Just an observation here. Maybe someone with more knowledge can answer.
But now that all T-Mobile USA users have S-off... should we open a new forum for T-Mobile USA phones? I ask this because it seems we will have custom ROMs based off foreign RUUs and OTAs all mixed up in the same thread. Which would bring a lot of "Can I flash this if I'm a USA T-Mo user?" type questions.
Now this may just be a misunderstanding and the custom ROMs may not affect the radio or whatever & thus not be an issue. Just the same I felt it better to ask the question and look stupid than keep it to myself and be right.
Anyone?
I don't think any of the forums split the development sections in the way you're suggesting. You should be able to flash any ROM regardless of what the base is. Just have to read up to make sure it plays nice as some introduce bugs.
I understand what you mean but i don't think its needed provided you read the rom post
at one point threre was two forums for the hd2 leo and tmobile us so it can happen
Indeed. The Leo and T-Mobile US HD2 once had their own forums, but they where eventually merged into one once it became clear that with the proper labeling of releases people where more likely to successfully flash something, than not(IE, that's why we enforce the ROM labeling system that we do here, which was kanged from the HD2 section).
As of right now I see no need to split these forums, as currently ROMs seem to be interchangeable between regions and devices.

Okay. I guess that was part of my question. For example, I saw this ROM posted and it's based on official HTC RUU 1.35.401.1
But since I'm a T-Mobile USA user I wasn't sure if the ROM would alter the frequencies my device operates on...etc. I believe this was an issue back when I had the Samsung Vibrant. There was a European variant known as the i9000. We could not flash the i9000 ROMS without having them ported to our Vibrants properly.

I suspect it will be like the different modems on the SGS series of phones ( I had a Captivate ), I tried Mike's rom on my T-mo USA Sensation and when I tested the data speeds I got about 1/2 the dl speed sitting in the same spot within however long it took to run my recovery ( ran speedtest 5 times and averaged out ).
I'm sure they will iron out the radio thing before long, other than the data speed issue the Rom ran perfect.

I was told by an HTC colleague, Stephanie, yesterday night, via e-mail that my phone, the HTC Inspire 4G (AT&T) would indeed be getting upgraded to the Android 4.0 IceCream Sandwich OS in "Early 2012"

Found on the HTC support site I know that everyone is saying it wont get it due to no dual core but could they somehow optimize it for us? most likely AT&T wouldnt be getting the upgrade because they are lame but what about unlocked inspires? Just wanted to share this with the community
They lied.

ICS ROM is already in beta here on xda. Was for no dual for being a reason, Google has already stated that it would run on any phone they could run Ginger.

ICS is out (beta form) and there really isn't any need for another pointless ICS thread. It's been covered. The inspire will get it. Whether it's an official release from AT&T or not, the inspire has it. end of story.

...oh yeah, non-rooted phones because you know, that was stated in the OP how silly of me to not infer this. Like I said and my comment speaks for itself, whether or not we get ICS officially isn't the question, the beta is out, rooted phones will get it. If you or anyone likes ICS that much and needs it, consider getting a phone that will support it non-rooted or just root your inspire if it means that much. Again, another pointless thread about ICS. Nothing has changed, it is still the same information.
AT&T always ends life of a phone after 2-3 updates. They don't support phones for very long because they're more worried about making money from new phones. If they supported their old phones, they'd lose their precious money.

Not only will ICS run perfectly fine on a single core fun (I have Beta IV) it uses less RAM than gingerbread does.
And I know this isn't the right place for it, but because I have no other posts I can't ask in development...
Have any of you guys found an Undervoltable Kernel that will work with ICS?
This really is gonna be a never ending issue. This will always be happening unless you get a nexus or euro unbranded version of the phone. As long as the carriers control the updates we may get one maybe two updates but that will be about it. This has always been and always will be the case

UPDATE, most recent news is here. T-Mobile US testing is complete. OTA soon to come.
Update: T-Mobile confirms the Update will be available starting on Wednesday 5/16/2012.
Update: A flashable zip version of the T-Mobile Stock ICS OTA is already available here on XDA. Thanks to Paten for finding the thread and of course thanks to Steve0007 for making it available to the XDA community.
Update: WiFi Calling Mod ripped right from the T-Mobile ICS OTA is now up!
Update: Confirmation someone has received the official OTA.

