5.52.09.16_22.30.50.09U_by_ansar
which yes is very old but when I try to do the update like I used to it gets to 1% then fails?
Have Microsoft change some thing in the boot loaders to stop phones getting re-flashed?
P.S I have tried to look for some thing on how to do this but there is allot of junk to look at on this site

You need a stock ROM ("by_anser" probably means it's customized). There's a list of them for the HD7 on the XDA-Devs Wiki (link at the top of the screen, go to the HD7 page and then to Shipped ROMs).

I have in the past reset the phone with this version and it updates with Zune so it is a stock ROM just when I use it now it gets to 1% and Fails?
but I have a look at some others?

Downloaded a differnt version?
But still getting the following issue?
ERROR [266] : FLASH WRITE
FLASH write error happened. Please check your PDA Phone

5.xx ROMs change Device ID, which means you cannot go back to older [read: pre-5.xx] ROMs.
you have three options to downgrade:
1. jtag (a popular one is riffbox; google it)
2. goldcard method (multiple threads explaining this)
3. goldcard-style method (same as goldcard method, just without the goldcard)

First choice for branded devices is the original ROM, so you are lucky to get it and it should work. The Vodafone V1415 is device where no official ROMs are available and there you have to use the "Gold Card" method (search for this in the Forum and Wiki). This will put a special key in the boot sector of a (non SDHC) card (devicetype and card-serial dependent) which allows you to load ANY ROM from the bootloader.

if u get it to work then tell me how u did that... i really want to know!!!
i got fed up when that happened to me.
when the htc logo continues, it means u phone is hanged. and even the time clock of the cpu stops. after 5-10 minutes u can also see the htc logo flickering a bit!!!
if u have the same problem then u will have to give your phone to the service center.

simple
you load bootloader (via camera button method)
next you start flasher from your PC and upload ROM
trick is to find the right ROM because when your phone is locked you can use only dedicated one which is compatible with your operator
otherwise there is a magic described above
once again EOT

i tried the method u stated. i always prefer this one over any other. but it did'nt work for me. now its the headache of service centre guys since it is still in warranty!!!
Did you lookup the Gold Card method? This WILL work - as this is exactly what the service will do. I am sure this is not a warranty case, but you maybe lucky.

yeah, i too think was not a warranty case but i gave a try and yes, i got lucky since this was the 6th time i gave my phone for a warranty claim.
OK, tired of trying new ROMs now? To be in the safe side you need to understand how things work:
1.) SIM-Lock (your phone is locked to a network/SIM Card) will stay even after ROM change. There are services to Unlock your phone and allow any SIM card. This has nothing to do with "Application Unlock".
2.) Application Un-Lock is the method to allow any program to run on your device. This is achieved by changing security settings in the registry of the WM operating system. Only privileged applications may do this - mostly "SDA Application Unlock" can do the job.
3.) Some devices are "branded" and the device carries a "Vendor ID" so that only ROMs can be put on the device where the ROM "Vendor ID" matches that of the device. Examples are: Orange E650, Vodafone VDA-V or V1415. This has nothing to do with SIM-Lock, even though many branded devices are SIM-locked as well (not VDA-V which I have one). The check for the Vendor-ID can be skipped either using a universal loader "USPL" (which is usually part of the cooked ROM distributions and called from a batchfile) or the "GoldCard method" which is your last resort and will ALWAYS work.
BTW: GoldCard is the slang for a special prepared microSD or miniSD card, not a SIM card! And it is NOT the process of loading a ROM from these cards - which is an alternate method of loading a ROM, e.g. if the Windows/USB is not an option.

does gold card method works with 4gb micro sdhc?
No it will not work with a SDHC card. The device in boot-loader moder seems not to be able to access the SDHC card. A normal (up to 2GB) card will work however - any size will do it as only the bootsector will get some bytes written to. The card remains usable - you can even take a card with data on it - writing the data to it to make it a "GoldCard" will not harm the data stored on it.
Mind that the key written is specific for a certain device-type, e.g. the Vox. It will work in any Vox then, however.

