Really?? How come when Im in the setup wizard nothing comes up as ' activating'?
I don't know the technical aspects but when I needed a replacement they asked me why my phone was reactivated so much citing the exact dates and times. Fortunately it didn't prove that my phone was rooted because factory resets also force these so-called reactivations

HTC could have it designed to do that in the background, hidden. No need to display anything.
They do know what Rom you are running as well as the android version if I'm not mistaken... I'm not sure if its logged but they do know.

Just had to do a warranty claim the other night. (hardware issue) While on the phone and casually talking to the rep he asked why I didn't accept the newest update. Told them I have been ignoring it until I'm sure it wasn't going to add any major bugs to the already smooth running device. After some more chat I asked him what version their system showed I had, he said he didn't have that information, all he knew is that I had not accepted the update yet.
Hmm... I'll talk to my buddy
That works at the switch. Maybe he'll know. He's told me other stuff!
Sent from my ADR6400L using Tapatalk
It could have something to do with the level of CSA you are dealing with? Perhaps the frontline does not have access to that, but as you complain your way up the ladder, more and more info becomes available to the techs.
They might have a way of getting a confirmation that we accepted the OTA update. Just like receiving text or email confirmations. If we accept the OTA, Verizon might get a confirmation with our meids that we downloaded

More like the wrong carrier. (not that VZW doesn't have some kind of other bull hidden away in there)
In any case I remember someone posting in here WAYYY back that when on the phone with a CSR they were able to see that he was running DAS BAMF. Likely was a load of crap but its possible they can see something similar to what you see in the software portion of the about phone section.
Sent from my HTC Thunderbolt
More likely that they see an OTA has been sitting on their server waiting for the device. Most CSR's know very very little about phone software, and especially how to resolve issues other than recommending battery pulls and factory data resets. Higher level techs are much more knowledgeable and probably more intuitive. I could probably work for a company like Verizon, but I see no joy in that business.
Yeah bottom line techs are retarded. Guy I talked to didn't even know what a bootloader was.... sad...
Now that's sad.

So I finally had the power button sink down inside of my Thunderbolt, this is the second time it's happened in less then 20 days. Once again I sent HTC an email regarding the issue (as I did last time) but this time I recieved no help. So I called Verizon and spoke to a nice lady named Christine, who once I explained everything to her how the issue was known etc etc...
Verizon now has a reference number thats already ready in front of the reps thats strictly for this issue. I will recieve my "new phone" on Tuesday. Just wanted to post this so others who are having this isuue and even if you are out of your 14 days, even though you still have a 1 year manf. warranty, due to the high amounts of this issue, Verizon is not questioning this matter and will gladly set you up with a return.
Good luck guys!

Sent from my ADR6400L using XDA Premium App
If it's sitting lower than your volume button on the side of the phone, it's sunken in.
Mine is sunken in, but it doesn't bother me.. Doesn't effect the function at all and my case covers the button so it feels the same.
Well I'll be at verizon tomorrow

Yea I have noticed this as well. At first I was taking them seriously. Now its just too obvious.
The reference number for the insurance they have and its not "given out" to customers, it's used to easily process the claim and not ask 100 questions to you. Also make sure they don't "deactivate" your 4G Sim which they did mine, had to return to a Verizon store today to get another one. It has to have an active line, which this is what I was told. Either way I'm still expecting a new phone tomorrow, hopefully won't have this issues anymore.
And yes please make sure you un-root.
Cheers.

I received this link from my buddy who works internally for Verizon this morning, after i asked him about this two weeks ago as some rumors were floating around saying VZW would charge you full price if you rooted and needed a replacement

VZW may not check, but HTC probably will. HTC may be "root friendly" but they don't want bad press about their products, either. If HTC finds evidence of root, there is nothing to stop them from reporting that to VZW, who will likely charge you full retail price for the reburbished phone they sent you as a replacement.

Doesn't matter, cause the refurb centers can't charge you as well as there is no path for them to turn around and tell VZW that a device was rooted, once the receiving warehouse verifies the meid and the 3 physical checks its sent off to the refurb center to be taken apart, I worked for Big red for 6 years, once it leaves the receiving warehouse it's gone, so even if they (refurb center) did it wouldnt matter

It still amazes me that people think businesses won't protect themselves from scammers. They may not make it a priority to catch every single one, but spot checks will happen. It would be a really horrible business practice to allow everyone to scam you out of your own product.
Link all the articles you want, but when they show their numbers for Quarter/Year, they'll take note on how much money was lost to "defective" merchandise. If that number is abnormally high...your ass will be grass when they start investigating the new returns.

