Rooting htc deaire s on hboot 2.00.00.2 - HTC Desire S

Hi Guys,
I am running my phone on android 2.3.5 and hboot version 2.00.00.2. I was exploring on the net, how to root android but could just find that the hboot version on htc desire s has to be 0.98.0000 which is suported on revolution.io website. Is there any other way to s-off my phone to go for rooting.
Thanks in advance for your help.

unlock your bootloader via htcdev site
and than just flash superuser from recovery

Hi guys, I don't mean to hijack the thread, but just to avoid making an unnecessary one, I thought I'd ask my question here.
I've been looking at htcdev, and I understand that it doesn't officially support the ds, but it works. It's probably a stupid noob question, but assuming I select 'desire' on HTC's drop down menu, how imperative is it that I get the exact RUU? There isn't one listed for my provider (o2 uk). Googling, and searching on a few forums has turned up nothing, but my software details are:
2.3.5 with sense 3.0
Soft. Num. 2.10.401.8
I was under the impression the 3 digit string pertained to the provider, and o2 tends to use x.xx.701.x.
Is it completely necessary to find a specific RUU, or is the region the only real important factor? Would the HTC eu one be suitable?
Thanks in advance for your help guys. Never got.round to rooting my old desire, but 'upgraded' to the s before I realised it wasn't as easy to root!

Waht kind of crap?
Bootanimation/splash is hard to remove.
To delete apps from Vodafon or apps from htc (amazonmp3, navi preinstalled) you have to root - after rooting they are "normal" apps to uninstall.
root:
1) s-off your phone (should have be done with your gaoldcard)
2) search for onclickroot here on xda
done
Hmm.. is your desire s s-off? If yes then just flash the original HTC ROM Ruu! Just look it up in this forum! For me it worked well! Even my T-Mobile splashscreen disappeared!

When is sum1 gonna either find a way to s-off desire s so that i can try the roms or maybe root it with s-on cos still you can flash without a problem...
M getting impatient now...

HBOOT 2..00.0002
radio-3822.10.08.04_M
eMMC-boot
aug 22 2011
i want to flash stock europe rom with all languages, ive been searching this forum, but im not sure what to do... please advise me.
thank you
tried ship saga rom RUU_Saga_S_HTC_Europe_2.10.401.9_Radio_20.4801.30.0822U_3822.10.08.04_M_release_234765_signed didnĀ“t work-->error
i have created goldcard, but im not sure what to do.. if I need s-off or root...
Just install the ics ruu off the hec dev website. That will remove the branding.
But unfortunately HTCDEV ICS for desire S has bugs... like link clicks on SMS and other stuff, from what i have read.
It is not possible just to install a WWE rru like "RUU_Saga_S_HTC_Europe_2.10.401.9_Radio_20.4801.30. 0822U_3822.10.08.04_M_release_234765_signed" with the a goldcard inserted on the phone? If what it is needed is just to unbrand the phone, without having root or other stuff... or is it need to Hboot S-OFF unlock from HTCDEV? please advise.

Edit: from fastboot i got CId = VODAPD18 which it means Vodafone Portugal. Is it possible to run above RRU + goldcard with no / little risk of bricking ?

Debrand possible after s-off?

Hi guys.
Currently have a dhd but o2 have offered me an early upgrade.
So I'm getting a Sensation next week. In the past they've sent me unbranded handsets & some branded.
Just wondered that once the s-off method has been made public, would one still be able to Debrand & use custom roms as I have been on dhd?
My apologies for the lack of knowledge. Just that I've not had to make goldcards etc on dhd as that came unbranded from o2.
I'm sure someone will make a guide etc.. Xda is very helpful like that
Thanks Y'all
AJ.

