And it is featuring a 400MHZ Samsung CPU, not the previously announced 300MHz only!
No word yet about UK. Anyone?
i like it i like it alot
I love it... I'll sell my Wizard for him :°)
I'll be gutted if O2 get this soon and T-Mobile take a while. I'm tired of paying at least £70 a month on purely data.
I hope the figures are wrong! 299 Euros on a 24 month contract!!! Jesus thats expensive
Im with B-B on this, if ever O2 get this first ill be fuming!
argh!!! I just bought a 1GB miniSD!!! Now I gotta get a microSD!!!!??? geez.....SLOW DOWN!
Any news on an o2 UK release date?

Why would you want O2 on a device with Push Email when T-Mobile let you have virtually unlimited data for £7.50?
Coz my signal was awful with t-mob, was lucky to have 1 bar with them at times, when i was with them a couple of years ago. So theres no point. Not running that risk again and getting tied in for 12/18months. Better the devil you know.
But thats a nice deal if you can get it, theres no denying that.
Anyways im not with o2, im with Orange, but im getting an o2 upgrade off a family member, doing a swap sorta!
Cant wait for this device to be out on o2 UK, so if anyone knows when its on its way, post it here!
has the t-mobile signal situation improved at all?
I was with them 4 years ago, bad signal.
My mate was with them two years ago, improved but still quite poor.
So i'm just not willing to run the risk.
Specially as now there no discount offer on flexts, they dont seem as good.
I have 120min and 1000texts for £22.50 p/m. You cant get that with them. But yes they do have the ace idea of unlimited data, but as i've said, not running the risk of bad signal.
Well you can return the phone within 7 days if you dont like it or dont get signal. Got to love distance selling regulations.
4 years is a very long time though, check your location on the t-mobile map on their website.
Altho i may only use about 5MB p/m... if that, coz of wifi connections... maybe not quite worth £7.50 or however much it is.
This is a pr stunt, this is not unlimited data really, it's more like unlimited browsing. You can't even use MSN Messenger on their service!? Let alone free UK phone calls thru VoIP...... waste o money imho
I just spoke to Vodafone UK, they tell me they begin shipping the qtek V1605 (Hermes) on 10th July for corporate customers....
doesnt include msn? Thats stupid. thats one of the main reasons of using the net on my phone!
I think i'll stick with my good roange signal and offer thanx!

I'm paying £70 to £100 with O2 for data... bit of browsing, RSS reader updates, emails, push email, attachments....
Explain to me how £7.50 for same on T-Mobile is a waste of money.

It does work fine with MSN and includes unlimited browsing and email as well. You can upgrade for a further 2.50 if you want true data modem which gives you 2GB a month.

Anywaaays... Is this device gonna be released on o2 uk?
Not on o2
I went to the Verizon store today thinking that I would trade up on my HTC Incredible only to find out that Verizon got rid of the upgrade anytime ability. They said I could get a Thunderbolt, but it would cost me $600.
Oh how nice it would be to have a Thunderbolt. Anyone have any ideas to fight this with Verizon?

Seeing as promotions are not contractual, there's not really anything you can do. All I can suggest is seeing as the T-bolt is SIM based, see if you can get someone to do an insurance claim on theirs saying they lost it and buy it off of them. They might try to blank out the IMEI but the SIM should counteract that.

He would have to activate the "lost" phone to even get a SIM card, which wouldn't happen because the IMEI would already be flagged. Since this is Verizon's only 4G device, how would he go about getting a SIM card? The SIM cards are useless once they've been activated on an account and then replaced with a new one, so using the other person's old one isn't an option.

