I would personally run the ruu, to fully wipe and start from scratch. You never know what the previous owner did or did not do. If that doesn't help then I would say the phone does have an issue

If you're getting that message, then you are trying to install an RUU that is older than the version reported by the phone. Try using the RUU just recently released for GB:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1191959
Use the PD98IMG.zip linked at the bottom of the first post and try it exactly as you did above. If it still fails, then the device has likely been rooted in the past and used a DHD ROM with a later version number, then returned to S-ON. You'll need to re-root in this case. Use the Ace Hack Kit. It should still work even if your version is messed up since the first step is to "fake" and older version code:

Somebody was/is having the safemode problem
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1222646
Gene suggested that maybe the volume button might be stuck and that's what is causing the safemode
I ran into safe mode awhile ago, I somehow got out of it, made a post and no one responded.. lol

Hello all, im fairly new to 'rooting' world and wish my first post wasn't on this, however, i'm not too sure where else to look for help! I believe my phone may be lost, but thought I'd ask before giving up completely. I was running ARHD 3.6.7 rom on my HTC Sensation. rooted, everything working like a charm, til last nite... I d/l and flash the ARHD 3.6.7 Hard Version Brightness Tweak from this post... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1350580. However, instead of going into recovery, I used rom manager ( I've read at times not to use this for certain things, so guessing this is one of em..noob mistake that may cost me my phone). While in rom manager, the following 2 options were checked, which I think is where I went wrong, 1) wipe data and cache 2) wipe dalvik cache. When my phone rebooted, the old 'android' boot image was showing instead of the 'Beats Audio' from the ARHD Rom. This is where I am at. The phone seems to be stuck at reloading this image over and over. I can not boot into recovery by holding the down volume and power. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Sholdn't have wiped anything when installing a mod, you need to open your recovery and reinstall ARHD ..if you don't have the .zip on your sdcard then just take it out of the phone and put it into the computer and copy over a .zip
you need to wipe everything before installing the ROM so user the super wipe

Ok, not bricked is great! However, I do have another question. I have a pretty good uderstanding of what to do once in recovery, my question is ' how do I get there?' When I hold the down volume and power buttons, I still boot to the android screen which I am currently stuck on. I have the zip files I need on my sd card, just can't get to em... Is there another way to get into recovery to wipe and reinstall? Again, thx for the help, this is most definitely a learning experience

HAve you tried pulling the battery out, then turning on to recovery
I have tried pulling the battery out, pulling the sd card out, seems like no matter, still loads to android screen. While at this screen, if i hold down power, nothing, phones stays on, if i hold down vol down + power, phone reboots to same screen. Seems like getting into recovery is my real problem...
ARHD doesn't recommend the use of Rom manager if you carefuly read the flashing instructions .further than that I had a problem like that in the past with my HTC desire ,what I did was to follow the unrevoked once again and did everything from the begining eventualy I got the recovery mode and flashed my new rom.maybe be if u follow a similar procedure by reinstalling the revolutionary kit will give u the desired outcome... Maybe sounds a bit odd but it worked for me .I don't think u have anything to lose if u try .your phone isn't bricked though by any means so no worries. Good luck maye

Do you mean you're pressing volume down and power while your phone is already on ?
K, agreed, nothing to loose, gonna give that a go.. I am having detection issues. When I connect to pc, the device 'android phone' is recognized, but I can't access any files, HTC sync, fastboot for example saying no device connected, please check connection. I assume because the phone will not go past the boot screen? Anyhow, gonna try your suggestion. Thanks!

Yes, I have done both. While the phone is off, I have pressed vol down and power with no luck. I have also tried it while the phone was on (trying anything at that point). Still only going to android boot image.
Is there another way to enter recovery if vol down + power while phone is off doesnt work?
HALLELUJA..... Reboot into recovery successful! Not sure why, but after numerous attempt, I got it. Thx for all the quick replies. Wiping and reflashing now!!

