Micro SD slot - Eee Pad Transformer Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I got my transformer yesterday. Best thing I've ever bought. However.....when inserting a SD into the slot. It won't recognise it properly. I have to use my finger to push it in a little more before it will accept it.
Is this a known problem? I will try another couple of SD cards later but don't want to have to have it repaired a day after getting it.

yes.. never insert or remove your card with power on... Cant cause corrupt to the card..

Thanks for that advice. It still doesn't explain whether there is a problem with the SD slot on the pad.
It shouldn't need pushing in further once the sd 'clips' have engaged.

i guess its the way the tablet was design.. u will get use to it...
also put it in slow cuz at times it seems has if im gonna break my card..

I don't think that I should have to get used to constantly pushing on the SD when I need to use it. Haha. Of o release my finger it won't read. It requires constant pressure. Hopefully its just that card. Thanks anyway.

This happened to me the first time, the card needs to go all way to the end but since it get the mechanism at half insert, it might look that its inserted correctly when it isnt.
I must just show its bare head (or bottom) in the side of the TF. If you find that pushing the card to the end, it doesn't stay there (it usually recoils a little), then maybe the mechanism of the slot is faulty (the spring might be loose).

I returned for the same issue and the new one is fine.
Bad unit, exchange it for sure
Good news. I got it exchanged. But good thing a friend of mine works at AT&T because I accidentally ripped the volume button off when I was opening the battery door. Make sure you don't try to open it without looking.

The card that the sim card is attached to out of the box can be used to open the battery door. It slides in at the volume rocker and can be flexed enough to pop the battery cover off very easily.

I think he is taking about the phone shutting down on its own or not powering on. Not the battery door.

But I haven't heard of others having problems like I did. I searched high and low to find out what was wrong with my phone but couldn't find anyone experiencing similar problems.

Erratic "Application Manager" behaviour

Hi Guys
Anyone noticed this problem: whenever you enter the Application Manager and click on an application to see the size of the app or transfer it to the SD card, the size numbers start flickering very fast and then they stabilize on 0 (zero). I have to use the back button then go back into the same application to see the actual numbers
I have to stay this initial release of the Sensation software is extremely buggy, my DHD was way smoother and bug free, hope HTC comes up with updates very soon
I am on the ASIA WWE version 28.707.2.1
Yes, have seen this alot... even caused a few non responsive crashes - requiring a battery pull to resolve...
This also happens when the phone is trying to read your sd card. I've been using a sd card that hasn't been formatted in a while, so last night I saved everything and formatted it. Since then, no problems.

I also experienced it. But will try formatting as Worldwide60 suggested.
Same here, ill give it a try too!

+1 also just changed to a fresh formatted 16 Gig Micro SD card still have the App Manager shutter
Swyped from HTC Pyramid, using XDA Premium App.
Anyone getting errors moving apps to sd using the application storage space saving feature? I select apps to move and it will move a few then tell me there is no more space on my sd card - there's 11gb free. I keep cycling through and it will move more but then it finally won't move any more. HTC is on some bull**** releasing this buggy crap.
I updated to 1.34.401.1 and this behavior is gone. All is normal.
Thought it was just me! Ill be waiting for the ota

Normal (but buggy) behaviour...my Nexus One did this too. I think it happens because I'm always trying to move apps to SD too fast.
edit: Now wife just complained about having to try twice or more on some of her apps!
I have the same problem too.Formatted my 16 gig class 6 card didn't help.oh well not a biggie for me,since i'm not experiencing any of the more serious/annoying issues many are reporting here....knocking on wood.

Internal SD Worries

So I was using my phone normally today, when I went to send an image via email I had located on the internal SD. To my surprise, I found that my internal SD was completely wiped with this everywhere (see attachment.)
I was using Weapon G2x 2.7 at the time. Any ideas as to what's happened?
Just thought I should add, my external SD was just fine.
It appears to be corrupt. Have you pulled the battery out while the file system was active?

I pulled it out while my battery "died" on Weapon because it refused to turn off at the T-Mobile screen, but I kind of doubt that was the cause. Oh well, I'm just hoping it doesn't happen in the future.

