[Q] HTC C110e HSPL Installation Issues - General Questions and Answers

I have an HTC Radar C110e with Windows Phone OS 7.8. The phone is old enough now that I would like to replace the ROM with Dynamics_HD2O_Radar_2_21_Western & RUU_Radar_Radio_17.5006.08.27. I have been trying this for a while and finally thought I can’t be the only person scratching their head.
Phone Specs:
Phone purchased unlocked from expansys
MID: PI06100
SPL-4.6.175006.2(140733)
eMMC SMS 7376MB,FA31
TOUCH A1(F:80,ID:10,V20,B:AA)
Radio-17.5006.08.27
CRC BL CRC-0x4DDA09DA
Software: Windows Phone 7.5
OS version: 7.10.8862.144
Firmware revision number:1750.0602.40603.708
Hardware revision number:0002
Radio software version: 17.5006.08.27_17.08.50.06U
Radio Hardware Version:2.102.0.D4
Bootloader version: 4.6.175006.2(140733)
Chip SOC version: 1.7.5.0
I know that I will need to replace my SPL with a new HSPL before I can load the new Dynamics HD2O Radar ROM. So after looking around, I came upon DFT’s HSPL for HTC second generation devices; looks great! So I downloaded the tool and following the instructions, tried the ROMUpdate utility in the SPL205 folder 1st. The tools starts fine with progress bar on phone and laptop reaching 4%, and then I get an ERROR[294]:INVALID VENDOR ID. The instructions on the DFT site state that if your device has a different CID it will fail with Country ID error. If it fails continue with a GoldCard. Well this error is not the CID, but INVALID VENDOR ID. From reading up on this error, it seems that the vendor code is either wrong or not set on the device. The other option in the instructions was to try the HSPL installer. As the site stated that my MID was correct for Omega (“PI06***”) I suspected that this may now support the direct HSPL upgrade. I launched the DFT_HSPL_WP7SG1_INSTALL tool from the HSPL folder, and again everything seemed to be taking off fine; however no progress! I waited for over an hour, and it never left 0% progress. I disconnected the phone, restarted it, and its fine, but I’m back at square 1.
So where to from here:
Option 1: I have read somewhere that if I can revert my ROM to an older OEM version then the VENDOR ID error will be resolved, and I can then use the DFT HSPL Tool and then load the Dynamics HD2O Radar ROM. or is the fact that I cannot change the SPL going to prevent this?
Option 2: Do I create a Y-Cable and GoldCard and then try to get the DFT HSPL to load? As this was the fix for a CID error, is this likely to resolve the problem of the Vendor ID error?
Has anyone done this before on a Radar, can it be this hard? let's work together to document this for others!

Impossible upgrading

Hi, I have just received an at&t tilt 8025 sim unlocked, I am trying to upgrade to original htc rom, I have installed hardspl and the process start but always stopped with error in 0% upgrading step, no way
any suggestions?
Do you get a error code? If yes what error code.
yes, error 262
Ok, I have more information, if the rom I want to upgrade is base rom only NO problem, if rom contains radio or I try to flash a radio version I never gets 100%
A clue, the tilt is an ebay UNLOCKED at&T , may be the unluck is the cause of radio upgrade probles??
try to change the other datacable and do it again
change datacable??? I don.,t understant what you say, there is only a datacable for tilt isn,t ?
Error Codes 26x are generally related to USB communication errors. That is why it was suggested that you try a different cable. (Or a different USB port)
I would also try using a different PC, if possible. You can also try flashing via MicroSD card, if you have one. Do a search for MicroSD flashing on the Kaiser Upgrading forum, there is a very detailed step by step process listed on how to do this.
Treo's are gayy..
and that relates how exactly?

Blackstone dutty 2.1 rom update help

Hi all, this is my first post. Must admid i`m new to win mobile, but after owning a nokia n96 i had to abandon nokia.
My phone is an htc touch hd, it is running orange custom firmware (well, win 6.1 with orange rubbish all over it), i`ve been trying to remove this and came accross the cooked roms and this is where i have got a problem. I have downloaded duttys 2.1 extreme and have been trying to install it. When it start it the phone and pc stay at 0% and after a few minutes i get an error code "[262] UPDATE ERROR, when i click view document it open word and i have this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=435110 , I have went to this page and tried putting the 2 zip files in the 2.1 extreme folder and loading the update from them but am still having the same problem.
I just wondering is anybody knows what i can do to get this updated? Also is this the best rom available? i looked at the 2.2 but it seemed full of bugs.
Thanks in advance
...........bump
have you hardspl'd the device
What is a hardspl'd? is this the hard reset button? I haven`t anyway
cheers
hhmmmm
well your half way there anyway. but remember the warranty may be voided, orange never really check but if your the cautious type id not continue

