As long as you don't flash via Odin you will not increment the counter. Flashing via clockworkmod recovery is safe.
The first post of the thread where u downloaded from has instructions on how to flash. Please read it again.

I assume your phone is rooted and CWM installed.
1. Reboot in CWM ( turn off your phone , then press both volume keys and press power wait for samsung logo and relese all buttons)
2. go to backup and restore and buckaup your phone just in case go back
3. Wipe data/factory reset
4. Wipe cache partition
5. go to mount and storage and format system go back to main menu
6. install zip from sdcard
7. choose zip from sdcard
8. flash rom
10 . go back to to main menu and go to advance wipe there Dalvik Cache
11. back to main menu and reboot system now.
Wait for full reboot setup whatever you need to setup. If after rom and modem flash you will have no mobile data reflash rom again.
Good luck
6.

my phone is root on stock firmware.
cwm = clockworkmod?
i see cwm on the market.. which version i should use?

Download the rom manager app from the market. There is an option to flash cwm from there. Flash the one for the T-Mobile skyrocket.

You can flash/run various modems, kernels, and rom combinations depending on your particular wants and needs. If you want to stay close to stock, and take advantage of the symbiotic relationship between the UCLA3 rom, kernel, radio, then yes flash both UCLA3 files in cdshepherd's OP. (his ROM has the kernel included). I would suggest flashing modem (radio) first... reboot.. then boot back into CWM to flash rom. For me (and others) when the modem is flashed after rom, the data connection is lost. Follow the install instructions in the OP of the rom. Also, take a look at silver03wrx's Silver_Rom... it's stock UCLA3 but he'll be theming/deodexing it going forward. By the way, I found my HPSA+ speeds significantly increase using the combination of the UCLA3 kernel and modem. Good luck... hope this helped.

Thanks a lot DoctorQMM. That helps a lot . I think I want to stay as close to stock as possible right now while waiting for ICS. I just took the plunge and rooted my phone for the first time so I'm learning as much as I can via google/xda but sometimes I need reassurance just to make sure I don't brick the phone while doing something stupid.

Were you coming from a GB rom? Be sure your not mixing bootloaders...Not sure what that is but if you flash just the stock kernel in ODIN, with the phone off (pull the battery)and using the button combo try and get into DOWNLOAD mode. you might recover it....or flash the Bali kernel and then try going back to stock again.

yes i did try flashing a 2.3 ROM,but it didnt work properly, so i tried flashing the stock 2.1 again using ODIN...it got installed, but later all these things started happening.
i even flashed the 512 PIT file that came along with the stock 2.1, but still no use.
can u please post the link to the kernel you are talking about and also how should i flash the kernel?
thanks for your reply.
hey the problem is solved. i installed eugene's 2.2 leaked build and my phone is back to normal now...!!!!
thanks for all your help. i really appreciate it...!!!
Glad to hear you got it...just be careful to know which bootloaders you are on, GB or FROYO... unless you have alot of problems with a ROM its not really necessary to ever flash back to stock...I flash rom to rom without any issue as long as you:
1. wipe cache partition,
2. then wipe dalvik cache and then
3. factory reset all from CWM...
4.then flash whatever .zip ROM you like.
Flashing back to stock FROYO/ECLAIR from GB with an odin rom you must be sure the stock rom either includes both PBL and SBL or no bootloaders at all and then your good.

How can I get the LG froyo camera back?

Is it possible to take a certain app or program from a certain rom and like pull it from the rom and install it on a rooted phone? I just rooted my g2x and I want the old LG froyo camera back. Can it get pulled from another rom and installed on my phone without my flashing a new rom?[
Rooted but on gingerbread? Head on over to the development section and check out flak0's mod... Just download it and flash away... Wait! You have clockwork recovery right?

To answer your question
generally: yes. However, the LG camera is a special case and a lot of work has gone into making it work on gingerbread. It is possible but you'll need a specific mod over in the Development board.
Sent from my Nexus Prime using XDA Ultimate App
Yes on gingerbread and yes I have the clockwork recovery mod. I'm familiar with this stuff but not an expert, so sorry if these are noob questions but I checked out the thread and there is a bunch of links for the camera. Which one do I download? Im guessing the 3.0 one but Im not sure. And thats the actual cam that I am going to flash on my phone right? Not a new mod? and do I flash it on my phone just like the clockwork mod? I mean the same exact process? Or is this just like an .apk that I install? Can you please help me through the process of getting it on my phone?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1166531
Yeah the 3.0 is the one you want.
Just flash it in Clockwork the way you would flash any rom or kernel.
Before you flash though make sure to wipe cache and dalvik, and just to be safe fix permissions afterwards.
Just to make sure we're on the same page... You flashed clockwork via the NVflash method, right?
and then to get into clockwork to flash other stuff such as roms and this camera, you hold volume down and power from a powered off state, correct?