Actually if he found someone to do the lost phone deal. he could then go buy the cheapest sim-based phone outright, have it set to his account then take the sim card and put it in the t.
But the cheapest one i think is about 200.00 plus any changes it does to the contract (if any) and the at least 90.00 cost for the t's replacement. would end up costing over half the cost of the t and that's only if he gets lucky on the cost of the t

How do you then get a 4G SIM? Verizon's only other SIM based devices are all 3G "world phones" that I'm pretty sure only use the SIM cards when not in the US. Verizon's not gonna say "oh, sure, you want a 4G SIM for your Blackberry.. no problem". Unless, of course, he just never wanted to utilize LTE. I don't know enough about Verizon to be certain, but was an AT&T Mobility Resolution Specialist for a while.. and what you're suggesting would definitely not work with AT&T(given the same conditions of them only having 1 device using the new network). However, how much is an outright USB 4G Modem? NVM, that would not include voice plans, and they'd know something was up when he tried to add one to a modem LOL.. seriously, I dunno if this is possible. Even if it was, would possibly just be easier to save for a bit and just buy the phone.

You are confusing gsm and lte. They arebnot the same. DON'T DO IT! won't get you anywhere + it's insurance fraud.
Could maybe add a line to your acct. Essentially paying $240 over the course of your contract plus $250 for the phone... It's a little cheaper.

You can normally talk people down a bit on CL too. So if you sell your phone for almost $200.. you're really only paying $300 for the phone which isn't bad at all with no contract!

I am not an attorney ... but this seems like quite a fraud. You have to ask (and convince) a 'friend' to lie that they lost their phone. Then you have to lie during the activation process. Seems like a heck of a conspiracy for a few hundred dollars. I would NEVER ask a friend to participate in this type of scam.
On the other hand ... I 'lost' my Thunderbolt.
Similar to another posters issues, I have now had three HORRIBLE refurb TB's, added to the horrible refurb TP2's that I had about a year ago. Verizon (mike peir is his name) told me that if this last one wouldn't fix my problems, (random RB's, unable to get GPS lock, and for some unknown reason I lost lte) Then they would send me a new one. Welllllll, I called mike on his personal work number and he feeds me some bs of "well after reviewing your account again I don't know that I can honor that." Dude has flat out lied to me. Also, I spend about 200 a month though VZW where I would only be spending about 165 after discounts and such through sprint. I understand that the wimax isn't lte, but I can save money, and if I'm going to get crappy(lying) customer service though both, what's the point in spending an extra 500 dollars a year? I just want some feedback as to what I should do? What would you do if you were in my situation? Also, I have sent back the refurbs each time instead of my phone because they were all, externally, in worse condition than mine. And one had the same SW issues as mine. Will post pics later.
It's a software issue, just wait for the update. As far as sprint being cheaper of course they are. No carrier can compete with VZW on service so they have to compete on price.