What is HSPL
* Hard-SPL a.k.a. HSPL is required if you want to flash any ROM other than the one intended for your device by your device's carrier (which can be a mobile phone operator or HTC themselves). Thus to avoid getting the "ERROR [294] : Invalid Vender ID" message whilst falshing
* Why do you need Hard-SPL: the stock (shipped) SPL that comes with your device will only accept NBH files signed by HTC. (This signature is a standard RSA signature, with 2048-bit long strong encryption.) Without worrying about the technical details - this means that if you change even one byte in the NBH file, it will break the signature and it will not flash via the stock SPL. This is not a checksum, it is a much stronger protection, and you cannot bruteforce bytes to fit the signature.
now we know what HSPL is you need to read this wiki page HERE
more info and help HERE
then you can do on the flash remember you nee yto put the roms NBH file into the sale folder as the custom RUU
Cheers for this mate, Its a good job im off work tomorrow, Gonna give it a go now. I`ll let you know how i get on. Can you remommend any roms?
Thanks for your help

[Q] Help needed to get Mango. Reward inside :-)

So, I'm the (un)lucky owner of a Vodafone branded HTC Trophy. I installed the latest HTC update which landed me on SPL version 1.22.2250.
I figured I want to install this version of Mango since I'll be able to to the rest of the updates trough Zune.
I don't know if I'll be needing to unbrand this device or not, I only know that if I run the proper RUU tool against my RGB screen (boot loader?!) it comes out with error 266 and leaves my phone hanging. I then need to reboot my device by pulling out the battery.
I was fairly advanced with Android's ROM way, and by means are not a stupid person. I googled quite a lot and read through most topics in this sub forum but it doesn't make sense yet.
What I'll be needing: A foolproof way to get to the latest Mango version. I don't care whats in between and are willing to take moderate risk such as flashing HSPL. There are so many ways and terms here I simply don't have the time to figure it all out. Time is money and since I'll hopefully be sparing out a few hours with this way I offer the lucky winner of writing me a fool proof step of plans $10 on paypal.
Also, bare with me. English isn't my native language.

