Will there be anyway to purchase this in the UK the XL with s4
Maybe, but there's only two possible ways:
1. You import it from a country that gets the One XL, but LTE won't work and you have to ensure that the WCDMA bands will work with your carrier.
2. A carrier in the UK gets the One XL with their LTE bands, and you get the phone that way.

1. WCDMA bands in the UK use 900 MHz with all carriers mainly focused on 2100 MHz, with which the One X on AT&T utilises.
2. LTE would probably come as 800 MHz (common in EU + Three's calling for their share) or 1800 MHz (If EE wins the Ofcom bid).
Hope this answers your question!

Spoke to an orange rep a few weeks ago and the one XL is on their system. They will have this version as orange will be rolling out 4G at the end of the year. That surprised me but it is true. Not sure when it will be released but orange will release the one x on April 5th.

Sure that it's on Orange UK's system? I wouldn't hold my breath for an LTE rollout too soon.

According to the rep the rollout will begin at the end of the year. It has also been widely reported in the press that Ofcom have given the go ahead for Orange to rollout 4G (which Vodafone and O2 are seriously <bleeped> about).
He didn't even know about these phones (had no idea about the One X until I had called up). He was just reading through what he had on his system. Odds are it won't be available until nearer rollout, but they are already doing work on the masts (in conjunction with work on the T-Mobile masts).
It is surprisingly (and I say this as an Orange customer who only hangs with them to get good upgrade deals) credible and I think it will happen.

If true, that is great news
I was thinking of importing the One XL from the states, but if we get an 1800MHz 4G version before the end of the year on EE, then I will be a happy boy indeed

Two months on, has anyone heard any more about the One XL for the UK? I see Germany is supposed to be launching this month.
it would be nice. anyone heard about tegra+ which will have lte?
I know that the HTC One XL works fine in UK because I brought over my Telstra One XL last week and plugged in an O2 sim card and it just works
Well, I had to enter the APN details for O2 but 3G is rocking now.

guys could you please update me on the subject
i need to clarify the fact that there are two versions of sensation in north america
1) 900/1700/2100 MHz (tmobile)
2) 850/900/1800/1900 MHz (att)
because that would explain the price gap between two of them (~200$) as the first one is useless in rest of the world/europe and thus lacks export demand........
as far as i know there is no sensation for at&t at the moment. Maybe your thinking of the Bell version in Canada? Also the price should be the same except maybe the t-mobile one is the price after the 2 year contract subsidy.
not sure which one is it but it is very clear on ebay that prices on second version are higher
....
just need some guru to confirm the fact that there are two versions for UMTS band 4 and 5 ...
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/UMTS_frequency_bands
the outcome is probably lack of 3g speed data transfers in europe with us tmobile version of the phone...
Yes, the T-mobile version is umts band 4 and the Bell wireless one is umts band 5. Gut if your using it in Europe why don't you just get the Europe version of the HTC sensation?
i am just asking to make sure...

Yes, the Rogers and AT&T units are effectively the same, using the same frequencies.
The Rogers/AT&T versions will have 16GB internal storage.

the phone is set to be release april 20th, according to mobilesyrup
Is this really the HTC One XL though?
or the X?
No where on the Roger's site does it say it supports LTE, and I assume that if it had LTE it would be marketing that.
If that's the case, wouldn't it just be the HTC One X with the quad core Terga 3 instead of the new dual-core S4 Snapdragon processor?
**** Edit
Okay did some more research...
Looks like Redboards mention that they're bringing in new LTE devices, and it includes the HTC One X on that list.
Since Rogers uses AWS as their LTE network, it makes sense they're bringing in the AT&T version of the HTC One X (which is essentially the International version of HTC One XL but different LTE band)...
I guess it's the Snapdragon processor then... now then it makes me wonder, what's the battery life going to be compared to the international version of the HTC One X, which I hear isn't good at all...
I know the 3G bands are the same, but my question is... Are the LTE bands compatible between Rogers and ATT?
HTC One X dummy phones are now on display in Rogers stores in Canada.
Does the XL version support cdma 2000 and gsm ?
does anyone know whether there will be physical rogers branding on the XL?

This has been true with 2G and 3G, however Telus, Bell and Rogers are using their Advanced Wireless Services (AWS) spectrum for LTE but plan to move to into the 700 MHz bands once Canadian regulators begin auctioning it off next year.
So right now as it stands, AT&T is using 700MHz for LTE and Rogers is using 1700/2100/2600MHz for their LTE.

