[Q] External SD Card won't mount [SOLVED] - LG Optimus 3D

I'm running the latest nightly of CM7. I tried swapping SD cards and when I tried remounting, it wouldn't mount. I booted into CWM to see if I could mount it from there, still wouldn't mount. My SD cards read just fine on my computer. My phone just refuses to mount.

Maybe your sdcard reader is damaged on the phone?

I think it is. Is there anything I can do to fix it?

Examine the pins carefully to see if any have cracked or become bent. If you notice one bent try to use something tiny and carefully straighten it out if possible and take your time so you don't cause further damage. It could also just be dirty causing bad contact with the pins and you should use rubbing alcohol and a q-tip to clean it with battery removed. A soft pencil eraser works well to clean pins also. Just lightly brush it lengthways down the pins and blow out anything that comes off. Those are really the only easy quick fixes, unless your comfortable with tearing down the phone and soldering tiny pins lol.

This is what it looks like even without an sd card in there. I tried cleaning it out, rebooted, and tried mounting in cwm, still nothing

See if your sdcard got formatted in a weird way to NTFS when you switched and formatted. It shouldn't be but just to make sure

I never formatted either of the sd cards though, all the data shows up fine on my computer. I think my phone thinks something is mounted. Is there a way to force it to unmount even when there is nothing currently in the reader?

Any other ideas?

Never mind! I did a couple of factory resets and dalvik cache wipes and it was good to go! Thanks guys
Btw mods, feel free to lock it up!

Internal SD Worries

So I was using my phone normally today, when I went to send an image via email I had located on the internal SD. To my surprise, I found that my internal SD was completely wiped with this everywhere (see attachment.)
I was using Weapon G2x 2.7 at the time. Any ideas as to what's happened?
Just thought I should add, my external SD was just fine.
It appears to be corrupt. Have you pulled the battery out while the file system was active?

I pulled it out while my battery "died" on Weapon because it refused to turn off at the T-Mobile screen, but I kind of doubt that was the cause. Oh well, I'm just hoping it doesn't happen in the future.

Micro SD slot

I got my transformer yesterday. Best thing I've ever bought. However.....when inserting a SD into the slot. It won't recognise it properly. I have to use my finger to push it in a little more before it will accept it.
Is this a known problem? I will try another couple of SD cards later but don't want to have to have it repaired a day after getting it.

yes.. never insert or remove your card with power on... Cant cause corrupt to the card..
Thanks for that advice. It still doesn't explain whether there is a problem with the SD slot on the pad.
It shouldn't need pushing in further once the sd 'clips' have engaged.

i guess its the way the tablet was design.. u will get use to it...
also put it in slow cuz at times it seems has if im gonna break my card..
I don't think that I should have to get used to constantly pushing on the SD when I need to use it. Haha. Of o release my finger it won't read. It requires constant pressure. Hopefully its just that card. Thanks anyway.

This happened to me the first time, the card needs to go all way to the end but since it get the mechanism at half insert, it might look that its inserted correctly when it isnt.
I must just show its bare head (or bottom) in the side of the TF. If you find that pushing the card to the end, it doesn't stay there (it usually recoils a little), then maybe the mechanism of the slot is faulty (the spring might be loose).

Dropped phone in liquid

So I dropped my phone in a bowl of soup... Yes lmao! But anyways my back cover save it big time, only the top half of my phone when in, I pulled the battery off, sim card and sd card, wipe it and I checked it and both water marks are still white then I put it in a bag with rice. 24 hrs later I put the battery in, it turned on and everything works, except it was showing the headphones icon, I clean out the headphone hole again, turn it off, turn it back on and it was gone, I unroot it just incase it started to act up I could swap it out.( i have insurace) It's been a full day and no issues
OK so my question is should I root it again now or wait to see if something stops working? I think by now something should of been affected already but what do you think?
Sent from my LG-P999 using XDA App
if you have insurance and won't cost you anything to replace the phone, then use it.
Other than that, rooting or unrooting won't matter on a phone that's been dropped in water.

I'm sure he is asking about the rooting of the phone is cause trying to swap a phone with root/custom rom will not go well for him.

Sorry I guess I didn't make my question clear, what i was really asking was that my phone is working right now, but does my phone run a high risk of something going bad in the next few days or I'm just lucky and nothing broke?
Might be a dumb question but I never had any phone dropped in liquid so I'm not aware if the phone stops working right away or it takes a few days for it to go bad
Don't want to root and then something stops working and I won't be able to flash stock.
Sent from my LG-P999 using XDA App
I would try to root it, after all it's dry now and everything functions.
Thanks, I wasn't sure if it takes a while for the phone to malfunction or not lol.

My experience has been if it turns on the next day its all good for many more bowls of soup lol. Or washer and dryer like my olllld bb
Making bad decision's one at a time.
Lmao, I hope it don't happen again lol, but yea everything working good, I haven't tried hdmi output, don't have a cable and I never used it lol, so I'll keep this phone. (rooted of course lol) till some thing else goes wrong, then ill swap it out, thanks for the replies

[Q] Feeling Dirty?

I've been switching back and forth between a couple ROMs every so often. Every time I flash a new ROM, I do everything I can think of to start with a clean slate (g2x scrubber / nullifier), but I can't help but feel "dirty" even with the fresh ROM. Is there anything I can do to start off squeaky clean or is it all in my head?
Wash your phone with soap every time to get that squeaky clean feel

+1. I really suggest using something that's bleach free but has strong degreasing power. :good:
After you get rid of that "dirty feeling", stretch a condom onto the phone and use it with that on it.
EDIT:
A lubricated condom will give a "Butter" effect.
This has got to be the weirdest topic ive seen to date.
I bathe with my phone. It prefers bubble baths though i do not.

There are lots of folders leftover on my Internal SD for apps that I havent had for a long time. So if crap like that is leftover, what else is lingering that I don't know about? That's why it feels "dirty." lol

Most CM roms default to to using your external microSD card for system and apps. But under CWM /sdcard under mounts and storage is not your external. I had the same issue, so goto mounts and storage and format /sdcard.
You can also plug it in via usb before you wipe anything and just manually delete everything. Than you can also, if you have it, use a MicroSD adapter and format your external sd as well with windows. Make sure you copy off it what you want to save and copy back over your flashables for CWM. With CM7 you can goto phone settings, storage, than scroll down and select erase SD card, your internal is the one listed as additional storage /mnt/emmc.
Those are all the ways I've cleared the built-in internal storage.
