Is it possible to flash a radio that supports HSPA 850 band for the Sensation 4G? I haven't gotten the phone as yet but it has already been shipped, and I noticed it supports 900/1700/2100 HSPA but not 850 band.
Pretty sure that's not possible, you'll need the Telsus version of the Sensation if you want 850. You intend to use it on At&t you will need a Telsus version.

So basically this is a hardware issue, theres no way of flashing a bell or telsus radio to a t-mobile sensation to get 850 band for 3g?

Yes it is a hardware limitation. But check your sensation data sheet if it shows 1900/850, 2100/900 MHz, then it is a world phone. It can be used.
I had similar problem with inspire 4g which has 1900/850 Mhz radio. It is incompatible for the 3g band used in India. I sold it back.

The supported cellular bands should be listed somewhere in the specs. (link?) Should look something like this.
Network technology:
GSM:
850, 900, 1800, 1900
UMTS:
900, 1700/2100, 2100
If you do not see the 1700/2100 bands in the specs., you will not get t-mobile's 4g data speeds. Only edge.

It'll either say that or AWS. I think the EU boxes say AWS
Network
HSPA/WCDMA:
Europe/Asia/T-Mobile US: 900/AWS/2100 MHz Quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE: 850/900/1800/1900 MHz
That is from Euro version specs...

I have that phone and I'm getting at least 3g speeds. I have no idea how to check to see whether I get 4g. If anyone can guide me, I can post my results.
My speeds are not that good, but are the same as my old HTC HD2.
Its about 3Mbps/1Mbps.
4G would be either if your phone said 4G (US) or H+ (EU)
See the guy said for t-mobile its running 1700/2100 i know t-mobile uses 2100 idk if the 1900 is under edge and he just didnt list it cuz he only listed 3g/4g..
I was wondering this same exact thing! I'm also considering buying it from Amazon. I want to buy the international version instead of the Tmous version because hopefully Tmous will allow me to use my $10 web2go plan with the international sensation since my IMEI isn't tracked by Tmous. But at the same time I want to know if the international version with have the 1700/2100 Tmous 4G bands.
On the the HTC HD2, only the Tmous version had the 1700/2100 band whereas the International HD2 had 850/1900 bands. Just want to know if the Sensation is gonna be the same way.
Please update when your phone arrives.
I guess the International Version Sensation DOES HAVE the 1700(AWS)/2100 band. Here is a video of the unboxing of the international version: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HxqA4hNe42A
Now the only question remains is if it'll be able to use the $10 web2go plan
Also check out this review, it's confirmed international version works with Tmous 4G: http://pocketnow.com/android/htc-sensation-review
"CALL QUALITY/NETWORK SPEED
We tested the HTC Sensation over T-Mobile, even though this variant of the Sensation was designed for Europe. Despite this, call quality was fantastic with no dropped calls. We also clocked some pretty healthy data speeds of, on average, 3Mbps down and 1.5Mbps up. In our best test we clocked 6.1Mbps down and 1.7Mbps up."
I am using the sensation on tmobile. It only says H for data. I am not sure if the software can support changing the display. The HTC hd2 I previously used was the tmo version, but I don't think that can support 4G. Is there any barrier that one can say they're on 4G? Like of your speed is above XMbps, then you're on 4G.
I got an international one today(black box). I got worried that I wouldnt get 4g (didnt have UK or USA english only asian countries) The box says:
HSPA/WCDMA (900/AWS/2100 MHz)
GSM/GPRS/Edge (850/900/1800/1900 MHz)
So these are the correct bands for TMO 4g correct? I see I get the H icon on the signal meter but when I did a speed test I got really low scores (could have been the area I was in at the time though) The place I bought it from said I could exchange it for a TMO branded one because I called them and said I didnt think it was compatible with tmo's 4g network. But before I go and exchange it I want to make sure if it doesn or doesnt have the TMO bands

The H symbol is for HSPDA+ (3.5G). Make sure you see the 4G symbol to verify it does get 4G.