the issues you are talking about have all been discussed her and like crazyhtown says will be fixed in a software update soon. OR you could grow a pair and just root the dang thing and flash a different radio, worked for me. I had the EXACT same issues with my Tbolt after the OTA update, flashed a different radio and it was solved
Was rooted when I lost 4g. And the GPS still wouldn't lock. The only thing that rooting fixed was random reboots. When I was on das bamf 1.7 remix I lost 4g and couldn't get it back. I have tried everything to fix the 4g issue, that was the kicker. I was dealing without GPS, but what's the point in having a LTE device if you can't use it? Now I'm back stock it 4g still isn't back. I have tried enabling and disabling eharp, and obviously I have tried turning on LTE/evdo. (I'm in a heavily covered 4g area and drive from one side of that area to the other every day. I live in north charlotte and drive to south charlotte. 28031 to 28273) I don't know why I lost it, but it did. I have pulled the sim card and reseated it, and that didn't fix it either. But I refuse to take a device that is not in at least as good of condition as the one I am sending back.
Try talking to a manager. I have, on rare occasion, had to resort to this. I usually have no problems with the CSRs, but when I begin getting inconsistent information that doesn't seem right, I talk to them.
How long have you been a Verizon customer? Have you ever had Sprint 'service'?
Is there any substantial WiMAX coverage in your area? Or is it spotty at best?
If no substantial WiMAX in your area, I would just tell Verizon to give you a good 3G phone until they can provide a reliable LTE network & phone. One can usually negotiate a solution with Verizon. Escalate as high as you need to until you find someone that can work out a solution.
I finally got the guy who I referenced in my first post to honor what he told me to begin with. He called me back about 20 mins ago and apologized for telling me something he shouldn't have, then said he "looked further into my account" and could "honor what he promised Saturday". He was supposedly a call center manager. Because he was who I was escalated to on Saturday. They are sending me a new phone now. I guess I'm happy, but it seems like an awful lot of effort just to get the guy to do what he promised he would do previously. Which the way he called back makes me think he got his hand slapped by his superior, because he apologized like 20 times for promising something "he wasn't supposed to."
5 years with VZW. I had sprint(nextel actually) before that. Then ATT before that. ATT is the only one I would never do business with again. I mainly left sprint because my now fiancée was on verizon and I was blowing through minutes just talking to her. Between the two of us I usually average about 1000 m2m now, and that's down from what we used to talk. (more like her talk, and I listen. lol) So I really needed to make a move because of that.
Wimax is pretty solid where i'm at, it just doesn't go as far north as LTE does. It drops about 10 miles north of here. However, where I commute and live I am always in wimax.
Verizon has appeased me for now, I'm still not sure if I will stay when my contracts are up. I guess the guy thought I was bluffing before I asked how much my etfs were and started giving him my card number.
My suggesstion is to stick it out with vzw. I recently switched to vzw from AT&T and paid a heftly cancellation fee to do so because I was fed up with their service and shopped around before landing on Verizon. This was money well spent. I made the right choice, as someone else said above, others may be cheaper but I doubt if anyone will be better. Once the update comes for the TB all will be well.
Thanks for the responses, I think I'm going to stick it out for a few more months and see how it goes. But, right now VZW is on a very short leash. They did, after hours on the phone, finally make good on their promise. Sorry for bogging down the forum, and again, thanks for all the answers.
If you think you're going to have a better experience with replacement phones on AT&T, or Sprint, or T-Mobile, good luck. You won't. Unless you visit a warranty center for AT&T, you won't get a working phone in any quicker timeframe then you could with Verizon.
The grass isn't always greener on the other side.

Stop calling mike. Call corporate. My bud threatened to cancel 5 accountant over a MOTO Droid dropping calls when he found out a Droid x was coming...short of it is he had a Droid x 1 week before they dropped. His business skills were impressive...shady but impressive cause his d1 never dropped a call lol
I'm not saying they will be greener. But a 500 A year savings might be worth leaving if I'm going to have issues no matter where I go. Maybe I'm wrong, it just seemed today like VZW wasn't worth their word. Like I said though, he did rectify it. So I'm appeased for now. We will see if I have any more issues. If not, then ill stay, if so, then I leave.

I came from from sprint after being a 7 yr customer. Year their CS sucks but the plans are gonna save you $ no matter what. I was lied to from a Radio Shack employee who said that At&T had the cheapest plans and after finding out the truth we canceled our contract with AT&t and had to go with Verizon since we did an early termination with sprint. I regret it every second. Sprint always has the best phones out the fastest. they are deffinetly on the cutting edge of cell phones. the 3d evo comes out in a few weeks and you can record, take pics in 3D and the whole phone is 3D without and glasses. Plus you get unlimited everything for $69 a month. No throtteling like verizon and no data limits with At&t. Sprint is by far the best way to go. IMO