You can contact me in dutch and i might be able to help you out.
Though i have samsung device.
What version are you running? Did you try to upgrade to Mango beta? are you dev-unlocked?
If you are on NoDo and unlocked, make sure you install provxml deployer and run it before upgrading to mango.
Try installing the zune beta and all the files, than do the upgrade, now run the htc connection setup (this will execute some files which will fully unlock your device). After you did this, make sure to run provxmldeployer again, this will place the same files back, you will need these after the second update to mango b2.
This is what I did to get the same ROM.
I had the 1.22.2250 SPL as well, but then I thought to myself that I don't need useless vodafone apps on my phone, I just need OEM apps because they are more useful than a shortcut to vodafone 360.
So, here's what I did:
1. Go here and download the appropriate ROM for your Trophy. You must get 7004/7008 version. You should download the appropriate ROM that matches the characteristic value of your phone. The ROMs in this thread are all branded, but flashing this ROM will downgrade your OS version and SPL version to 1.09 or 1.10 so you can HSPL later.
After the ROM has been downloaded, extract the zip file somewhere easy to find (eg. desktop).
[Step 2 will erase everything on your phone]
2. Connect the phone by holding down volume down key and connect it via USB. Wait until appropriate drivers are installed. Flash the ROM you downloaded from step 1. This should take less than 10 minutes. After flashing, Trophy will restart and boot to normal. Turn it off. Your phone is still branded in this step.
3. After flashing, download DFT's RSPL/HSPL here and be sure to get the second version. Extract the files somewhere easy to find (eg. desktop). This tool will let you install customized ROMs/unbranded ROMs on your device. Therefore if you replace your SPL with HSPL, you will be able to install the unbranded Mango ROM.
4. Hold down volume down key on the Trophy, and connect it via USB. Trophy will go straight to bootloader state, and run the DFT_RSPL_WP7FG2_LAUNCH exe file . Select the nearest version of SPL shown on your Trophy, and click install. If Trophy reboots, flash was successful, if not, try again until you get RSPL.
5. After RSPL, do step 4 again, but this time, run DFT_HSPL_WP7FG2_LAUNCH and install HSPL, not OSPL. After HSPL, Trophy will reboot. If Trophy successfully boots to Windows Phone, then you have done it right.
7. Go here and download your ROM for Trophy which is RUU_Spark_S_HTC_Europe_4.06.401.00_5.69.09_RELEASE.exe. This is the unbranded ROM which will remove carrier (vodafone) apps.
8. Turn off Trophy and connect it by holding down volume down key and connect via USB so it goes straight to bootloader state, unzip the ROM downloaded from step 7 using winrar or winzip.
9. Open the extracted folder and delete SPL_signed.nbh as this will overwrite your current SPL and will brick your Trophy.
10. Run the rom update utility and happy flashing! Trophy should restart after flashing.
So there you have it. After setting up your Live account, you must go to the marketplace and download HTC Connection Setup and run it. This will configure your carrier settings (3G/HSDPA, MMS) to your phone since this Mango ROM is unbranded and does not carry and customization by your carrier (vodafone).
Cool. Now trying the method from downloaderintruder
Edit: Seems to be working. Flashing final Mango ROM now, will report back when running.
Edit2: Done!
Fantastic - thank you.
I've been trying to do this for a week but to no success
Hi, I still get a ERROR 266 when flashing with the RUU_Spark_Vodafone_ELL_1.10.168.04_Radio_5.52.09.16_22.33a.50.10U_by_ansar ROM? Resolved this by changing from a USB 3 port to a USB 2 port? Weird but it worked...
Do i need Y usb cable to do this? Because i`ve tried this with standard usb cable from htc and my Trophy stucked in "USB host mode" screen.
I don`t have that Y cable, and i was looking for solution to debrand phone without Y, and i`ve found this thread, wheres no word about Y cable but now i don`t know
--------------------------------------------------
Ive found solution:
Instead of pressing volume button and connecting it to usb, i`ve holded volume rocker down, and hit the on/off button, when tricolor screen appeared i`ve released volume button and THEN connected my phone to my PC via USB

ijust do this. All ok!!
but i have a question. If i want to bo back to 7004/7008 version from Vodafone, do i have to delete again spl_signed??
Its the trophy unbranded totally??
Its because you say to install hpsl and then to delete sppl:signned, and i dont know if i have to delete spl_signned in all roms from this point.
thanks, sorry for my English, i speak spanish

If you want to go back, you will need to get the 7004/7008 version of the ROM with 401 CV. Check out ansars ROM in the Trophy forum and download that. Go to the bootloader state, and flash it straight to your phone, this will downgrade from 7720 to 7004/7008 (unbranded).
To go back to branded, first you must HSPL your device after downgrading, then download the original ROM for your trophy and flash it. You don't have to delete spl_signed file, you only had to delete this in the mango rom because it will brick the device since the spl version from mango had a huge leap from spl1 to spl4.
Be aware though, some Trophy users who flashed ansars ROMs didn't get past 7008 to get the PreNodo/Nodo update, so you can't use your backup at this time. I'm still looking for a solution on this, but since I don't really like branded phones I'm all good with my Trophy.

Updates will still go through via Zune.
For the problem regarding how to go back to your backup, here's a theory, IF there will be mango ROMs for our trophies like there's Nodo, we can install that ROM and restore our backup via Zune. That is, IF there will be Mango roms for our trophies with matching CV's.
Now I have the error code c101b001 in the marketplace.
Do you know why?

[Q] How to get DFT ROM on a locked HTC HD7 5.1xx firmware?

Hi these our are HTC HD7 SPecs
OS: 7.10.8107
Firmware:2250.21.51101.707
Used to be dev unlocked + interop lock by ansar's guide now
My phone locked itself out of the blue and the only advice i was given was to :
1)Get DFT rom on it
2)Find and flash a stock official rom dating back to nodo (WHich i can't find)
Im not very good with tech and hacks so can someone who is kind enough to instruct me on how to flash a DFT rom on my phone please
I don't know what SPL or if my phone has spl etc.
I don't even understand the requirements :
IMPORTANT NOTES
1. Before doing any operations be sure you have battery level more than 50%!
Sometimes in SPL mode WP7F devices DO NOT charge. You may got a cold brick if it power down during SPL or RADIO update!
2. Stock RUU ROMs have two NBH inside, SPL_Signed and RUU_Signed.
So it's not possible directly flash stock ROM, you need extract files and remove SPL_Signed.nbh at least.
3. Rememeber if you have HSPL and you flashing stock RUU_Signed.nbh you lost HSPL!
4. Supported OS: Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7.