After S-OFF you can flash any rom you like, so you can definately debrand your phone.
The only branding on my o2 sensation was the wallpaper, I haven't checked the simlock yet but I assume its locked to o2

Normally at germany HTC sim lock isnt allowed. I believe its the same for Eu devices

Hi guys what I mean is o2 & other networks have a different software number to the official htc one.
So even if I do have an o2 branded handset, once the s-off method is here can I just proceed with goldcard, then downgrade & straight into a LeeDrOiD rom?
I was lucky with my dhd from o2 as this one kept the original htc software version & not o2's own.
Thank you for the advice & help guys =)
I was so happy when phones4u gave me an unbranded one! Orange generally put loads of ****e on the phones!

We don't know the process yet. Downgrade was specific to dhd for an exploit for radio s off.
Simply put though, once you have s off you can flash any rom.

Unlock SFR

Hello everyone, how do you unlock SFR?
sorry if my question is stupid, but what do you mean by SFR?
Isn't it a frensh provider?
should be determined with a sim lock
If you want to get rid of your mobile operator limitations you have to flash a debranded rom on your device. You can choose to have stock, rooted stock or custom - according to your needs.
Here you can find all the necessary guides, files and tools.
Good luck
I do not think that's enough to change rom to use any sim
Sorry I misunderstood your question.
In your case as far as I know there is no software way to do this yet, except the unlocking websites (but probably you already know that)
It should be a desire for something like this but I know right?

Maybe somebody try the first method? I have no root

As said before, no software way has been found yet for the Desire S...
However, there's the hardware way... You can easily remove Simlock with XTC Clip. This will also S-off your device (needed for root).
So... Look for somebody nearby with an XTC Clip! There's a list of XTC owners on this site somewhere, not in the Desire S forum though.

Hey CrazyAngel1990
If you still have the SIM lock take a look at this thread

[Q] Several Question about wording like (RUU; WWE...)

Hi,
I have read many threads and posts but I still have some problems with the wording (meaning) of some words.
What does "RUU" stands for?
What does "WWE" stands for?
And I also have some general questions:
Is it usefull to upgrade to the latest radio? If yes, why? If no, why?
Is it usefull to upgrade to the latest Hboot? If yes, why? If no, why?
Thanks guys!

1. RUU = ROM Update Utility. This is an official HTC ROM released as a self-extracting executable file that will install an official signed ROM to an HTC device for which it was intended.
2. WWE = World-wide English. This usually is used to label an official HTC unbranded ROM that can be used to debrand a carrier-based HTC Device.
Radio upgrades: If you are experiencing calling issues, reception problems, data problems etc., then it is usually beneficial to upgrade the radio. If you aren't experiencing issues, then why try to 'fix' something that isn't broken?
HBOOT upgrades: Not really necessary IMHO, especially since most of the new HTC HBOOTs are now the "LOCKED" version and you have to register with HTC to "UNLOCK" it.
As far as I know WWE stands for World Wrestling Entertainment.
It had to be said.
I had some threads around (you can look through the forum and read them) but the general conclusion at this point is that there is no need of hboot 2.00.2002 except using it with a modded Stock HTC ROM (it is the only ROM around that benefits from the new partitioning scheme with a separate lib)

[Q] HTC Sensation on Vodafone

Hi all, I am a complete Android noob and am looks for some answers.
I currently own a HTC Sensation Z710e that came with my contract on Vodafone and I am intrested in performing the whole S-Off and root thing, my question is though since I seen on the HTC Dev site that there is an EU version and a Vodafone version of the Sensation, I wanted to know if rooting on my phone would work and would I be able to install standard Senstation custom ROM's, would they install just fine or would there be issues with things such as calling or texting people? Would I need to change the radio settings around or something, if so how?
I just used the htc dev site just to see about how it works and I am probably going to use revolutionary.
I am running Android 2.3.4
You can tell I am not yet fully experienced when it comes to Android, so could I have some general tips and guidelines when it comes to modding my Sensation please.
Thanks for the help!
Yes when you root it and S off you can use any compatable rom - also unlcok the Sensation for free as well.
My phone came from Orange - S off CoreDroid for me and unlocked its
Marvellous sorry Sensational, now on Virgin
If you can read and follow instructions it's easy.
Use the guide here
