Ok, I posted a question here yesterday which a mod locked and I'm not sure why since my questions asked two questions and the thread was locked only with the response we don't really do best roms here.
I was more concerned about the unlocked portion of the question. I bought an Inspire 4G unlocked. I am able to insert a SIM from another provider into it and it works; however, I want to root it and install a custom rom on it. In rooting it am I going to lose it being unlocked and have to unlock it again?
Also having problems finding a simple link to all the ROMs like I did when I flashed my thunderbolt.

No, simunlock has nothing to do with root. Once your device was unlocked by IMEI you do not lose that.
Thank you

I4G can use DHD ROMs. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2002349

Hello everyone, how do you unlock SFR?
sorry if my question is stupid, but what do you mean by SFR?
Isn't it a frensh provider?
should be determined with a sim lock
If you want to get rid of your mobile operator limitations you have to flash a debranded rom on your device. You can choose to have stock, rooted stock or custom - according to your needs.
Here you can find all the necessary guides, files and tools.
Good luck
I do not think that's enough to change rom to use any sim
Sorry I misunderstood your question.
In your case as far as I know there is no software way to do this yet, except the unlocking websites (but probably you already know that)
It should be a desire for something like this but I know right?

Maybe somebody try the first method? I have no root

As said before, no software way has been found yet for the Desire S...
However, there's the hardware way... You can easily remove Simlock with XTC Clip. This will also S-off your device (needed for root).
So... Look for somebody nearby with an XTC Clip! There's a list of XTC owners on this site somewhere, not in the Desire S forum though.

Hey CrazyAngel1990
If you still have the SIM lock take a look at this thread
Hi, I have recently come into possession of a carrier locked gingerbread tmobile sensation. What I want to do is unlock the phone, but keep it stock so it can still recieve ota updates.
My question is, what is the best way to do this?
If I root and unlock and put it in s-off stock, will it still receive ota updates? Will the updates function normally? Will they interfere with s-off/s-on or remove root?
If so, which is the best method of unlocking?
My goal is to carrier unlock the phone and keep it as stock as possible.
Im sorry if these may seem like dumb questions but I did my research before and everything was still unclear to me.
Thank you
You should S-OFF and SuperCID

If you want to unlock networks you will have to get root iirc. There is a thread titled unlock all sensations for free

Metro as in MetroPCS? If so, MetroPCS only works with CDMA phones. The Glacier/MyTouch 4G is a GSM phone.
so basically there is nothing to be done lol....well anyways, i have the MAXX for VZW and originally it was CDMA but as of last month the ICS ota came through and now its GSM capable...so can i swap my sim to the mytouch just for ****s....if so, how do i unlock it and root ?

Mod Edit: Do not flame..
If you are on Gingerbread, you'll need to downgrade to FroYo to root. Go here.
Once on Froyo, use this to attain S-Off.
Then flash a custom recovery like Clockworkmod or 4EXT (my favorite) and flash away.
If you ask what the best ROM is I'll find you and stab you to death It will be out of kindness, I assure you.
The above statement is probably against the rules and may get me an infraction. :fingers-crossed:
Cheers!

hi guys,
I recently bought an AT&T One X w/ 2.20 firmware.
just wanted to know if I can flash any ROMs on the 2.20 firmware ? I'm a little confused between what is possible and what is not.
If I can flash ROMs, then I possibly dont want to root/unlock. If not, Can I unlock the 2.20 firmware using HTC-Dev (warranty voided) ? I cant seem to find One X in the dropdown at http://htcdev.com/bootloader/
Could somebody help ?

Nope. You can enjoy the phone as stock and that's all. No root, no custom roms

Simple, you can't do jack if your phone was shipped with 2.20.
Since AT&T is not allowing the bootloader to be unlocked by HTCDev.com. The workaround was to change the CID to SuperCID and fool the system, but root is needed to do that.
So you are out of luck until either a root is found for 2.20, or AT&T allows the bootloader to be unlocked. Or if S-Off is achieved.
OK. I got confused because there were all these articles that talked about unlocking the bootloader using HTCDev.
Nothing i didnt expect - any ideas on when HTC will allow bootloader unlock? Im assuming that the launch of One X+ makes this old enough to be let free

Hard to say, its all about what AT&T wants. All other carriers are bootloader unlockable out of the box. Its not based on any set policy, and AT&T has not made any announcement on when (if ever) they will allow it to be unlocked. They did a similar thing with the HTC Vivid. But allowed it to be unlocked about 3 months after the phone was released. That time period has long come and gone (One X was released in early May).

There is no bootloader unlock for this phone that's why you can't find it. All the information you need to get started flashing is in the development section. Most, if not all, ROMs have detailed instructions in the op of each thread. Basically you need root, a recovery app called Boot Menu Manager (or BMM for short) that is more like a boot hijack, the ROM zip you want to flash and some info on flashing an FXZ in case you get into trouble. Be sure to read the thread detailing how to use BMM successfully and follow the directions in the ROM thread as to which system(s) the ROM can be flashed on (you can multiboot up to 5 different ROMs with BMM). Be safe through reading/researching, have fun, and welcome to the community!
If I had a dollar for every time I said that, I'd be making money in a very weird way.
No.. We cant unlock bootloader.. Thats how we roll..XD.. But I think its a general.. Atrix 2 stuck with locked bootloader.. in development section.. Theres too many thread on custom Rom and how to install it.. Good luck..