[Q] Downgrading / Interop Unlock for HD7 / Edit: Custom ROMs How-to Help

Hi,
I'm attempting to Interop Unlock my HTC HD7.
I've just run a restore in Zune, but it appears that the earliest restore gives me:
OS version: 7.10.7720.68
Firmware revision number: 2250.21.51002.728
Hardware revision number: 0002
Radio software version: 5.71.09.02a_22.51.50.21U
Radio hardware version: A.102.0.D4
Bootloader version: 5.10.2250.0(132968)
Chip SOC version: 2.2.5.0
I understand that if I have a Firmware revision number of 5xxxx, I cannot run the Interop Unlock as seen in this thread.
From what I see, it is possible for me to download a Stock ROM, in my case, this, and run that to downgrade my Firmware revision number.
I would just like to clarify before I start this process. Is the above information correct, and to run the Stock ROM, do I simply enter Bootloader Mode, start the .exe as downloaded from the thread, and let it run (seems too simple to me)?
Also, should I manage to get Interop Unlock working on a Firmware revision number of 4xxxx, would the Interop Unlock stick once I update the phone (is normal Zune update even possible after that)?
Thanks.
Be very careful. Since you have bootloader 5.xx
Pretty sure downgrading like that will brick your device. You have to use a y-cable. Last I heard, ive had my hd7 unlocked for a while not sure of newer ways.
Look for the downgrading spl thread in hd7 development. I think that's where it is.
After downgrade spl. I would just install hard-spl and flash a custom rom. Easier.
Sent from my HD7 T9292 using XDA Windows Phone 7 App
Thanks for the reply. Didn't know about the Bootloader thing, fortunately I didn't go ahead with it yet.
I was under the impression that if the ROM is the official ROM for my region (SEA, Singapore, 728), I wouldn't require any modifications to the SPL.
I don't want to mess with the SPL or the bootloader though, I've bricked enough devices (not WP7) to have a phobia of such things. Guess I'll have to wait for a breakthrough in unlocking, unless someone has any other methods.
If you want to be absolutely safe, GoldCard (which what @reeg420 meant when mentioning Y-cable) is the most reliable method.
However, I *think* you can actually downgrade to an older stock ROM just fine even with SPL 5.x. It just won't downgrade the SPL itself the way it normally would. You can't use RSPL on SPL 4.x or higher, which is why being able to downgrade the SPL is sometimes important (people who want to use custom ROMs need RSPL).
I suggest you do a bit more searching before deciding. I have not tried messing with SPL 5.x at all; I briefly had 4.x on my phone and promptly downgraded it to 3.1 again.
Thanks. I decided to go ahead with it, but got an error: "ERROR 226 (Flash Write - FLASH write error happened. Please check your PDA Phone)", which rebooted my phone. Phone appears to be okay though, not bricked.
Looks like I'll probably need to use a GoldCard?
Edit: So it appears that the earliest ROM that allows me to HSPL is this, which has the Bootloader 1.54.2250.0(112696). Could someone check my following steps and verify that I'm correct?
1. Get Y-Cable, USB Gender Changer, MicroSD+Card Reader
2. Get GoldCard Tool
3. Get GoldCard IMG, from this thread? "My custom goldcard.img"
4. Format MicroSD to FAT32
5. Place RUU_signed.nbh extracted from the aforementioned ROM with Bootloader 1.54.2250.0(112696), renamed to SCHUIMG.nbh
6. Run GoldCard Tool, ignore CID box, use GoldCard IMG, Patch MMC
7. Connect GoldCard, Y-Cable, phone, etc, etc, etc, patch phone
8. Get DFT's WP7FG3 from this thread
9. Install HSPL (or should I get RSPL? What is the difference?)
10. Find ROM of my choice (what do you recommend?)
11. Run selected ROM's ROMUpdateUtility.exe, flash device to new Custom ROM
Q1: What happens if the GoldCard process fails?
Q2: Is there any cons as to having an outdated Bootloader?
Q3: Am I able to upgrade my device with Official ROMs in the future after performing this, or must I simply use Custom ROMs from here?
Q4: Will having a Custom ROM affect my connectivity with my network?