Yes I am on clockwork via NVflash. I'm still a bit confused. Sorry if I wasnt clear before. See, the clockwork thing was the only and first thing I flashed. I never flashed a rom or anything. I followed the instructions to root exactly how I saw them. Obviously one step was to flash the clockwork mod. Thats how far my experience with flashing goes. So Im not exactly sure what to do to flash the cam on my phone. I put it on my sd card Im assuming right? Then I do the hold volume down and power to get to whatever that screen is called? After that do I just go to "install zip from sdcard" and look for it? Thats what I assumed but I have no idea why I have to wipe cache or what dalvik is? and why/how do I fix permissions after?
Ok good ur on the right track having CWM installed via NVflash.
Two questions:
1) What version of clockwork are your running?
2) How did you achieve root if the only thing you've ever flashed is clockwork?
That will help me help you.
I think the CWM is 5.020. I got it from this link..
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1056847
then to root, all I did was download the root zip file found in this link..
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1255214
I followed those steps.
So then you have flashed something in CWM... you flashed the root zip, no?
The same way you flashed the root zip is the same way ur gonna flash the camera, I guess since its not a rom or kernel you don't need to bother wiping catch and fixing permissions:
-Boot into CWM with vol down and power
-select install zip from sd card
-find the camera 3.0 zip on ur sd card, install
-reboot, enjoy
For future reference, when ur ready to flash a custom rom or kernel, add 3 more steps to this process:
-Boot into CWM
-wipe catch partition (in the case that your going from a 2.3.3 rom to a CM7 based rom, this step changes to "wipe data/factory reset")
-advanced, wipe dalvik catch
-install zip from sd card
-find zip and install it
-advanced, fix permissions
Thank you! Just one last quick question. Let's say I flash the cam app. Then later down the road I wanna flash a new rom. Since I gotta wipe everything I would have to flash the cam back to use it on the new rom right?
Yes. However, don't try to flash the LG cam over a CM7-based rom, as it won't work. 2.3.3 based roms are ok.
So what are my options if I don't like the Gingerbread/cm7/AOSP camera?
it sucks big time
Which ROM is the best? I am seriously thinking about flashing a new rom on my phone. I never was but I guess flashing is like a drug, do it once and you'll wanna do it more. well atleast for me lol. I'm asking this because I was looking through the rom options in the other forum and I read something about needing to flash a kernel to overclock, then I saw a CM7 kernel with an overclock preset? Confused me a little. I can flash any rom I want and overclock myself right? Will all roms have a kernel that supports overclocking?
Can you give me the best rom/kernel to flash based what I'm looking for? I would like to overclock to atleast 1.2(Whats the highest I can do without it becoming dangerous for the phone?). I want no bloatware, can a rom free up internal memory? if so, I want that, faster then stock performance and better battery life. The LG camera or atleast a cam app that is better then stock android. I also want stablity in performance. Just for a reference, I was looking at Weapon rom, seems like the best to me, but then again I am new to the whole rom game. I know its based on personal taste, but I would like a little push in the right direction so I dont have to do trial and error with roms.
Thanks in advance for all your help.

that is near the same camera, likely the same developers.
Only thing is I think the steady feature was an option on all photo modes on Froyo LG, where here its a specific option itself. I don't remember well enough the old one.
Thanks a lot mate

[Q] Factory Data Reset and new question about recovery.

My SkyRocket is rooted and I have CWM installed. If I do a factory Data Reset from the "Privacy" menu within the phone will it set the phone back to its (out of the box) condition and will it take CWM off of the phone? The reason I am asking is because I have read several posts that claim you can not take an OTA update with CWM installed. I would like to have the option to remove CWM from the phone if it will not take the ICS OTA if / when it is finally released. If the factory data reset doesn't remove CWM from the phone, what is the best method of doing so (if it is needed for the OTA). Thank you.
Edit:
OK, I found a post in the "DEV" section with the original I727 factory ROM, which can be flashed via ODIN that should return the phone to its original "out of the box", unrooted, and CWM removed condition incase it is needed for the upcoming ICS update.
My question is: Is it possible to "just" reflash the "original factory recovery" part of the original ROM that came with the phone instead of reflashing the entire ROM, in effect, replacing CWM with the original recovery without disturbing the rest of the phone? This would basically be the reverse of how I installed CWM in the first place. Is this possible? Do the files (just the recovery part) for the 2.3.6 version of the original I727 (Skyrocket) exist in a flashable form file (TAR)? I don't care about the flash counter increasing because this isn't about returning the phone, it is about what might be needed to be done in preperation for an ICS OTA update. I figure these types of questions will only become more frequent the further into the first Quater of 2012 we get, so it will be an advantage to everyone to try and figure a few things out ahead of time. Thanks for any help in this matter.

no.
factory reset will not touch your recovery, your kernel or your /system
it wipes /data which stores your settings/configuration/user-installed apps
it also wipes /cache
it does NOT touch the actual system ROM, so your root will remain intact, and your CWM will still be there.
Bump...because I added new question(s) to the OP. Thanks.

