[Q] Root METROPCS htc wildfire s - General Questions and Answers

I've been looking every where for the answer to my post, does the methods below work for metro pcs or is it just for t-mobile, virgin mobile, etc.?

I'm coming from the droid x world of rooting and flashing so this is new to me and not taking chances of bricking
Sorry if this question has been asked or answered, but I couldn't find it and I'm tired of looking, so a simple yes or no to this question would be great, thanks

this is how i accomplished S-OFF & Recovery with my Metro Wildfire S
http://androidforums.com/wildfire-s...a-wildfire-s-s-off-other-great-tutorials.html
however for root i followed this guide since 1 click would not work for me.

i know its intended for the virgin mobile version but it worked for the metro variant as well. FLASH AT YOUR OWN RISK THOUGH.

Rooting/hacking the T-Mo One S?

So I'm hearing that the international version and the US T-Mo version are different, and it's easy to brick the T-Mo version if you use the intl guide for rooting.
Can someone please be clear about what needs to be done for rooting the T-Mo variant? This is serious business, messing with a brand new phone on a 2 yr contract.

Anyone know how to root the T-Mo HTC One S yet?
Personally, I'm not looking to install ROMs, I just want root, so I can use Titanium to back up apps and appdata and maybe a couple of other things that require root.

Same here. I'm not ready for ROMs quite yet, despite coming from daily flashes of CM9/AOKP on my Nexus S, but I'd sure as hell like to get root and get rid of all this godawful T-Mo bloatware, at the very least.
how can using root for international version brick the tmobile version ??
its not possible, the only way you brick your phone is by not following the instructions

I read a post in the developer section where someone said it was a different process. Maybe a bit more clarification is all we need. Coming from a T989 if I tried to use an international root method this would not go so good..
I just got my t-mobile one s.. Unlocked bootloader- flashed the recovery- then installed su... No problems.
I'm wondering the same. How different is different? I got the GSII for tmobile and buyers remorsed when I quickly realized there was hardly any rom support because of how different it was from the International version. I'm coming from the Vibrant community where variants were heavy but most things were relatively similar in the end. This makes me wonder if each different One S needs its own thread like the Galaxy S series.

I think you must have read something different. It's absolutely not any easier to brick the T-mo version. You must be mistaken. It's actually hard to brick (as in impossible to recover) a phone if your not messing with the radio.

You just have to follow the guides.
Unlock the bootloader using this tool: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1604677
After that I used the superboot file found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1577831
Now your phones rooted.
If you want to install a custom recovery I could only get the "Interim Touch (Custom CWM)" found in the all in one tool to stick.

[Q] Question about 1.85 one click root instructions

Hi there,
Quick newbie question. the following thread ( whicb I cnnot yet post into) detials a way of 1-click rooting a 1.85 device. However, it mentions AT&T. Can someone please confirm this will work on the international version of the HTC One X as well as I have one on the Orange network in the Uk. I just wanted to make sure these instructions are not US handset specific.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1709424
Secondly, the page suggests I unlock the bootloader aftrewads. Is that 100% required as i have no plans on using custom roms, i just want to be able to use things like Titanium Backup in the full root mode.
R
It will work only on AT&T model as it depends on the AT&T update servers!
Ah, thank you. Good job I didnt give it a try then.
Is there a One-click for the international model? I couldn't see one.
R
You're in the wrong forum. The versions (Tegra 3 versus Snapdragon S4) have been organized into separate forums to avoid confusion. Lots of things here will brick your phone if install them on the wrong version.

Metro as in MetroPCS? If so, MetroPCS only works with CDMA phones. The Glacier/MyTouch 4G is a GSM phone.
so basically there is nothing to be done lol....well anyways, i have the MAXX for VZW and originally it was CDMA but as of last month the ICS ota came through and now its GSM capable...so can i swap my sim to the mytouch just for ****s....if so, how do i unlock it and root ?

Mod Edit: Do not flame..
If you are on Gingerbread, you'll need to downgrade to FroYo to root. Go here.
Once on Froyo, use this to attain S-Off.
Then flash a custom recovery like Clockworkmod or 4EXT (my favorite) and flash away.
If you ask what the best ROM is I'll find you and stab you to death It will be out of kindness, I assure you.
The above statement is probably against the rules and may get me an infraction. :fingers-crossed:
Cheers!

Also guys you know the rules do not be rude to new members... You know the rules. Last warning..

[Q] Unlocked inspire 4g

Ok, I posted a question here yesterday which a mod locked and I'm not sure why since my questions asked two questions and the thread was locked only with the response we don't really do best roms here.
I was more concerned about the unlocked portion of the question. I bought an Inspire 4G unlocked. I am able to insert a SIM from another provider into it and it works; however, I want to root it and install a custom rom on it. In rooting it am I going to lose it being unlocked and have to unlock it again?
Also having problems finding a simple link to all the ROMs like I did when I flashed my thunderbolt.

No, simunlock has nothing to do with root. Once your device was unlocked by IMEI you do not lose that.
Thank you

Restrore HTC One M8 to stock - PLEASE HELP

Straight to the point. I have an HTC One M8 (Verizon) and it currently is running Android 6.0 with sense 7.0 / S-On / NON ROOTED
I wish to get rid of ALL Verizon Bloatware and stupid apps that come installed with it. And install the android marshmallow ROM that would come stock on a NON BRANDED M8
Could somebody please reply with a STEP BY STEP easy to follow set of instructions on what I need to do to achieve this.
like using Sunshine to get s-off and rooted. And links to an Official ROM and all that stuff.
And a question. . . . .Will my NON-VERIZON SIM still work after such a procedure? and will mobile data work (without configuring the GSM settings, which I had to do when I first got it)?
I am in New Zealand if that affects anything.
If somebody is willing to help me out I will be most thankful
LOL they're gonna just tell you to search and do some reading since everything you need is already on here.