You can root and go back to stock with s on with ease, yet everyone still complains. Makes no sense to me. ARHD is pretty much stock and works perfectly. All of the T mobile stuff works flawlessly for me on my US 4G which leads me to my next point. T-Mobile US is definitely holding the release back waiting for the One to launch. As if it can't be more likely that T-Mobile sent the buggy ICS update back. We already know HTC just released a patch for it. So even HTC is not trying to proclaim the first ICS release was perfect.
The Sensation is on EOL with T-Mobile, they want the last update to be good enough to walk away from. Not have to deal with complaints and another later OTA patch.
The T-Mobile update matters, because that could be why we got a patch from HTC so quickly. Also, there's no telling if the T-Mobile edition might have other updates.
Yea, we're all running custom ROMs already, so no big deal there is a delay. But just the same, the topic is worth keeping an eye on.

Last if anyone thinks T-Mobile does not want to compromise any potential profits for the HTC One S by updating the HTC Sensation 4G too early. Well let me tell you, start thinking it cause it is no doubt in my mind it is. Yes Marketing may actually have no control over a software update, but profits do. Meaning if the higher ups in the T-Mobile corperate offices see it as a potential damaging factor to possible profits of the release of HTC's New flag ship device..

I'm sorry to hear it, though not really surprised. The vagaries of quality assurance between two companies makes it pretty inevitable that it would much longer than normal.
Though disappointing, I'd rather have a quality build with no errors - particularly in the trouble-some wifi calling app - than get a stock build that has to be patched ad nauseum.

I'm just saying its crazy to let yourself actually get upset about it when you can get a fully functional ICS Rom loaded on your phone with ease.
As far as the peeps who need WiFi calling to work, (we are all adults here for the most part), use GB until the official ota drops and stop complaining. We are 100% certain it is in the works. GB works perfectly fine until then.

Restoring Stock
To those of you that are saying it is a relatively simple matter to restore the phone to stock and S-On if you want following an ICS upgrade, am I wrong that to be left with the impression from what I've read that it is actually somewhat risky to roll back from ICS on the Sensation to the stock GB. Maybe I'm misinterpreting what I've seen, but the feeling I have is that yes it is pretty easy to upgrade to ICS, but that the firmware upgrade required to get ICS is difficult to undo if you want to rollback to the T-Mobile stock GB Rom.
This doesn't surprise me...tipical T-Mobile slowness!

In short, yes, you are wrong. If you are s-off rolling back software/firmware is simple and no more risky than it was to flash non-US ICS firmware and radio! Yes there is risk involved, but that same risk was there when flashing ICS so why worry now if you weren't worried before?

T-Mobile has had leaked ICS Roms for both HTC devices running Sense 3.0. The Sensation 4G, and Amaze 4G. Most people felt like the Amaze would never get the 3.6 Update. But now they have a leaked RUU, bloat and all. Now that a good number of Sense 3.0 devices have an ICS update. I think it's time for the Doubleshot to get a ICS update. The Gingerbread RUU was leaked before this phone came out. I'm sure Football will manage to get a leaked Rom. We have all the proper specs, and I know we have 1 Million plus ICS Update threads. But with all the new updates, come on. It's about time.

Undeadk9 was claiming that he knew a "level 3" tech support at T-Mobile who told him there would not be any ICS for MT4GS. I heard all that sort of crap back when I had a Moto Cliq and the MT3GS, some "friend" in "tech support" telling bullsh*t. No doubt there is a friend, but believing that friend has information that nobody else has is very unrealistic.
T-Mobile updated even the ancient original MyTouch from 1.6 all the way to Froyo 2.2. I don't see them completely abandoning this phone, especially since the hardware is so similar to their other models like the Amaze 4G and Sensation 4G. HTC would only need to incorporate the Genius system.

You just confirmed that you really don't know sh*t. EOL has no bearing on whether a phone receives an update. T-Mobile has updated many phones long after they went EOL in their system. The entire MyTouch lineup, including the original, got updated to Froyo within a few months of each other, LOOOOOOONG after they had all gone EOL.
And what's the crap about no development on this phone? You can't be taken seriously spewing crap like that. Look around, dude. Here and Virtuous are full of dev for this phone.

I threw AOKP in the mix by mistake. Either way, you're missing the point. There are stable (DEFINE: something I can use daily, with features I won't miss - obviously that differs from person to person) ICS roms out there. And if something like autobrightness isn't working, and that's what got you in a hunch, then you need to stick to the stock rom. Honestly I could care less about little quibbles like that.
My point is 95% of what you would need, even on a daily basis is working. And for some roms, it's even more than that. That's pretty outstanding considering we don't even have an official kernel or update.
Honestly, this thread has spiraled into a pointless opinion thread.
I refrain from posting any further.
You may think what you wish
I keep seeing people on here saying "phones with sense 3.0". I hope yall realize that we don't even have a real version of Sense.. its a Rosie/Doubleshot version. I don't see HTC modifying/myTouching the new version of sense and ICS for the doubleshot.

