Unlock SFR - HTC Desire S

Hello everyone, how do you unlock SFR?

sorry if my question is stupid, but what do you mean by SFR?

Isn't it a frensh provider?

should be determined with a sim lock

If you want to get rid of your mobile operator limitations you have to flash a debranded rom on your device. You can choose to have stock, rooted stock or custom - according to your needs.
Here you can find all the necessary guides, files and tools.
Good luck

I do not think that's enough to change rom to use any sim

Sorry I misunderstood your question.
In your case as far as I know there is no software way to do this yet, except the unlocking websites (but probably you already know that)

It should be a desire for something like this but I know right?

Maybe somebody try the first method? I have no root

As said before, no software way has been found yet for the Desire S...
However, there's the hardware way... You can easily remove Simlock with XTC Clip. This will also S-off your device (needed for root).
So... Look for somebody nearby with an XTC Clip! There's a list of XTC owners on this site somewhere, not in the Desire S forum though.

You don't achieve root using the XTC Clip, but, currently the only way to make you phone root is to first make it S-OFF (using XTC clip)
1 Yes - you invalidate your warranty and I don't believe that you can S-ON again.
2 The XTC clip route to S-OFF appears to safe, although you perform it completely at your own risk! to indicate how safe I intend to get my phone done by this route next week.
3 Not currently, people are working on a software method for this phone and Incredible S but haven't got there as yet.
4 If you mean, can you use the same XTC clip device for the older DESIRE as the DESIRE S the answer is yes, although I believe that you need the latest firmware/drivers for the XTC clip in order to get DESIRE S support.

No. It's only way (at the moment)
Although I know that I've read other posts of many Indian users with DESIRE S that are also looking for XTC in India and were talking about going in together to purchase one, but I can't remember whether they were in this forum, the Desire S Android Dev one or in one of the Incredible S forums..
So best you start looking/reading and then contact one of them directlt... best of luck.

XTC clips....please read

Hello all,
Everyday I see new threads on the XTC clip...which clutter this forum
Rather than all individually creating a new post saying XTC-Clip needed here or here.. Please first read and then post in the already existing thread (see the first URL below) which is created in another forum and may well already contain your answer. You may also find the information below useful.
INFO:
The xtc device works on nearly all htc phones. Most phones come by default as S-ON (security on). Currently the xtc clip hardware device is the only method to make your phone S-OFF, this is the first stage to making your device root and being able to instal custom roms. People are currently working on creating a software method to achieve S-off but this is not yet possible.
Using the xtc device will invalidate the warranty of your phone and cannot be reversed, so be sure you fully understand what you are doing.
If you are still unsure as to what a XTC-Clip is, or what the terms S-ON, S-OFF or root mean then please try googling these things and reading before asking.

Moderator: any chance off making this a sticky?
nice post dude..
it's better to make s-off / s-on in one thread.
vote this thread for STICKY
But why is it that in old Desire which has an S-ON, can be rooted?
Now with the Desire S, it's impossible (for now). And the only redemption is this XTC Clip thingy.
Because htc in their wisdom choose to instal signed boot loaders

Sorry double post
Quick question regarding the xtc clip, my desire s was bought sim free so already unlocked for any network but still s on. If i go to a shop with an xtc clip and ask them to unlock my already unlocked phone will that make it s off? Or is the process with the xtc clip different?
this is very nice thread about s-off by l0st.prophet

read it to know all the things about s-off, bootloader, etc.

i wouldn't use xtc clip if i were you. If you can, return it. The method is outdated now.

Ah sorry. Yeah its probably the best way to do that. I was referring to S-OFF. However, sometimes networks unlock the phone for free

Rooting htc deaire s on hboot 2.00.00.2

Hi Guys,
I am running my phone on android 2.3.5 and hboot version 2.00.00.2. I was exploring on the net, how to root android but could just find that the hboot version on htc desire s has to be 0.98.0000 which is suported on revolution.io website. Is there any other way to s-off my phone to go for rooting.
Thanks in advance for your help.

unlock your bootloader via htcdev site
and than just flash superuser from recovery
Hi guys, I don't mean to hijack the thread, but just to avoid making an unnecessary one, I thought I'd ask my question here.
I've been looking at htcdev, and I understand that it doesn't officially support the ds, but it works. It's probably a stupid noob question, but assuming I select 'desire' on HTC's drop down menu, how imperative is it that I get the exact RUU? There isn't one listed for my provider (o2 uk). Googling, and searching on a few forums has turned up nothing, but my software details are:
2.3.5 with sense 3.0
Soft. Num. 2.10.401.8
I was under the impression the 3 digit string pertained to the provider, and o2 tends to use x.xx.701.x.
Is it completely necessary to find a specific RUU, or is the region the only real important factor? Would the HTC eu one be suitable?
Thanks in advance for your help guys. Never got.round to rooting my old desire, but 'upgraded' to the s before I realised it wasn't as easy to root!

Scrap that.....found it! Must've been search result blind in the end! Sorry for the interruption guys!

Guide for what i did to my htc desire s and now its unlocked

hey guys and girls,
i know alot of people are having problems unlocking their htc desire s but i'm going to explain what i did and it now works on all networks after being locked to vodafone
so got my phone about a month ago and wanted to use a custom rom as it had the new 2.00.0002 bootloader i knew its not possible to s-off so i downloaded the ruu as shown here http://rapidshare.com/files/1177021...5AU_3805.06.02.03_M_release_199410_signed.rar
after this i used revolutionary to s-off as it had the 0.98 bootloader and it installed clockworkmod. (all good so far)
then i decided to go with one of the custom roms to which my first custom rom was this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1374845 since then i've installed many other roms to test out and to my amazement its not network locked. i believe since i installed a htc desire s (saga ) europe ruu it has never since asked me for any unlock code when i've tried different seems even tho being locked to vodafone to begin with when i first bought it. if any of you have had the luck that i had please share it.
this is for some people who if done right, can unlock their htc desire s for absolutely nothing.
please if you dont believe me relock your phone and try it and let me know how you get on but im 100% positive that this works as i have done it 3 times now
This did not work for my phone. I'm having to go down the XTC Clip route.
Not all phones is locked by Vodafone UK...especially when they are midrange phone as far as I know not all.devices is locked by voda

I hear u on that I mean my blackberry was locked same way this was but for some reason this method worked for me :s. Anyway I suppose just because it worked for me doesn't mean it will work for others but thought I would share anyway

[Q] Unlocked inspire 4g

Ok, I posted a question here yesterday which a mod locked and I'm not sure why since my questions asked two questions and the thread was locked only with the response we don't really do best roms here.
I was more concerned about the unlocked portion of the question. I bought an Inspire 4G unlocked. I am able to insert a SIM from another provider into it and it works; however, I want to root it and install a custom rom on it. In rooting it am I going to lose it being unlocked and have to unlock it again?
Also having problems finding a simple link to all the ROMs like I did when I flashed my thunderbolt.

No, simunlock has nothing to do with root. Once your device was unlocked by IMEI you do not lose that.
Thank you