[Q] External SD Card won't mount [SOLVED]

I'm running the latest nightly of CM7. I tried swapping SD cards and when I tried remounting, it wouldn't mount. I booted into CWM to see if I could mount it from there, still wouldn't mount. My SD cards read just fine on my computer. My phone just refuses to mount.
Maybe your sdcard reader is damaged on the phone?
Sent from my LG-P920 using xda app-developers app
I think it is. Is there anything I can do to fix it?
Sent from my LG-P925 using xda app-developers app
Examine the pins carefully to see if any have cracked or become bent. If you notice one bent try to use something tiny and carefully straighten it out if possible and take your time so you don't cause further damage. It could also just be dirty causing bad contact with the pins and you should use rubbing alcohol and a q-tip to clean it with battery removed. A soft pencil eraser works well to clean pins also. Just lightly brush it lengthways down the pins and blow out anything that comes off. Those are really the only easy quick fixes, unless your comfortable with tearing down the phone and soldering tiny pins lol.
This is what it looks like even without an sd card in there. I tried cleaning it out, rebooted, and tried mounting in cwm, still nothing

See if your sdcard got formatted in a weird way to NTFS when you switched and formatted. It shouldn't be but just to make sure

I never formatted either of the sd cards though, all the data shows up fine on my computer. I think my phone thinks something is mounted. Is there a way to force it to unmount even when there is nothing currently in the reader?

Never mind! I did a couple of factory resets and dalvik cache wipes and it was good to go! Thanks guys
Btw mods, feel free to lock it up!

[Q] Frequent Reboots

Hi,
I've got a Desire S on stock ICS 4.0.4. The problem with the phone is that sometimes it reboots itself for no apparent reason.
The problem isn't new to me, it had the same problem on GB 2.3.5. It happens mostly in the same physical places in my house and on route to work.. strange!!!
Could a bad sd card be the cause?
Thanks in advance for your help.
Random reboots happen wery often due to so called:kernel's panic,..
when overload of the system is so great that it could not handle it anymore,
but may also be caused by the battery that is not sitting firmly in its place,
but then switches off by no apparent reason rather than reboots,
reboots may also be caused by some nasty process, that causes kernel to panic...
but stock manufacturer software is unlikely to contain such processes,
could it be an app you've installed perhaps,
or even a physical hardware part loosing the contact with motherboard/its part,, for a moment,
To diagnose it further- if a device is still stock and unlocked,
you could reflash ics ruu and leave it to work for a while clean,
without installing anything else.
While subject it to the conditions
in which reboots were happening before
I'm really hoping it isn't a hardware problem. The reboots happen the most when calling or just after a call, very annoying and the reason i gave the phone to my wife

The first thing to check, as suggested above, is the battery. These have a habit of not fitting firmly, so get a piece of paper, fold it in half twice, and leave it between the battery and the outer case when you insert the battery.
It may not be the cause, but it is the easiest thing to check.

Hardware problem does not necessarily mean a disaster and big costs,
it may just be a loose part,
but leaviing it as is, may lead to bigger troubles in the future,

I had exactly the same issue since I bought the device with different stock and custom software.
The solution in my case was to use only GSM (2G) or only WDCMA (3G) mode, not mixed. Hope this will help you too.

I'll try this. Will let you know if it works

Also please post the contents of the file /proc/last_kmsg after a reboot occurred.
e.g.:
Code:
adb shell cat /proc/last_kmsg>messages.txt
Is this a file i can access without root?

I'm having similar issues here with my Desire S, HTC ICS RUU Update Software, not rooted.
To summarize:
If I use the device with a SIM card in battery mode it reboots right after entering the PIN.
If I use the device without a SIM card in battery mode, everything works fine
If I use the device with a SIM card in charger mode, everything, including calls/text/3G Internet works fine
If I disconnect the charger and have a SIM inserted, my device reboots right away
If I use my device with networking mode "WCDMA only" in battery mode, everything works, but switch to "GSM only" or "Auto select" causes reboot
I tried 3 different SIM cards from two different carriers, hence it seems not to be related to my SIM card. I can also eliminate that this is SD card related, as I tried it with and without a SD card inserted without any difference. As the device is working in battery mode without a SIM card, I think the battery cannot be the reason either.
These reboots render my phone almost completely unusable, as using WCDMA only is not an option for me...
I must say that the gsm only mode did the trick. It's only been 3 days since but I'm hopefull