What does having different phones that maybe you enjoy a few from have anything to do with quality of service? Sprint has slowest network and honestly with Tmobile and AT&T doing their thing I honestly think Sprint is at the bottom of the food chain. Yes I enjoy some phones on other carriers service but will I give up decent CS for it? No way but we all know everyone had had good, bad or no issues with their carrier so again this is to each their own.
Issue here is same as most other cell phone companies they are representing the developers of the phones so they need to protect their investment in making it hard to get replacement devices when you are outside the 14 days. Sprint, AT&T and VZ all have huge flaws when it comes to warranty replacement but when it comes to generally trying to take care of the Customer I still without a doubt think VZ does the best. You need to be in full control of what you want a justifable resolution when you call and ask for a Manager. Do not take no for an answer and let them know they need to stand by the quality expected from a brand new phone.
Yes phones have flaws but hourly reboots is not acceptable. Replacement devices that are not put together right is not acceptable. Lying to customer to put them off to next CS rep is not acceptable. Making promises and not following up on them and trying to give customers the run around is not acceptable.
I had SO many issues with launch of this phone most people don't believe me. Yet I kept trying to get phone without issues I has having. Non fuctional power buttons, displays not aligned on phone even, BAD light leaking from bottom of the case. So I have placed 6 total orders from Customer Care since March 17th. Have 5 device swaps at the store and they gave up and put me in touch with phone tech support. After 2 months of awaiting my bill to be fixed and having to contact HTC on how bad VZ was handling my situation I got resolution and taken VERY good care of.
Result was follow up Customer Service rep from HTC calling and offering me any HTC device I wanted on VZ network and they would take care of VZ. So I said I want to be locked into 4G data plan and I want only the Thunderbolt and will not wait for next device months to come. They contacted VZ on my behalf and guess what I got a Manager overide contact renewal which means being I was out of orginal 14 days and lack of 5 supervisor call backs VZ had to put me in a new contract date and send me a new phone for free. So I have spare TB that just needs the Software update and has peeling on kickstand. Free extended battery and all my shipping charges were removed from EVERY order.
Point is there are tons of good phones out there but if you want the most reliable Customer service SADLY you must speak with Management 75% of the time to get results you expect for your situation. I did not back down and I patiently waited and today I get my new devices from VZ.
Yep. Oftentimes the key to resolving a problem is primarily finding the right person to speak with. True at both Verizon and HTC. When I was on Sprint, I can remember waiting on hold forever before even speaking to the first level of customer support.
There is no service like Verizon. They are the leaders for a reason. And sprint is cheap and have the least customers for a reason...

I recently bought a Galaxy Nexus, so I used my Tmo upgrade to get the One S, and now I want to turn around and sell it to subsidize my Nexus.
The $50 rebate sounds like I basically have to use it. The requirements are:
1) To qualify for this rebate card offer, you must reach the qualifying handset and Data/Messaging requirements below through T-Mobile Customer Care. Qualifying activations include T-Mobile Refurbished Device products.
2) Offer only valid on plans with a two-year contract.
3) To be eligible for the rebate card: (i) your submitted materials must be validated by T-Mobile; (ii) you must have an active account meeting the rebate eligibility requirements; and (iii) your upgraded handset must be used to complete at least one call on your extended line of service.
Here's my dilemma. Most people who will want this phone won't meet those requirements. So selling the phone with the rebate unfulfilled won't be useful to a lot of people. It also wants your customer account number, so they might do some cross checking to make sure you really bought the phone.
For me to claim it before selling it, I'll need to make a call on my line, meaning I'll need to activate the included micro sim on my account and make a call. That means I'll have to use the micro sim included.
Is it that hard to get a new micro sim? If I use it, can whoever buys the phone just walk into T-mobile and get a new one? Was hoping to sell it NIB without opening it, but now I can at least power it on and take a picture showing it working.
Anything I'm missing? Thanks for the help everybody.
I dunno about the whole rebate situation but I know you can get a micro sim cutter that turns a normal sized sim card into a micro sim. Maybe there'll be one included in the box (I dunno about that yet, I get my One S on Tuesday ) but they can be bought for pretty cheap anyway.
Any idea if I activate and use the micro sim that came with the One S...will that deactivate the old sim I'm using in my galaxy nexus?
And feel free to give your opinion...what would you rather get...a NIB never opened One S....or one that has been opened with proof of powering on?

That's what I was afraid. Tmo has made it pretty darn difficult to redeem this thing. Would have to activate micro sim (now buyer has to get one), and then I have to go get a new regular sim for my nexus. Ugh...not worth it.
I'll include all the rebate stuff and whoever gets it can try and claim it!

I have glad news for you! I have checked with my specialists and we got approval for the unlocked version replacement. In order to help you with a replacement, we need to collect the device from you first and once the device reaches our warehouse, we will be able to send a replacement device.
I would need the below details:
Full Name
Shipping address
Phone number
I'll send the shipping labels when you help me with the above details.
Awaiting your reply!"

