[Q] Unlimited Family Plan Account Holder Can Read Text? - T-Mobile Sidekick 4G

So I just received the T-Mobile SK4G for myself and my entire family all on one account for the family unlimited plan. For every phone added the billing price every month for each added line was cheaper. But what I would like to know is, would the main account holder be able to go online or on their phone and check the contents of text messages sent and received to all the "sub" phone lines on the account.
Like would the account holder be able to read the actual messages and the messages from the person who sent a text to the phone?
I've been hearing mixed answers about it is and isn't possible and I thought that there's no better people to ask than people who are on the network themselves

No, you can see to whom (or from whom) the text was sent and/or received. You can also allot a number of minutes and texts (and even the amount of money spent on downloads of ringtones and apps) with Family Allowances. I do not believe, short of putting some kind of (ILLEGAL) snooping app on the phone
that you can read contents of texts.
Just to explain I am the account holder for three different accounts, one with four lines, one with two and, one with one. I can't see the contents (nor do I want too) of texts. I can only see when and to whom they were sent to or received from.
Definitely NOT being sent from my HTC Amaze4G until Christmas Day.....

Main account holder cannot read text , they could only view number's that you have called .

Thanks for that tad bit of info and Revolution thanks for the rom

No problem , which ROM are you running of mine ?

SMS/Text bomb website?

So I came across this website and I was considering using it to mess with friends and maybe a few d-bags, but I was wondering if it could be considered harassment legally? Or could it even be traced to my IP? In the rules it mentions no threats and I wasn't planning on it, but it would be fun to annoy some people.

Any thoughts?
nobody has any input?
I would advise against it for numerous reasons. Most isp's backlog dhcp records for 180 days. While it would be fun to mess with your friends their retaliation would be swift! Best wishes.

I say go for it, but choose your victims wisely and keep it light-hearted.

It is legal, however, if you take it too far it could be construed as harassment. My advice, keep it light hearted and chose your victims wisely. I used a bomb app on my phone with a couple friends before, its funny but it could get out of hand.
EDIT: I thought of something after I posted, I wonder if you could be held financially responsible if the person receiving didn't have unlimited texts (if such a person even exists anymore). Be careful is my advice.

Why would the recipient need to have unlimited texts?
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App
The recipient is going to get bombarded with texts so I would hope they have unlimited messages.
I would be careful doing something like this.
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
Haha, I didn't even think of that. Can you imagine if you sent like 300 texts to someone with pay-per-use? That would be at least $30-$60 every time you did that. That's a really good point.
Woah. I would hate this website if someone used it on me.
Ok so what if I am not on a contract and I have no more credit and someone sent all these texts? What would happen?

According to their site it's USA and Canada only, I guess that's both to and from, in that case I don't see any way that the recipient could be charged (unless their carrier charges them for receiving texts whilst roaming or something).

Well, it would probably eat up any remaining credit you had and then just stop sending, or maybe it just wouldn't send at all. But if you're not in contract with anyone then I don't see how they could pursue charges. You could just switch to another carrier.

The only other thing the carrier could do is the next time you added funds to your account they could deduct the amount remaining that you owed before you ran out of funds (ie you have twenty dollars available, someone text bombs you costing thirty dollars, then later you add twenty five, the carrier deducts the ten you previously owed and you are left with only fifteen) Sorry if I ran on to long...

A site I use frequently is:
www.smsglobal.com
You can send from any number you want to any number you want. You can even put a name in the from field for jokes...
Will someone *please* explain how you will be charged for *receiving* texts.
If you do not have a text plan (ie 200 a month, unlimited..) You are charged for texts. T-mobile, for one, does charge 0.20 for each incoming AND outgoing text. Especially on pre paid plans...

Is that from international numbers only?
Nope. That also includes domestic texts. If you do not have a plan that covers texting either included like sprint or an add on like I have with T-Mobile, you can be charged for every message sent and/or received. Prices vary by plan, and/or carrier.

i just use an app called SMS barrage on my droid. messed up once, set it to send 1000 messages to my friend saying hello... didnt realize her husband had her phone, and they were only allotted 200 texts a month... I ended up sending them the money for the texts. seemed only fair.
Nice site here. Too bad only for US/Canada.