I'm having this same issue, I have used super-wipe and tried reflashing no change. still sits at the 'beats audio' flash screen. When I first tried to root the phone I believe i flashed the wrong radio zip but the hboot is version 1.23.0000 radio version is 10.14.9035.01_M whenever i try to reflash hboot or radio zips i get errors usually (status 7). It still boots into hboot and recovery just fine, but I'm not sure whats wrong or how exactly to fix it, any help would be appreciated. If you need any more information just ask. Thanks

Did you flash an ICS rom without installing the ICS firmware first?
If this is the case, take out your sd card, copy over the ICS firmware to the root of the sd card, boot into the bootloader, and it'll walk you through updating the firmware.
it says
model id incorrect
update fail!
press <power> to reboot.
i think the radio i tried to flash was for a different phone maybe, but it was in a tutorial to root and install arhd the tutorial said you have to update the radio to use ics. any ideas?
"model id incorrect" <- you need to super CID your phone.
Do you have adb running on your computer?
my bad guys i had supercid i hadnt changed it to 11111111 did that re-wiping and flashing now thanks for the help

Hi guys!
I have HTC Sensation with CM7 on it. CW Touch recovery flashed through ROM Manager
Couple of days ago my battery died and when I connected it to the charger, and expected it to charge, nothing happened, instead the LED was flashing.
I searched XDA developers for the answer and found that other people had similar issue and resolved it by wiping battery stats. So I thought great! Lemme try that. I booted my phone into recovery and started updating. It started updating while in recovery (never saw this happen before). Ok. So now, after the update I have “LOCKED” on top of my recovery screen. Whatever, I thought, and proceeded further. I wiped battery. Didn’t help. I wiped everything else – tada! My phone seems to boot…than again…again and again. Welcome to the bootloop! *sigh* Ok. I experiment with my phone a lot so I always have a working backup in case I screw up something. But it didn’t help this time! All I get now is HTC Screen => CM7 screen => restart and flashing LED. I have no idea what to do now! I already searched the XDA Developers and haven’t found any solutions (please forgive me if it’s out there and I missed it). Whatever I found for “flashing LED”, “bootloop”, “bootloop after dalvik cache wipe” etc. didn’t help.
One thing that might be important – whenever I was installing a new ROM I would get bootloop if I wipe dalvik cache. It worked fine without wiping dalvik cache.
It turns on and i tried couple of ROMs but all i get is Bootloop with every ROM.
I tried my best to lay out everything that happened. Ask me for more details.
If you think that I'm another noob who should watch the "epic" XDA video one more time please ignore this post. I did my best to find solution before posting it.
Thanks in advance.

just post back complete details present in bootloader ..and what is the last rom you have flashed on it
also if you know how to use adb/fastboot
connect your phone to pc from bootloader (phone should read fastboot usb after this)
and post the complete output of the following command (except IMEI and serial number)
fastboot getvar all

I couldn't use adb/fastboot - all i get is "waiting for device" although, when I boot into recovery my computer make sound like when you connect smth (e.g. usb) and tries to install MTP USB Device but fails even though it was installed long time ago and I can see it in the Device Manager working fine.
Ok I was trying to mount USB Storage via bootloader but got "E:Unable to open ums lunfile" error. From what I found here CWM doesnt support it. My CWN is 5.8.0.9
Currently I restored my stock Android backup but still bootloop.
Flashing LED persists.

tada ..there's your issue
the bootloader is of ICS one and the radio is of GB one ...you have incomplete/mixed firmware
the best you can do now is ..
to flash 1.17 universal firmware ..and restore the CM7 backup (this means you will be on Ginger bread)
or flash 3.32/3.33 universal firmware and ..flash a ICS ROM (be it sense,cm9 or any other ROM)
for firmware download and flashing instructions look here

Dude! Thank you so much! Now I got working phone with ICS running!
I can't thank you enough! Thanks man, you're a lifesaver!
Hi everyone, i got an issue with my cel phone, i update it with the RUU_EVITA_UL_JB_45_S_Cingular_US_3.18.502.6_Radio_0.24p.32.09.06_10.130.32.34 and after that my phone starts in a boot loop , the AT&T logo appears but then restarts again ,and again ,etc.-
I tried to conect it to the Pc so i can put another RUU Rom ,but computer cant install the drivers so is not recognize .-
The phone is not unlock
Please i dont know what to do , i tried a lot of thing like fastboot rebot, recovery, etc but nothing seems to work , if anyone can help me i will be gratefull
thanks
try a factory reset from recovery hold the power button and volume down till the lights at the bottom start blinking when the phone shuts off keep holding the volume button and let go of the power button this should get you into bootloader then select recovery from there
So the phone is stock (not rooted, never bootloader unlocked)?
If the drivers aren't correctly installed, the RUU is never going to run. I think that is the main problem. Find the latest drivers (HTC Sync), reboot the computer, make sure you have admin rights, etc. Also try a different USB port, or try another computer, if possible.