Why you not cry for Apple devices? You can't unlock bootloader, you can't install custom rom and Apple not give you permision to root it.
Glad u got that taken care of but they weren't afraid of your threat. They probably get that 600x/day. They wanted you to go away. I still dont understand the issue here. Everyone has known for 10 years you can't do this with a VZW phone. Why did you just get the Google phone again instead of hoping there would be an exploit someday to be able to root a carrier device?

After emailing a threat to Google, that both them and VZW was up for a class action lawsuit for NOT having the Retail Box Read "VZW Bootloaders cannot and will not Ever be UNLOCKED even after Carrier Unlocking Device..."
A supervisor approved my VZW replacement with a Google Branded Replacement.
It's all about what you know and how you say it!
Replacement should be here Tuesday or Wednesday!
I can't believe they went against policy over a threat!

What does apple have to do with his issue?
never get phone through a carrier to begin with. just get it right from the manufacturer delivered to your house then set up the sim through the carrier.
OP thinks two giant companies care about your idle threats. I'll laugh if they send you another VZW replacement or if the exchange never goes through. In the future buy unlocked and save yourself a headache.

So people were nice to you . . . and your response is to mock them online?
I am curious for an update....I'm curious to see if the replacement wasn't "accidentally" a Verizon variant again...
There's more chance of it being an unlocked one since it's Google handling the replacement and it's coming (supposedly) from a Google warehouse, but I wouldn't be surprised -- whether on purpose or accidentally by a warehouse worker reading the order wrong -- if they accidentally send a Verizon variant because it's going to a Verizon customer...
Either way, I wouldn't count that there was any chance it being replaced on the Verizon side...I wonder how many Google reps would be willing to allow this kind of thing before denying it outright no matter how much pestering...
This class action lawsuit is about as dumb as fat people suing McDonald's because the food made them fat. Give it up already. Do some research before buying or go with a different carrier.
@AndroidAddict420, do you mind giving us an update? How is your device? Everything you expected? I'm very curious -- I'm sure you have at least some of us just as curious...

They will send him a Verizon model device, no question about it. Their "unlocked device" will be carrier unlocked and not bootloader unlockable. This once happened to me with a Pixel 3 that I got from Google but was Verizon branded. The problem was that Verizon locked the dual sim function and Google was just starting to roll it out. I begged, pleaded got Verizon on conference call with Google all to no avail. But I persisted and finally got a second tier rep that got be the exchange. But it took about a month of calling every day and was probably not worth my time since the dual sim was only single active. But hey, I've been wrong before although not often. lol
Hahaha
OP is busy sending another ‘threat’ email because the replacement they sent him was a VZW locked one too.
****posting. Mods lock and delete this fool

The funny thing is, this could have ALL BEEN AVOIDED. This so-called veteran android person bought the phone out-right at the beginning. It would be another story as he had to buy it from Verizon in payments. This is not the case. He completely paid for the phone from Verizon. That was a dumb mistake. He is trying to make Verizon pay for his stupidity.

Yes you are correct but it might not have been stupidity merely ignorance. When you buy from Google on their store there are 3 versions, unlocked, Google Fi and Verizon. If you are on a VZW plan it's easy to chose that one if doing it quickly. One red flag is that the Verizon one is $100 more due to the availability of mmWave. I'm sure he won't make that mistake again. If he's outside the return window of 15 days then he's out of luck. The only way to correct the mistake is a full return and repurchase but that's a moot point now.

Sometimes it is hard to avoid simple mistakes when cannabis is involved. You might be an expert at something and then could potentially make a blatant, goofy mistake without even realizing it for a bit too long. And sometimes it could cause the polar opposite to happen!
But, ya know, perhaps I'm totally wrong and the user just likes the number in their username, haha ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
OP dodging with updating us. Must be enjoying his new VZW Pixel while calling Google and Verizon back again and again while drafting legal forms to start a class action lawsuit.