The quality of my life would be greatly reduced if I did not have nostrils.
Edit.. well so u decided to give them a call to see what they had to say for themselves the Guy picked up and said how may I help u so I said very loudly had rude " why am I getting 3-4 calls a day from y'all asking for another person" so then he said alright let me look up your number on the computer so he put me on hold for about 20min so I gave up not wanting to waste anymore of my landline minutes. So then I called sprint (my carrier) and explained my situation and they said they could help me and I gave them the five different numbers they were trying to call from and they can completely block those numbers and the change will take place within 22-72 hrs so hopefully that'll work and sprint was very nice to me during this
Sent from my HTC Hero CDMA using XDA App
So hopefully y'all can do the same thing just call your carrier and give them the numbers and they should be able to block them also the black list apps don't work very well because the calls still come through but they hang up

Edit again look up bcr collection agency and look at the number of complaints against them its pretty bad lol
Sent from my HTC Hero CDMA using XDA App
1) If you're told by a person not to call their private home phone number, you cannot legally keep calling them. No debtor needs to send you a cease and desist letter for that.
5) My last piece of advice is to contact your states Attorney General's office the first time you get a call from BCR to record and file a complaint against them.

it also qualifies as harassment if their told not to and do it afterwards , just report these goons
btw real collection agencies stop calling if u tell them not to (even tho the case of collection still goes continues) , theres no excuse to doing this
And the bad part is I don't even have a credit card and there calling me asking for someone else so hopefully sprint will be able to take care of it within the next 52 hrs and the Guy was pretty nice to me and understood what was happening to me so if that dosnt work I probably will take legal action apparently these ppl have been doing this for years because some of the complaints say they were calling about debts the person paid of five or six years ago

If you didn't sign for either and they were just left on your door, then you have a question to ask yourself
Are you a person concerned with "Ethics"? If so test both, see which one has less bugs and screen bleed, then send back your original and the lesser of the two replacements
If not, call T-Mobile and check your order history WITHOUT mentioning you got two G2X replacements, and ask for tracking numbers associated to any orders including warranty replacements.
If only one G2X order exists in the system, match the tracking number to its phone and use only THAT phone never turning on the other one
Get a replacement battery cover from LG, a charger and battery online, sell as new no box on Craigslist with a prepaid number, delete the ad and email, throw the prepaid sim away, profit.
Mail the extra one to me. :O

If it uses your mobile data most people will be paying for that as on contract here in uk I pay extra for 500mb data.
It looks a nice idea but too many users say it has a low sms limit and fails to send to non app users and that messages can dissappear.
Also it still must go through a companies web server somewhere and I would rather trust my carrier who is bound by data protection act than an unknown source in another country that is not bound by same laws and could sell details for advertising lists.

I never said he or the company were only that they could if they choose sell details to advertisers as many companies do. For me it is not of use personally as if sms uses mobile data it would mean risk of incurring carrier charges if use my data limit so for me could only be used at home.

I think you misunderstood me. Selling numbers or usage data to advertisers is a legal practice many do in order to make additional income and is also done with email addresses. I was not saying they were a scam at all.
As regards his payout if he is one individual who sold the company how does his reputation however good mean the company he sold won't sell details? Surely that sort of thing is a board decision and so he would not make that on his own.
What I mean is no its not a scam, but also his reputation does not make company policy and so yes they could explore the additional legal practice of selling information as many companies do.

[Q] Tricky question about charges??????

Who agree's that wireless bills are way to expensive and the taxes are outrageous????
Hey Everyone,
I have a tough one here, at least for me.Question is am I getting charged for texting using "GO keyboard"? I am no longer grandfathered in with Verizon's unlimited data plan and need to know how to distinguish between a text message and an Instant message. With Verizon you get charged for anything data which does include IM to the best of my knowledge.
So am I getting charged by using the Go keyboard which does come with themes or NOT? If you need more info from me please ask and if I put this thread in the wrong location I apologize and will put it in it's appropriate place if told where.
I think I have rambled enough...Thank you in advance...I do have to say that verizon is a good carrier in my area but for the love of god why is everything on the bill so foreign????????????????????????????
Please read question...