Guide for DFT - HSPL / RSPL Tool 4 Spark/ Trophy

Summary:
Guide By : unknown797
Official Thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1195647
What it does is that it will change your standard SPL (Red, blue, geen and white usb) logo to a RSPL or HSPL.
• RSPL loads on on ram only so upon switching off you lose it and it will return to the original SPL (OSPL).
• HSPL replaces your SPL into the ROM.
Blue = Optional steps or notes
Green = my comments
Purple = woo fun facts/news
Step Action
1. Power Off, then power on while holding volume down.
(Red, blue, geen and white usb) logo, have a quick look at the SPL to compare for Step 3 later.
2. Open the launch file with RSPL label, follow onscreen next and click next to Flash with RSPL (it will reboot your phone).
Note: I’ve got 3 options to select for the SPL versions, but they all revert back to the middle on so it doesn’t matter.
3. Once it is rebooted it will be in RSPL mode with the similar look to SPL, but you can see the numbers are different and labelled RSPL instead of SPL (shown on XDA).
Note: You can do an HSPL bit here if you like, just open the Install file instead of launch labelled HSPL, when its about to reboot hold down volume so you don’t have to manually power off and on again. You will notice it says HSPL now.
Extras: I’m using HSPL incase they patch the SPL bootloader in the near future. Nothing major really just stops the rom flashing software from upgrading.
4. Flash any Ansar or Release Roms from any country (I prefer Europe release as it has the latest radio version) without a signed_spl.ngb file.
Note: some firmware includes the spl into the rom, so you may want to edit it and remove that.
Extras: This part usually fails as it detects wrong vendor ID.
Attention: the DFS team has also released a Mango rom unlocked, but requires zune 4.8 to run and they modified the boot logo to DFS and changed the start page (annoying!), but its running smoothly… so far; I can’t use the caller ID display fix from advancedconfig tool (naturally that tool doesn’t work on mango either).
5. Bingo!
6. Optional - Install HTC connection setup xap and change your network provider to VF NZ so that you have the correct message centre details etc..

so, i have trophy spl version 1.22.2250 and i cant install the rspl, why?
its AT-A1 (mobilkom austria a1) branded.
This was extremely easy on my Spark.
Followed the instructions and within a minute or so I had HSPL.
Super work, thanks a lot!
Now let me try to get Mango on the device.

Sure.
First of all get DFT_XSPL_WP7FG2.rar from here.
Now get your phone into SPL Mode as described above.
Launch DFT_RSPL_WP7FG2_LAUNCH.exe select your SPL version and hit next.
After reboot, verify, that you are on Cotulla RSPL. Now you can launch the ROM Update utility. I used RUU_Spark_HTC_Europe_1.10.401.04_Radio_5.52.09.16_ 22.33a.50.10U_by_ansar from here

Actually, I did. The owner of the thread states that there is no working version for that specific SPL yet. That is why I was curious.
Anyway, the required version isn't available in the list.

Apparently it does.. At least it did work for me. Because I'm now using an HTC_Europe Rom w/o any branding. And I got the additional htc Theme colour which was not available before - so definately a new ROM..
for those with problematics spl versions, i had 1.22 so it was impossible to make it
but i found a solution:
go to this thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=924333
download and flash your correpondient version of the rom (it depends on the operator brand)
every rom on that topic has a inferior spl version so if you flash it, it will downgrade the spl version and you will be able to do the rspl/hspl process
regards
If there is a stock ROM available for you operator, that's the way to go. So for example the A1 users don't have luck if they have a bootloader higher than 1.20.xxxx
my phone is unlocked does not belong to any operator (buy it online, no carrier) which rom should I use?
please reply??

Don't exactly know what you mean, but you can flash any unbranded stock ROM without RSPL/HSPL. The only thing you need to find is the language of your choice.
For the official Mango update for unbranded Trophy look here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1265701
If you want to flash a cooked rom, you need RSPL/HSPL. Cooked ROMs for Trophy can be found in the Trophy Development section.
The choice of ROM is fully yours, what ROM suits your needs best?
BTW; please don't post the same question in multiple threads, and give the same bump of your question in those same threads.
Trophy with no USB connection on SPL
Hy,
I have a Trophy, and when I go in SPL mode, it doesn't appear anything in the lower side of the screen (serial or usb). Please HELP!
This is what appears:
PC40100 SS-BC (4K)
SPL-5.0.2250.1 (130781) MNG
MicroP (LED) 0x09
Touch A1 (v10,20)
SD SANDISK 7580Mb
Partition Info-v211v413
F400
The Trophy has a Vodafone branding although I bought it from O2.
So the problem is that I cannot connect my Trophy trough USB for RSPL or HSPL further.
Thank you very much for any help!

[Q] Help needed to get Mango. Reward inside :-)

So, I'm the (un)lucky owner of a Vodafone branded HTC Trophy. I installed the latest HTC update which landed me on SPL version 1.22.2250.
I figured I want to install this version of Mango since I'll be able to to the rest of the updates trough Zune.
I don't know if I'll be needing to unbrand this device or not, I only know that if I run the proper RUU tool against my RGB screen (boot loader?!) it comes out with error 266 and leaves my phone hanging. I then need to reboot my device by pulling out the battery.
I was fairly advanced with Android's ROM way, and by means are not a stupid person. I googled quite a lot and read through most topics in this sub forum but it doesn't make sense yet.
What I'll be needing: A foolproof way to get to the latest Mango version. I don't care whats in between and are willing to take moderate risk such as flashing HSPL. There are so many ways and terms here I simply don't have the time to figure it all out. Time is money and since I'll hopefully be sparing out a few hours with this way I offer the lucky winner of writing me a fool proof step of plans $10 on paypal.
Also, bare with me. English isn't my native language.