I hope so. None of the custom ICS ROMs are stable, always several things missing or not working that prevent me from using it long term and those ROMs havent been updated in over a month.
Like I've said in several ics threads like this, the mytouch 4g will not receive ics.
Reason being, the mt4g has T-Mobile's sense version(my sense). For the mytouch 4g to be able to receive ics, T-Mobile would have to get rid of their mysense version of sense which they won't do on a T-Mobile specific device or HTC would have to create 2 versions of ics, one compatible with mytouch 4g's mysense and a regular ics for the rest of the devices.
You guys also gotta realize we didn't even receive a sense 3.0 update.
U all keep forgetting that HTC rebranded the phone in canada to the HTC Panache...
So its not only a MYSENSE Tmobile phone
so it is possible that other carriers in canada request that ICS gets on this phone

So its not only a MYSENSE Tmobile phone
so it is possible that other carriers in canada request that ICS gets on this phone
thats my 2 cents on this subject

Exactly, in Canada. If my memory serves me rights, they didn't even receive android 2.3.4.
But lets say he Canadian version of the mytouch receives ics, the US T-Mobile won't. Again same reason, panache=sense/T-Mobile mytouch 4g=mysense.
And away we go!

Hah! I wonder if it has anything to do with the e-mail I sent to Peter Chou (htc's CEO) regarding their blatant disregard for GPL rules and continued dishonesty with the community? I'd like to think it was. I'll just pretend for the moment that I made it happen (lol, somehow I doubt it).
I called them on their BS on claiming that the community agreed that 90-120 days was acceptable.
Without a real kernel dev this isn't much worth, in the one x forum's are still not stable and there are real pro's.
Let's see..
I'm pretty sure I know why they waited. Today was the beginning of the update for the One S on T-Mobile US. If I'm not mistaken, T-Mobile's One S is the last one to get the radio and software update to match the rest of the One S devices. So it sort of makes sense, they didn't release the kernel sources until after the update was ready. I, personally, am not bothered cuz I just got my One S today, but I can completely understand the frustration for the 1st day buyers on T-Mo, and the global versions, since you guys have been waiting months now, it would seem. Either way, It's here now, and that means we all will get to reap the benefits. Now, where's my OTA already? LOL
Couldn't see U.S. listed in there.

True...should we start a pool to buy a 1S for a recognized developer?

While it does seem that HTC waited for the update to release the source... It's unfortunate that they didn't include the source for the US Tmobile version yet.... This probably won't be an issue since most run EU roms anyways(AOKP for me)... The One X for At&t is still waiting for source... As torxx mentioned source means nothing without someone to develop a kernel... Hopefully we will see something on the horizon sooner rather than later

About time. HTC have dragged their heels for far too long.
Excited for all the new kernels.
Where is ProTekk??
Wohooo! Time to get building! If we're lucky, we can get CM9 running perfectly now. *Gets on it*
Does this mean aokp/cm9 roms will work better? Or better yet will they be able to be completed with working camcorder etc.?

It's great to see that HTC is releasing kernel source code for devices even if they aren't releasing it for other devices, such as the HTC amaze 4G.

S4 source should be fairly stable. I should have a kernel built for you guys later tonight. One x tegra source was a mess which is why tegra is taking awhile.

I just noticed that myself. Seems odd. Maybe someone can find out what version the kernel is and compare it to the sources already posted. It seems, however, that this 1.84 update hasn't hit any XDA members yet, since I haven't seen anyone on here post that they received it yet. I saw a lot of talk about an unlocked bootloader being enough to prevent an update from being performed, but I think it's all rumor. I could be wrong though. I have yet to unlock the bootloader & root, because I'm waiting to find out what issues I will run into later. For instance, this Tampered banner sort of has me worried. Plus, re-locking the device has its own separate banner from Locked? Has me really concerned about any potential warranty exchanges in the future, should my device need one. Hopefully this all gets sorted out. I'm really liking Sense, this is my first time using it, and fortunately I got a slimmed down version, vs. 3.x & older. But I do have an itch to go back to some AOSP ICS like I had going on my G2x last month. Either way, I haven't even signed into my Google account yet, and I've had the phone about 7 hours now. There's plenty to do without needing to enter my Google credentials.
