I currently have Android ICS in Vmware running great but i need internet any help.
Thanks,
Jordan
You will need at least the vmware network driver/bluetooth.Something weird to try is to connect a inverted usb (the ones used to connect 2 computers) to another computer and run a reverse tethering software between the vmware and the other pc.

Does anyone know if there are ported drivers for HTC ThunderBolt for Mac OS X platform, in particular the USB Connection Mode modem driver?
I know that HTC is very persistent in not supporting anything for macs, but has anyone seen anything ported for mac platform ever? Don't care too much about syncing part, just USB tethering.
Thanks!
Not completely sure about this, but I think the drivers you need are all available on the sdk website. Just look under the installing for macs section
sent from my rooted Thunderbolt with das BAMF 3.0 rc4
If you just want to Usb tether your Mac, PDAnet is clunky, but works.

don't know if this might be any help of you never read it cause I'm on PC. But I remeber seeing it

Ive seen the guide for mac but that's to root your phone. SDK i didn't see any modem drivers. I use PDAnet, but as you said, it's not nearly as fast as regular USB Connection Mode on a PC.
I was wondering if there is a way to port those modem drivers that work great on a PC to a Mac OS X environment.
Hi everyone! I recently switched from a Pre 2 to an HTC Trophy. I love WP7 but I have a few problems. Before I tell you about them I will tell you I have installed the Mango beta onto my device. (BTW I'm on Verizon) Now onto my issues.
* I am running Ubuntu. I have Zune installed in a Windows XP emulator. For some reason the entire computer (Ubuntu and Windows XP) don't recognize the phone when connected via USB. The device just charges.
* I am a big music buff and I NEED MUSIC ON MY DEVICE. As I have said, I run Ubuntu, how am I supposed to do this?
* I would love to use all those fun programs to edit the registry on the device to change the color schemes (because I hate the colors that come pre installed) but I run Ubuntu. I'm sure I could do it via emulator but how come my phone is not recognized?
* Please tell me why my phone isn't recognized.
Thankyou for all help in advance and I am really really really happy to be a part of this community. I used to be a member on XDA back in my Android days and I'm psyched to be back. Please help me with my problems

You could try to setup Windows XP, Vista or Windows 7 in a virtual machine on your system. That should work.

Thanks for the reply, however, I already stated I'm running Windows XP in VirtualBox. When I run lsusb in Linux terminal one of the USB devices is Microsoft and when I unplug the device and run the command again it disappears. So it seems Ubuntu knows its there but since it has no mass storage capabilities it does not display it on the desktop. This still doesn't explain why Windows XP cannot see it because I have USB connections settings checked in VirtualBox.
I think it is a Windows XP problème... Windows 7 does a better job in recognizing devices.
XP is Just to old

You stated that you use an emulator. I really recommend using VM Ware. I never had any issues with USB devices or anything else on it. Since I never used VirtualBox I can't explicitly help you with it though, sorry.

Αnd in addition to that dont use XP ...
Use Windows 7 or Vista ...XP its not working for me....
Ok so now Windows XP sees the device as "Windows Phone 7" but Zune still won't detect it no matter what I do. Any ideas?

XP is going to continue to be a bad choice... What version of ZUNE are you running?
Sent from my SGH-i917 using XDA Windows Phone 7 App
if you using Zune 4.7 try updating to Zune 4.8 and check if your mobile is getting detected.
Hello.
Is there any way i can get win 98 or win xp to run as a "emulator/simulator" on my phone?
Witch installs or runs from my internal or external flash drive?
and uses the phone's wifi as internet connection?
If you have Android SDK installed on your PC or flash drive, you can use PDANet to tether your internet for free! its amazing to use and easy to set up!