You can contact me in dutch and i might be able to help you out.
Though i have samsung device.
What version are you running? Did you try to upgrade to Mango beta? are you dev-unlocked?
If you are on NoDo and unlocked, make sure you install provxml deployer and run it before upgrading to mango.
Try installing the zune beta and all the files, than do the upgrade, now run the htc connection setup (this will execute some files which will fully unlock your device). After you did this, make sure to run provxmldeployer again, this will place the same files back, you will need these after the second update to mango b2.
This is what I did to get the same ROM.
I had the 1.22.2250 SPL as well, but then I thought to myself that I don't need useless vodafone apps on my phone, I just need OEM apps because they are more useful than a shortcut to vodafone 360.
So, here's what I did:
1. Go here and download the appropriate ROM for your Trophy. You must get 7004/7008 version. You should download the appropriate ROM that matches the characteristic value of your phone. The ROMs in this thread are all branded, but flashing this ROM will downgrade your OS version and SPL version to 1.09 or 1.10 so you can HSPL later.
After the ROM has been downloaded, extract the zip file somewhere easy to find (eg. desktop).
[Step 2 will erase everything on your phone]
2. Connect the phone by holding down volume down key and connect it via USB. Wait until appropriate drivers are installed. Flash the ROM you downloaded from step 1. This should take less than 10 minutes. After flashing, Trophy will restart and boot to normal. Turn it off. Your phone is still branded in this step.
3. After flashing, download DFT's RSPL/HSPL here and be sure to get the second version. Extract the files somewhere easy to find (eg. desktop). This tool will let you install customized ROMs/unbranded ROMs on your device. Therefore if you replace your SPL with HSPL, you will be able to install the unbranded Mango ROM.
4. Hold down volume down key on the Trophy, and connect it via USB. Trophy will go straight to bootloader state, and run the DFT_RSPL_WP7FG2_LAUNCH exe file . Select the nearest version of SPL shown on your Trophy, and click install. If Trophy reboots, flash was successful, if not, try again until you get RSPL.
5. After RSPL, do step 4 again, but this time, run DFT_HSPL_WP7FG2_LAUNCH and install HSPL, not OSPL. After HSPL, Trophy will reboot. If Trophy successfully boots to Windows Phone, then you have done it right.
7. Go here and download your ROM for Trophy which is RUU_Spark_S_HTC_Europe_4.06.401.00_5.69.09_RELEASE.exe. This is the unbranded ROM which will remove carrier (vodafone) apps.
8. Turn off Trophy and connect it by holding down volume down key and connect via USB so it goes straight to bootloader state, unzip the ROM downloaded from step 7 using winrar or winzip.
9. Open the extracted folder and delete SPL_signed.nbh as this will overwrite your current SPL and will brick your Trophy.
10. Run the rom update utility and happy flashing! Trophy should restart after flashing.
So there you have it. After setting up your Live account, you must go to the marketplace and download HTC Connection Setup and run it. This will configure your carrier settings (3G/HSDPA, MMS) to your phone since this Mango ROM is unbranded and does not carry and customization by your carrier (vodafone).
Cool. Now trying the method from downloaderintruder
Edit: Seems to be working. Flashing final Mango ROM now, will report back when running.
Edit2: Done!
Fantastic - thank you.

Resolved this by changing from a USB 3 port to a USB 2 port? Weird but it worked...
Do i need Y usb cable to do this? Because i`ve tried this with standard usb cable from htc and my Trophy stucked in "USB host mode" screen.
I don`t have that Y cable, and i was looking for solution to debrand phone without Y, and i`ve found this thread, wheres no word about Y cable but now i don`t know
--------------------------------------------------
Ive found solution:
Instead of pressing volume button and connecting it to usb, i`ve holded volume rocker down, and hit the on/off button, when tricolor screen appeared i`ve released volume button and THEN connected my phone to my PC via USB

This will configure your carrier settings (3G/HSDPA, MMS) to your phone since this Mango ROM is unbranded and does not carry and customization by your carrier (vodafone).

ijust do this. All ok!!
but i have a question. If i want to bo back to 7004/7008 version from Vodafone, do i have to delete again spl_signed??
Its the trophy unbranded totally??
Its because you say to install hpsl and then to delete sppl:signned, and i dont know if i have to delete spl_signned in all roms from this point.
thanks, sorry for my English, i speak spanish
Now the rgb screen says this:
pc40100 ss-bc (4k)

If you want to go back, you will need to get the 7004/7008 version of the ROM with 401 CV. Check out ansars ROM in the Trophy forum and download that. Go to the bootloader state, and flash it straight to your phone, this will downgrade from 7720 to 7004/7008 (unbranded).
To go back to branded, first you must HSPL your device after downgrading, then download the original ROM for your trophy and flash it. You don't have to delete spl_signed file, you only had to delete this in the mango rom because it will brick the device since the spl version from mango had a huge leap from spl1 to spl4.
Be aware though, some Trophy users who flashed ansars ROMs didn't get past 7008 to get the PreNodo/Nodo update, so you can't use your backup at this time. I'm still looking for a solution on this, but since I don't really like branded phones I'm all good with my Trophy.