Red: But from the wikipedia page, it says ATT is Band 4 as Rogers, so I am guessing ATT is 700/1700/2100, while Rogers is 1700/2100/2600?
Which means that most probably Rogers XL will support bands 1700/2100 which will work for ATT?
Thanks a lot to both of you!
Don't know how true it is, but I read that the One X is coming to Rogers, meaning no LTE. Not the One XL which has LTE for ATT.

AT&T just has band 4, which is 700. They do have a few licenses in remote areas for 1700/2100. WHat it looks like to me, from the sources I posted earlier, Rogers is only using 1700/2100 and just recently 2600. They do hope to get 700 next year once it goes on sale.
I guess the 1700/2100 would be comparable between both.
Ahh, all the mistakes ...
First, the Rogers and AT&T units are effectively the same. They use the same bands, which is 700/1700/2100 for LTE. Yes, the 700 band is not yet in use in Canada, but the phone will be capable of using it. Here's a cut & paste from Rogers site:
HTC One X features a large 4.7” Super LCD display with brilliant HD 720p resolution. Now the same clarity and vivid colour you expect from an HDTV can be found on your smartphone. You’ll be glad you have this amazing clear picture as you browse the web, stream HD video, and play the latest games over Rogers blazingly fast LTE network with download speeds up to 75Mbps.
Here's another cut & paste from HTC's site in Canada referring to the Rogers unit:
LTE CAT3: 700/AWS
WCDMA: 2100/1900/AWS/850
EDGE: 850/900/1800/1900
Two, it appears that Rogers is calling it the ONE X even though it's the same as the ONE XL. I don't think Rogers wants the "L" in their advertising, EVEN THOUGH IT WILL BE FULLY CAPABLE OF LTE.
Three, the Rogers unit will be white. Whether they get the grey version remains to be seen.
Four, oh, sorry, there is no four.
Five, hmm, there isn't a five, either.
Six, okay, if you're still reading ... STOP, and move on.
Seven, Bye!

It's the One XL, but since we're in North America, it's just branded as the One X here. Rest assured, it's definitely the dual-core Snapdragon S4 model with LTE and 16GB of RAM.
Although all this information's available on the internet, I've got a couple friends who work in the Marketing and Mobile Device Management departments at Rogers, and they've confirmed this.

There's a ton of posts on the One X forum where people got it working using EDGE for data. Folks on this forum are trying to get the XL working for 3G data on Wind. If they do, it'll work on T-Mobile U.S. also.
The AT&T model does not have the correct bands to work on 3G/4G TMo. All you will get is Edge.

There's a huge conversation going on about what's published and what the radio's capable of. There's a hack for the G-Note that folks are going to try and make work on the One X (assuming the h/w supports the bands). With the hack, the G-Note lost a bunch of signal strength and battery life so it's far from perfect.

Hardware-wise it has.
If you go to HTC USA website you see that it does. The Tegra 3 based international version doesn't, but Rogers/AT&T version does. There is another thread where someone purchased the Rogers version and tried to use it on WIND (which uses the same band as tmobile usa), and got no data (phone is unlocked, but no edge no 3G). If the problem is due to the lack of WIND/tmobile 3G bands, he would have at least get EDGE data. He contacted HTC Canada and HTC verified that the phone hardware indeed support those band, and the issue has to do with Rogers implementation of the software.
The same happened with AT&T Galaxy Note. It supports tmobile 3G band, but was disabled in software. People here are able to open up those bands by flashing new radio on it.
It is still not know whether the AT&T One X has T-Mobile 3G bands disabled in software or not, and if it does, whether it can be easily re-enabled. But the hardware support is there.
So if I buy the att one XL outright (and dont do nothing else) and pop in the tmobile micro sim will it work..meaning make phone calls and all? And it'll just get edge right?

Yes...most definitely. Once the AT&T version is officially released, you'll likely see numerous posts on how to unlock. There are some threads already starting if you search...
Here is an unlock site the says they can unlock the ONE X (AT&T Version) phone already. It costs in the neighborhood of $15, but that is a small price to pay to carrier unlock. If you live in a TMobile area that has reassigned their HSPA+ to the same 1900MHz Band AT&T uses it should be well worth being able to grab a tmobile sim for back up data or switching over completely. From what I have read, TMobile will be moving most of their markets HSPA+ to the 1900 MHz band in the not too distant future so this could be win win. I am going to give this a shot on May 4th when my phone is supposed to show up, I will post back with my success or failure.
Just a random thought that came into my head.
T-mobile is getting the One S, which also uses the S4. Given that the radio is integrated in the S4 chipset, and both the One X(AT&T) and One S are using the same SoC, they probably have the same capabilities with regards to the networks. In that case, it may "simply" be a matter of producing a modem driver with support for the T-mobile bands.
Disclaimer: This is all conjecture on my part, as I'm not entirely sure what is involved with cell phone radios and the more modern technologies.