This is the thread that has the I727 and the Rogers TARs.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1342348
These are supposed to bring the phones back to the "Out of the Box" condition if flashed through ODIN (if I read it correctly).
What I am looking for is a way (method) to just flash the recovery part of this back to the phone, basically replacing CWM with the phones original Recovery. A reversal of flashing CWM to replace the stock revovery in the first place.
I like CWM and plan to install it back to the phone after the ICS update, but from what I understand (and I know it isn't final until the ICS update is released and someone with CWM tries it), phones with CWM will not take OTA updates.
I am looking for a way to just reflash the "recovery" part so the rest of the phone will remain the same (keep root, data, and applications). A full stock TAR would erase all of that. I know programs like Titanium backup will back these things up and then replace them, but just replacing the "stock revovery" by itself would eliminate the need to do so and should be quicker and easier.
I am on 2.3.6 so it would need to be a working TAR that has the 2.3.6 stock recovery (only) for the AT&T SkyRocket. If it doesn't already exist, I would certainly be willing to "Donate" to a DEV that could create such a working TAR. I bet a 2.3.5 and Rogers version would be popular as well.
If this has been done or can be done please let me know. Thank you.
Read this thread... it has a link to the stock UCKJ2 recovery tar. Not sure if there is any difference between 2.3.5 recovery and 2.3.6 recovery, however. Hope this helps: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1360943
just download the ics rom and load it up when it comes out. it'll be the same rom but you'll still be rooted.
The stock recovery.tar here works on 2.3.5 and 2.3.6 in order to take an ota update you need to flash the stock recovery.tar with odin, and have all bloatware intact. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1360943

Thanks to both of you. This is exactly what I was looking for. I may just wait for the ICS ROM to surface and flash it, but if I want to take the OTA ICS update, this will be very helpful. As promised, I will go and "Donate" to the person that provided this TAR. Again. thanks.

[Q] Can I flash a custom ROM using Odin?

To start, I am a lower-than-a-beginner when it comes to this.
I was given a Samsung Galaxy SL i9003 that doesn't seem to function well and force closes all the time. I did a little reading and took a little action.
Here's what I have done so far:
- I tried to reset the phone to factory settings through the phone but to no avail. All apps, files and everything remained.
- I tried to reset the phone through recovery mode and wiped cache and data but got the same result.
- So I thought of rooting it and flashing a custom ROM.
- I flashed a stock ROM (not sure) I found which is a DDKP3 through Odin which went through OK but the phone is still malfunctioning.
- I rooted the phone through a rooting package I found for the DDKP3 through Odin which, again, went through OK.
- The apps are still force closing.
- I found a custom ROM which is a Paranoid Android JB ported for the Samsung Galaxy SL i9003 (not sure if it will work).
- Saved the ROM and the gapps zip file to the sdcard.
- Went to recovery mode.
- I am getting a message saying "E:/can't mount sdcard" when I tried to install from zip file.
- I was able to verify that the sdcard is working since I am able to read/write on it through the phone or PC.
Questions:
1. Am I doing the right thing?
2. What am I doing wrong?
3. How should I proceed?
4. Is it possible for me to flash the ROM through Odin since it is a zip file?
5. Do I even have the right ROM?
I am afraid that I might brick the phone.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

you just have to flash the roms from the base rooted GB with CWM/RED recovery then update GB ---> ICS----->JB----->KK and the CWM version updates itself and each KK rom has its own CWM version

So I'm guessing your going with CarbonRom's 6/15 nightly?

yep.. let see what 4.4.3 has to offer. Got a couple of days to play around.
For some devices flashing straight from stock just works. If you have red CWM it is a bad candidate and should use ICS as an intermediary. But you can be on GB and not have red CWM (rather blue or green I forget which), as was the case when I first flashed up. This may be your case as well.
Its not the version of the OS that matters, rather the spread of CWM versions. At least that is my understanding of the situation.

I think it's a matter of steps you take from GB to the next rom. For me:
1. GB stock with root.
2. Install sgs kernel flash and flash kernel with CWM (Synthesis).
3. Go into CWM and disable lagfix if it's enabled.
4. Update your flavor rom in recovery mode. NOTE: You will need to flash twice since 1st time give you a warning about partitions.
5. Once flashed it will auto reboot.... HERE you need to remove the battery to power off.. put battery back in and go into recovery mode and flash the rom again since the previous flash only install the new recovery.
6. Install Gapp.
7. CWM: wipe Cache Partition
8. CWM: Advanced > wipe Dalvik Cache
9. Reboot.

Because I have the Rogers variety, my step 2 uses a different product (the name escapes me but I use ODIN to flash it) and I was able to skip over step 3 (not sure if it was even an option). Overall I had red CWM, but the first time CWM was green (or blue). I think the difference in versions had to do that I installed ROM Manager the first time around and tried to install the i9000 (or something) CWM image. It wasn't successful, but it looks like it made some impact.
Out of curiousity, what colour was your CWM in Gingerbread? Synthesis may be using a newer (more forgiving) version.
red cwm 2.5.1.3 after the kernel flashed.