Pretty sure that was completely unhelpful to the OP.....just sayin.
Now, back on topic. I'm no expert, but I don't think there is a DOS/Windows emulator for android. Might be worth searching the net for however.
Cant figure out where else to ask this but you all seem to be the brightest group of computer users I know.
I may be dreaming on this technology and I cant find much form web searches here is my thought please let me know if it or something similar would work.
Have a thumb drive running an OS (Ubuntu, or Windows 7,8 whatever) that is plugged into a USB input on a cable or WiFi modem. So technically this thumb drive is always on or I can somehow access it to turn it on. Now the tricky part. I would like to access this windows or Ubuntu via my android table or my note 2 and use it as though it is my desktop (as needed). I see I can use apps like "Jump" to access a freestanding computer with internet connection but wondering if I can take it a step further and just have everything housed on the thumb drive.
I ask this because I recently lost my tablet due to display issues. I am interested in alternatives before I go buy another full on computer.
thanks in advance for the assistance.
It sounds like you are asking for two separate things, booting from a USB drive, and accessing that computer via a tablet. For the first, you can use a program such as Unetbootin, to create a bootable linux distro onto a USB drive. With that, you should be able to have a fully functional linux distro on a USB stick. For the windows equivalent, you could try WintoFlash. As for the second part of your question, if you enable SSH on your computer, you should be able to SSH tunnel into your computer from any other device that has SSH. As android devices already allow themselves to be SSH'ed into, I don't see why you wouldn't be able to use it to access your computer remotely.

Thanks for the info! Yes you are correct I am trying to do both those things, however I am trying to do it without the need of a physical PC. I kind of want this boot able thumb drive or whatever to be my PC that I can access whenever needed. I am thinking this is kind of like a virtual server but I dont know how those are housed. i have heard there are cable modems with a USB drive on them to allow them to act as a server if I could just access my boot-able windows or Ubuntu thumb drive that is in the cable modem that would be what I'm wanting.
Does it have to be a USB device? If not, you could look into using a Rasberry Pi to do just that. If you want to have your own virtual server, you would need some sort of physical PC or other device, although if you only want to have a box that just constantly hosts VM's, you could look into running your own ESXi server. with ESXi, you could just turn on the box and any computer on the network should be able to use the VM's that are being hosted on the server. However, you do need the VM tools to do it so I do not know if you can use an Android Tablet, unless you figure out a way to SSH into the VM without using the tools or porting the tools over to Android.

Well it can be anything really just prefer not to go through having a "box" if I can skip all the steps and just access it to run the OS. That raspberry Pi looks pretty cool wonder if there is something similar out there to run a windows OS. Looking at it if I rooted my phone apparently i coudl run Ubuntu on the phone
yes, basically you would just run a virtualbox on your phone and SSH into it as a localhost. It works the same way for SSHing into an actual box. The problem is that you wanted windows OS, and windows 7 uses at least 20 gb in storage just for the OS alone, therefore it would be impractical to run it from your phone. If you want windows at some point you will need to have a box even if it is just running as a server.
I tried running it on Virtualbox but it didn't go well so here is Android 4.3 running on VMware Workstation.
Download 4.3 from http://android-x86.org

Was this just a clean install from the .iso into VMWare? I'm guessing android-x86-4.3-20130725.iso from http://www.android-x86.org/download
Yes with the modification at boot to make it 1080p. Need to work out the best DPI for it though.
Running on virtual box but not well.
Anyone knows how to rotate screen there? often the game rotates it and then it becomes unusable as mouse directions also reverse.

I know this might be a bit late but I found holding F9-F12 works to force a set rotation.
VirtualBox is working fine. But where i'm very interested is the USB pass-through. I wonder how it performs vs VBox one.
I also know VMware got a virtual USB sniffer. It could be awesome to emulate/create/debug/use custom USB devices.
In example, i'm using an USBAudio sound card. Due to the actual limitation of Android, i'm not able to adress it from SDK (sadly !) and i must do from NDK. VirtualBox fails miserably when i try to open my USBAudio class device (the VM is crashing).
Does you USB devices are working with VMWare ?
Got success installing android 4.6 on a VMware 9. The problem is Apps installing.
I can install apps (.apk) from the internet like SnapPea but not from my computer (no explore) although I modified Android.vmx
Code:
ethernet0.virtualDev = "e1000" to "vlance"
Any idea?