Sorry, that's a negative.
There are several variations of the Snapdragon S4. Some with LTE, some without.
In this case, the One X LTE has the S4 MSM8960 with LTE. The One S has the S4 MSM8260A, without LTE.
What exactly is WCDMA AWS band? Because on the HTC website it says the One XL has that. I thought that is both bands for tmobile 4G.
I posted this in the wrong One X subforum initially, so here I go again.
If I were to buy an unlocked AT&T One X to use on T-Mobile, would I be able to pick up T-Mobile's LTE after they roll it out in 2013?
Is the only difference between the AT&T version of the phone and the international version that the AT&T version has a dual core chip and has LTE? Are there any other differences I should consider before purchasing?
What is the theoretical max speed of the HSPA+ of the chip on the AT&T phone? Is it the 42Mbps? (I live in a T-Mobile 42mbps market, so once they refarm to 1900MHz I'm wondering what I'll get at that time, before T-Mobile rolls out LTE)
Is there anything you think I should be aware of before I buy an unlocked AT&T One X to use on T-Mobile?
1. If the band frequencies match then yes it may be possible
2 and 3. Google it, you spent more time on this post then it would take to research it
4. You won't be able to root it unless you get luck with a one x with 1.85

Why not just wait? Or buy an International edition? Until they transition their bands you will only get EDGE on your phone. And then most likely it won't work on LTE when they roll it out even assuming you are in the first LTE rollout.
I was thinking of pulling the trigger on pre-order for a few reasons, but have not been able to get an answer of two questions!?
1 ) It says that the Verizon is coming soon, and list Band on the specs, if I pre-order will Verizon compatibility be a software upgrade or will it be a different model phone?
2 ) They talk about a developer edition with unlocked bootloader, is the the unlocked carrier version the same as the developer edition, or is that going to be a different phone all together?
Unfortunately I missed the press conference today and hoping and maybe the questions were answered. Also I figured the great knowledgeable people over here at XDA might know this answer. I have tried contacting HTC support, but it seems their chat system is down. I sent them a Facebook post with these questions, but and not optimistic that they will get back to me.
Anyways thanks,

1. Verizon is a software update. It will run on their LTE network. In theory at least. http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,2817,2493426,00.asp
2. I missed if there would be a developer edition. The presentation said the unlocked carrier version can have bootloader unlocked and not void the warranty. https://youtu.be/VZM17XI409M?t=888

HTC's website says the Verizon update will be released in November. I thought I read somewhere that it should be within a week of launch, but I can't remember where I saw it.

Appreciate all the info @pkinetics
My only concern is what the was said in the article. The phone will not have CDMA, so those spots in a building have happened to me oh so much, where I loose LTE and go to 3g. I can assume with this phone that would mean I would have no service. I really applaud HTC for making a move so bold. There are so many unlocked phones world wide for GSM that are really affordable. I just purchased a used phone to hold me out until I decided if I wanted a Nexus 5x or not, but I think that I am gonna go with this phone. I know that I may loose service sometimes, but usually when I am in a building I am on wifi and I use hangouts for all of my calls and sms.
Thanks again for the links

Nope, in the live stream they said the phone will not lose its warranty with opened bootloader and unlocked condition. And you can install custom roms without losing it too.

If things go as planned, CDMA on Verizon will be no longer...by end of 2016.
They intend to have their entire CDMA market covered with LTE by that time and will be phasing out legacy CDMA altogether.
VoLTE will BE their voice coverage.
Just throwing that out there...

I've seen blurbs about:
1. Shipping early November. I swear I heard in the presentation he said first week of November. I'm guessing this is basic colors.
2. Acid gold and deep garnet will ship late November.
3. Sprint has said they will have the A9 available Nov 6. AT&T has committed, but not set a date or price.
The USA need to start next week Monday in my opinion.

Most likely...
Well, HTC updated A9 Verizon info on their site.
Instead of "Verizon coming soon"
Now it says: "Verizon coming in December"
:silly:
Aloha Santod,
I couldn't help myself and ended up pulling the trigger on the unlocked version. I'm hoping that if what they say is true that this will run on Verizon. If the boot loader is accessible for unlocking and it works on Verizon I will be one step closer to your custom roms.I decided to sell my M9 because I was dissapointed with the camera and I'm currently using my m8 to pass the time. Hope you decide to do your magic on this unit.
Mahalo Bro.
so its a preorder now, when will this ship for gsm models? i may return my m9 and buy this instead.
I think the a9 is a beautiful device for its price
The Sprint version has all the bands necessary for project Fi. Wonder if that's in the cards as well.