1.4 million customers and of that 260,000 thunderbolts.....of that 25,000 to 50,000 rooted, and that's a liberal number it's probably less, I'm no math major but I doubt there will be any major impact on "defective" merch and Verizon has an internal sop with equipment and issues, if the "defective" device replacements hits a certain %, the device moves to "end of life" and they stop carrying it, it's that simple, they're not going to investigate anything

Your internal friend gave you a link to an android blog site...
cool story bro
I just finished doing a satisfaction survey about my One S. It asks how you like it, what made you buy it and things you don't like about it. I made it pretty clear I wasn't satisfied with this phone the way it is now. The bloatware, the signal problems, the gps jumping all over the place and the wifi/4g bug after the newest update.
After I was done with the survey I qulified for a moderated forum, I must attend the forum for 3 days straight, twice a day for a total of 30-60 minutes. I will receive a $50 voucher once completed, the forum will be announced at a future date.
DO THE SURVEY, LET THEM KNOW WE DON'T WANT THE BLOATWARE AND THAT THE UPDATE SCREWED THE PHONE UP.
I got that survey also. And I let them know about all the bloat as well
Sent from my HTC One S
Same here, and let loose with both guns about the bloatware, and how I feel about their capping data, but also installing apps that can't be disabled that use data.
At the end I was told I qualified for a follow up study I would be paid $50 to complete. Anyone else get that? I haven't been sent the info on the study yet, though.

I haven't. Sure was nice of them to get our hopes up. Of course, I haven't gotten my $50 rebate or the $100 for trading in my Shadow II yet either. I'm about ready to try the GS3 (maybe it will actually do some things properly) so add all my One S accessories to the list, and this has turned into a very expensive lesson (along the lines of: The HD2 must be the exception, cause HTC + Tmobile = Fail).
Nope. Me neither. I gave them a call and i was told if i don't receive by the end of the month(steadily approaching) to call back and they will get it situated. Other than that. No help. Seemed like they didn't even have access to any basic information.

This has happened to me also. Worked for awhile, I even used it once, now the option no longer appears.
So I called Verizon and the rep I talked to told me that they do not have and never have had carrier billing. I tried to tell her that they do have it, I've used it and have my receipt AND mentioned the FAQ about it on the Verizon site. She was still adamant that they do not do carrier billing and would not budge on the subject.
Next I sent them an e-mail. Three days later they responded and asked to call me. The rep who called me told me they DID have carrier billing but it was a glitch and they fixed it so it wouldn't show up any more after the latest update. This didn't seem right to me so I looked for other options.
Next I tried contacting the Verizon Support twitter account. These guys actually seemed to know what they were talking about. They confirmed that Verizon DOES have carrier billing, it IS available for the S III and that the other reps were incorrect when they told me otherwise. We spent a whole day going back and forth with them asking questions and trying things on their end to get it to work, but ultimately they were unsuccessful and admitted they had no idea why it isn't working for me.
So basically I'm back to square one. Any other information anyone comes up with would be GREATLY appreciated!

We spent a whole day going back and forth with them asking questions and trying things on their end to get it to work, but ultimately they were unsuccessful and admitted they had no idea why it isn't working for me.
So basically I'm back to square one. Any other information anyone comes up with would be GREATLY

They might help

Works fine for me. Lol. Sounds like an isolated issue.

I didn't even know you could do this so I tried it and the option is there it just won't let me select it. I'm on synergy 147.

I have to bump this. Anyone have any idea what happened. its been gone for me since December. I've been back to stock too beats me.
Ok I read somewhere on here to delete your google account and open a new one and viola I can bill verizon. maybe it has to do with my old google account being tied to sprint I don't know. I really don't want to repurchase all my apps though If anyone has some input it would be appreciated.
I've only ever had verizon and it still does it to me. Not a happy customer and their support never figured it out either.

So I just added another account to the play store. In which carrier billing is there. Any app you buy on your new account is saved to your phone. You can easily switch between both in the settings menu of the playstore. Why this new one works I have no idea.

That's awesome! Though, I don't think anyone looking for a new S4 should count on MDL phones as even a remote possibility. You probably got one of the last MDL phones outside of the used market.

Yes, definitely. On the side of the box with all of the barcodes. It will say the firmware version.

I just called AT&T about my speratic reboots on my phone. He did some reset on his end, he told me it might have fixed it. I told him if I elected to have it replaced could I request a replacement phone with firmware MDL? He said that's a different department but he recommend that I go to my local store and have it replaced there if I choose that route. The odds that the store has one is quite slim I'm sure but worth the time since I see that ppl still manage to get one from time to time. First thing I guess I'd need to do is remove root from my current phone, head over, tell them my issue, refuse a master reset (last time they reset my phone I lost everything, including my sdcard...never again). They should then offer me a replacement, I ask for a MDL model, I tell them how to tell. If they don't have any which I'm sure they don't, would I receive another MF3? My store is actually pretty cool, I may just walk in an ask if they have any MDL's...if so than I'll about getting an exchange.

The more I think about it, really whats the point. I asked here the other day "is locked boots the new norm" all so far have said yes, as far as version and AT&T goes. Even if I get a MDL model, im still getting an upgrade next summer...Ill have the same issue then as I'm sure we all will. Its a dark time. I'm sure we'll always have root but flashing custom Roms is what we all what (safe assumption). If this is the case and the modding community is as large as I think it is, I see the 2 carries taking a large hit in sales due to their nonsence. Sorry guys, had to vent