RUU doesn't care about recovery, it re-installs stock recovery automatically.
Well i made what you told me , first i tried to put the same RUU and it flashed it but issue remains , so i tried to put an older RUU ( downgrade it ) process starts but suddenly stopt with 140 error : bootloader version error .-

You can't use a previous RUU if the hboot is older. So that error is normal and expected.
You will need to run the 3.18 RUU. Try to download it again. Might just be a bad download.

i already download from htc site and the same happend
Well i finally solve the problem ,after updating with the same RUU many times ,what i do ( don´t know how it works) i flash recovery, when the screen show the red triangle with the exclamation sign , i push power button for about 10 sec ,and the cel phone restarts ok.-
Now i want to know what can ido with this RUU,im afraid if i restar the cel againg the same thing is going to happend .-
I tried to rooted but no succes
I got a doubt what should i do first ?? unlock bootloder or root the phone first ??
thanks
First thing you need to do is read the stickies in this q&a section. Then read stickies in android development section. Then if you have questions, ask. If you just ran the 3.18 ruu though, you're sol, no root/bootloader unlocking possible.

Its not clear from your posts whether the phone was actually updated to 3.18 firmware or not. But the hboot has at least been updated to 2.14.
If the phone is on 3.18 firmware, you can't unlock the bootloader and you can't root.
Well thanks for all the answers , but sorry to say, i continue with the loops anda suddenly the phone starst fine, but when in rebbot it for some reason keep on with the loop issue.-
Instead of that i notice a strange thing happend , as i told , got wifi problems on this model , but as shown in the picture above , i pull out the micro sim,so no mobile data, data conection or network operator set and im connect to my wifi network , thats is strange ,if i put the sim ,the cel phone automatically set the network operator ,and if i set the APN , wifi signal desapears and beggin the known issue for this model on wifi signal and connections .-
Any idea of wath can be ??
Thanks
if you can get your phone to boot and stay booted for atleast 30 minutes. could you install and run this app. eMMC Brickbug Check it will check if the phones memory is good. i havent heard of any bad emmc on evita but maybe you have one, since you seem to be having a similar problem to what i had on an htc ace. also you could reboot into stock recovery and do a factory reset or clear cache, see if you get any errors i got emmc errors on my ace before the partitions finally decided to crap out. you could go through the unbrick thread to repair partitions before the die completely, my theory was doing a similar thing to this ace to repair it.
big problem
I just unlocked my bootloader and rooted my phone, everything went fine. i then tried to flash a custom ROM. Thats where it went really bad. It went into a bootloop. I was able to get it back to bootloader mode and then recovery, so i tried to flash the ROM again, same result. I now have no way to transfer a new ROM over to my SD card and attempts to flash this ROM i downloaded through fastboot have all failed. I dont know what to do at this point, please help.
You haven't given enough information. What are your bootloader details? What recovery and version are you using? Which ROM did you flash? Did you do a factory reset from bootloader?

If s-on, do you realize that you need to flash boot.img seperately using fastboot (for any hboot 1.14 or higher)? This is the most common reason for bootloops when flashing a ROM on this device.
Hi people I wanted to change a rom and now the cellphone brick, htc start logo , vibrates and turn off immediately. He performed several procedures in this community but none revived.
The last use was these 2 process:
"You can access the HBOOT ? Then no solution. donwload PD98IMG_Ace_ this ROM ... And 368_rooted.zip PD98IMG.zip to rename the file and copy it to the root of the SD . Starts in HBOOT (vol down + power) and after check file integrity proceed with flashing . 5-10 min therefore seeks to have the battery charged was delayed. with that the phone will not root without s -off (if not reached rootear ) and official Android 2.3.3 with AT & T.
If you can not enter the HBOOT using the method of flashing via RUU . Just put this file and flash it c.60.29U_26.09.13.17_M_release_335423_signed RUU_Ace_Sense30_S_Cingular_US_3.20.502.63_Radio_12 .69 from the PC (Windows only ) . With that let you phone like new ( no root, no s -off ) and you will want to try the process again with rooteo Advanced Ace Hack Very . I recommend this method at first. You must install the HTCSync you to install the USB drivers .
Pd : the root or other flashing process is done via a PC notebook that has a minimum duration of 30 Battery. "
The first starts and begins to read the file but ends PD98IMG.zip and does not leave me any choice , the second makes excellent everything ends up RUU without any problem, but finally shows updated when you restart perfectly shows the green HTC logo and turn off loop. When I disconnect and turn on it still shows the same logo , vibrates and turn off immediately again.