Hi, I want to know if the HTC Sensation 4G from T-mobile can support 3G HSDPA 850 / 1900.
I'm confused, some site says that support only HSDPA 900/1700/2100, other site says HSDPA 850 / 1900.
Please anyone help.
No it can't. The Bell version can though.

Hello, i want to buy an unlocked sensation xe or xl, cant find if this international version is compatible with 850 or 1900 3G frequencies. Which are the only 3G frequencies available where i live.
amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B005UYZL2S/ref=mp_s_a_1?qid=1327411954&sr=8-1
Or this one
amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B006546GWG/ref=mp_s_a_1?qid=1327412673&sr=8-1
Anyone know if i will be able to use them on the 850 or 190 mhz 3G frequencies?
Hi, dumb question here,
I was wondering, if i flash a Bell HTC Sensation ROM to a T-mobile HTC sensation and then unlock the phone:
1) Would the frequencies change so it could be used for AT&T 3G?
2) Or will it brick the phone?
Thank you guys!!!
I believe it will give you an error during flashing because cid don't match... But if you have supercid, i think it will be fine...
But I'm positive that it will not give you sim unlock.. you won't be able to use it for att unless you sim unlock...
Sent from my HTC Sensation 4G with Beats
I have Super CID, is rooted, is simunlocked, I want to know about the 3G since they have different Bands.
The T-mobile band is different from AT&T, the Bell band is HSDPA 850 / 1900, T-mobile is HSDPA 900 / 1700 / 2100. As you can see AT&T uses the same band for 3G as Bell (Canada).
If i use a Bell HTC Sensation for AT&T i can get 3G speeds, but with the T-mobile i only get Edge.
So the question still remains, by flashing a Bell ROM to a T-mobile sensation will i be able to get 3G on AT&T, or this is a hardware issue and nothing can be done?

This is a hardware issue. The T-Mobile Sensation lacks those bands and will not get you 3G speeds on AT&T. Flashing a ROM will not change this. Go with the Bell Sensation if you want to use it on AT&T.
Thank you!!! Welcome back T-Mobile!!!
This is my first post so please dont slam me for it. I have been dealing with android phones since i had a G1 and im quite familiar with the superuser and Linux layout. I have rooted about 10-12 android devices in my time. Including unlocking and custom roms. I now have what i believe to be a HTC Inspire 4g and am having trouble defining if i have that or a Desire HD. Whats the difference in the two? Rooting, specs, pros and cons. Any response would be appreciated. Again this is my first post and i do appologize in advance if i posted in the wrong section.

A little searching would have found this information very quickly as its been discussed here and all over the interwebs. The difference is a revision differnce in sound (which is why patches are needed between the roms. And the 3g radio. Easy way to tell, if you get 3g in north america you have an inspire, otherwise you need the desireHD for 3g in europe. They cannot be changed to work universally.
I believe you can go off the model number. Pull your battery door off and look at the model number, then do a search to see which one you have.

The Inspire 4G will have an ATT logo on the back of the phone. And don't forget that Telus in Canada released the Desire HD also. It looks exactly like the European Desire HD except for the small hole next to the camera LED. This is a second mic for noise reduction and is not present on the European version. Except for the ATT logo on the Inspire 4G and the HTC logo on the Telus Desire HD, they are physically the same phone. Both are A9192. The European Desire HD is A9191. Under the battery cover you may see this: Pd98140 is for the Telus Desire HD, Pd98120 is for the Inspire 4G, and no clue what the European Desire HD is.

This is wrong. The Telus DHD is the same as the AT&T Inspire 4G and different than the Euro model. Telus uses the same HSPA frequencies AT&T does, and the Telus model also uses the newer audio setup that the Inspire does. The only differences I know of between the Telus, AT&T and Latin American models is branding and CID. In this case, model number does not tell the story.