Updates will still go through via Zune.
For the problem regarding how to go back to your backup, here's a theory, IF there will be mango ROMs for our trophies like there's Nodo, we can install that ROM and restore our backup via Zune. That is, IF there will be Mango roms for our trophies with matching CV's.
Now I have the error code c101b001 in the marketplace.
Do you know why?
thaks

[Q] Messed up bootloader on my trophy!

So I have been spying here on xda a few months now since I got my trophy off ebay. There are custom roms here that I wanted to try so I followed guides to RSPL and HSPL. So I HSPL'd my trophy and installed ansars unbranded trophy rom with 1.09 this worked and got my bootloader replaced by 1.09 instead of HSPL.
Then I had problems with the marketplace giving me errors so I had to revert back to my original rom which was DE so I flashed it straight to the phone without HSPL. Now the rom installed fine, only my bootloader now says:
ÇÊÀ-|Eï SS-BC (4K)
SPL-1.9.2250.0(109882)
MicroP(LED) 0x09
TOUCH A19v10,20)
What I believe is that ÇÊÀ-|Eï should say PC40100.
Now I cannot install the stock rom or any other rom, or even hspl as it gives out vender/model id error. I have tried goldcard with the trophy but it gets stuck at "checking".
Can anyone help me?
Willing to donate to the person who can help me.
The only fix I know of for that state is to install a stock bootloader update. You might be able to find one in the CAB list thread on the dev&hacking sub-forum, or you may just need to wait. I've only seen it reported once before, but an official bootloader update fixed it (of course, you'll need to downgrade the bootloader again).

[Q] HTC C110e HSPL Installation Issues

I have an HTC Radar C110e with Windows Phone OS 7.8. The phone is old enough now that I would like to replace the ROM with Dynamics_HD2O_Radar_2_21_Western & RUU_Radar_Radio_17.5006.08.27. I have been trying this for a while and finally thought I can’t be the only person scratching their head.
Phone Specs:
Phone purchased unlocked from expansys
MID: PI06100
SPL-4.6.175006.2(140733)
eMMC SMS 7376MB,FA31
TOUCH A1(F:80,ID:10,V20,B:AA)
Radio-17.5006.08.27
CRC BL CRC-0x4DDA09DA
Software: Windows Phone 7.5
OS version: 7.10.8862.144
Firmware revision number:1750.0602.40603.708
Hardware revision number:0002
Radio software version: 17.5006.08.27_17.08.50.06U
Radio Hardware Version:2.102.0.D4
Bootloader version: 4.6.175006.2(140733)
Chip SOC version: 1.7.5.0
I know that I will need to replace my SPL with a new HSPL before I can load the new Dynamics HD2O Radar ROM. So after looking around, I came upon DFT’s HSPL for HTC second generation devices; looks great! So I downloaded the tool and following the instructions, tried the ROMUpdate utility in the SPL205 folder 1st. The tools starts fine with progress bar on phone and laptop reaching 4%, and then I get an ERROR[294]:INVALID VENDOR ID. The instructions on the DFT site state that if your device has a different CID it will fail with Country ID error. If it fails continue with a GoldCard. Well this error is not the CID, but INVALID VENDOR ID. From reading up on this error, it seems that the vendor code is either wrong or not set on the device. The other option in the instructions was to try the HSPL installer. As the site stated that my MID was correct for Omega (“PI06***”) I suspected that this may now support the direct HSPL upgrade. I launched the DFT_HSPL_WP7SG1_INSTALL tool from the HSPL folder, and again everything seemed to be taking off fine; however no progress! I waited for over an hour, and it never left 0% progress. I disconnected the phone, restarted it, and its fine, but I’m back at square 1.
So where to from here:
Option 1: I have read somewhere that if I can revert my ROM to an older OEM version then the VENDOR ID error will be resolved, and I can then use the DFT HSPL Tool and then load the Dynamics HD2O Radar ROM. or is the fact that I cannot change the SPL going to prevent this?
Option 2: Do I create a Y-Cable and GoldCard and then try to get the DFT HSPL to load? As this was the fix for a CID error, is this likely to resolve the problem of the Vendor ID error?
Has anyone done this before on a Radar, can it be this hard? let's work together to document this for others!
